Omakase wagyu shabu is a combination of words I have never heard before but let me just say, this is a life-changing experience. This unique dining experience is phenomenal and I definitely recommend everyone to go at least once. The meal consists of appetizers, main dishes alternating between American and Japanese wagyus with different toppings and sauces, other types of meats and veggies, and palate cleansers. I would say 85% of the meal is wagyu, and they serve very big pieces, which in my opinion makes the price so worth it. There's a huge variety in sauces but my favorites were the wagyu served with iwanori and the wagyu served with basil, blue cheese, and fig. We also got some unique appetizers like edamame soup and a lotus root manjuu. There is very limited seating so it's important that you make a reservation and are punctual, as they start right on time and serve the dishes to everyone at the same time. At the time my boyfriend and I went, there was only another couple dining so it was very intimate. All the ingredients tasted so fresh and were very evidently high quality. I'm already planning in coming here again. This was such a unique and fun experience and I'm so glad we made the decision to dine here!

Have you ever heard of shabu (hot pot) omakase? Come with me to this cool place! I had: 1. Mozzarella wonton and tomato sauce 2. Hand roll 3. Sake bottles - 2 bottles to pre-game while eating dinner 4. House made Yuba (tofu skin) with uni (sea urchin) 5. Sake shot 6. Steam egg roll with soup 7. Shabu beef slices, Wagyu included 8. Beef with truffle sauce (to be continue) This place brings shabu to the next level. I have never been or heard about this experience before, so this was my first time! And I love it. They only serve about 10 guests per night, making the dining experience very exclusively. We came in a big group that sit more than half of the bar. There were 2 servers who prepare and introduce the food very carefully. I like the service as well as the interior design of this place. Simple yet very convenient.

Food 9/10 Wow. Every single piece of shabu shabu blew my mind away. We had A5 Miyazaki wagyu + wagyushu (?) from the US, paired with different types of sauces and flavors that really brought out each piece. The A5 was so light and soft, instantly melting in my mouth, yet didn't feel excessively fatty. I really enjoyed the eggplant appetizer as well, even though I don't like eggplant at all. The fried lotus had a solid crunch and mix of seasoning, but it wasn't my favorite, while the duck salad was a bit bland. Nevertheless, the stars of the show were the wagyu pieces, cooked just right in the boiling water. My favorite might be the first A5 piece dipped in soba sauce, very simple and straight to the point. Other highlights included the wagyu with uni as well as the sesame sauce and homemade soba. Atmosphere 10/10 Super cute and intimate spot. Their bathroom was hidden behind a fAKE WALL it was so cool. I am also obsessed with their water glasses. Service 10/10 Very friendly and attentive, really appreciate it!

We live in the neighborhood and have always we wanted to try it out. We were a bit skeptical at the price for shabu but finally decided why not. The space of small and only consists of bar seats. It is very Japanese, is the best way to describe it. The service is very prompt and personal as your server will also be the person that cooks for you. In terms of the food, it is mostly wagyu. There's a few other items but I think it's a really good showcase of different ways to eat wagyu. You really get to experience the difference between American and Japanese wagyu too. The food was delicate and delicious overall. I did ask for more rice and was told no. It's not like you can pay for more rice, the answer was just no. We left full but not stuffed. Which is a rarity after eating shabu. We would come back but probably not for awhile as the menu is probably pretty much the same all the time.

Shabu Shabu Mayumon is probably in my top 3 Shabu Shabu in the US, including another Shabu Shabu restaurant in Beverly Hills. Shabu Shabu Mayumon is amazing from the start to the end. This is a very tiny restaurant in lower Manhattan with only 6 or 8 seats at the counter bar. One person is serving you and one person is taking care of preparing the Shabu Shabu. This is a new concept in between Shabu Shabu and Omakase in a sense where the chef is cooking the meat for you in the Shabu Shabu and then serve it one by one in your plate. This is a dégustation of amazing fresh products including different types of A5. Overall it's worth any minute in this traditional restaurant. There is no surprise they received a Michelin Star. We will come back any time we can! Delicious and great moment.

If you love shabu and omakase, you're going to love this place! I definitely had my doubts because I wasn't sure if shabu really needed an omakase experience. This place is definitely pricy but I think it was well worth it! The wagyu was cooked perfectly and all the sauce pairings just worked. Restaurant was nice and quiet and service was immaculate.

    Sharon Z.

3.5 stars in my opinion. The concept is nice and no doubt the ingredients and meats they use are top quality but for a coursed dinner it all starts to taste the same after the while. This is because since most of it is shabushabu they dip the meat in a broth and present it to you and you use the same dipping sauce the whole meal. This ends up being a little boring and the whole experience lacks some variety.

    Mandy C.

One of the best Shabu Shabu experiences I've had in my entire life. The meat was so soft and melted in your mouth. I wished we got to drink some of the broth though! They turned it into a soba dish instead and it was the most underwhelming dish out of all of them. The waitresses were also super attentive too. One of them saw that I took out the wasabi in the earlier dishes and asked me if I wanted to excluded the wasabi out for the other dishes. Place is small; you sit at the counter! The price was about $150 per person but I'm definitely going again and taking my parents there!

The A5 miyazaki wagyu and washugyu omakase is steeped in authentic tradition and gingerly hand-wrapped with the attentive care and service from their small staff. They individually cook each piece for you, intermingled and paired with different sauces and accompaniments. The beef is a decadent, rich, unctuous, and buttery. It melts in your mouth. The beauty is in its simplicity, but done well. The richness can be overwhelming. It's on one hand robust and over-the-top, but meanwhile strikingly subtle. Between bites, service will intermingle interludes of different sauces, vegetables, seaweed, ponzu, etc. to cleanse the palate. But undoubtedly, the focus is on the luxuriously marbled and intensely flavorful wagyu. For some, this will be divine. But for others, I know it will be a monotonous greyscale.

Came in for the Wagu Shabu Shabu. We had a reservation for the 2nd portion of the evening Overall high quality meats, excellent for meat lovers. It was an experience. However the flavours were too mild for my palate.

    Nancy C.

I didn't think I'd be impressed by "shabu omakase" but boy was I wrong! Every bite was absolute perfection. The chef cooks and prepare every course right in front of you. Only the best cuts of meat and finest ingredients were used! The courses were all well-balanced, nothing was overwhelming or "too meaty" This was a pricey meal but worth every penny. The ambience was very intimate, they only seat about a handful of people per seating. Shabushabu Mayumon has made it to the top of my nyc restaurant list.

omg FABULOUS every bite is so good and i absolutely loved each moment! the food: my favorite bites were the first couple of shabu moments with the A5 wagyu - it literally melts in your mouth. the omakase is one of my best experiences i've had in the city the space: intimate, seats 6-8 the service: they're so good at what they do. super attentive and sweet

Date of Visit: 12/6/2022 Shabushabu Mayumon is a fancy style of Japanese Shabu Shabu, with A5 Wagyu beef from Miyazaki and Washugyu, and also Pork Belly in different ways. At Shabushabu Mayumon, guests are seated at the counter, and can view waitress preparing and serving all different preparation of meat and veggies. The set is $148 per person with two time slots to choose from, 5:30pm or 8pm. The wine selection was limited, we got 2017 Alamos Mendoza $15 and Kiseki No Osake $20. There were a few starter dishes, including Scallop, Sashimaki Tamago, Yuba Uni, and Bagna Cauda. Love the second one with Japanese omelet in a clear and warm broth. The main course composed of 14 different shabu shabu, prepared in a slightly different way with different sauce. My favorites were the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hand Roll, Pork belly with lettuce and tomato sauce, Mozzarella and Basil Wonton, and Washugyu with Karajiru sauce. There was also a soba noodle dish after the shabu shabu to wrap up, with slow roasted duck on the side. And the dessert was a hot tea paired with hojicha ice cream.

We walked into a cozy, intimate space that felt more like a traditional Japanese noodle shop than a large restaurant, with a warm, understated energy that kept the attention on the food. The dining room was modest and inviting, with a layout that accommodated a steady flow of customers, and the focus was clearly on the quality of the noodles and the care that went into each bowl. The udon was the highlight of the meal. The noodles had a thick, chewy texture that showed the difference between freshly made udon and typical packaged noodles, and the broth was flavorful without feeling too heavy, with a savory depth that paired well with the noodles. We ordered a few different bowls and found the shrimp tempura udon standing out, with the tender shrimp, crispy tempura coating, and rich broth coming together in a way that felt complete. The restaurant also offers different styles of udon, including hot and cold options, which gave us good variety depending on what we were looking for. Beyond the udon, Raku has a selection of additional dishes that complement the meal. The menu keeps the focus on Japanese comfort food, and the smaller dishes made it easy to add something extra without taking away from the main bowl. We appreciated that the restaurant does not overcomplicate the food and instead focuses on getting the fundamentals right. The dining experience is more relaxed and intimate, though the space is limited and can get busy during peak hours. Reservations are helpful, especially during popular dining times, and seating can feel a little tight because of the smaller layout. Despite the size, the atmosphere works well for enjoying a slower meal centered around a warm bowl of udon. The staff moved through the room with a quiet efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the experience smooth and unhurried. Overall, Raku is a great spot for anyone looking for high-quality udon in NYC. The handmade noodles, flavorful broths, and simple approach to Japanese comfort food make it stand out. It is the type of restaurant we would return to when craving a satisfying bowl of noodles rather than a more casual ramen-style meal.

I've taken a lot of friends here over the course of 10 years, and without fail, every one of them has walked out mindblown--and why wouldn't they?! The wait times have gotten better over the years (probably because people are waiting for the restaurant next door), but the food and drinks here are still top-notch. Staff is always great, and they all work so efficiently. I am generally a fan of izakayas, but there are very few that offer plates that are designed to be shareable, and this is one of the reasons the food here is so enjoyable in a small group setting. I am obviously biased and think they can do no wrong, but some of my staples that have stood the test of time: Kimchi cream udon, avocado tofu salad, salmon sashimi tacos, and the kani cream croquettes. I was so excited when they opened an outpost in Flushing years ago, but sadly it shuttered during COVID. It is definitely small and there is always going to be a wait, so don't be those people who come in with a huge group during prime time because they like to move (getting customers in and out) very fast.

Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.
