You get the all you can eat hotpot or hotpot/ grill combo then just make your way to grabbing everything you like. They also have conveyors that run around with veg and noodles so you don't have to get up for that. They serve alcohol as well so that's a plus for me. For the price I think you get great value as with other locations you have to buy a plate of each items versus you being able to just try a little of everything. We love bbq grilling; so excited. We were not disappointed by the soup flavors selections nor the seasoning they had for the grill meats! We are definitely going again and again! We got in, and got seated right away. It was definitely packed. They had their veggies on the conveyor belt that comes around and some noodles on the belt as well. The meats were on the bar so you can just go make your sauce at the bar and grab the meats you want to cook from the bar. I felt like they had a pretty good variety. They had beef, pork, chicken, and a few varieties of seafood. I did my hot pot with the golden chicken soup broth and didn't think it was bad. Keep in mind, this is a cook your own food type place. However, it would have been helpful if she had given us some information and recommendations on what to do, what bases we should choose, etc. the reason this would have been nice is because we were first timers. Also, as a vegetarian- having recommendations for that could have been helpful. Every person at the table has to pay for the grilling and the soup if even one person wants the grilling - that's a rip off for the vegetarian at the table! Shabu, Shabu...Don't mind if I do! We stopped by during Father's Day so you know it was busy. Took awhile for someone to greet us (to be fair the person that did had multiple jobs that day). Place looks small up front but when you go the back, lots of seating! Lots to choose from if you go soup or grill! Our server was awesome but had to track him down a few times. But it's a holiday and I think they are understaff because it was really busy and the staff was hustling - you saw them running everywhere to help someone. The sushi was good and all ingredients were fresh! Lots of great labels on food item and so many sauces to choose from! I do think the conveyor belt openings at the table are too big and open (too bad they don't have the ones from Sushi Train) because little hands were trying to grab things and fun germs. Cream puffs were good and so was this coffee cake dessert as well (light and rich). Few Tips: * The conveyor belts are different here. They all carry different items. We didn't realize till later that Bok Choy and Noodles were on another belt - just ask a server if hou need an ingredient. * Ask for steam rice if you need it * Your clothes may smell after - ventilation wasn't great and someone near us was grilling seafood (not shrimp but something else). *If you see tongs drop inside a raw meat container, make sure to let a server know so they can remove them and get a new one. What started as a pretty decent experience ended horribly. The restaurant was extremely busy when we went in. The first hostess asked how many in our party, we said two. Then she grabbed two menus and said hold on and then just walked off. Another came up and seated us. We began eating and about half way through this is where it takes a turn. At the table next to us a lady jumped up and another squealed a little and then my wife and both of them point at the ground and about a 1" long roach was crawling across the floor. All three were saying to kill it, so I stopped eating and stepped on it to kill it. One of the ladies said it crawled across her leg under the table. This killed all of our appetites. The restaurant is big with plenty of parking, but the booth seating was cramped--six people (2 kids, 4 adults) sharing one grill was uncomfortable, and we were stuck by the kitchen door, which felt unsafe. Some items weren't clearly marked, and the sauces were confusing since nothing was well defined. Service was slow, broths were just okay, and the place already looked a little rundown for being new. Great addition to Murfreesboro! My family and I tried the hot pot and it was good considering we had some picky eaters! I tried the tom yum, tonkotsu, szechuan, and curry broth. I personally ordered the szechahan and absolutely loved. It was very flavorful! Like another reviewer mentioned. The service here is nonexistent but luckily it's more of a help yourself type of place. I noticed there were about 5-6 tables on a Monday morning and they were really slow on refilling the beef and when they did, it would just be very little enough for a table or so. Parking - plenty! Located at the Avenue right next to Barnes and Noble. This is family friendly place but if you're using the grill, just keep an eye on the little ones. No reservations, be ready to wait if they're busy. There are a lot of grills so it will move quickly. You can sit in a different area if you're just having the hot pot and more than likely it will move faster or no wait at all. I like that you can make everything your own dish. Flat charge depending which one you decide to go (hot pot or grill or both). But if one person in your party wants to grill, everyone has to grill. Otherwise they will split you. Buffet style if you're grilling. The options are also plenty. There is meat, sea food, veggies, sushi, dessert, toppings and more. The service can improve. Our waitress didn't explain anything to us. So at first we're were lost. Even after telling her that it was our first time, she still wasn't helpful at all. The combination of hotpot and grill omg.. it was a lot for me! I was soo overwhelm I didn't know what to do or what to start with. I like how the table has both. The belt has all your noodles and veggies and then you get your meats for the grill and the hotpot from the buffet area. I will say that it's hard to tell which is for which. Maybe label which is for hotpot bs grill, or if it can be used for both. My other disappointment would be that on the menu it says u limited hotpot broth as long as you stick with the same one, but when I asked for more she just filled it up with chicken broth. That I wasn't pleased with what about the other flavor of it. Overall it was a good experience, next time I know how to mange both although not sure if I really need both but if one person at the table gets it's the whole table has to. Very much the same as the Nashville location, which is a good thing. Main difference is this place is much more spacious and lots more seating. Good selection of meats for both the barbecue and the hotpot. I thought the Nashville one had more ingredients to build your dipping sauces, but I could be mistaken. The only problem I had was with the service. It was very slow, barely were checked on, and had to flag a person down to get our grill changed because it had been blowing smoke for some time with nobody giving us a new one. I chalk it up to being recently opened and/or not enough staff. I'll still come back, just hope they get the service issues taken care of. read more

This is one of our favorite places to eat. They have a buffet of fresh meats and vegetables that you can pick and bring to your table to cook while eating. They also have a hot pot food train that goes around the restaurant. We went on Valentine's Day and they gave the women a rose that day. I thought that was nice. You pick your soup base (assuming you're there for the shabu shaba like we were), you go grab your various proteins and add ins, make your your own dipping sauce from the many options, and you can grab fresh veggies and stuff from the conveyor belt. This all might be user error, but don't come here if you don't enjoy cooking. It was pretty complicated and the vast majority of meat selection was unseasoned. Making your own sauces is ridiculous. The staff were unhelpful, as my party was full of only first-timers. We needed guidance and didn't receive clarity after any question asked. It was ridiculous, actually. The ambiance is overstimulating and the hot plates in front of you are smelly and steamy. I would not recommend this place, or go here again. It was $120 for three people, excluding tip. UPDATE: dinner ~ Tip: make sure you want to get there as early as possible. If you want to eat at 7:00 go 10-15 min early for the wait time. If the wait is 45 min or more, it's ok. It really doesn't take that long. Wait for about 20-25 min check back even if you do not get the text message. TIP: They now serve beer: if you're not closely paying attention it is taped where the conveyor belt is. When we first went they didn't have beer, maybe waiting for the liquor license? Who knows?! But you won't see it on the menu. TIP: don't be afraid to ask... do you have beer? Do you have rice? Do you have soup spoons? Dinner was basically the same as lunch. But with a better selection of meats to grill. We chose the Shabu Shabu again. This time the conveyor belt was running with limited items that are easy to put in your hot pot. Like mushrooms, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, rice noodles, soba noodles and ramen noodles among other vegetables. We brought our 13 yr old who is a picky eater. She LOVED it! She chose the Tonkastu, me the Miso and my husband the Spicy one and chose the "hot" setting for level of spiciness. Well, they are true to their level of spicy food. We'll have been to "asian" restaurants that claim spicy food and ask the "level" of spicy that doesn't live up to the claim. Not Shabu Shabu! So, if you're not familiar with the levels the "hot" is really spicy! Which is a good thing for us! The service ~ same level of attention is given to each customers. The service that keeps the table free of used plates and bowls comes often which is a plus for a tight area to put used plates and bowls. It can get pretty cluttered quick! Not even with a busy restaurant like this! Food ~ so delish! We were stuffed! But again with the sushi it's "ok" the dessert can be better but because you get so full from the meal the sizes of the dessert is perfect! The ONLY critique I have is the robot cat not delivering the drinks. But I do understand why. It's too crowded for that and well utilized during lunch time! So, if you want to experience the cat robot to deliver your drink, go have lunch at Shabu Shabu! It was our first time at the newly opened Shabu Shabu in the Avenue at Murfreesboro. The reason for a 4 Star and not a 5 well, because as someone who's familiar with Shabu Shabu (lived in Japan for over 6 years) this particular one is a bit different. It's an all you can eat and you pick your own vegetables, meat, and spices. What I did like was the "soup" base have different flavors. I chose the miso soup my husband chose the tonkatsu base. Both were good flavors. There is a conveyer belt on the side which reminded me of when I was in a sushi restaurant in Japan. Just pick the sushi you want and it will be automatically added to your bill. But it's only used for dinner. Not only do they have the "hot pot" but also a grill for grilling the vegetables and meat if you wish. Now this is not traditional Shabu Shabu but it was a delightful surprise. They also have sushi which is something I would not get from an "all you can eat" situation. The dessert is nothing to be impressed about. The puff stuffed pastry was not fresh. The pastry was dry the filling was meh. Store bought quality. The surprise is the robot that brought your specialty drink. The staff were a delight they were attentive and very friendly. Our party of four arrived on a Saturday night around 7:30, which I would imagine is one of their busier times. We were told the wait time was about 25 minutes. The host took our telephone number and said they would call when a table was available. Since there is a Barnes & Noble store next door, we made our way there to browse while we waited. We were called about 25-30 minutes later and told our table was available. We were seated around a table that contains four heating elements for pots with broth and a grill in the center. The waitress took our drink orders and then asked if we wanted just the Shabu Shabu, the grill, or both. Since this is our first visit, we chose to do both. (I think it costs about five dollars extra to get both.) The waitress then took our broth orders. There are no beer, wine, or other alcohol options. There are various Boba and fruit tea options, as well as sodas and water. Our drinks and the broths were delivered promptly. The waitress told us to help ourselves to the extensive array of food. As a first timer, the process was initially a bit confusing, but it did not take us long to figure it out. There is a large buffet section where there are various raw meats and seafood options, limited prepared sushi options, gyoza, desserts, and an area with various sauce options where you can create your own dipping sauce. There are plates and bowls under each section. A conveyor runs alongside the tables with bowls containing various vegetables. You load your plates with whatever you choose, return to your table, and either place the food in the broth or use the grill to cook your food. You have to play close attention with the grill, as it is extremely hot and lends to easily burning whatever you are grilling. The meats are thinly sliced and cook very quickly on the grill. Once food burns on the grill, the grill surface becomes pretty much unusable. (Our waitress did replace the grill surface at one point, which was very helpful.) I think we would likely not choose the grill option if we return. I wasn't especially impressed with the broth options. I chose the Szechuan Spicy broth. The flavor reminded me of some of the spicier instant ramen broths I have eaten. It wasn't bad, but it didn't offer the complexity I expected. My son chose the Miso broth, which he said was bland. My wife had the Sukiyaki broth, and my daughter chose the Tom Yum broth, and they both said they enjoyed their selections. The limited sushi options were okay. They only offer maybe six or so different roll options, but the pieces I tried were tasty. The desserts included various pieces of fruit and a few pastry options. I doubt anyone comes here for the desserts, anyway. I liked the "create your own sauce" options, although I would imagine it could be quite "hit-or-miss" if you have limited experience with what flavor combinations work well together. There are several containers with ladles where you can dip sauces. There are thai chilis, sliced jalapeños, chopped scallions, cilantro, chopped garlic, etc. There are also bottles of soy sauce, sesame oil, and fish sauce available to add to your sauce. This was my first hot pot experience, but I have dined at fondue places. I was surprised at the lack of instructions provided here. There were no warnings about being careful with handling raw meat. There were no recommendations for how to go about doing anything. The restaurant is noisy, and there is a good amount of chaos, as one might expect. This is more of a festive type place, and certainly not a quiet, laid-back dining experience. A certain amount of sensory overload should be expected. According to the menu, there is a two-hour limit for dining, but I can't imagine that being a problem for anyone. We enjoyed the whole experience, and we were glad we went. However, I don't know that it is something we would do again, or at least not very often. It is pretty expensive, although it IS all you can eat. The total for our party of four was over $150 with tax. Dining at Shabu Shabu is definitely an interesting experience, but whether it is one you might find enjoyable will vary, depending on what you want and expect. Personally, for the price and the quality of food, I think there are better options in Murfreesboro. read more

The Shabu Shabu concept is great but it took us two times to really understand the best way to do it so this last visit went really well. They offer a plethora of meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and broths to make a delicious hot pot. After you order your broth, go get your proteins and vegetables. In addition, they have a conveyor that has various noodles and vegetables that you can choose from. A lesson I had to learn, don't overload your pot.
