AYCE shabu/hotpot! The service was nice and the meat quality was great. We had the sukiyaki and tonkatsu broth. The sauces were okay. The veggies and other selections were also okay but a good enough variety. We ended up getting the AYCD option as well. HAHA and made sure we drank over $15 each to make it worth it. But it was a solid meal, and the kids ate well. So that's a win!

AYCE Japanese (shabu) hot pot restaurant in downtown Sacramento! These places are less common than Chinese & Korean hot pot. Food: High quality - fresh wholesome ingredients from the meat cuts, seafood to the vegetables. Not a very large menu / rather limited options comparing to other hot pot places. Decent amount of drink options especially since there is a bar. Ambience: Bright, cute, wide windows and moderate size Service: Spotty. Sometimes lacking attentiveness and food orders slow to come out.

We paid regular price $43/person. Food was good. Their sauce bar is what made everything taste extra tasty. They should sell that spicy house sauce to-go.

Decent shabu place. The service was on point. We got our food in a timely manner. This place is definitely popular. The meat tasted good. The broth was pretty good. They let you choose up to three broth options which is cool. The lacking part is vegetables. There are not many vegetable selections. It is not great for vegetarian friends. There is no vegetable bar to pick items from. They bring them to you. The sauce bar was also lacking. Not many selections. Quality of the food is really good. Just not a lot of variety with vegetables. Maybe I am spoiled as I have Shabu in the San Gabriel Valley thats super tasty. Decent place. Not bad. I would try it again.

We did the AYCE hot pot and tried both the Spicy Miso and Tonkotsu broths, and they were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, comforting, and perfect for loading up with all the ingredients. We also ordered the Yuzu Sidecar and Guava Breeze cocktails, and both were refreshing and paired really well with the meal. Our server, Alex, he was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure we always had everything we needed throughout the entire lunch. Great service can make all the difference, and Alex definitely helped make our visit memorable. Between the amazing food, great drinks, and outstanding service, we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a fun and delicious hot pot experience in Sacramento! Plus the restaurant decoration is so cute I absolutely love the pink decor.

I am visiting from Socal and it was pretty good! Honestly, price wasn't super worth it cause my sister and I have smaller appetite. We got the AYCE dinner option and the total came out to $90+ tip.... Personally, if you have a smaller appetite, I don't recommend but if you can eat a lot it's definitely worth it! But I got the spicy miso and the spicy sichuan which was super flavorful, and the meats were really tender. The place itself was superrr clean and I loved all the decorations inside. The worker too was also really diligent in serving us and checked up on us constantly.

Roses are red; Violets are blue; Life is short, Eat more Shabu! Came in at 11:30AM and it was pretty much empty! Quick service and seating. We chose the regular AYCE which comes out to $40 ish per person. The vegetable portions are pretty large so start at with just one of each before moving on. I accidentally ordered two of each of the veggie portions and we were unable to finish everything. Staff was also great. Our server was Alex, who was so friendly and attentive! Thanks Alex for being so welcoming and helping with the menu! Beautiful interior with cute pink faux foliage. Spacious and clean. Tons of seating and matching decor. Music wasn't too loud and matched the vibes pretty well. Overall, really good experience and I will definitely come back with my friends. I haven't tried the drink menu yet but I will eventually! This definitely seems like more of a nighttime dinner catch up with friends place. Parking is a bit harder to find since there's no immediate lot but I would just park at the DOCO garage or find street parking and walk over. Thank you Shabu Shack!

Excellent service from Lang. Food tasted fresh and was great. Will definitely be back.

Things i like about this restaurant: -The interior was nice -The sesame sauce and their shack sauce was really good! -Meat was quality -service was on top of it!

I can just sunrise in a few words.... freaking awesome! Yeah! First timer here and I was very impressed with the service and the quality of the food, not to mention the experience of shabu. Great place for a fun, interactive and casual date. Faith and Neff were great when it came to service.

First time going and definitely not the last time going. Had an amazing experience and the best server of all time.

My first time coming here and it won't be my last time. Recommend coming here for the vibes and for the eats, the server here was super amazing, he suggested multiple things which were super good.

Cilantro ponzu sauce with veggies and dumplings
    Alejandra R.

From start to finish, the food and overall experience were great. You can choose all-you-can-eat or à la carte, which makes it easy to tailor your meal. They offer a huge variety of sauces to pair with your soup, and I have to highlight their lemon pepper wings--perfectly fried with a super crisp crust. Dip them in the cilantro ponzu and it's honestly heavenly. I ordered the tom yum veggie soup and added dumplings and lamb for protein. A splash of that cilantro ponzu in the broth took it to another level. I was a little worried everything would take a long time to cook, but the broth arrives hot and comes to a boil quickly, so everything was ready faster than expected. Service was a bit slow during my visit, but it felt like our server might have just been having an off day. The food and overall experience still made it completely worth it. This was my first visit, and definitely the first of many to come. Shabu Shack won me over.

We got the "special" buy one pound get the next pound free so we did shrimp. We got shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and dungeness crab with the special blend in one bag. The hook and reel special blend was honestly pretty gross it was sweet, Smokey and not very buttery or salty at all. We asked for lemon pepper and extra butter to put inside(which was an extra charge) it made it a little better but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The garlic noodles were really good they had a soy sauce flavor, garlicky and cheesy. The price was pretty expensive considering I've spent $30 less elsewhere. Here at hook & reel I spent $96 The service was good. She was very kind and helpful but also wasn't very attentive. The restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Overall I wouldn't come back and I recommend going to Captain crab in Elk Grove it is so much better tasting and cheaper!!

Right when you walk in, everyone was friendly and welcoming. It was a busy Saturday evening, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was also so friendly, and our food came out FAST and piping hot! In our past experiences at other crab boil restaurants, it can take forever just to get a table, let alone get your food. So we really appreciated how quickly everything came out here! Now, THE FOOD! My hubby and I both got the Dungeness crab with the mild Cajun & garlic butter seasoning. It came with potatoes and corn, and we also added a side of rice and the Cajun fries. The seasoning was SO good! It had plenty of flavor without being overly salty. The crab was delicious and cooked perfectly. And those Cajun fries?! They were super crispy and seasoned to perfection! The only thing I would have changed was that we weren't given any crab crackers or tools to help us get into the crab. We actually thought they didn't have any at first. We later asked and were provided with some, but it would have been nice if they were offered or brought out with our gloves and bibs since we ordered crab. Other than that, I really enjoyed our experience! I especially loved that the restaurant has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to some other crab boil spots. The seats were comfortable, the music wasn't extremely loud, and it still had a fun vibe while being quiet enough for us to actually have a conversation. Overall, I'm giving Captain Crab a 10/10! We'll definitely be back!

Staff just kept walking by and glancing over but did not seem to care. I asked several staff if I can get a towel. Finally the bus boy told me to just move to a different table. They left our first table and floor wet almost the entire time we were there. It was odd, as it wasn't busy at the time and they had plenty of staff. The food was also just ok. Very generous with the shrimp and sausage but the crab portion was pretty sparse and the crabs were salty and not fresh tasting. They were supposed to be 1lb ea but there was only 1 crab cluster with thin legs and the shrimp and sausage were probably a bit over. The corn on the cob was frozen corn not fresh. We also ordered a side of bread and it was half of a roll for $4 and a side of the spicy sauce was $7 (for a small ramekin maybe 3 oz?) The kids still enjoyed the experience but I don't think we will be back here.

10 Years of Marriage & a Great Family Dinner!…read more Last night, my wife Sokny and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with our family, and we couldn't have asked for a better evening! We had dinner at Seafood House Quan Oc, and everyone definitely came hungry! Sokny and our daughter Skylie went with the seafood boil, and it was excellent! The seafood came with a delicious curry-style sauce that had so much flavor. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal! Our niece Maddie and youngest daughter Laila enjoyed the kids' chicken wings and fries, and Maddie also really liked the eggrolls. We shared an appetizer of crab cheese wontons, which were another hit. My mom had the garlic noodles, while I went with the fish fillet with rice and salad -- and it was all great! For drinks, Skylie had a Thai tea, while Sokny tried a Black Superman and a lemon drop. The lemon drop was unfortunately more lemonade than vodka, but hey... we still had a good laugh about it! Overall, the food was fantastic, but what made the night special was simply being together as a family. 10 years of marriage, lots of memories, and many more to come. Thank you to my beautiful wife for sharing this journey with me. I love you, Sokny!

This was many of our groups first time here and Alex started of same way with a slight smile, but he took the time to understand our confusion and began to lighten up once he understood our order and we understood the restaurant and he was a great waiter for the evening since. Thank you for putting up with our confusion! Food- chicken wings I would come back for they are definitely my top 3 I've had from a restaurant. Myself personally I am actually not a big fan with seafood boils because I do not care for all that seasoning, so coming I was quite worried I wouldn't eat anything. Well I caved in to try it with the crawdads, and to my surprise, it is definitely lightly seasoned so I did end up liking it. So, if you do truly like a seafood boil with seasonings and kick, I wouldn't recommend this place as a go to for others, but for myself if I have a craving I will grab my crawdads here. Overall the place is crowded and busy, it's in a busy shopping center. There are a lot of people working here at one time, it just feels that no one is thrilled to work there. We went towards their late shift to closing and to be quite honest I got understand that why they may have that feeling. The manager pulled out flashlights while we were eating to inspect the window cleanliness? Great job with the cleaning, but also not the right time. Also, micro managing the team's cleaning while standing at the counter and pointing at places they are missing (we should not see the from our seats). She definitely needs to work on Leadership, not manager, skillsets, and have her participate and guide team members rather then making it look as if she is looking down on her team. This can change the atmosphere for team engagement, so the greetings are more welcoming and engaging to customers.

First impression - yes, as others have mentioned, the parking is not close or easy to find. You have to drive all the way around the hotel, then locate a valet to open a gate so that you can park. Our table had the ahi nachos which they all reported as very good (I don't eat raw seafood, so I did not try it). We also ordered the crab cakes which were very small, and the sauce on top was VERY spicy. I love crab cakes but these were definitely not the best we've ever had. One of our guests said he enjoyed his steak and scallops entree. Another guest had the fish and chips which he said was good. Next guest ordered an all steak meal which she said she enjoyed. I ordered the skinny margarita, which was not good and I did not continue to drink after the first few sips. I was really excited to order the lobster, as I hadn't had lobster in quite some time. It looked amazing when it arrived, but it was, sadly, overcooked, very difficult to cut and I gave up after a bite. The mashed potatoes and vegetables that accompanied it were good. For $73.00, however, I was greatly disappointed. Our server was hit or miss, and she did not check back on us to ask about our meals which was sadly unexpected. The location is very nice. We took a little stroll after dinner outside by the river. I perused some of the reviews and was astounded at one in particular. This patron gave her entire experience a ONE star because she chose to eat OUTSIDE, at a restaurant on A RIVER, and even though her party found the food and service to be divine, she insulted the restaurant with a one star review because she claimed her party was swarmed throughout their meal by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes that were OUTSIDE! Imagine! (Insert eye roll here!). Unbelievable! And soooo ridiculous! Why not ask to be moved inside when this "overwhelming swarm" first overcame your table and viciously attacked you? And yet this reviewer stayed outside and kept enduring the "mosquito monsoon". Good grief. How in the heck is the restaurant, which AGAIN, is located ON A RIVER, supposed to control those mosquitoes (which plague us ALL when we are outside in warmer weather)? And why claim to have suffered through your meal by these swarms of mosquitoes and not even think to ask to be moved inside? Anyway, it was sad to read such a ridiculous review. About mosquitoes being outside. On a river. Which Scott's surely cannot be held responsible for! Outrageous!

The dressing is light, the cheese is delicious. The pecans are sweet and crunchy. One of my favorite salads ever. Not sure why it's so delicious! 4/5 crab cakes. Small portions but the cakes were flaky and the crispy fried scallions were so good I added to everything. Server was King, he was excellent, taking care of all our needs and so polite. He offered to split our entrees for us when we were having a hard time deciding. 3/5 halibut was sadly not very well flavored. 3.5/5 the ribeye wasn't as good as previous times. A bit chewy and flat. 4.5/5 garlic mashed potatoes with the entree didn't taste very garlicky so we asked the server to double check it was garlic. He came out with a giant replacement serving for us which was awesome and perfect. He indicated the chef added extra garlic which was exactly what we needed. We got a free dessert for our bday girl. She got the mixed berry cobbler complete with a candle and I got a crème brulee. 4/5 crème brulee, one of the better desserts I've had there. We also got a free champagne bottle for her bday l which was a nice touch. Inside was dim and dark but always feels very private. The entrees were less tasty than in prior visits which was a bit disappointing but prior visits were much better than expected so the bar may have been set too high. Hoping the food will be back on point next time, but overall still a solid visit.
