Just dropped off my bridesmaid dress that's due in Sept. it needs quite a bit of work but they didn't seem to concerned. They did say they wanted to focus on the top part, then once I go try that on and confirm it's good, they'll do the hem to the bottom. This is the second time I've brought in a piece to have work done but the first time only needed a button resown and they did it at that visit in 10 minutes. It only cost me $2 which was super reasonable. The guy that works there is so so nice! He always strikes a conversation with me every time I'm in there. I dropped in unannounced to have the sleeves taken up on a brand-new sport coat. I explained that I had a job interview and I couldn't wait for the usual turnaround time. One (the owner) was empathetic and explained that she understood how important that event was and promised me a one-day turnaround. I came back the following day to a jacket that was flawlessly altered with perfect-fitting sleeves! I have honestly never had such awful experience at any tailor before. I would give 0 stars if I could. I needed to get a bridesmaid dress hemmed, have the belt removed, and have the bust altered so it wasn't as open. When I went to pick up my dress, I tried it on again and noticed there were stains all over it! I pointed them out, and the man replied "oh, you can get that dry cleaned." I told him that the stains were not there when I dropped off the dress. He only repeated to get it dry cleaned. The bust was also laying oddly and he simply reiterated "the dry cleaner will fix that." Very helpful. At the dry cleaners, I found at least 7 stains on the front and back of my dress!! The dress took about 2-3 months to be delivered and I did not have time to buy another, let alone get it altered again. A $45 dry clean bill later, my dress still has stains on it. I should not have to eat this cost. The dress was over $100, and they charged me $70 to alter. I called Sew and Tell to request any type of reimbursement and the woman who answered said that the manager wasn't in. I asked if she knew when they would be in and she did not know. That's understandable. So then I asked her to give them my number to call me back, but she hastily said "I'm with a customer" and hung up on me! If they would have reimbursed my dry cleaning bill, or addressed their short-comings, I honestly would not have left a review. But the complete rudeness I received from the people working here is absurd. read more

This place is so convenient! We've used Sew & Tell for any alterations needs over the years. Right in Oviedo off of 426. It's easy to get into to and they are easy to work with. This particular visit I needed to have a button replaced on a pair of jeans. We dropped them off, and in a few days were able to pick them up. These folks are super-reasonable too. It has never cost a lot of money to do even more extensive alterations. We have had everything from pants taken in, dresses altered, shirts mended, to replacement buttons......way back these folks even altered my wife's wedding dress.....Definitely an independent family-run style business. They show that they appreciate your business and will tell you up front what they can do and what it will cost. They will measure you and go through the whole gamut if you need alterations. I take all my pants here to be hemmed. She measures each leg every time. Makes a huge difference in the fit. Always perfect. She told me that almost every persons legs are uneven and most tailors only measure one side which is why the other tailors I used in the past were never this perfectly hemmed. The best. I can just go by experience and this place is extremely overpriced, vip alterations are much more friendly and the price range there is much much better. I felt very rushed and UNCOMFORTABLE here. I don't know if they just take on too much to handle but I will not be going back. They Wanted to charge me 100 for very simple things ( it still didn't even look like how I wanted it to be done) and when I said I'll go somewhere else they said anywhere else will be unprofessional. LOL yeah right. vip alterations 1 minute down the road charged me 45 and it looked amazing and understood EXACTLY what I wanted way better without the extremely judgmental comments, and could get it done way sooner. AND on top of this, while I was in vip alterations there was another costumer who said she just left this place as well to come over to vip because the workers were rude and wouldn't do a simple take in to a pair of bathing suit bottoms. Came in for my first time. Sweetest lady works here! Needed my shorts done early and she said she could have them done by the time I needed! As a server I tried to tip her for tending to my needs and she put the money back in my purse! Never had that happen before. What a sweetheart. Do not do not DO NOT give Oviedo Sew and Tell your business!!! I took my wedding dress there over a month ago, at first the lady was really nice and told me it'd be no biggie to do my dress, " easy peasy" she said but then she rushed through my fitting. I was in and out of the shop in less than 5 mins....I should have known as soon as that happened something was up....went back 4 days later tried it on and it was like they didn't do anything to it but they swore up and down they took 2 inches off each side and it was my fault for losing so much weight...so let me reiterate that they are accusing me of loosing 4 inches off my waist in 4 days and i'm only 90 lbs to begin with...are they for real?! They then said no biggie we'll do 2 more inches and then scheduled me to come back in 10 days and then charged me $200, never even gave me a receipt or breakdown of what I paid for!!! $200 to tighten the top sides of my dress from my armpit to waist that's it I didn't realize until I left that they actually charged me twice because they had to do it again even though it was completely obvious they screwed up and never even touched it! So at this point i am very frustrated but my wedding is in less than 2 weeks and I have so much going on so as long as it was done right the next time i'd just swallow the extra $100 and move on....that was until I went in to pick it up, they rushed me out, told me there was no reason to even try it on because they did it another two inches and if they did anymore my dress would be ruined so it should be perfect but if I have a problem bring it back in....meanwhile my toddler is pitching a fit so I just ran out of there and figured it was be good....got home and tried it on...there's not a single stitch on it except some breast pads they insisted I add in even though I didn't want them or see a need in them but they insisted they have to do it to get what I want out of it. Not only that but my waist was still huge, they never did my bustle even though I asked them several times to do it, they never touched the sides, and the bra cups just made the top super baggy, my sleeves literally just fell off my shoulders and I can literally almost stick another person in the top with me, it's really bad I literally have no idea how they even did that....confused and not sure if I could tell if they did something or not properly I took it to my neighbor who is a seamstress and she can't find a single stitch on the dress except for my bra cups!!! I am literally at a loss for words and literally just want to crawl up in a ball and cry or scream!!! My wedding is in less than 2 weeks and I paid this lady $200 to sew bra pads in my dress?! I have never been so upset with a business before in my life!!!! They literally scammed me and are very potentially ruining my wedding! Who does this to someone?! I did a lot of research before coming here. I had a few items of clothing I needed mild alterations on and hadn't really had the time to find a place to do them. I'm 4'11" and often end up with clothes that I love, but can't wear because of their length. I miss out on all the cute maxi dresses and flowy beach pants. I finally decided on this place because it was fairly close to my job and all of the reviews said the staff was friendly, which I find to be an extremely important quality of any business! I came out here on a Thursday afternoon, about 30 minutes before they closed. I was greeted by the sweetest lady, who I believe may be the owner. She had me try on the clothing, and quickly was able to pin up the clothes to what I wanted. She was funny and talkative the entire time, and made me feel at ease. I had 2 pants and 2 dresses, and we were done figuring out the issues in less than 10 minutes. She rang me up, and when I heard the price, I wasn't crying! I'm always afraid that things like this are going to break my wallet's heart, but it was reasonably priced. You do have to pay for the alterations in full at the time of drop off, but I trusted it was going to go well. I came back a week later for my clothing, and she was all smiles again. One of the other workers helped me carry my stuff to the car (I was on crutches). He was very friendly, and we talked for a bit. When I got home and tried the clothing on, I was so happy, I had an impromptu photo shoot. All of the clothes I hadn't been able to wear because they were too long, suddenly fit perfectly! They had been sitting in my closet, collecting dust, and I was ready to give up on ever wearing them. Her work was meticulous, not a single frayed thread, or a messed up stitch. The fabric was intact, and the garments looked exactly as they did when I dropped them off- just in my size.
