But in this case, I feel it's important to share. I came to this office years ago after moving to Cerritos, right before my wedding, simply looking for a new dentist and a routine cleaning. They had great reviews, which is why I trusted them. From the start, I was told I had extensive issues--multiple cavities needed to be redone and several crowns were recommended. This was surprising to me, as I've consistently gone to the dentist and had never been told I needed such drastic work. Still, I trusted their assessment. The procedures that followed were some of the most painful dental experiences I've ever had. They took hours, felt extremely aggressive, and left me in severe pain afterward--far beyond what I've ever experienced with dental work. I have a high pain tolerance, and this felt very wrong. What was most frustrating was what happened next. I returned multiple times explaining that I couldn't sleep, eat, or function due to the pain. Each time, my concerns were dismissed and attributed to things like not flossing (umm I couldn't floss because of the extreme pain), which didn't make sense given the level of pain I was in. After pushing back repeatedly--especially with my wedding just days away--I insisted something was seriously wrong and requested further evaluation. It turned out I needed three root canals as a result of their prior work. Separately, the crowns that were placed caused ongoing issues. Eating anything with texture would cause gum pain, and I noticed unusual gaps that trapped food. When I brought this up, I was told the only solution was to redo the crowns at additional cost. My crowns also came off. Later, I happened to see a different dentist at the same office (a female provider who may have been temporary), and she immediately noted that the crowns had been placed at an awkward angle. She corrected them, and since then, I've had no pain and no further issues such as crowns falling off. I ultimately switched dentists and have not needed any major dental work since--just routine cleanings every six months, with no recurring problems. Based on what I went through--particularly the aggressive treatment, the outcome, and the dismissal of my concerns--I feel it's important for others to have full context before making a decision.

I had gone in for an emergency appointment, I told the doctor/nurses how I was feeling about it everything and they were all very accommodating and compassionate. Once I got in the room, everything went so fast, they definitely didn't give me a chance to think about what was going to be happening and before I knew it I was fast asleep. The procedure went by so quick! I did feel a little out of it after but there was absolutely no pain or discomfort. I will be doing a follow up in 2 weeks to ensure my recovery is going well and the wounds are healing properly. I definitely will be going back here to look into getting braces since the wisdom teeth ended up causing a lot of overcrowding in mine. Thank you to Dr. Choyee and everyone here!

Highly recommend Dr. Choyee for your oral surgery needs!…read more My wisdom teeth had been causing pain for a few weeks, so I was looking to get them extracted as soon as possible. I had a consultation with a different dentist, but I felt a a bit uneasy about the treatment plan they suggested, so I wanted to get a second opinion from an oral surgeon. I came across Dr. Choyee's practice while searching for oral surgeons that accepted Delta Dental PPO and found positive reviews. Upon calling his office, I was grateful that they had availability later that week for a consultation & same day extraction. Even starting from the phone call, I already felt more at ease. The receptionists were all very knowledgeable and helped explain how my insurance would be applied and other things to expect. The day of the extraction, I was at the office for an hour in total (consultation + extraction). After taking a quick panoramic x-ray, I decided to go with local anesthesia and only felt mild pressure during the procedure. No stitches were needed and I was sent home with gauze & instructions to pickup a mouthwash from my local pharmacy. Overall, Dr. Choyee and his staff were kind, thorough, and made the process a lot less painless than anticipated.
