Yum. I've only had Seventh Son brews maybe 2-3 times but they're unique and yummy. I've liked everything so far but haven't found that one "love" quite yet. However, I have the feeling the more I visit, the faster I'll find a favorite. This is a fun brewery overall. The vibe is great, there's a lovely patio and an upstairs area. Plus, the food trucks that stop by are always A+. And they have craft markets in their parking lot every once in a while. Make sure you say hello to the Assistant Manager. Finally made it in here, after driving by too many times. It is exactly what I expected, only better... That is, it's everything I thought it would be, but done even better than I had hoped. Sweetie's school had a fundraiser, so we were in the back room, private but not isolated. That is a nice room- big enough for a large group but not overwhelming, decorated in the minimalist/brewhouse style of the rest of the place. The front of the place has the bar, tables, a couch, etc., and flows into the back room, and out onto the patio, naturally. It's just a great place to hang out, wander, and drink good beer. I got a flight. There is a lot of good stuff on the beer list, but I just picked the ones that leapt out at me (with one or two Sweetie might at least try.) I like malty, darker beers; I'll have the occasional IPA but generally not a fan. There are quite a few IPAs on their menu and when I have more time I will give a few of them a shot. The Lemongrass wit was my nod to my partner in crime's tastes; she had a few sips and said it was their version of Blue Moon, which is fair, though this is much better. Citrusy, light, and pleasant. A good summer beer. Next was the Are You Badenov kvass. I've had non-alcoholic kvass, so I knew something of what to expect. I liked it, didn't love it; Sweetie took a sip and was out. It was also a bit citrusy, but with deeper notes and a sharpness from the rye and ginger. More my style of thirst quencher, but certainly not everyone's. Either would pair well with light foods. On to the main course. The barleywine was rich, strong, fruity, and in your face. Malty to the point of excess, lots of alcohol, and a lot of hoppiness to it too. Something to sip, and eat with food to absorb some of that strength. Finally, the Wilderman bier de garde, my favorite. Very malty, fruity, yeasty, and just amazing. I should have gotten a growler (don't even know if they do those.) It would go well with my favorite, strong-flavored foods, like BBQ. Street Thyme was the food truck there when we went, but we didn't have long, and weren't really looking for burgers, as good as they are. Parking is tight, but easy access, and there is some street parking available so unless it is a madhouse you should be okay. Service was excellent- friendly and fast, and knowledgeable. I've only ever ordered Seventh Son's beer for pickup or delivery, but I am absolutely thrilled with their customer experience and customer service. When there was a mix up with my delivery they went to great lengths to make it right immediately, and with kindness. They offer free next-day delivery to Columbus and it's suburbs, which is fantastic for lazy beer drinkers like me. My fiancé favors the Qahwah-- it's his favorite beer, period! Any time they release something new, we try to order it ASAP. They sell out super quickly and everything they make is good. We just ordered the Luella and are super excited to try it! I dropped by the other night for a fundraiser my friend was hosting. The brewery donated $1 for every beer that was purchased! I ordered the scientist. I'm not too into beer but I actually really liked it. They serve beer, wine and cocktails. The atmosphere is great. Lots of seating. There's a patio or front where there was a food truck parked, there's seating on the main floor as well as a rooftop. There are TVs on the top level. Fun place! read more

To talk about decor, but I loved the vibe of the place - open, big tables, nice patio, open viewing to their brewery... We had good company, and a haggle (pack? flock?) of bicyclists appeared out of the blue and took over the bar. Yet there was *still* room for us! No food. That's okay. Ambiance was casual they should have an area to leave dogs, not an open patio. Bartender was meh. If I wanted to be judged by someone for the clothes I'm wearing or my ability to start/hold a conversation I'd get better results at pac sun. Whoever this person was bartending had a very stinky attitude and without voicing it I heard from 3-4 people my first time there that it's a problem. I'm gonna go to the bar across the street. I will say that the food truck was amazing. This pizza is Mfin snapping. I'd love to comment on the beers, unfortunately every time I was served it felt like I should have been grateful. I'm just not big on that. I was grateful. Tipped above 20%. Service did not impact tip and it's possible I just was there on a bad day. I'll check in on this place in a few months, I wish them the best. I'll comment on the beers if I have a normal experience next time. As someone in the service industry, have a few different friends show up in less than plain clothes separately and see what service they all receive. Staff was incredibly organized and friendly while seating customers. I really appreciated their efforts to keep customers safe with COVID-19 protocols. I've had their beers before and have never been really impressed. I figured they would likely be much better from the brewery, but they were even worse. I had a scientist IPA which was ok. It either has an incredibly mild hop profile or it was old. My girlfriends Berliner was completely flat with not a single bubble in it, which was a shame because it otherwise was a really balanced and tasty Berliner. This is one of my favorite places to get a drink in the city. Seventh Son has a large patio area which, when the weather is better, is great. It's unassuming, with casual patio chairs and lots of space. The beers are all excellent too. But what makes for a solid 1-2 punch is the food trucks you can order from while at the brewery. This is the 2nd year I've been here for a group party. I am a volunteer for Dress for Success and it holds its holiday, annual volunteer recognition. I thought parking would be a bear - near campus on 4th Street - navigating it at the end of rush hour, in the dark. I kept seeing places to park as I passed 1st, 2nd and early cross streets heading north. As soon as I realized I was there - at 5th Ave - I was able to turn right and there was a parking spot right there! Super simple! There were outside fire pits blazing and also a fire inside. We had the back room to ourselves. We had about 3 tables filled with ladies. We had drink tickets so I don't know how much the drinks cost. The bartender got my Diet Coke right away. (I'm a cheap date). There were 2 big boxes of thick crust pizza and 2 huge tubs of salad. We also had nice cookies for dessert. I don't know if the food was brought in or provided by the bar. There was overhead music playing - but we were clearly able to hear the presentation when our little program started. It was a very nice event and felt very intimate - no one bothered us - like having the place to ourselves! I went here for the first time for a bridal shower for my friend. The facility is much bigger than it appears from the exterior. The main floor has a nice bar area with bar and table seating, outdoor seating and there is a separate party room where the bridal shower was held. The drinks were reasonably priced and had good flavor. There is an upstairs area where patrons can get a good view of he brewery equipment or just sit down and have some drinks. I have been to Seventh Son a couple times before but not since they put in the new rooftop bar. That gives them like triple more space which was definitely lacking before. It was a really nice area. Unfortunately for me parking will always be an issue. You have to circle the block a few times to find anything if there aren't any spots out front. They do have a nice rotation of food trucks that visit the brewery. In the warmer months there is also a nice patio area. Their style of beer is not typically my favorite but I've had ones I've liked. The vibe of the place is nice and I love that they have a brewery cat. Stopped in here on a Wednesday after a work event and was pretty happy with this place. The beers are named really long (and kinda lame) names so you really have no idea what you're getting without reading the description. I had a couple of their stouts and they were good. One tasted a little tinny which (possible contamination) wasn't fun. I also tried a key lime lager which just tasted like a session lager... Citrusy lager. Totally worth going whether you are a local or visiting. Good beers on tap, such a great outdoor space also indoor rooftop. They have front free parking lot which was nice and a food truck parked nearby. We stopped by for an hour just before their closing, bartender was super friendly and very helpful picking out beers for us. There was something on their tap list for any beer lover. Most of their beer list are IPAs or Ale, I am not that big fan of IPAs but their IPAs were good to try. Got a custom flight which was a nice way to try the different beers - with 4 beers, two were bartender picks (Fox in the stout, Humulus nimbus) and rest of them were our picks (Sunny den, Beer me). My preference (Humulus nimbus, Beer me, Fox in the stout (too bitter) and Sunny den (too sour)) Took one star off cuz they have limited parking space and super crowded however overall, this is what a neighbor brewery should be like. I was in Columbus for a conference and feeling a bit thirsty before my dinner reservation. I grabbed my colleague and we headed to Seventh Son after seeing some positive reviews. The location is in a very trendy area of town and though the streets around it were pretty packed, we lucked into a spot in their relatively small parking lot. The space on the first floor looked modern and comfy, but when we heard about the rooftop bar we headed for the stairs! The top floor is fantastic space with a completely open roof. The bar has all the taps from downstairs and the long, common picnic tables are good for sitting, drinking, and chatting. The beer itself was cold and very tasty. We sampled a few different styles and never did hit a dud. I would recommend Seventh Son and would go again when I'm in town. read more

Look, I like Seventh Son's beer. They have a great spot, great patio, great rooftop. We stopped in a couple Saturday's back. Nice day out. Had Street Thyme food truck, which was great! I consider myself a pretty laid back dude and don't ask for much. Previous encounters have just been met with some unwarranted attitude or what I would say is just short responses where the staff seem "bothered". For example, when we were in a couple weekends ago, we got to Seventh Son around lunch. Not a lot of people waiting when we arrived only us and one other couple were waiting to get in because we were waiting for a table to open up outside. It was a borderline day where when the sun was out, it was nice. When the sun wasn't out, it was a bit chilly. So it was pretty cloudy when we were seated. Sun comes out and is moving and we are literally the one table that was in the shade, oh no! The table next to ours (in the sun) opens up as the patrons had left. So the next chance we see a staff member come over to clean the table and my fiancé goes over to ask if we can switch to that table since it's in the sun. The staff member just said no this table is for our next guests that want to be outside. My fiancé says ok well can we just switch we are sitting at this table right here and points to our table. The staff member just says no. We weren't given any reason like well due to COVID protocols we can't have people jumping tables or the next guests specifically asked for a table in the sun, it's our policy, etc. nothing like that. Just a cold hearted no this table isn't for you. So given that it was a little chilly and shaded at our table, we finished our beer and cashed out and left. We would have stuck around and ordered multiple drinks had we been able to switch to that table but it's not about that. Just having a simple explanation would have been nice rather than just a "no" with attitude. All we were asking for was just a little kindness and an explanation. It just kind of put us off and we wanted to leave. Like I said, this isn't the first weird or "bothered" response we have received from interacting with staff here. Love the beer and the location but the poor interactions have been a bit of a downer. Now I will say, when i went to cash out, the bartender behind the bar was excellent, very friendly, chatted it up with him and he took great care of us when we were at the bar grabbing a drink. read more

We visited several breweries during our custom tour near the B&B we are staying in. I loved the beer and I loved the atmosphere here. There was an eclectic blend of people, both patrons and the staff and all seemed friendly. We found two spots at the bar easily and enjoyed the Hop Lovers Flight. All beers in the flight were pretty good, with Gleen as the standout. They've just opened up a new rooftop bar with a retractable roof which overlooks their production area. It's a beautiful area - if I lived here I suspect I'd be hanging out there quite a bit! Now if you appreciate waiting for a long time for your quadruple IPA then this is the place for you.... The bar is open and spacious with lots of fresh air of the doors/garage doors are open. At this point, the Columbus craft beer market is obviously booming, so it's hard for me to pick any one brewery as my favorite. I'd say Seventh Son comes closest to taking the cake, not only with the quality of the beers they're producing but also the awesome brew house they have on 4th St. Their conversion of an old garage was one of the early businesses to really help start the transformation of the 4th St/Italian Village area. First of all, you can check out the brew system from the outside just by looking into the big garage doors to see the setup. Second, Seventh Son is so open that it makes it the perfect Spring/Summer/Fall place to hang out and have a brew. They have a smaller patio facing 4th St and then a much larger one in the back with plenty of tables. The garage doors open out to the patio so even if you don't have a spot outside, it feels like you do. They also have a fairly large event space inside as well which seems occupied more often than not. You can find Seventh Son just about anywhere in Columbus that's serving up local beers, and I'd say the Strong Ale and the Sessian IPA, Wuffles, are the two favorites. Don't stick to just these two though, because they have a wide selection on tap at the brew house all the time. Seventh Son does not serve food here, but they do always have a food truck on hand, and you can see the truck schedule on the website. Usually, it's been a mix between That Food Truck and Challah! with a few others sprinkled in. If you're looking to check out some great beer in Columbus as well as an awesome bar, Seventh Son would be my pick. You can actually stop here first and head down 5th Ave to Brothers Drake and continue down High St. to check out the other breweries in Columbus, but Seventh Son makes a great first stop on the Columbus brew trail. read more

My friend Anthony and I walked in here on the worst bar night ever in Columbus. Everywhere we went was packed. We were trying to find somewhere without a huge crowd where we could sit and talk comfortably. Seventh Son was not the place. It too was packed. Not a single bar stool, nor a seat at a table, unless we wanted to sit with total strangers. I think the idea is that you might actually sit with total strangers, and on the right occasion we may well have, but not tonight. I was spotted by a few acquaintances at the bar, so we chatted with them for a bit. We talked about the place, and as it turns out, my acquaintance's husband is a co-owner. None of the biz's own brews were ready yet, so they were only offering guest brews for the time being. They've done good things with the space, which I'm fairly certain is a converted auto garage. The concrete floors are cool and sleek, as are the bar top and furnishings. I am pretty fond of the gigantic mass of windows that make up the storefront, although sometimes when I'm getting my drink on, I like a little privacy. The patio, you can tell just by looking at it, is going to be a huge hit in warmer months. It's massive, and boasts more sleek styling. If they're smart enough to get some of those warmer thingies, this patio could keep them uber busy all winter. One final tidbit. I've been hearing for years that the people behind Bodega were opening a brewery in Italian Village. I heard, but cannot confirm [A friend in the beer biz confirmed for me after reading this], that this might be the place. Speaking of it being in Italian Village, it's only a block or so from St. James Tavern. This could be the James's undoing, which would be a shame. read more

This eclectic brewery is a MUST see,stop, and hang in the newly revitalized Italian District (Short North Out Skirts). The environment/crowd on the weekends is a mixture of agnostic, trendy, eco friendly, grass roots, pierced up, tatted Where's Waldo, some what dirty looking guys and gals, and of course dashes-sprinkles of LGBT through out. My type of crowd! The bar itself is a de-converted auto-mechanic shop(cool right?) With a glass garage doors that open from the bar on to a full patio with a room for food trucks in the front. Also you can see the brewery equipment from the bar and patio which is need. The bar is actually pretty larger than you would believe as there is a back patio and dining. They do have about five-six craft bars that are made in house. I had the Hibiscus and it was FANTASTIC! I am not a huge beer drinker and for the girl or guy that want's to score points in front of your more gut pounding, belching friends I would recommend as it is only $5. Prices are really reasonable and again a great chill place to meet friends or even meet an OKCupid/Match.com date. Now if you are looking for color diversity be aware that the colors are NOT that varying for race, again that's the way of Columbus. If you are ok being a token Black,Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern then drink and be merry as I always am. Again I have fallen in love, but I am hoping that the next time I visit this haven for the misfit toys that one of the dirty Where's Waldo looking guys will at least engage a sistah in some sexy flirtations over libations!!!! read more

If you don't know the beer scene around town, somebody is bound to tell you that Seventh Son is SOOOO AMAAAAAAAZING. It's not. Seventh Son is a very good brewery with several worthwhile beers, but they do brew, and offer a few beers that leave a good bit to be desired. This is OK, but you need to know that Seventh Son's success due in part to a strong following that has nothing to do with beer. The expanded space is a bit of a bummer. Maybe I need to get used to it, but all the charm they had is gone. Service can be great, but there are a few knobs who work here and they can really kill a mood. That's the price you pay when the owner lets friends work for him. At least that's my theory. That's the only explanation I have for the disparity between the good barkeeps and the bad ones. read more
