    Cuisine: 7 Service: 8 Decor: 7 Value: 8 Overall: 8 If you have read my other sushi omakase reviews, you will know that I am not a huge fan of the current trend of relatively cheap but get out asap type of restaurants. My biggest issue is often with the quality of the product and the rush at which it's served. Unfortunately, this second Genki location only gives its customers 1 hour 15 mins to eat just like the rest of these establishments. However, at least the sushi itself was good quality and worthy of the $65 price tag. Here is the omakase I had on 9/20/2025. Starters: Kaki (Kumomoto Oyster) Kanpachi (Amber Jack) Nigiri: Madai (Sea Bream) Suzuki (Sea Perch) Shima Aji (Striped Jack) - chives Sake (Salmon) - tomato puree Akami Zuke (Marinated Bluefin Tuna) - wasabi stem Gindara (Black Cod) - truffle paste Hotate (Sea Scallop) - chives Uni (Sea Urchin) Otoro (Fatty Bluefin Tuna) - caviar A5 Wagyu (Beef) - chopped toro, foie gras Special: Hotate & Uni (Scallop & Sea Urchin) - toast Let me start off by saying that Chef Adam is quite engaging and humorous. The running joke between us throughout the evening meal was that he gets his Bluefin Tuna from Brooklyn and his Uni specifically out of the waters of Coney Island. Well, I really hope not, but the quality on both were quite decent. Oh yeah, he also stated that he learned making sushi watching YouTube videos, which I'm still unsure if he was pulling my leg or for real. Lol As for my number one sushi omakase pet peeve, the nigiri rice was slightly cooler than I prefer and a bit too hard, but definitely acceptable. The fish slices were very generous and the quality was all above par for this style of omakase. The servers were nice enough, albeit they seemed lost at times. One more note worth mentioning was the fact that Chef Adam was kind enough to replace our final course (Unagi - Eel), which we didn't prefer, with something unique. That bite of Scallop w/ Uni on Toast was quite memorable. Thank you! I decided to take a chance on this restaurant because it was new to the Lower East Side and I needed something Asian after everything else I ate that weekend. I walked out with a sense of satisfaction for a good overall experience.

    This was such a good omakase experience at an unbeatable value just $65 for 13 courses! The fish was SO fresh and beautifully balanced. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with fast and attentive service that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The lineup was outstanding from the Kumamoto oyster to buttery uni, rich A5 wagyu with foie gras, and eel with banana was something I never had before . I LOVED IT!

    Genki is always my go to spot when I have a visitor or just want a fun date night or girls night. First time at this location and couldn't have had a better experience. Highly recommend the $100 unlimited omakase - 15 courses and then as many salmon, toro, and wagyu nigiri as your heart desires + unlimited house sake and beer. Quality was incredible, staff were friendly and vibes were great!

    I really want to give a shoutout for how accommodating this place is! I had a 6:15pm reservation and my friend was running really late. They were willing to start our omakase but put aside my friend's portion. The staff were all so friendly and nice. It was a cozy ambience and the sushi quality was very good! The chef took his time to make each piece and presented it very well. I think this month they are having a promotion: $49 for 12 courses. I am planning to go back at the end of the month!

I've taken a lot of friends here over the course of 10 years, and without fail, each one of them walks out mindblown--and why wouldn't they?! I am obviously biased and think they can do no wrong, but some of my staples that have stood the test of time: Kimchi cream udon, avocado tofu salad, salmon sashimi tacos, and the kani cream croquettes. I was so excited when they opened an outpost in Flushing years ago, but sadly it shuttered during COVID. It is definitely small and there is always going to be a wait, so don't be those people who come in with a huge group during prime time because they like to move (getting customers in and out) very fast.

They have a variety of drinks such as frozen kirin beer and Japanese inspired cocktails. For food, they have a large variety of Japanese classics from sushi, skewers, fried dishes, and noodles/rice. My favorites here are the Omu Soba which has some tasty noodles inside and the salmon don which has some sashimi and sauce over rice!
