Went after SacAnime and it was fairly empty. Very large restaurant with plenty of seating. Despite having one TV, it gave sports bar vibes. Didn't realize they honored happy hour but got popcorn chicken for like $5 with my beer! The service was very fast and efficient. The popcorn chicken was crisp and seasoned well. The XLB were juicy but maybe a touch bland - the dumpling sauce at the table was also too sweet for my taste. The spicy pork wontons were just okay - I think there was too much sesame paste in it or something (also hard to beat DTF's). The stir fried string beans were still nice and snappy. I wouldn't recommend the udon. So much black pepper and the meat was almost nonexistent. There was so much onion and bell peppers, it felt off balance. Overall, it was just okay, more like 3.5 stars. Probably wouldn't come back unless I was looking to drink and have XLB.
Downtown Sacramento has a delicious dumpling house that I was excited to try. Dumpling King is located in the former location of Station 16 in the heart of downtown. I arrived at that weird hour where it was a little too late for lunch, a little too early for dinner, but right on time if I'd wanted happy hour. Their happy hour starts at 2:30 pm. The restaurant was not surprisingly, empty, and when I was seated, it was weird that I was put in a side booth that was rather dark as opposed to sitting more in the center of the restaurant where is lighter and brighter. The server was very attentive, and had great timing with the menu, taking my order, and then bringing out my food. I originally planned on trying dumplings, but when I spotted two of my favorite go to food items, I quickly pivoted to those. I ordered the fried green beans and the honey walnut shrimp. Everything is made in house, and I was told that they don't serve pre-frozen food items. Happy words to my ears. The fried green beans are very lightly breaded, and the green beans themselves are closer to al dente They were tasty, but they could've used basic seasoning like salt and pepper. Neither were on my table. I did enjoy the sweet dipping sauce, and it definitely has been one of the better ones that I've had in restaurants. The honey walnut shrimp admittedly, I was hesitant to order because frankly, it's pretty pricey, and my experience an other restaurants ordering this, has been hit or miss lately. This was a wonderful surprise. When the plate arrived at the table, I can tell you that this is absolutely a shareable, and I highly recommend it. There was a very generous portion of perfectly glazed shrimps, lightly covered in sauce. I could absolutely taste the freshness, and the batter wasn't greasy. It was lightly coated and perfectly fried. What I really loved was the attention to the presentation. Freshly steamed broccoli, surrounded the shrimps, with a light amount of walnuts at the very top. The dishes absolutely worth the price and it was delicious. I'm looking forward to going back and trying their dumplings and some of the other dishes listed on their fairly extensive menu. They haven't really changed the decor much from the previous owner, and it definitely is a great place to go on a date, with friends or family. Bring the whole gang! I definitely will be back!
Felt weird going into station 16 and it's a dumpling spot now. But the dumplings were pretty solid. The spicy wonton are a must get, the soup dumplings will fill a craving but I've had better. Stopped in on a weekday evening just before Happy Hour was ending. welcomed in and seated quickly in a booth our server very nice and helpful with the menu and quick service. The dining area huge with tables and nice booths and a full bar. Menu and Specialty drinks looked great. what we ordered: first the Shrimp Tempura felt like a store bought baked in a oven and the dipping sauce with a sweet tangy sauce. pan fried pork and cabbage potstickers had a nice crust on the top and tender steamed on the bottom it was tasty adding a bit of chili oil Shrimp and Pork soup dumplings was okay and saved room for the cute little piggy character custard bao's for dessert so fluffy with the warm custard. overall it was okay will have to return to try other items on the menu like their beef , pork chicken and noodle dishes , fried rice and dry pot
Located Downtown, off 16th street so Street and/paid parking only. Short distance walk from three Capitol. Lots of food options. Everything was delicious. My favorite from what we ordered would be the cumin beef.
Modern and spacious Chinese restaurant that offers big portion. I don't believe there was anything here that we ordered that we didn't like, although the peanut butter noodles were what pushed us over the top in terms of fullness. Service was nice and we were frequently checked in on. We were almost at the point of over ordering to which our server said "this is a lot of food" so we cooled down, and I'm glad we listened because it was A LOT.
Another revolving door in Sacramento, this time filled with a modern Chinese restaurant. This restaurant has so much space inside with plenty of tables, booths, and bar seating. We arrived on a Thursday around dinner time and found it scarcely populated. The staff were extremely sweet and excited to have customers. I think this would be a good place to host a party or a large group but I'm wondering if they do that often. Overall, the ambience skewed, very modern, Asian, almost a club vibe based on the decor and lighting. We ordered the pork chili wonton, which was excellent. It had great flavor and the wonton skins were soft. I was interested in trying the dry pot, so we tried the shrimp one. There were a lot of veggies and bean sprouts along with the shrimp. The shrimp had excellent fried texture and the dish overall was extremely flavorful and spicy. My friend believed that there was a very strong ginger flavor, but I think we eventually realized it was just Szechuan seasoning. We also ordered some pork Xiao long bao. I was very happy to see that you could order them in portions of five for $10.95 instead of nine. It served as a nice appetizer. I hope this place does well, but I can't imagine it will last that long based on the amount of clientele.
So sad. The food had great flavor. It was just way too oily. Ask for extra napkins so you can soak up all the oil. There was so much oil. Just look at the table. Just sliding the plate. Heart attack on a chopstick.

Ate some mapo tofu and westlake soup the first time. Yo, the mapo tofu is suuuupper numbing. Perfect. Coulda taken more heat but it was late so it was good for no heartburn. I think it was on the saltier side but couldn't tell because I was so numb westlake soup was very clean flavor. Savory and perfect when it was cold out. Our server I believe was Cece and she was nice and attentive. Second time I came I learned they had a 5 dumpling for 6$ special. I wasn't sure if it's a weekly or daily special but I was there on a Monday evening. The soup dumplings were yummy!! Good bite to the wrapper and enough filling and soup. They ran out of olives for my dirty martini but that's okay, I still got good briney flavor from the drink. Then we got the cumin lamb (cece recommended for the next time I arrive). Shrimp fried rice and scallion pancake. I loooved the cumin lamb! Soo savory. And the fried rice balanced it out, good light flavor and not oily. Scallion pancake was standard, nothing too extravagant. Our server this time was K and she was so much fun!!! Attentive to us and other guests and added to the experience. Thanks and I look for to bringing more friends to try more menu items!
Lots of street parking. Nice large interior. Outdoor seating available. It's pretty spacious, so you don't feel so cramped. There's booth seating, table seating, and bar seating available. The staff is extra nice and accommodating (they came by several times and asked if we needed help and even help take our pictures for us). Food is pretty good. Lots of flavor. Nevertheless, I would suggest to ask for less salt on the green beans. The soup dumplings and the honey walnut shrimp was a hit! This was my first time here and won't be my last.
Update 2/20/25 Friends coming to town for a show wanted to meet us for a bite. Because it's Lunar New Year week, I thought Dumpling King would be a perfect choice. I called and made reservations, worried they'd be swamped. We were greeted warmly , sat promptly and perused the menu. We ordered the Yangzhou fried rice, 3 flavor dumplings, stir fried string beans and honey walnut shrimp. On our server's recommendation, we also ordered the pork soup dumplings, which were on special. Green beans came out first , then the dumplings , then the rice and then the shrimp. I agree with other reviewers who thought the wrapper on the dumplings was a little thick. But the flavor was good. The green beans were the hit of the table, being not too spicy but very flavorful. The honey walnut shrimp was delicious, but the broccoli around the sides was cold and didn't seem to be an integrated part of the dish. We waited a good 20 minutes after the majority of the food was served to inquire about the soup dumplings. Our server went to check and said they would be ready soon. Another fifteen minutes passed, and it was getting close to when our friends had to leave for the theater. I flagged our server to cancel the order and ask that it be taken off our bill. Turns out they had just finished , so we were given them complimentary to take home. All in all, it was a lovely dinner. Everyone was satisfied and I appreciate making the soup dumplings right. We will come back again.
This kind of cuisine is in my blood so the restaurant name alone caught my eye when I drove past (on the way to Midtown Farmer's Market). Stopped in on a rainy Saturday, perfect for hot dumplings and such. The menu is extensive and we enjoyed everything we ordered. They've got us hooked now- even though we have to travel 30 minutes to Sacramento for it, we'll be back!
Dumpling King Asian Cuisine is officially that spot for late-night eats on the grid. We came in about an hour before closing (they're open until 1am, bless them), and instead of keeping it light... we chose chaos. And I regret nothing. We went full smorgasbord: vegetable spring rolls (crispy and satisfying), hot and sour cucumbers (bright, punchy, and addictive), and a cup of hot and sour soup that absolutely did what it needed to do. But the piece de resistance - the moment - was the dry pot cauliflower with dried tofu. MMM MM MM. Chef's kiss. Deeply flavorful, comforting, and one of those dishes you keep thinking about the next day. We also ordered the stir-fried flat noodles, which honestly reminded me a lot of drunken noodles (IMHO) and were absolutely lovely - savory, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. And because you cannot go to a dim sum spot and not order dumplings, we added the steamed vegetable dumplings. They came out piping hot (temperature-wise), super filling, and exactly what you want late at night. Since it was late, I assumed the staff might be ready to wind down - but our server Jasmine was wonderful. Warm, diligent, and genuinely attentive. We were checked in on regularly and felt completely taken care of, which honestly elevated the whole experience. Dumpling King took over the old Station 16 space, and I'll admit I had reservations. It's a big venue, and I worried a dim sum restaurant might feel lost in it - but not at all. The decor is lovely, tidy, and welcoming, and the space feels just right. And HOW could I forget the chili oil - absolute FIRE. So good I asked for some to go. I am so excited to have a late-night dim sum option on the grid. Dumpling King exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.

Great food, great service, love the happy hour deals. Everything we've tried has been delicious, and the staff is always friendly and attentive! Definitely get the garlic edamame -- it's one of our favorites. And if you like some heat, ask for it extra spicy . So good. We'll definitely be back! read more

This restaurant offers a great party atmosphere and a lively vibe. We ordered the shrimp and pork XLB, the three ways dumplings and the garlic string beans. Everything tasted excellent, with the string beans being really good! While the XLB was flavorful and filled with plenty of soup, the soup spoons provided were a bit too small. Since I prefer to poke a hole in my XLB to add sauce and chili oil before eating, the small spoons made it difficult to keep the soup from spilling over. So if you do how I'd like to eat XLBs, reserve the sauce bowl if you're the XLB poking and soup slurping first kind Also, the dumpling wrappers on the Three Flavors Dumplings were some of the thickest I've had, so I couldn't give them a perfect score on those. Nevertheless, it was a solid dining experience. I would still order the XLB if I come back and maybe try a few other dishes on the menu. read more

We came here late and got the best pot stickers and soup dumplings I have ever had! They were crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Their dumpling sauce was sweet and tasty as well as the vinegar and soy for savory palates. We ordered the cocktails and they were bigger than most and strong!! On going pork soup dumplings for$1 each. Parking- small lot across the street. Big place lots of tables. Great for families. read more

We came to eat at the spot with my friend and her 13-year-old daughter because she highly recommended it. Said her kids loved it and they have specials on the dumplings. Brought my 14-year-old nephew my 13-year-old daughter my nine-year-old daughter my seven-year-old son and my husband and everybody loved it! The restaurant itself is nice and large and open and full of light and has a nice modern style and a bar. Our server was very nice and gave recommendations in our food. Came out very quickly. Everything we got was delicious and very large portions. We will definitely be coming back to try some more. Parking is downtown so we had to go a little bit down the street but other than that very easy to get to. read more
I am glad that I finally dined in at Dumpling King. I did not enjoy all the menu items that I ordered, but I will visit again as there are other items that I want to try. What I enjoyed the most was the spicy beef tendon. I love the numbing spice. I am ecstatic that I am able to find it closer to home. The other items that I truly liked were the spicy wontons and the lava buns with salted egg yolk. The fried chicken with dry chilis were not bad, but I wasn't expecting chicken pieces similar to popcorn chicken. I liked the flavors of the shrimp and pork XLB; however, some of the pieces were quite dry and did not contain enough broth. What I really did not enjoy was the hot and sour soup. It was overwhelming sour and I could not drink another sip. 4 stars for the excellent customer service and the spicy tendon. read more

Had a great first experience here at Dumpling King! They have a really spacious spot on 16th Street but I was shocked it wasn't even busy at all on a Sunday at lunch time. Hopefully they'll get the word out more so they can be packed! There is a great variety on the menu, and we definitely over ordered but we had plenty of options for 6 of us. My favorites were the General Tso's Chicken, Sticky Rice Pork Siumai, and Beef Roll! The pork XLB was wrapped well but wish they gave ginger for the vinegar! Everything we got was delicious though, but I really wish they had options for baked bao. That's one of my favorite things to order and I feel like it should be a staple item on the menu. They had steamed ones and they weren't bad but I wish the filling was cut down to smaller pieces. Overall good experience, not sure if I'd come here over my other 2 favorite dumpling spots in Sacramento since you have to pay for parking here, but it's a good option if you wanted something right in the middle of downtown. read more
Well we just wanted a hot, real meal at 11pm in Sac and found out this place. Seems to be very new and fancy. They also have a bar section which is why they open until midnight. We had their signature dumplings and Green onion pancake. Green onion pancake was a little disappointing as an appetizer coz it was chewy, soggy and greasy. (3/5) Dumplings were delicious! HUGE sizes and "not bland" fillings. Soft and savory! Vegetable one is definitely a star. (5/5) Service is okay! Ambience is modern and alive! read more

We were not very impressed by their dishes as they lacked that pizzazz. We ordered green beans, XLB, spicy wontons, pan fried buns, and bacon fried rice. Everything was just average, not terrible, but it didn't give me that "wow" reaction. They did not cut off the ends of their green beans, so eating it was a little tough. But the flavor was there, so I would order that again. The pan fried buns were large, but it just lacked flavor and the texture was a bit weird. The pineapple margarita was delicious, but the Soulmate cocktail was superrrr strong. Service was also just okay, they were attentive. The restaurant itself is really nice and spacious with plenty of booths. They have a full bar and a window to watch the workers make dumplings. I also can appreciate that they open late in the night if you're having Chinese food cravings. All in all, I was a little disappointed with our visit as I really wanted to be blown away. From the moment we came to the door until we left, I have to say, we had a great experience. I will be honest, I did not what to expect , as we have a "go to" Dim-sum spot and here we are, another one opened in a former place we used to love. This was the former Station 16 location but I am impressed with the folks from the moment we came in!! Service was great, We were greeted right away and you can tell they want people to have a great experience. Our server had a deep voice lol and knows his stuff. We ordered a few things on the menu and it was worth the wait. The beef dish was tasty and they light that thing front of you. Customer service was awesome, they checked on us a lot and again, the food, I can say was uhhhhhhmazing. Keep the quality you guys! If I could give a 4.5 and not a 4 I totally would. The food is so flavorful! I got 7 dishes and still felt like there was so much more which is why I look forward to going back. Before I start: this is the home of the best fried rice in sac and it's not even close. Bacon fried rice? Chefs kiss! Why I give a 4.5 and not a 5 the garlic ribs were somewhat dry could've used more garlic but still had some flavor. The pork and veggie dumpling I'm not sure if it was missing some sauce or if I should've added more sauce myself. I know they have way more dumplings, and passing by they looked delicious so maybe it was just me? But still this is the dumpling King the dumplings I had were good but I'm sure their other dumplings are fire. The egg plant I was pleasantly surprised tasted really good. If you've never had egg plant this is the place. Also I'm not a spicy person but I can see my self adding some chili paste to compliment their favor. This is a brand new restaurant so they're still working out a lot of kinks! Honestly the food was delicious though! We really enjoyed it. It was the right amount of flavor for the dumplings and the beef broccoli! The Dan Dan Noodles were also really good but felt they could use an extra flavor boost. I was excited to check out the new spot where Station 16 used to be. It has not even been open a week yet, but the space is still beautiful, and I was looking forward to trying their Szechuan food. We were seated right away and the service was excellent. Our server was friendly, helpful with recommendations, and very attentive. We ordered the cauliflower and tofu dry pot, soup dumplings, vegetable dumplings, and cucumber salad. A few things we wanted, like the spicy beef tendon and some cocktails, were not available yet, which was a little disappointing for such a new restaurant. The standout dish was the cauliflower and tofu dry pot. The flavor was great, but the balance was a little off, with tiny pieces of tofu and far too many bean sprouts. The soup dumplings and vegetable dumplings were just okay, not very flavorful or juicy. Overall, it feels like they are aiming for a Din Tai Fung vibe. They have nailed the aesthetic, but the menu still needs work. I will give them the benefit of the doubt since they just opened, but nothing really wowed me this time. I would be open to coming back in a year once they have had time to refine things. The menu is massive, which can sometimes hurt a place, but if they narrow it down to what really works, it could help them shine. read more

Came here after a day of sightseeing in Sactown. So glad we did!! There were 4 of us and we all agreed that it was absolutely delicious. My friends had the dumplings, we had the black peeper beef, egg drop soup and spring rolls. The black pepper beef was amazing!! Service was good, but our food came out one item at a time instead of all together, which was kinda strange. Beautifully done restaurant too - nice bar, great booths, clean bathrooms. Incredible Late Night Food! The honey walnut shrimp was incredible. But the string beans with eggplant stole the show. My fabulous server made sure nothing was spicey for me, although everyone else wanted the opposite. Service was truly wonderful. Lily, our server tonight, was perfect and so so friendly! She gave us stickers and made us feel taken care of and special on our anniversary. Went there for my son's birthday and we all loved it. Cute place. Wasn't packed. I'm sure it is on a weekend especially with the nightlife downtown. Amazing customer service. Large portions and they gave my son a free dessert for his birthday (the custard filled pus that were so freakin cute) and they sang him happy birthday. I was in town and had a craving for Chinese food, and I decided to come to Dumpling King Asian Cuisine. I am so glad I did! The venue is humongous and welcoming. We had constant customer service and people checked in on us. The menu has a large array of food items and you can have you pick of various entrees. We got the shrimp dumpling which was delicious and we got the sizzling black pepper steak skillet. It had so much flavor and the meat was tender. We also ordered the general tso chicken. Came here on a sunday evening. Getting a table was easy.We were greeted immediately upon entering. Our hostess was very warm friendly and upbeat. This is our first time here. I had imagined the space to have more tables than I did. There is plenty of room inside. Making the feel very comfortable. We started off with sticky rice dumplings.And soup dumplings. The soup dumplings, we found out later when we got our bill were on special.That was a pleasant surprise. The sticky rice dumplings were new for me.This is the first time I had anything liked it.And I enjoyed it. I thought the taste was very good.I love the texture and the concept is new and welcome to me. The soup dumplings were okay.However, not amazing.I have found that I have set a high bar for this dish and though this one was not bad, it lacked tastiness in both the filling and broth. The wrap which is usually too thick was spot on for me.in this case. We also ordered a dry beef hot pot.Also a first formula. This arrived with fire. The the serving dish made it look appealing and kind of a fun dish to have on your table. The taste of this dish made it even better. The flavors spiciness, and how it was put together.I found very very appealing. On the night, this was our favorite dish. We also ordered a chocolate dumpling which unexpectedly exploded on me l o l. This seemed to be a chunk of candy in a dumpling wrapper warmed up. Cute concept tasted okay.However, I thought that the wrap was, maybea bit too thick. Overall, I feel the ambiance here this night.When it was not too busy made for a great experience. This place opens late and should be able to attract a good crowd.Since there's not much open in sac late at night.That serves good food. They also have a decent bar area and plenty of t vs to watch whatever media they may present on this night.It was football.
