We made a reservation to come to your establishment on Saturday 09/27/2025 for the patio. We left early from our home in Southeast Chandler right around 5:15pm. As we made our way on the 101 heading North, we see that we need to exit do to the freeway being closed. The sky got very dark, lightening all around and then the rain started. Once we were off the freeway, taking the back streets, we called you to let you know we were running late. There was no mention of oh by the way, our patio is closed and your reservation has been canceled. We continued on and we arrived at 6:45pm. We called again to let YOU know that we would be in as soon as the rain let up. At that time, we were told the patio was closed. To our disappointment, we couldn't come in. We had our small dog, Snugs with us and specifically told you when we made the reservation. Not only did we drive 45 mins, there was no I'm sorry, how can we do better. Well, tonight was a rather disappointing meal. In a time crunch we ordered a margarita pizza for pick up while we were driving home. Estimated time 20 - 25 minutes but we were able to pick up after 16 minutes. Great, get the kids to bed, this should help to be fast. But when we opened the box at home :-( the pizza was not ready for consumption. I mean, look at the totally burnt crust. Same thing underneath :-( I like it crispy, but this was just burnt. I don't write reviews often but I felt compelled to share my experience at SFIZIO. Having spent a good amount of time in Italy, I can confidently say that this place delivers the real deal when it comes to Italian cooking. From the moment you step in the door you're transported to a quaint italian eatery that exudes authenticity. The dishes are made with ingredients imported from Italy and the pastas and sauces are all made from scratch. I tried the Rigatoni Vodka, which was cooked perfectly, a creamy sauce that had just the right balance. The truffle garlic bread is a must try too!! I saw and spoke to the owners working and the sense of family and pride is what sets sfizio apart from other usual "chain" experiences you might get elsewhere. Sfizio Modern Italian Kitchen is located in Phoenix in a strip mall basically across the street from Desert Ridge Mall. Everything we tried was good and some things were above average. Even the service was good. We tried the eggplant rollatini, the stone fired bread, braised short ribs, and cannoli. The standouts might have been the eggplant rollatini, the risotto, and the cannoli with those amazing pistachios. Side note - I wanted to try this place because it's not too far and I saw them on TV with the most amazing looking lasagnas that I've ever seen. On my visit they didn't offer most of these lasagnas.......?????? Oh well maybe they are a special once in a while???? Nice restaurant. Good portions and great prices. Worth a try! read more

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The place is easy to find and very welcoming. We sat on the patio and it was so nice out. We got a few chefs boards for the table which had various meats, cheese, nuts and fruits. Everything was fresh and high quality. The pastas we got were the tagliatelle bolognese which had their house made pasta and plenty of bolognese sauce. Fantastic!! The pasta Tuscan style was a cream sauce with chicken, mushrooms and roasted peppers. I don't really care for cream sauce but it was well liked by others. The house salad was fresh and had a great herb vinaigrette. I also added grilled chicken and it was perfect. Overall, great friendly atmosphere and delicious food! I enjoyed the panini from the lunch menu! The server did let me know it would not be like a regular panini, and I was glad he let me know. It's more of an open-faced sandwich with thick bread that is slightly hollowed out and filled with the meat and sauce. The really nice thing is that you can choose two types of panini in one order so I tried the sausage and the meatball. Both were great, hard to say which was my favorite. The panini also came with a tiny side of salad which was unexpected but very tasty. I would definitely come here for lunch again! read more

First time here. Its in the back of a small shopping plaza. Plenty of parking, but that might be cuz I went later in the evening. Walked in and it's super cute and cozy and smells nice in here. Not sure of the fragrance, but I liked it! There's a long bar that is super inviting. Some tables in the middle. In the back is the fire to make pizzas. I was helped by almost everyone working there! Everyone was nice, welcoming, and friendly without being pushy or overly attentive. I ordered the seafood pasta. I was pleasantly surprised the seafood was good--especially, the shrimp. I was also pleasantly surprised how much I liked the sauce. I noticed there were actual pieces of fresh garlic so it feels and tastes home cooked vs store bought or canned. The pasta they make in house and I enjoyed it. Not bomb.com, but it was good. I would rate this a 4.5 due to the ambiance, service, value, and food, but I rounded it up. We brought the whole family for dinner at Sfizio while college boy was still in town visiting after the holidays. It was about 5:15 pm and there were two tables occupied when we arrived, a quiet Monday, January 2nd.  Hostess acted genuinely bothered by our presence without a reservation tonight.  The young man with the menus had a wide smile and took us over to our table, but alas, our cheerless hostess was also our server. Upon placing our drink orders I discovered it was not happy hour at the tables, only at the bar located a mere six feet from my table.  I was disappointed because I had my tastes set for a shrimp risotto item from that menu and the discounted house wines.  Server promptly informed me I could not even order this dish from the regular menu at full price either, it was only available on the happy hour menu at the bar, six feet from my table. So I held my concerns, and quietly ordered a $10 Chianti, and full priced starters.    Arancini with three meat ragu inside, was accompanied by a bright, fresh tomato sauce.   Unfortunately, one of these three meats is pork (food sensitivity) and I had to scrape out the filling.  But the crispy rice balls were tasty and the sauce was tremendous!  The kitchen clearly knows what they are doing.   For the table to share, I ordered the stone fired bread, described on the menu as a loaf.  For $5 it was not a loaf, but a few thin and small oiled and grilled bread slices that were promptly devoured by my giant teenage boys. I also ordered the truffle garlic cheese bread.  It was also a quickly consumed hit with the family, and the portion seemed more reasonable for its $8 price.  Spouse also ordered an Italian farm salad, which was loaded with fresh veggies and meats (pork).  I had several forks full of green salad and really enjoyed the flavor.  He particularly complimented the dressing, perhaps a house vinaigrette. This was a large $14 dish and a complete meal in itself, a good value.  I chose the chicken piccata and asked if I could sub (plain) risotto for the side pasta.  Hooray!  Our server said yes (but didn't warn me about the $2 substitution charge).   This was a small, thin piece of chicken in sauce, slightly overcooked and barely lemony.  The risotto was very good with the exception of too many capers. I also had a side of Calabrian broccolini which was prepared perfectly crisp tender with mild seasoning.  I added cheese and red pepper to taste and loved the dish.     Spouse ordered tagliatelle Bolognese (3 meats, including pork), and had barely any leftovers from his generous pasta portion. Even after the big farm salad.  Son #1 ordered the chicken parmesan with pasta.  Although the menu describes a creamy side, this was red sauce which was fine. He had no complaints and had plenty of leftovers as he is a small appetite. Son #2 ordered the short rib rigatoni, which surprised me because at home he is a plain red sauce guy.  He ate it all and has talked about it multiple times in the week since. He absolutely loved this dish and wants to know if I can make it at home. I did get to taste some of the short rib and it was very tender, but shredded into small pieces in the red sauce instead of served as a short rib on pasta. He removed the accompanying burrata cheese, it went home with someone else's leftovers. Son #3 ordered the Americana pizza, hold the mushroom.  Sliced Italian sausage and pepperoni made this a perfect pie for him.  The crust was bubbled and blistered from the wood oven, gorgeous and chewy.  Sauce was great, again the kitchen has got mad skills.   Each of the entrees was around $22 except the short rib, a very fair price in this upscale North Phoenix resort area neighborhood. Portions were generous, except for the bread.  I was disappointed to see the salmon entree on the website dinner menu is no longer on the restaurant dinner menu, and that so many of the dishes have pork included in the ragu sauce.  Sfizio is a mixed experience.  Excellent cooking with very few misses.  Service was lacking and not oriented to solutions that will please the customer.  Between the bread and "happy hour at the bar only rule", this local family restaurant won't be a regular stop for our gang.  I spoke with the owner by email about my detailed feedback and she indicated they would seriously look into the issues I mentioned.  The kitchen rocks, so I hope they are successful! read more

Wanted desperately to believe the excellent reviews. I'm an east coast native with Italian immigrant grandparents and get (overly) sensitive and critical of Italian restaurants. But hoo-wee. You guys. It was awesome. Pasta was perfectly Al dente. Eggplant was cooked without being mushy and the sauce was a good combo of sweet and savory. I was so happy. This is a gem that isn't even on TripAdvisor. It's so easy to get to. Walking in, it's simple in its charm with fresh flowers on each table. But that's where the simplicity ends. I ordered the Short rib rigatoni. It was flavorful, with big chunks of meat in a meaty complex sauce. My wife had the Lasagne Al forno, delicious layers built of fresh pasta, cheese and a great bolognese sauce; a very upscale taste. They have a Very good wine list. We went with Chianti wine, a very good pairing with the pasta. The Caesar salad Met expectations; nothing exceptional here. Good salad Yummy desserts top it all off. The chocolate and coffee tastes married deliciously in the tiramisu. The Cannolis offered Three different creamy fillings that will please any palate. They're light and yummy. Let's not forget about our wonderful server, Shandra--Knowledgeable on wine pairing, Sweet personality, Efficient in service, and Good food recommendations. I went to Sfizio on a Monday evening with 2 of my friends. There was no one else in the restaurant when we arrived and we chose to sit at the bar. We split a bottle of wine and a board they offer as an appetizer. In addition to all of this I also ordered an amaretto sour. My sour was odd! It tasted like an amaretto but did not look like one. The wine was nice and light and the board was a nice size to split between 3 people. We then chose to order dinner for us all to take home. We ordered a pizza, vodka pasta, and the chicken parm. The pasta was nice, the chicken parm was small given the price, and the pizza was dry. I am really hoping we just ordered wrong. read more

My first time here, and I chose for out of town guests based on cuisine, location, and prior reviews. I was so impressed with Sfizio. I was a bit concerned about being able to get a reservation for five on fairly short notice during Spring Training, but needn't have worried. The food and service were spotless, with good sized portions and so tasty. I had the Eggplant Tortino, sort of a take on eggplant parmigiana, but both delicate and cheesy, without any heavy eggplant texture as sometimes happens. Around the table were the Short Rib Rigatoni, Tagliatelle Bolognese and two other dishes that I don't remember. Good sized and interesting salads, along with their Truffle Garlic Bread. All so good... And as a bonus, we had a birthday at the table, so out came a really good, comped, tiramisu big enough for the five of us to have a few forkfuls each.
