Dropped off a sweater that I thought they had drycleaned and it was a terrible job. I was wrong it was another dry cleaner and I will review them separately. BUT when I left the sweater for the manager to look over it was hung on a hanger, no creases. When I got it back it was crammed into a small plastic bag and the bag was hanging from the hanger. It's all full of impossible creases that won't hang out. So now I have to pay to have it dry cleaned, of course they offered to do it (and charge full amount). Are you kidding me! You crumbled it up into a ball and want me to pay you to dry cleaned it. That treatment (by a manager no less) tells me to stay far far away. The Shaffer's are extremely helpful and care about the items they are cleaning, because you care about the items you want cleaned. I have a backpack I have had for 15 years, I took it on every trip I ever go on. Understandably, it was gross. I figured it a lost cause, but they checked it out, took it for a little bit, did some kind of magic, and I got it back looking like the day I bought it. I have never written a review before and don't mean to sound histrionic, but this company's service was inexcusably bad. I dropped off a pair of silk pants and a nice jacket to be dry cleaned specifically and not laundered. I also requested they try to address a small stain on the jacket if possible. When I returned, they had lost my pants (a gift from my mother in law from Italy and quite expensive, I was crying) and the jacket looked exactly as it had when I dropped it off. The stain wasn't touched. The teenager behind the counter was clearly overwhelmed. She said she'd talk to her manager the next day- I requested they dry clean the jacket again. It took 2 phone calls and 2 trips there. They finally found the pants. I still had to pay for them. And I haven't gotten the jacket back yet. Ridiculous. read more

Well, first my shirts were wrinkled and my pants looked like they had not been cleaned let alone pressed. Prior to wearing any of my clothes I am going to have to iron everything. I went inside to drop off my cleaning, which I could not do at the other place. The lady at the counter was very polite and helpful. She asked me if 2 days would be a good pick up time. I said that was fine. I received a text message letting me know that my clothes were ready. I went in, paid the bill, and picked up my clothes. The price was very reasonable too. Prepare to get SHAFted. No really, I had a terrible experience. I showed up with limited amount of time on a Friday, needing a 3 piece suit done that day. Their outdoor sign stated same day until 11:00 AM. I had arrived right at 11:00 and they said it was no problem and took the suit and took down my information. After I had been gone for about 20-30 minutes running other errands on a lunch break, they informed me they could not honor the policy and have the suit done for same day. No explanation as to why..... at this point I no longer had time to bring the suit anywhere else on break to get the suit done for same day. The staff was barely apologetic, and just came across as uniformed and confused. I would have paid more or brought the suit somewhere else if I had known they could not honor their commitments. Icing on the cake, about a week or so later as I drove past, their same outdoor "SAME DAY" advertising sign now stated until 12:00. Now that is IRONY. (you know the opposite of wrinkly) ;) read more

My complaint about my experience with Shaffer is on two levels - not only did their 'cleaning process' do some quite extensive damage to my vintage designer purse - but the way the manager/owner responded only added to my devastation. I submitted my vintage Mulberry purse to have it cleaned (it honestly wasn't that grubby in the first place, but I wanted it to receive some love and care and have it returned to me even more gorgeous than it already was), and paid $50 upfront, and agreed to pay the remaining $50 when it was ready, in a month's time, after its 'professional' clean. Imagine my devastation when I went to pick it up to see my beautiful bag with its cream leather stained like it had been put in a washing machine. The damage to my precious bag were beyond repair (not that they offered to repair this damage), the cream leather came back mottled and tan. I was devastated and asked the (polite) sales assistant girl if I could speak with management about the damage that had been done to my bag. She went off to ask them and the answer came back "no, they were busy". I asked "too busy to speak to me about this?" and she said that it was Friday afternoon, and that they were "super busy". My beautiful bag was ruined in the expectation that it was going to be treated with as much love as I had for it, and the manager/owner of Shaffer's attitude was atrocious. I asked for a refund and received an abrupt, adamant, "NO". My advice: If you love your purse, don't get it cleaned at Shaffer. read more

I had the most horrible, and appalling experience at Shaffer's Dry Cleaning. I was treated like a criminal, literally. When I picked up my silk blouse, there were several small tears under the armpit. The company took it upon themselves to have the set in deodorant stains removed. Which I appreciate but in the process they over worked the fabric and torn it. When I picked it up there was an itemized description of cleaning that had written on it "sorry". The manager said that since the silk blouse that they torn was unrepairable, they would reimburse me the amount to replace it. She stated would pass the claim along to the GM and owner since the amount was greater than she was authorized to give. After 2 1/2 weeks I called the GM, regarding the matter. He stated that the check would be ready for me to pick up today after 1:00pm and would be in the amount of $110. When I got there the gentleman I was told to ask for regarding the check had no idea what I was talking about. After a moment I was given my shirt and a check of $39. I told the gentleman this is not what was discussed or promised. I then spoke to the owner, and after much debate, I said this was unacceptable, and I was going to take it up with the BBB.... She then told me and I quote, "Fine I will write you a check for that amount, but I don't want you ever coming in here again, or to ever step foot in this store. THIS IS AMERICA! I am going to call the police and have you escorted off the property! YOU BOUGHT THIS AT A THRIFT SHOP!" First off why she thought I would ever come back is beyond me and second, I did not purchase this blouse at a thrift shop, it was purchased at JCrew at full price, and I have the records to prove so. The Owner then walked out behind after giving me the check (which was unsettling) asking "what kind of car do you drive?" followed by "Leave! The police are on their way!!" I highly recommend not doing busy with this company. Its nice on the outside, but a real dumpy place inside. read more

If you like high maintenance dry cleaners with very slow turnaround, as well as lost items and a complete lack of any communication, then Shaffer Dry cleaning is for you! My very first (and, consequently, last) time I have ever used Shaffer dry cleaning was through my work. I sent a military jacket, two blouses and two dresses to be cleaned. Their turnaround time is supposedly within 3 to 4 days, but over a week later, when I didn't receive any of my items, so I called. The lady that answered the phone looked up my order but couldn't find it anywhere (alarming, to say the least). She put me on VERY long holds several times. After HALF AN HOUR (not exaggerating - I started paying attention to how long I was on the phone after what seemed like a very long time), she finally found my order and said that none of it had been processed, because two of the items needed a release since a dress was black and white, and the two blouses were white with attached sequins. I asked why they had not called me - why did they wait for me to call them? I had no idea they needed a release - so I gave it to her, but said I needed the jacket back ASAP. She didn't have an answer for why they didn't call me to get the release, but promised to have the jacket back on the very next delivery (they deliver 2x/week to my work location) A week later - not kidding - I finally received my jacket and one of the dresses back, but, where were my two blouses and the other dress? Oh - they were still at the dry cleaners waiting for a release from me - again!! Apparently nobody knows how to communicate over there, and so I had to give a SECOND release to the guy on the phone. PLEASE DRY CLEAN MY CLOTHES, YES I WANT YOU TO DRY CLEAN MY CLOTHES. YOU ARE A DRY CLEANER AND I SENT THEM THERE FOR YOU TO DRY CLEAN. PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE?!? I finally received my last items at the next delivery date - over two weeks after I had sent them in. No apology, no discount even! I paid full price for this service. They have continued to email me, despite me asking several times to be unsubscribed (they don't have an unsubscribe option in their automated emails, I asked over the phone and through email) so I've finally just marked all of their messages as junk - because that's what they are. Good luck to you if you decide to use them - I hope you have a better experience than what I had. Me? I'm voting with my feet and going elsewhere! read more

I have used this dry cleaner exclusively in the last few years. (Swan and Sunrise) We moved to Tucson severeal I got a washable king comforter back and it still had the blood stain on it. That was why I brought it in to begin with.(beginning of Feb) Then I put on a sweater this morning and saw there was makeup on the upper arm. I picked up the sweater yesterday. I certainly am disappointed, and the staff is not friendly at all. I will make some changes. read more

I recently visited Shaffer Dry Cleaning to get some inexpensive curtains hemmed by their tailor. Hemming curtains is about the simplest thing that you can do with a needle and thread: you cut the curtain to just over the appropriate length, then sew a single line of the cloth back on itself. I'd have done it if I had a sewing machine. Imagine my surprise that the tailor took 2.5 weeks to accomplish this feat, and then charged me $45 for what must have only taken about 10 minutes of her time. The worst part of it is that she didn't even sew the curtains to the same length, one was 1" longer than the other! I'm glad that I didn't bring a piece of clothing more expensive to her before discovering her ineptitude at clothwork. Look elsewhere. read more

I'm not big on giving one star reviews, but this will probably help a lot of people. I showed up in Tucson for a birthday, & spent some now wasted money, on an outfit. Before leaving Arizona, I decided to get the clothes I had just bought, dry cleaned, so I can go home with all clean clothes. Not only were they closed early (w/ other very angry patrons outside) the following day when I came back, was even worse. You did not dry clean my clothing, you washed it, and not only did you wash it, you washed it in hot water. My jeans, & my shirt came back faded; not only that, but also a few sizes smaller. I didn't need the explanation (that was bogus) on how my 3 day old Levis, that I had worn once, were faded, & the legs could barely fit my arms. I dry clean my pants on a regular basis, & that has never happened after one cleaning. Not only did I not get my refund, I had my clothing ruined, & both times I showed up, someone else was there with a complaint. Find a small local dry cleaner, & avoid these chains; my clothing got ruined, my money was wasted, & it burned a lot of my time. read more

I LOVE how they are always AHEAD of schedule for my dry cleaning. They'll even text me when it's ready and ask if I'd like to schedule a Drop Off or Pick Up. I was also very impressed with the help I received from the owner herself, on the use of some older gift cards I had received. She took the extra time to track me down and figure out how to get the OLD cards to work on their NEW system. She was very pleasant and very helpful. Fast Turnaround. Consistent Service. Fair Price. As far as dry cleaners go, there's not really anything bad I can say about Shaffer. At least for my needs, they check all the boxes. I get the delivery service twice a week and it's perfect for me. If ever I don't have a pick-up, they send a reminder text the day before and you can just reply with 'SKIP' to have them skip you on the route. They do same day and next day service so if ever I have a trip or event, I can get something back with a quick turn. There was one time I had an issue a couple years ago and Ms. Shaffer called me directly to resolve the issue and didn't charge me for the service and had my clothes delivered to me so I could get my suit back before I went on a business trip. I have been using Shaffer consistently for the last 3 years or so and probably have an average of 1 order per week, sometimes as many as 3. I've been very pleased and if you are going to using a service over a long period, they're also economical. read more

My husband took our couch covers in to be cleaned letting them know that a dog had peed on one and there was some jelly on another. Shaffers told them it would be two weeks and we'd have clean covers. When picked up they were still dirty, and not only did they refuse to re-clean them but they refused to issue a refund siting that dry cleaning couldn't help with "those kind of problems." Not only the worst dry cleaners/laundry place, but one of the worst businesses I've interacted with across all categories. The manager seemed nice and helpful when I first met him. That was basically the end of them doing anything helpful or nice. Every time I've brought laundry to this place there was some kind of issue, from broken promises to overcharging to damaged clothes. The worst part is that each time I called and brought up the issue the manager/owner acted like it was *my fault*. His tone is borderline abusive. No matter the situation, I am somehow to blame. He very begrudgingly tries to address the issue, and never does so in a way that makes it right. Terrible service, multiple broken promises, and a rip off even when they don't mess anything up. Shaffer's managed to lose the one item that I took here. They told me they would have the manager call me to arrange to send a check for my lost item, but I never heard from her. It turns out that my skirt had accidentally ended up with someone else's dry cleaning. Fortunately, that person was honest and responsible and returned it to Schaffer's. To their credit, they promptly called me to let me know that the skirt had been found, but then charged me full price despite this entire debacle. I won't be back. I'll be going to Garcia's the next time I need dry cleaning. read more

Do NOT go here! I heard they were eco-friendly and wanted to try them out - I am extremely sorry I did. They lost the belt to my dress and ripped the inside of my suit jacket among other things. I would have been better off sticking my work clothes in the washer at my house. When I called to try to get my belt back, they said they had no record of me going there, even though they were able to pull up my information from my phone number. If you like your clothes even a little, do not trust them to this cleaner. read more

This dry cleaner is notorious for loosing clothes, not handling the clothes in the manor in which the should be, and flat out ruining items. I had a friend whom was employed by them briefly and he was amazed how the company managed to ruin, loose and mishandle clothing. They also treat their employees with utter disrespect and I'm sure that this may have an indirect result on why so many things are ruined or lost. Sure those employed by them hardly care as its has to be a trickle down effect. My fiance brought in shirts to be laundered. 10 of them I believe and 7 of them came back ruined. I had told him to go down the street to Sparkle Cleaners but he got the two confused and went there ( he hasn't been in Tucson very long). Well now he is paying the price. They LOST (according to them, completely vanished from all their stores) two extremely valuable articles of my clothing: the first one, in material value (a 100%silk Ralph Lauren piece), the second one, probably also valuable in terms of $$ b/e of historical interest but, above all, valuable to me for emotional reasons because it was a very cool WWII military overcoat that my Father who served in WWII wore all through his duty in the war and continued to wear until he died. No one at the store ever called me. When I went in to collect my pieces, and they could not find them; the store manager said he would check out the other locations and look into it and then call me. Weeks went by without ever a single word back from him or from anyone else. When I finally called the owner and got the wife on the phone, instead of offering some kind of compensation to make it up to me (although no amount of money could make up for the loss or theft of my Father's coat), she acted as if I was unreasonable expecting that they would try to make amends. She did NOT sound sincerely apologetic. In fact, she was rather haughty and condescending in her tone. She was trying to sound professional; but, in fact, she was NOT at all professional. Her P.R. skills are lousy; and, regardless of what it says on the ticket, if their dry cleaning business loses important pieces of a customer's clothing, basic morality and a proper sense of professional responsibility would dictate that they try in some way to compensate the customer.
