I've come to this place many times with friends and family or even just to go myself. Service is good. It's a nice place to sit. The food is good. The bar is full of seafood, vegetables and different noodles. On the sides of the island are sauces you can mix together. My go-to is Sukiyaki base with udon noodles if the noodles are available. It's a popular noodle in this restaurant. Meats are good and you can order four at a time. Lots of drinks and a bar to drink at and eat. Wait times can be pretty long depending on when you go especially over the weekend. And be there extra early because parking can be a pain too. Overall, I love coming here for hot pot. read more

Let me start by telling you I'm not a big fan of drinking broth. However this restaurant was pretty good if you enjoy Broth. It's $27 per person includes a choice of meat, appetizer, & your choice of broth. They have a salad bar where they keep seafood, noodles and vegetables so you can prepare your soup to your like! In every station they have stoves so you can heat and eat your broth with your choices of meats. Great service! Give yourself at least half hour to be in line. They are pretty busy. This is my favorite Shabu place. I really like coming here even though I live in SF. This place located in a large plaza with plenty of parking but it may be hard to find during busy times. If you come during dinner, you may have to wait in line for a long time. All you can eat Shabu with very good quality of meat and I recommend Prime Flat Iron Steak that is my favorite one. Soup and appetizers were good especially Volcano Chicken Karaage that so crispy. They have a self-serve sauce bar in the middle that we can mixed the sauce ourselves and you can pick varieties of vegetables, noodles, seafood, and more from there. I'd like to give five stars but let's subtract one. Most recently I went on a Tuesday afternoon and felt a little disappointed. There has two employees at the host station and saw our group but they still keep talking among themselves. Didn't even greeting to us and let us stand in front of them like that for a while. Until another guy walked in from behind and led us to a table. The atmosphere improved when our waitress appeared. Liew is amazing, she's really attentive and always checked up on us. I was hesitant to share this experience but I feel like they've just gone so far downhill. The food is still decent so I won't give them a one star. We arrived for lunch around 4 PM. Just to help get a clear idea of the situation, it was 4 PM, about 45 degrees outside, and the restaurant was empty (maybe 4/5 tables, if you've been here before you know what I mean about the restaurant being practically empty). Myself, my partner and our 5 month old baby came to the counter and asked for a table for 5. The rest of our party was on the way. Probably 10 mins away. As we stood in lobby, the hostess came and told us "I'm sorry I know it's freezing outside but you can't wait in here" Luckily my family was literally walking up to the door as she was trying to kick us out to wait in the freezing cold with my 5 month old baby! I understand these franchises, that are no longer mom and pops, have their policies but there was literally nobody there and freezing outside. It would be different if they were busy or if the weather was ok outside but taking into consideration the fact that there was no one waiting, absolutely NO ONE coming in, they could've let us stand there for the couple of minutes. I won't blame the hostess because she's clearly trying to enforce a policy enforced by her superiors but as a whole there needs to be some sort of situational exceptions. Like a 5 month old, during non-peak hours and 45 degree weather. There's a lack of empathy and compassion. That was just the first thing. After we got seated, it started out fine. Server was ok got us what we needed to start but then kinda disappeared. We ordered different meats and the wrong ones kept getting brought out. For example we ordered two toros and one pork belly and 3 toros were brought out. And then we wanted 1 chicken karaage and 3 were brought out. It just seemed like they genuinely did not care. Last thing was they didn't really check back too often, water cups remained empty, we had to ask a different server for refills. We were still eating and wanting to order more meats when he brought out the check and told us no rush..... No rush but you never asked if we were done! On our way out the restaurant had become full and busy, which is a shame because there are a lot of smaller mom and pop restaurants that have better quality food and fantastic service that deserve more business during this slow holiday season. I instantly regretted spending my money here. Our $200 bill is clearly nothing to a business this size but would've been greatly appreciated at a smaller business. There are way better places for Shabu. The meat was boring and the buffet sides were not even worth getting up for. A lot of noodles and not really many other types of sides. The servers pretty much threw down our food and was not very attentive. Didn't explain the different types of meat. I won't return to this place. read more

Wow this place went downhill super fast. My husband and I had the worst experience here a few days ago. We made it just in time for lunch special. We were seated and was told that our server will be right with us... okay... 10 minutes pass by and we're looking at each other like are we not going to be served water? Take our orders? Or check on us? at the time it was busy but that's understandable. But why did other guests after us get seated on the bench and was served right away with their drinks and orders? Eventually our server came 5 minutes after (total of 15 min waiting) and we were able to place our order. Okay... so we got checked on once for chopsticks/spoon but no refills... my husband and I finished eating and we sat there for a very long time. I went up to the counter and I let them know that we've been waiting to pay sooo... the lady told me we needed to wait for our server. OK but no courtesy to come find our server and let her know we've been waiting??? So I sat down and I told my husband that we can't pay at the front. Then my husband looks over at the bar and yells that there are 3 people cleaning one table and 3 servers at the bar with no acknowledgement for the rest of us customers eating. NONE. So I told my husband I would wait outside for him. We've waited over 25 minutes to pay. My husband did not tip our server. Hopefully, if ever is a next time, that we will have someone more compliant. read more

Every time I come here I'm over quoted on the wait time (usually it's around an hour) but then I get a text saying my table is ready 20-30 minutes earlier than expected. Yes it's better to be over than under, but when they only seat when the full party is there, and have a 10 minute grace period, it gets difficult with parties over 2. The hosts always look confused and I could tell there's a lack of communication across the team of 3-4 hosts at the stand. I only come here on certain occasions or with friends who have never been to AYCE hotpot. The appetizers always come out last and cold, but I like the meat selection and how fast those come out. This would be a really good place if the staff just communicated more and was better trained. read more

Came here on a Friday night and it wasn't that busy at all. Your party needs to be present before they will seat you. Wait is not long at all. The service was efficient and quick. The food was OK. This is absolutely my new obsession! I dont care if it's a hot summer day, I will always crave hot pot. When we first walked in on a Friday night, we were greeted but told that it would be about a 40 minutes wait. We were fine with that as we were on a date night. When we finally were seated, our server came and gave us a run down on hot pot worked. A bit overwhelmed, we got the most popular broth - spicy miso and dove head first into the buffet. I had just about everything and it was delicious. My only feedback would be that the buffet should be better labeled and I will not put shrimp because it will over cook. read more

Came here for dinner recently. I would say a 3/5 for the food because nearly all the meats was bland except for the pork belly. The spicy miso soup base tasted too salty. Though it's nice that there's a lot of options in the self-serve buffet area, the choices didn't taste good and the texture felt like the food was a bit old. Service would be a 4/5. Although it was slow to get our food and drinks, our server checked in on us, refilling our drinks, requesting more food, adding more soup, etc more often than other busy eat all you can places. I have come here a few times and have enjoyed my experience overall. One great tip: If you are coming during peak meal hours, don't be discouraged to park farther or behind the buildings. Parking is a massive headache during peak hours, so don't be afraid to do a little walking. Shibuya is an awesome all-you-can-eat hot pot location. The ambiance is modern and nice looking with bopping music. As for the food, there are several broth options that you can choose from, as well as meat options. From my experience, they usually ask for about 3-ish meats per table, unless you have a larger party. There are also a handful of appetizers that you can choose from. There is a buffet-type station in the middle of the restaurant that has additional things you could add to your soup. This includes seafood, vegetables, noodles, and a sauce bar. If you haven't tried something there, definitely give it a try. Soup is generally delicious! And I always enjoy my meal here. In terms of service, the workers here are awesome! There was only one time when the service was kind of slow, but otherwise, I don't have anything anything to complain about. read more

Great place to have a nice time with friends or family. Super busy during weekends with a 1.5 hours wait. We read to come after the lunch rush and before dinner which is around 3pm to 5pm which we did and only waited 5 minutes to be seated. Price is $29 per person and kids over 50 inches are considered an adult regardless of age. Take note also that there is a 90 minute maximum dine in so you have to plan out your orders and they will let you know when you have only 20 minutes left to eat before they kick you out as they have to turn the tables for other waiting guests. I suggest order your meat and keep them coming for the whole hour. The selections at the buffet for the soup is ok. The fresh shrimps were nice. There's five different style broth for soup including one spicy. The miso and traditional broth were their most popular. There is a full bar and a few selections of Saki. I am so glad they they finally re-opened again for indoor (and outdoor) dining. The experience is mostly the same, except with some Covid cautionary measures. The staff all wore masks, but I do not recall any of them wearing gloves. Tables looked to be set 6 feet distant apart. They request you to use your phone to pull up the Menu online to order the appetizers, meats, soup broth, and drinks. They have pen and paper to order your sauces and fixins for the broth. I ordered the Spicy Miso as my base and it wa the absolute best for me. It was not overwhelmingly spicy and had the right amount of kick. The veggies this time are limited, since they do not carry water chestnuts or baby corn anymore. They still have a plethora of vegetables to choose from. I went for lunch yesterday (Friday) and the bill was only $18 (before tax) per person. They also have a "Buy One Get One" for 1 cent alcoholic beverages, or for free for soft drinks. I highly recommend everyone around the Veranda to stop by here for food. The price for lunch on a weekday is amazing and I find myself full after 3 rounds of meat, which I recommend the Toro and the Wagyu. read more

3.5/5 my wallet stays happy. Review is solely based off of lunch AYCE. 20 dollars for AYCE lunch? Say lessssss. In regards to selection of meats, there isn't much variety. I usually order toro and the other beef option; in terms of meat quality though, for AYCE the beef is super soft (which I enjoy) because the fat content is good on the beef. However, per table (usually seats 4), you are only allowed to order 4 plates of meat and each plate will only have 3-4 slices of meat (which in my opinion is not enough) This would be less of an issue if it weren't so hard to flag down a server to get you more meat. The selection of sides is also fairly limited. I'm more accustomed to Chinese style hot pot, so to me, they had less in their sides that I was interested in. They had a lot of vegetables to choose from though, so if that's your vibe, you'd like it. Having chicken karaage as a side though is a nice touch, but the service again is slow so it takes a while for it to come out. The soups are pretty good. I usually order the spicy miso and I enjoy it. I can't attest to the other options though. I also like that they come in individual pots; however the soup heater is quite slow so it takes a while for the soup to come to a boil which means waiting longer for your food to cook. I would honestly never come for dinner, but for lunch and the price, if in the area I'd go. Not impressed by service and the food selection, but price wise and them not rushing you wise, I enjoy shabuya. read more

First time visiting. The food was fairly good, service was better. Ambiance is a little weird, the playlist is like oldish music that doesn't feel complementary to the experience. My only outright complaint is that the hot broth brought to your table is carried in a plastic pitcher. Plastic is an awful choice for the transport of anything hot or even warm, since heating plastic above room temperature releases literally millions of microplastics into the item (broth in this case). I hope management invests in glass/stainless steel pitchers. Otherwise, I don't think I'll be back. read more

First time I ate that much and really very filling considering we just ordered one round of the 4 types of meat -chicken, prime flat iron steak , prime blade meat and premium rib eye. Also got some crabs, lobster and fish ball and shrimp which paired perfectly with sukiyaki broth-adds sweetness to the seafood. The original house broth has the same flavor profile as the sukiyaki except the sweetness. Loved the tonkatsu broth, very flavorful. Lots of veggies to choose from-mushrooms, chrysanthemum leaves, spinach etc and of course don't miss the sweet corn. Different options for the sauces which you can dip your meat into to add flavor. Love Shabuya! Best ayce hot pot on this side of the bay by far! I love the diverse selection of seafood, veggies, and noodles available. It's good for large groups in that they have these large tables that are easy to come and go from. It's hard for large groups under ten in that you can't make reservations. Shabuya is also the only hot pot place on this side of the bay that doesn't have a crazy line to make the sauces. Fantastic work with customer management. Our party had a table attached to another party of 4, we could hear their conversations and had to constantly make sure our food was not mixing with their food. Cannot be seated until all parties are present. NO Reservations and NO waitlist. Food: unlimited carbs, veggies, and sauce bar in the middle. Only ordered all beef seemed mediocre but each plate came with roughly 4-6 slices of meat at a time. I never got a refill on my water. Service: WAS TERRIBLE. Only get 90 minutes to eat. According to my receipt we "sat down at 12:08pm" and barely an HOUR into our meal, the waitress said we were coming up on our 90 minutes. This puts pressure on us to consume everything in our pot and plates. It was so hard to enjoy our food when the employees would constantly come and clean our tables and remind us of our time limit like no other. It is a terrible experience where my friends and I will not be returning. My friend had a FULL pot of food and she had gone to the restroom and the wait staff took away her bowls and only asked "if she was done" after the waiter touched her pot. Ambiance: loud dark and felt cramp. They also bring you your check within the 60 mins you are eating, and you pay in front of them, with the expected "18% gratuity" or more. This time paying for our check cuts into my time to eat! Tipping culture is out of control for poor service and rude employees. I felt eyes watching me on how much I was going to tip, I regret tipping 18%. If this business is so busy and has such a limited time constraint, why not open earlier than 11:30am? read more
