Overall 5 stars: Awesome food from a great local Chinese restaurant. There is something nostalgic about walking into a local Chinese restaurant and ordering takeout. When in the area you gotta try Laie Chop Suey. Food 5 stars: The food was full of flavor and hits the spot. I ordered the minute chicken with cake noodles and stuffed eggplant. This has got to be the best cake noodles on the island. First of all the portion size is large and the cake noodles hot and crispy. The stuffed eggplant with juicy and had tons of flavor. The dishes cost less than a regular plate lunch or burger meal (less than $15) at other places! Great deal! Service 5 stars: the staff was very friendly and the food came out piping hot and quick! I definitely recommend eating here when you have that urge for great comfort food.

Minute chicken with cake noodles, honey walnut shrimp, fried wontons, chicken low mien, chicken fried rice.

This is exactly the kind of food I've been craving since my last trip to Hawaii. We've never stayed this far north on Oahu and we're so happy to find this gem! Order family style and try things you've never had before. We ordered fried wontons, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mien, honey walnut shrimp and minute chicken with cake noodles. Everything was excellent! We could not believe our order came to $36 for all of that food! This is where the locals eat for a reason. Nothing fancy, just really good food with lots of leftovers. Excellent and friendly service too!

The small beef broccoli pan was over-price for me. It was over $40. As much as I love broccoli some of my party didn't like the fact that most of it was broccoli and there wasn't enough meat. It was still really good though .. I'm just used to paying under $40 for a small pan of beef broccoli. No smiles when I entered. Maybe I came on a bad day ‍ ... I like smiles when I enter a store.

Special lunch plate for $7.25 is a good deal! I wish they included sweet and sour pork, but I settled for the spare ribs instead.. It was a total failure snapping some shots of the food because we were so hungry from driving around the island that we practically inhaled our food. I recommend the cold ginger chicken, roast duck, and beef broccoli. I wasn't digging the sweet and sour spare ribs.. Seems to be a family joint since I seen some young ones helping to prep some to go sauce containers. Lots of different football jerseys on the wall, they are proud of their Kahuku boys in college and the NFL. Overall, great Chinese food spot on the North side.

The servers here smile and are friendly. We did have a pre-order issue, though. Since I arrived early to make sure everything was set, it was an easy recovery but still disappointing. One pre-order dish was egg fu yong. While the server was reviewing the order with me, she said they didn't have it that day. I told her I wasn't notified when I pre-ordered like I was told "no steamed fish" but I just increased the quantities for the other items and it was seamless for the rest of the guests. She did say but I ordered early enough to get my Peking duck. (If we didn't get that I would have them been pretty annoyed.) Food: Not quite as good as last Christmas but still good. Minute chicken cake noodle - chicken was a bit dry and a little tough. Noodles, gravy, Choi sum was good. Soft gau gee mein (family loves our noodles) was better - very tasty, but the gravy was overflowing and spilling all over. Peking duck - half duck, with buns. Came with the customary plum (hoisin) sauce but no green onions/scallions. Not the same without it but was good. Duck skin was crispy, duck meat wasn't dry. Shrimp chips were stale, though. Walnut shrimp was good. Shrimp was slightly overcooked but not enough to matter. Beef broccoli was very good, but not sure they gave us two orders, seemed small compared to the other dishes which we had upped from 1-1/2 to 2. Overall, it's challenging to get good Chinese food now days so we were all satisfied with the food, good service, and the ease of having the dishes come out timely. Hopefully the next time the food will have gone back up in quality and I can give 4 stars.

Tables had boxes stacked on them, little in the trays. It felt pretty uninviting to be honest. But the man behind the counter was kind and welcomed us in. While not much was in the trays, they did have what we were looking for, so we decided to order. The man behind the counter offered us pieces of the meats hanging in the window and we knew we made the right choice. The crispy pork in the window was amazing! Between the two of us we got fried rice, crispy pork, sweet and sour pork and the broccoli beef. Everything was amazing. I was even super impressed with the fried rice which actually had flavor, and I think was cooked in sesame oil. Then we both got drinks. I got the plantation ice tea and it was so flavorful! My son got boba milk tea and said it's the best he's had on island so far. We will for sure be back!

A little tip: I always order ahead and time my arrival, just in case there's a long line. It makes the experience even smoother and lets me get straight to the important part, eating! Also, Adela's is takeout only. The good news is there are plenty of nearby spots where you can stop, eat, and enjoy your meal while taking in the island atmosphere. I wish I had remembered to take pictures of the food before we devoured it, but it disappeared way too fast. Thankfully, I did get a photo of the desserts display, which are every bit as amazing as the noodles. We tried the Ube Cheesecake and Passionfruit Cheesecake this time.
