It was clean and the staff were nice and friendly. But sometimes it was difficult to communicate with them so they had to get a translator. Once you know what to order there's an iPad to pick the soup bases and food items. It wasn't difficult. It ended up being a bit pricey since it all adds up. Came here on a Monday night for their AYCE with 3 other people. We came here a little before 9 and they wouldn't seat us until it was exactly 9, which was understandable. The AYCE options were relatively limited comparing to other AYCE places that I've been to but it was still pretty decent. We picked the bone broth and spicy broth. They both tasted great but just be aware that the spicy broth was very spicy even if you choose the least spicy option. I would recommend scooping some of the oil blocks and peppers out if you can't handle spice well. The AYCE also came with one portion of shrimp paste and one tender beef with egg per table. They were both only okay. The shrimp paste was too soft and we just didn't really like the texture of the tender beef. Overall, we had a great time here. The AYCE was only $30 per person pre tax and tips, which was pretty cheap. I only know one other place in NYC that's cheaper than this place but it's all the way in Flushing. The restaurant is clean and relatively quiet, and they have a big drawstring bag to store your belongings so they don't smell like hot pot. We opted for the split broth - pork leg bone and spicy. As a Sichuan restaurant, the spicy broth definitely had the mala/numbing flavor so be prepared (but maybe I'm a baby for spice). I found the broth to be rich and flavorful, while not too fatty. Our go to is typically Haidilao which is amazing but noticed that Da Long has spicier options. We had the extreme spicy beef broth. The server asked us a couple times if we're sure. The hot pot broths were the best Ive ever had. I really enjoyed the pork broth and tomato broth. They had enough flavor for all the things you put in the broth. I didn't try the spicy broth because I can't handle spicy. The portions are great for Al la cart. They give a lot of fish. The regular red meat is the normal plate size. The sauce station has mushroom salad which is kind of spicy. The pineapples were ripe and the oranges were flavorful. I highly recommend coming here with a group of 2-4 people. One major con is that the vents are weak and there isn't enough vents so you are guaranteed to smell strongly of hot pot and in need of a hair wash + shower once you get home. Despite rave reviews, Da Long Yi definitely left me unsatisfied. Perhaps this was just a relic of me never having had Chengdu-style hotpot, but I definitely felt like the broth was underwhelming. For what we received, I'd also say da long Yi was quite expensive -- one could go somewhere in flushing or to an AYCE spot and receive similar quality ingredients for arguable a decent bit cheaper.
