Would definitely not go again- disappointed in this company that was recommend to me. Jun 1 I dropped off 5 skirts. 3 to have the waist brought in and 2 for a cleaning: seams, zipper, and etc. For the 3 skirts that had to have the waist in I brought in a skirt with the waist size I wanted so that there didn't have to be a fitting. I was scheduled to pick up on June 13th as I had speaking engagements then next few days. On the 13th when I was driving to pick up I got a call that they weren't ready yet, but if I came I could wait 20 min for them. I ended up waiting 1.5 hours and during that time there were other customers that came in that also wasn't done and would be additional days to what I believe is new work they got in. I wait 1.5 hours while they work on my skirts and the young lady who was working on the last one asked me to try it on for fit, I do and she has to take it in more. I also had to come back a month later for the skirts that weren't finished. The next day I get a call from the owner stating that there was a fitting down that I didn't pay for. I was completely confused. I did not understand why she was calling to charge me for a fitting that the young woman asked me to do and after I waited 1.5 hours. It made no sense. We went back and forth because she must have forgotten that I brought in the additional skirt for sizing and didn't need the fitting, didn't know I waited as long as I did, didn't know that the young lady asked for me to try it on, and also didn't get the full story of what occurred. Fast forward. On July 13 I come to grab the skirts and it is obvious that either the work has been done or it has been down sub par. I was able to get a refund thank gosh. Disappointed in the customer service, the communication, and the handling of an error.

Ms. V did an incredible job with alterations on my wedding dress and my (now) husband's suit! My dress was way too big when I took it in but she made adjustments until it fit perfectly. She even added an internal belt to hold up the heavy bottom of the dress and make me feel more comfortable. She was always responsive and kind. She even worked in my husband at the last minute to tailor his suit to his liking. Her pricing is fair and you can absolutely trust Ms. V to have you looking good on your big day!

Love the staff and they were very COVID safe They ended up helping me with my wedding dress and my reception dress. I got both hemmed and the wedding dress added a bustle for later. A very wonderful young lady (Bailey I believe) helped me with all my visits and I promised her a picture in both dresses :) Quick turn around and the results were amazing!

I had a wonderful experience when I need my wedding dress to be altered. I had purchased my dress a few months before I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease that required a quadruple bypass. Unfortunately, the surgery left a scar that was quite visible with the V-neck of the dress. Bailey worked her magic and turned the V-neck in to a boat neck. I could not be happier with the results! Everyone at Sew More Couture was friendly and provided exceptional service.

Had a great experience during the Beginners Class. The classroom is upstairs once you get inside the building. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The classroom is cozy with at least 6 sewing machines. Beginners don't be afraid! She even includes the late students so they get caught up with everyone else. She's very patient and will help you until you get it right. She gave us a learning guide to take with us and recommended some great sewing machine brands to purchase. Her classes get booked fast so schedule them as soon as they become available. I can't wait to sign up for my next class.

I wish I could give this business 10 stars!!! It's really hard to find a good seamstress. My daughter needed alterations on her prom dress. I googled businesses in my area and viewed their website. I also sought recommendations from friends. This business came highly recommended which was confirmation! Vongie Newman, the owner was very professional and provided excellent customer service. All of her staff were friendly and helpful. When we went to pick up the dress, the fit was perfect!! We will be returning and I would highly recommend this business to anyone who needs alterations without worry!! read more

I visited Sew More Couture to get some work done on a evening gown that I had bought "as is." Vongie, the owner, found a new zipper that perfectly matched the dress and fixed the beading problems in only two days! Her customer service was amazing. You can tell that she truly cares about helping every woman look their absolute best. I'm very late posting this, but I had an amazing and heartfelt experience here. Vongie was absolutely great, and so understanding with my circumstances. I had to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed and she did a beautiful job on it. I plan on taking it back to her to have her shorten it for every day use as well. I would recommend this establishment every time for alterations. Also, she offers classes for kids!! I'm planning on signing my daughter up once time becomes more available for us. This hidden gem is perfect! The woman that runs the place is very friendly and welcoming. The environment is very comfortable. She made sure everything was altered perfectly. The dress ended up fitting perfect! We did have a communication issue which wasn't too big, but I was accommodated for this mishap. I would definitely recommend this place for alterations and I will be using this location in the future. I brought a dress to Sew More Couture that needed to be hemmed. I scheduled my appointment online using their website. Upon entering the store I tried the dress on and the bottom was pinned up and they decided the shoulders could probably use some alterations and I agreed. I paid in full - $60 for the alterations and agreed on Friday the 16th for it to be picked up. I filled out the receipt - which only asked for my address and left. I had not heard from them on Friday so I decided to call before I went and picked up my dress to ensure it was ready. The phone was answered and than sat down and I heard in the background "Oh, that's the dress you did you'll need to talk to her about that." The seamstress who did my alterations answered and said my dress was ready but she realized after I left she "forgot" to charge me for the shoulder alterations and it would be 30 additional dollars when I pick up my dress. I informed her I paid in full before I left and was not expecting any other charges - especially not $30 which would have made the alterations more than the dress itself. She said they would have called but they did not have my number (Please keep in mind I scheduled online so they not only had my number but also my email address because I received appointment confirmations on both.) I said they should have waited and got my consent for additional charges before they went ahead and did they work because had they called I would have asked them not to as the shoulders were not the main reason I brought the dress in. She said I could pay $20 instead of $30 but I told her I would not be paying for service I didn't authorize and I would be in to pick it up soon. The conversation ended and a few minutes later the owner Mrs. V called. She said the seamstress said I was upset and was refusing to pay for services. I continued to tell her the same thing - that they should have called and asked for consent before they did they work. Again, she said well we didn't have your number. She than tried to "compromise" with me and said I could pay $15 - which again I didn't agree to. She finally said well if you're not willing to pay than we will have to reverse our work. I said that's okay I will not be paying for work or a charge I didn't authorize. Upon picking up the dress I informed them I do not appreciate being taken advantage off and that they in fact did have my contact information they just didn't make an effort to try and contact me. Needless to say, this is no way to run a business and I will not be back nor will I recommend this business to any friends or family. read more

Sew More Couture is owned and operated by Ms. Vongie Newman. She has been sewing ever since she got her first sewing machine as a gift back when she was 14. As a teenager, she sewed clothes through school and performed alterations in the neighborhood for extra cash. We create career wear, provide sewing lessons, alterations and sell formal wear.

With a strong desire to learn all that I possibly could about sewing, I've had the pleasure of taking lessons from some very talented professionals across the U.S. They have worked with me, shared ideas and techniques, and nurtured me along the way, helping me become the best that I can be. I am a member of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals (ASDP), American Sewing Guild (ASG), and The Haute Couture Club of Chicago. The members of these organizations have a vast variety of talent, knowledge, and willingness to share.

Vongie and Sew More Couture are, in a word, Fantastic. I found her after a local seamstress absolutely butchered a brand new dress and skirt I had received as gifts. While I knew the skirt could be easily fixed, I did not know what could be done about the dress. I was heartbroken. After sharing several emails with Vongie I felt confident that she would find a solution. When I showed up at Sew More Couture she had a game plan in hand with several options to work with. Vongie said that even if she had to completely redesign my dress and send me home with a new dress, she was going to make sure I was happy. Luckily the dress didn't need to be redesigned, and looking at it now, you can't even tell where the initial problem was. I will definitely go to V for all my future alterations. She did such a great job I am already looking through my closet for other items she can alter for me. I highly recommend V and Sew More Couture for any alterations. The owner Vongie Newman is at 1644 Annapolis Rd #5 (upstairs-black door) in Odenton Md. What a talent she is and so pleasant especially working with women. She makes clothes, draperies and has lessons and does everything. I am tired of going to these cheap dry cleaners who only have women who don't know what you want your clothes to look like on you and so expensive. Well Vongie is worth every penny and is very reasonable. I recommend her to everyone who has lost weight and love their clothes and don't want to spend more then their clothes cost. Love, love, love Sew More Couture!!! The Basic Alterations & Repair class was fantastic. I was hesitant to take the class initially, as I haven't sewn in a few years; but I certainly had some clothes that didn't fit and was tired of them taking up space in my closet. Once the class started, I knew I was in the right place. Immediately the instructor made me feel comfortable and at ease. She taught us great altering techniques - not just how to alter and repair what was brought to class -- but techniques we could apply elsewhere. In addition to learning new techniques, this class has motivated me to get back into sewing. Not only did I have fun taking the class, I now have several "new" additions to my wardrobe, without going shopping. I highly recommend the instructor and the class. read more

I highly recommend Sew More Couture for all your tailoring needs! I brought in a dress almost two sizes too big. Ms. V and Bailey listened to my concerns and talked through the solutions with me. They delivered high quality services. When I went to pick it up I realized I wanted it a little tighter and secure at the chest area. I had an amazing experience at Sew More Couture! The customer service is exceptional, the prices are very affordable, and the location is very accessible. I went to get my prom dress altered but after expressing that I wasn't really in love with it I instead ended up buying a new dress which I absolutely love. The owner and employee working there were very genuine and are definitely more interested in pleasing their clients than making large profits. Love Sew More Couture! When I found the wedding dress of my dreams it was a size too small, but Ms.V was able to alter and make it work for my wedding days ! Yes I put an 's' at the end, as I was one of the brides that had a small wedding ceremony during Covid restrictions and big celebration a year after! So my husband and I had two weddings! I needed the help of an expert seamstress who could take two of my daughter's dance recital costumes and turn them into a Christmas stocking. I was not disappointed! I just love Sew More Couture!!! I needed a custom made African inspired dress for vacation and boy did they deliver. Not only was my garment tailored to fit me perfectly but it was created quickly. I live in Southern Maryland and went on Yelp to find a seamstress to alter my mother of the groom dress. Sew More Couture had great reviews so I took my chances and took the hour drive to go there. I met with Vongie on a Tuesday and she was wonderful to work with. She had my dress ready on Saturday and I couldn't have been happier with the results. I took 2 formal gowns to Vongie for my daughter and myself to be hemmed. After putting the dresses on, Vongie was able to help determine other alterations needed in order to make the dresses fit better. After the work was completed and we tried the dresses on for a final fitting, I can say that my daughter and I were very happy. The dresses fit perfect!
