My wife and I ate here one early evening a couple of months ago. Found it on Yelp which contained many 5 star reviews. Having eaten there it's obvious why. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who was our server. She was outgoing, confident and knowledgeable about the restaurant. We enjoyed excellent cocktails before dinner. I had the short rib rigatoni. Probably the best I've ever had. My wife's gnocchi was equally outstanding. Everything is fresh and homemade. What I really like about Sfuzio is its size. It's not a corporate mega restaurant but rather a cozy but upscale bar and eatery. We will definitely be returning some time soon keeping in mind we live 2 hours north. We also like the location near Desert Ridge which we frequently shop at when we're down in that area. read more

I have to say that they have one of the best tiramisu's that I have eaten,I love the amaretto. The place was charming inside. Brian was nice although he could've been a little bit more attentive so my husband wouldn't have to ask for a second drink that has been empty for a bit. Plus they had to tell him for a different times I had a reservation. I was not impressed with the Bolognese. Something was off about it. And my pasta was more than al dente when I picked it up with a fork. It kind of just all stuck together. I expressed my concerns to Marco one of the owners and he was truly confused because I guess that never happens. People are pretty satisfied with their product. He asked me if I would like something else, at that time, I didn't, but I did talk myself into the tiramisu and he gladly paid for that. They really did try to make it right, but I truly was a little nervous about ordering a different entrée. They were so nice, I want to go back, I just don't know when... The service was lovely, and the staff was very sweet. The food was horrible. The worst meal I have had the pleasure of paying for in the last year- the seafood was all overcooked, the rigatoni was under salted, the fettuccine in the Chiopino was mush. The creme brûlée was cold and the sugar was over cooked. Every single thing that came to the table was borderline inedible. It's a cozy little place looked likes it was once a sushi place. We decided to go in for dinner. We ordered Caesar salad, lobster ravioli and the bolognese. Caesar salad was kind of dry asked for more dressing = better. We asked if bread came with meal since we were starving. Answer is no, so we ordered bread. Bolognese didn't quite taste like what I'm used to and noodles seemed mushy or overcooked. Food was okay it felt a little overpriced. They do have a $6 happy hour menu. It's been a while, but we stopped for a quick bite before a MIM concert. Sfizio did not disappoint. I had forgotten how good their eggplant was. (I'm the only one who likes eggplant, so finding a really good presentation gets me excited. My husband's pizza was also delicious. Good portions, nicely priced, and excellent service. I genuinely dont know how this place isnt MORE famous Ok so I've been to Italy. Like actual Italy. And I'm telling you right now, Chef Rocco's food at Sfizio hits different than half the restaurants I ate at over there and thats not an exaggeration. My husband thought I was being dramatic (classic) but then he took one bite of the short rib rigatoni and went quiet for like 45 seconds. Thats how good it is. We stumbled upon this place near Desert Ridge and honestly it kind of blew us away. The pasta is made fresh IN HOUSE every single day and you can taste it immediately. Theres this softness and depth to it that you just can not get from anything boxed or store bought. The bolognese is rich and slow-simmered and tastes like someones nonna has been standing over it all day. The pizza crust is this perfect crispy-chewy situation that I still think about. We got the Calabrese with the honey drizzle and wow. The meatballs are enormous and somehow not dense at all, light and herby and covered in gorgeous sauce. We also tried the burrata caprese and the eggplant rollitini as apps and both were absolutely stellar. The vibe inside is cozy and warm with a lovely patio with string lights, perfect for date night or just a Tuesday when you need a good meal. Staff was so genuinely kind and attentive without being hovery. You can just tell this is a family operation that really, truly cares. And honestly do not leave without trying the tiramisu. My wife and I have been here a few times, with last night being the most recent. We like to sit at the bar and did so last night. With it being restaurant week it was quite busy, however they only had one bartender working. Not only that but he was also waiting on tables. Needless to say the service was sub par with water glasses not getting refilled, having to wait to get a second glass of wine, dirty dishes lingering and waiting a long time for food to arrive. The food as usual was good, however luke warm when served - perhaps to the delay as noted above. We have been here before and had better service, so maybe this was just an off night? Will probably give one more chance before blacklisting. read more

We were doing a staycation at the JW and craving some pasta. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and our server was extremely attentive. I started with a delicious espresso martini. We ordered the focaccia with a pesto whipped ricotta. It was soooo fresh and delicious!! My two kids even enjoyed it, and they're the pickiest eaters! We also all split the Caesar salad. Again, very yummy and our boys approved! My husband devoured the short rib pacceri. The short rib melted in his mouth! I had the pasta Tuscan style. It was pretty good but I don't think I would order it again. I don't like mushrooms and I think this is probably a key element to the dish. It's my own fault! We had a reservation for Sunday night but it wasn't necessary as the restaurant wasn't busy. My family enjoyed the pizza, pasta, lasagna and cannoli's. My picky eater was pleasantly surprised and ate all of the kids spaghetti and meatball. The eggplant rollatini was over powered by the ricotta. My husband and I are always getting pizza but we rarely go to Italian places so we decided to come here tonight! It is where humble pie used to be which I used to frequent in high school haha. It was a fun ambiance, there's a patio, and you can see the wood fired pizza oven! Service was great they were accommodating for our almost 1 year old son! We got the focaccia to start which was fluffy and delicious, loved the spread with it too. For my meal I got gnocchi which they make in house. My husband is very picky and had never tried gnocchi but he had a bite and thought it was really good too! My husband got a pepperoni pizza. My son enjoyed some crust. We left saying we can't believe we hadn't been here before and need to come back to try more things! Came here last weekend for a birthday celebration. The place is small and loud! I usually don't mind if it's loud but this was almost club level loud. The patrons next to us were yelling over each other to talk, I couldn't even hear myself think. Out of all the food we ordered only one person liked their meal. I ordered the grilled salmon on Risotto and veggies. The Risotto was so gross! It tasted like it was cooked with tap water, like a dirty rag. My mother in law ordered the same dish and had the same complaint. The only good thing on that plate was the Veggies which I did not eat because the rest of the plate left a bad taste in my mouth. My son ordered the chicken Parm, another miss, very soggie with the same taste as the risotto. The margarita pizza was not good either. The service was just ok. I did not finish my plate. After the first two bites I stopped eating it. The waiter came to ask if we wanted boxes, didn't even noticed my untouched plate. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. We are from out of town and found this place on Yelp. What a great pick. It's a small little mom and pop owned place. It's very quaint and cute. The food was amazing as we got all the waitress picks. Ashley was our waitress and she was amazing. She was very attentive to us and always checked on us. The antipasto salad was good and so was the garlic cheese bread for appetizers. So my friend and I stumbled across this place. We decided on a whim to come in. We were able to be seated right away. The ambiance is nice but it is a little loud. I liked that we could see part of the kitchen activity. It appeared to possibly be family owned and operated? The service was good. I wouldn't say fabulous or over the top amazing, but I was impressed that the manager, or possibly the owner, came over at the end of the meal to ask how everything was. She also told us a little bit about the history behind the restaurant. Now for the food: Shrimp Risotto... Only ok. I wouldn't order it again. The shrimp was well seasoned and perfectly cooked but the risotto itself was bland and needed more seasoning. The rice was cooked nicely but it was definitely lacking flavor. The truffle Garlic bread was amazing. I would definitely get it again. The truffle isn't overwhelming and it has a perfect blend of cheese and garlic. The Rigatoni Vodka was very good... The added ricotta on top added some nice flavor... However the cold temp of the cheese compared to the rest of the dish was a little off. My friend got this with shrimp. It was well cooked. The Pasta Tuscan style was amazing. The flavors blended beautifully together. I'm super picky with my cream butter sauces but this was amazing. The chicken, bell peppers and mushrooms added the perfect dynamic and flavor. I would definitely get this dish again. The flour is imported from Italy and they make all their sauces, pasta and bread in house. It was very delicious and I would definitely come again. read more

We had three pizzas - two Americanas, a custom one, an order of sautéed vegetables and the meatballs appetizer. Service was a little slow. It took well over 15 minutes to get our meals delivered. The pizzas were very good and came out flaming hot. The crust was very tasty. The side of vegetables had a nice amount of garlic, were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The problem we had was with the meatball appetizer. It was ordered as part of a meal and it came out not even lukewarm, more like kitchen cold. We asked the server to heat them up and they returned only a few minutes later with the partially eaten meatball replaced with as new one and all were as cold or colder. Not to look like a jerk I ate them anyway however in retrospect I should have returned them again and just eaten some of my better half pizza instead. The small crostini that came with it were also soggy and cold. They must not use thermometers to check temperatures or their holding bin was broken because I' ve never returned cold food to have it brought back as cold or colder. All night long I kept waiting to have stomach problems from it and luckily did not! We'll probably return since the pizza was so good however I'll bring a thermometer next time just in case! read more

Most concerning was witnessing a waitress repeatedly wipe her nose with her hands--no tissue, no handwashing. It was unhygienic and unacceptable. One in our party ordered Shrimp Risotto... another the Pasta Tuscan Style... And, I ordered the Lobster Ravioli... AMAZING!!! We made a pact to come back and try everything on the menu!!! Cool kitschy location, away from the Desert Ridge traffic, still in the same corridor, indoor, outdoor seating with roll up doors opening into the main bar. My wife and I were looking for a local mom and pop eatery after a long day at a retirement seminar. We were also hoping to avoid the rush hour traffic. Well, we found it! It is a smallish, quaint cafe' with a great vibe, good taste in music, and good tasting food and libations. We enjoyed happy hour at the cozy bar. My fiancé found this spot when we were out to brunch and we decided to give it a shot tonight. We normally love our old Italian spot Tomasos but this is literally 6 minutes from our house and the menu was small which meant it was probably good. We made reservations for 5pm on a Saturday and wanted a booth which they accommodated but it was a half booth, half not booth situation so I asked if we could get seated at a separate table as the folks next to us was pretty close. Could be awkward in conversations haha Everyone was really nice and we didn't wait long to be assisted at our table. It is smaller on the inside but they used the space very well. We started with the Bruschetta, you can pick three and we did the traditional, hometown and prosciutto. All 3 were amazing but if I could get another round I would do the traditional and the prosciutto only cause that salty and sweet combo with the fig jam is great. The hometown was good but the spreadable salami was too spicy for me and I normally love a good spice haha! I wanted to try the pizza but already had pizza last night so I got the lasagne and my fiancé got the pasta Tuscan style. The portions were pretty large especially for the lasagne. My fiancé thoroughly enjoyed his meal and for the most part I did too, the lasagne wasn't bad at all but it had a weird after taste. I took the leftovers home regardless. However, I probably should have had the pizza instead as they cook it in a stone oven which is cool! You can see it from my pic! I would suggest they do a small bread basket of Italian bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for folks while they wait for their food. Also, we weren't told what the happy hour was and I don't know if I missed it on the website but lunch had hours and happy hour didn't. I had this place bookmarked since it appeared on Check Please a while back. Not sure what happened, but it does not seem like the scratch kitchen that was referenced on the show. My only guess would be that they are taking short cuts and the next show will be with Gordon Ramsey. Food: Chicken Parm was not made in house. It had the consistency of a reconstituted chicken patty, with little flavor. Rigatoni Vodka had sauce that may have at one point been vodka, but runny and either watered down or reheated from frozen. Other food choices for the group were similar in taste and quality. The only winner here was a decent pizza, which was light on cheese but good crust. At $15 it's was a pretty good deal and much better than quick stop pizza joints. Service was excellent, but not enough to offset the really poor performance of the food. Even Olive Garden does a better job. So I hope the owner/chef gets this place on course. read more

This is such a hidden gem in north Scottsdale. I loved my visit here. This is the place for any type of meal (date, get together, solo, etc). The food was hands down some of the best Italian I've had in the Phoenix area. Drinks - - Negroni: Was good! Tasted a bit sweet - (Cannot remember the name): Take on a lemon drop! It had Tanqueray, Limoncello, and lemon juice and it was a nice refreshing cocktail. Food - - Chef's Board: Filled with 4 types of meat, 1 cheese, walnuts, marinated red peppers, olives, and grilled bread. I enjoyed the selection but felt it could have had another cheese on it to make it well rounded. - Calabrese Pizza: So. Good! I loved the crust itself (chewy, crispy yet soft) and the touch of honey to make it the perfect combo of savory & sweet. - Gnocchi Sorrentina: The pillowy texture of this pasta was a delight! I got it with sausage and really enjoyed the combination together. - Cannoli: This was the perfect ending to our evening! The cannolis were not too sweet and had that perfect touch of Nutella filling. The ambiance was dark inside but had a romantic vibe to it. The open kitchen to look in the back was a great touch to the atmosphere seeing the chefs in action! Hannah did an excellent job servicing our table!
