My Order: Chicken Over Rice platter and a Diet Coke The Food: The chicken was juicy and full of flavor like it soaked up every bit of seasoning. The rice was fluffy and tasty and the salad with chickpeas gave a refreshing bite that balanced the meal perfectly. The white sauce brought everything together in the best way. The Atmosphere: Nice clean and friendly with quick service and a welcoming vibe that made the stop even better. The Experience: Overall good from start to finish and definitely a spot I would visit again. Overall Score: 8/10

Shah's Halal Food is a great spot for a quick meal. The service is really quick and my questions were answered promptly. I ordered the chicken & Lamb combo platter. One thing I did wish to add to my order was more green and red hot sauce because I had feared how spicy they could be, however, when I tried the platter, I would have love to add more next time.

The food smells so delicious. I smelled it from across the plaza and knew I had to come here. Came at 10:30pm on a Tuesday and more people were coming after 11pm. They're open till 2 or 3am! The staff were happy and super friendly when we went. We were recommended the fish, but wanted to try everything so we got 2 combo platters. Got one lamb and falafel platter and one chicken and fish platter. The rice was perfectly cooked - al dente, seasoned well, had tons of cumin seeds, and flavorful but not too salty. The meat is tender, soft, flavorful, leaning towards the saltier side, but balanced really well in combination with rice and lettuce. The fish is battered and fried. Super surprised how good it was. So flavorful, soft juicy bites with a crispy thin fried layer. Highly recommend! But would probably only get the fish if I eat it fresh there, not to-go. Each falafel is a pretty large, dense ball but it was cooked all the way through. The outside is crispy, almost crunchy, with a bit of a kick as well. The green sauce was so refreshing with a tiny kick of spicy. Their white sauce is not too heavy. I like their bbq sauce a lot cause it's more refreshing, lighter, and reminds me of an Indian tamarind chutney. Both the falafel and green sauce spicy levels are very mild and they don't linger, which is perfect for me because it feels complimentary to the food rather than overpowering with spicy. I do wish the falafel was a little less dense, but overall still good. Will definitely be coming back regularly.

We were immediately welcomed as we walked in. It didn't take long before recommendations were coming our way. Staff was super patient and even let us taste chicken to make sure it was not too dry for me. Build your own bowl was a success. Very generous portions. Was able to have enough for second meal. Will be returning!

(2/18/2025) ordered online for pickup at the Sand Lake location. Food was packaged and ready and I was a little early to pickup. The parking lot at this plaza at the SW corner of Sand Lake and OBT always sucks. I got in, got a rock star park v space and got out as fast as possible. Since Shah's is not on the Chipotle or Chick Fil-A side of the plaza, traffic is slightly less aggressive and competitive. From my brief chance, the place was clean and tidy, I did not see any immediate seating, just a long takeout counter for ordering, but k also wasn't looking. The food was piping hot when I got to it a few minutes later. All the sauce options seemed accurate (extra white, 3 stripes hit, 3 stripes green and 1 stripe BBQ) on my combo plate. The mix was tasty, the rice was pretty firm, as is the style at most of these halal fast food joints. I personally would like more fresh vegetables, like lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. The combos usual are the end bits and as such, a touch dry. Fast food packaged fried items were fried hard, and were fine. The Pakora Chips are your basic battered potato slice (crosswise round wavy chip-style, not matchsticks). Falafel was pretty dense and dry, I should have gotten a dipping sauce. Overall decent fast food option in that corner if you're nearby.

Not bad but not the best. Be sure to check your takeout or DoorDash orders because they forgot multiple items of mine sadly

I've been back here a couple times to die now and I always enjoy the food. On my latest visit I saw…read morethat they had a special on a three-piece box that came with chicken, nuggets, fries, and a drink. This sounded pretty good, but since I'm not supposed to eat root vegetables, I went to the counter and inquired if I could get a different side. I was informed that they could not change anything about that that particular special but they suggested a three-piece combo which is the same price. The difference being that you don't get the nuggets but get a choice of bread or a tortilla. Needless to say I was a bit disappointed. I did go with the three-piece combo which consisted of three pieces of dark chicken and I got the Campero rice for my side. I also had the dinner roll and a regular drink. Along with this I ordered one of their empanadas because I haven't had one yet. They gave me my number and I went and got my drink and found a place to sit. A very short time later, they came out with my food and I asked if I could get some salt. Apparently there was a complaint from a customer involving salt so they no longer carry salt when you're dining in. They did have hot sauce on the table, so I enjoyed my meal with the green sauce. The chicken as usual was excellent and I do enjoy their rice. The dinner roll was a nice compliment to the meal and I was really impressed with the empanada. I haven't had an empanada that was this packed with goodness in a very long time. I will definitely be back but chances are I will bring my own salt. this is a nice location with a drive-through. On the downside from my point of view is the ordering kiosks that are out front. I won't use those so I just approach the counter and get assistance. The lady that took care of me was really nice and guided me through the ordering process and was also the one who brought me my food when it was ready. if you're looking for a good bone in chicken meal, then this is an excellent place to die. The dining area is well lit and kept clean. I'm always treated well and I always enjoy my meal.

The Chicken Shack (cue B52s) is a nice piece of chicken with lettuce, pickles and sauce. I did add a tomato and onions at no charge. That's a surprise when other places are charging for those add ons. The Cheese Fries (cue Primus) were good too. Freshly made which is always a plus. I've had their burgers before but I think the chicken is just a better value... and I do use the term value loosely. My meal (with a soda pop (cue Hanson)) was over $16 before tax and tip and the only upgrade was the cheese on the fries. Yeah, it's pricey, but it's also pretty good. The store is run pretty efficiently too with a person dedicated to delivering food to tables and keeping things neat and tidy. I need to try an actual Milkshake (cue Village People) sometime as they sound good too.

They made the chocolate around the plastic cup thinking you're getting a chocolate drink. See photo, brown cup. It was a tad disappointing for me because it was missing the chocolate piece. Three stars for the crunchy pistachio milky shake, but I could have given more if there are some chocolate in that spoonful. Did I have to say I love chocolate? Nuf said.

We dined in and were sat in one of the booths. The vibe is like an in-between fast food & hip dine in. My guest had the chicken wing sampler that looked pretty good. I had the grilled red snapper with shrimp, onions and peppers with mac & cheese and greens. It was delicious. The fish was seasoned well and flaky. The shrimp was also seasoned well and cooked perfectly with a snap back exterior and juicy interior. The mac was pretty good, not grandma's, but good. Same sentiment with the greens. Only downside to the greens were the occasional bone from the turkey meat added to the greens. I ended up eating half my meal, so for $29 it wasn't too bad since I can make two meals out of it. I'm known for adding salt to my food before tasting it, but that's not necessary here. They do their seasoning right. I had the fried snapper and shrimp, and it was fabulous!
