Came in from out of town and was a little skeptical eating Indian food in South Dakota but this place is awesome....we ordered take out and received very good service while we waited for our food (which did take a little long), nice decor and the food??? EXCELLENT!! Very authentic they know how to add heat without killing the other flavors. We had Lamb and Chicken Korma, Tandoori Chicken, Samosas and Garlic Naan all delicious. The pickle chutney is great, I wish this restaurant was close to me I would eat here a few times a week. read more

Chicken tiki masala. Says "fantastic!" On the menu. Rice was cold, chicken was not tender, I asked for mild and the chicken Marsala was swimming in tomato sauce. The raita was very good. The place was packed so it must normally be very good. Service was good, waters filled and frequent check ins done. I was asked for feedback and my server was willing to comp the meal. I didn't feel right about that, there was no hair in my food and it was edible. Give them a chance‍ And is your dining experience was similar don't go back. Whenever I pick the spot for dinner, regardless of company, Shahi Is my place. In all honesty Indian food is hard pickings in Sioux Falls, but this still stands as a wonderful place to eat. The staff are on the ball, atmosphere is wonderful, and the food is top notch. It isn't cheap, but it is definitely worth every penny. I would particularly recommend the lunch buffet. I have yet to try a bad menu item, but it is incredibly fun to just throw a variety on the plate and see how everything goes. read more

This is my new favorite restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is very relaxing and pleasant. I only order "mild" food (since I am not a fan of spicy food), and every time I have ordered food and requested it to be mild, the food is mild (not spicy) but delicious and full of flavor. The staff working at the restaurant are super nice, and the prices are great for the quality of food and amount of food that you get. I definitely recommend trying the Mango Lassi, the Butter Paneer, the Butter Chicken, the Krahi Masala, the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Appetizers, the Garlic Naan bread and the stuffed cheese bread. The Shahi Palace is a restaurant that serves 100% authentic Indian cuisine in a classy yet welcoming environment. The menu is extensive, and you really can't go wrong with any of it, if you enjoy Indian food. I always order the vegetarian appetizer sampler, which is a great place to start. I then usually order a curry dish with some garlic naan. The garlic naan is excellent. I also recommend trying a Flying Horse beer. It's a great import and pairs well with the Tandoori grill items, which are fantastic. The service at Shahi Palace is excellent, and to add to the authenticity of the experience there are two large yet unobtrusive TVs that play Indian sports TV, almost always cricket-- so while you're waiting for your food you can pretend like you know what's going on with the bowler and the striker...and well, I don't want to get technical but you get the idea. In short, the Shahi Palace offers great Indian food and a warm ambience that make it one of my favorite restaurants in Sioux Falls. read more

A yummy Indian restaurant in South Dakota?! Who would've thought? I arrived for dinner around 6pm and the place was crowded. A good sign. I was seated immediately. I'll give the food 5 stars, but the service could be a little faster. Took the waiter 10 minutes to come over and ask if I would like something to drink (I'll let this pass simply because it was crowded and I saw him hustling. Maybe add additional staff?). I immediately placed my order. Lentil soup as an appetizer, garlic naan and chicken tikka masala. I was hungry and wanted that soup quick! 15 minutes later it arrived. Hot and tasty. However, my main course arrived about 2 minutes later. Whole point of appetizer is to have it a decent amount of time before your main course. The chicken tikka masala was tender and spicy. Loved it! The garlic naan was buttery, warm and tasty. Loved it! I was stuffed when I left and the pricing was awesome. On my next visit to South Dakota I'm coming back. read more

I'd love to give this place 4 stars, but I believe their menu to be over priced for the portion sizes. I'm a petite person and I need to order two dishes with rice in order to not leave feeling hungry and that means spending $25-$40 just on myself. Mostly I frequent here for the lunch and weekend buffet as that is really where you get your monies worth. I'm greatly disappointed that they did away with the goat on the buffet line as that was really a prime dish. That also leaves me to give fewer stars. I think they do fine with service although it can be often difficult to get refills especially when you are drinking something other than water. I have a love for Indian cuisine and believe the quality was better when they first opened, but I take what I can get when there's not much to pick from in Sioux Falls. read more

Great atmosphere, service, and food. I've been here over 15 times and always get Lamb Madras and Garlic Naan. This is as good as it gets for Indian food in South Dakota. Service and food prep is quick and the food comes spicy and delicious! It is rather hard to find spicy food in the midwest, so when I do I gorge. For the price and portions I would say that the place is solid. I've tried lunch twice and left a bit disappointed, but mainly because the lunch time the items have less flavor, but it is worth the price. read more

This is the BEST Indian food in the area. The restaurant is beautiful, always clean, and the food is always fresh and reasonably priced. Our favorite time to go is during the lunch buffet (but with working, that isn't always an option); especially on Fridays for their Butter Chicken and Spinach dishes. Sometimes the service can be slow. There are times we have to waive down a waiter to refill water cups or go to cash register without bill and have them locate it, but considering how busy it gets in the afternoons and the fact that everything is ALWAYS clean and food is always fresh, we let this go. We love that we can always count on a clean place to eat with fresh food, regardless of how slow or busy it is. read more

I think this place is WORTH a try if you've never been. You might love it and you might not. I won't be returning but maybe it's because I'm not a lover of Indian food in general. So good we went back again the same week. We were travelling through Sioux Falls on a road trip, and stopped here for dinner on the way out, liked it so much we also stopped in on the way back home! My favorite out of all the dishes we had was the butter paneer. The butter sauce was rich and complex, and tasted awesome on the garlic naan. I'm an AZ girl who was looking for some awesome takeout to warm me up in this ridiculously cold weather. This place most certainly fit the bill. The restaurant is super-cozy, modern, classy and clean. There were about 7 or 8 full tables on this Wednesday night and a great vibe. When I showed up to pick up my order, the gentleman at the door knew me by name and was extremely friendly and personable. Food came out quickly and I was on my way! I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Samosas and everything was absolutely delish...the chutneys that came along with my order were fantastic as well. This restaurant has lovely and authentic food. My husband and I love eating here when we're in Sioux Falls. Sometimes we'll drive to Sioux Falls just to eat here, however the service can be slow. We've found the best time to eat here is in the evening. They do have a lunch buffet, but each time we've eaten here for lunch we get the vibe that they do not want you to order off the menu and that they'd like you to stick to the buffet. They do not deny you menu orders however. My husband is from London England where they have an Indian restaurant on every corner, and he's consistently pleased with the food. I am a pescetarian, and my husband a vegetarian. This place offers plenty of dishes for both. The shrimp tikka masala and garlic naan are my favorites! Wonderful flavor. I will say that we've eaten at the Sioux City Shahi Palace and we definitely prefer the Sioux Falls location. The service is less helpful (almost seems annoyed to help customers), and the food was bland. How does that work when they're owned by the same people? read more

Typically I go somewhere twice before I review because everyone has off days and slow days, obviously the food should be great. But I have only been once and already know I'll be back. I spent a year living in Japan and one thing I missed so much is the great Indian food you can get there. Well I've been back for 6 years and I can hands down say that this is the best place I've found since coming back! Service was great for me, they were polite and kind. Came back to check but not overbearing and water was refilled promptly. (Which if you get anything in 'Hot' you are definitely going to need that water!). The person I was with for the Chicken Madras in Hot and I did the Shrimp Tikka Masala in Medium and even medium was spicy enough. We also ordered the Naan and that was great!
