Today was the day I finally got to try something from Shaka!!! I was passing by and decided to tried the "clean complexion" smoothie. Let me say it was really refreshing and for some reason much better than the ones I make at home lol The spot at Hoboken has a tropical vibe and also they have their own merch which btw its pretty but don't have tags on it and didn't feel like asking for the price. One of the things I really liked it's that their açaí bowls and smoothies have a base price and you just get to pick what you want in it. I will definitely come back to try one of their açaí bowls and salad bowls to see if those prices are worth it. Finally, they were two girls working at the location and they both were pretty nice. They bring your food to the table which I liked but it's not necessary in my opinion :)

Classic acai spot. No complaints. Acai didn't taste like it had much added sugar which is a plus. Only two people working, but wasn't busy at all so it was relatively quick service. They had outdoor seating which we enjoyed!

This was a nice casual spot for a healthy breakfast or lunch. There is seating both inside and outside.

Super basic tacos n coffee.. was referred by local nearby business to get açaí bowls but hungry after a workout class and thought to give tacos a try and just like other reviews the sauce on top was the flavor and actually a bit too much that it overpowered everything. I've been to Hawaii and this didn't bring me back.. Pork was tender and no flavor, chicken dry and bbq jackfruit ok. I will give them another try on açaí bowls since that's all i sellae people walking out with 2 stars because the staff was courteous. Shaka Latte just tasted like regular coffee with lots of cinnamon.

***EDITED*** My fiancé and I have been to Shaka several times... whenever his craving for a poke bowl inevitably comes up. I don't typically go for the poke bowls... instead I opt for the lava rock shrimp tacos. They come with a nice topping of crispy cabbage and a generous dressing of the spicy Shaka sauce (which is like a spicy mayo). Definitely recommend! We also like the avocado egg rolls as an appetizer. Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside! Comes with the spicy mayo sauce too. We experienced a problem the other night (where the salmon was left out of our salmon poke bowl) but this problem has been promptly resolved after communicating with the business owner. I was advised to reach out via the Shaka website about any feedback- response time is fast!

Our family has been customers since Shaka opened--we are very grateful for the staff, positive energy, and food/drink options at both locations. Our favorite food item is the tacos, followed closely by chips & guac. For drinks we usually get the happy Hawaiian smoothie, but the summer watermelon special is also a favorite. Also love the smoothie that's for coffee in it!! We are very grateful to have this business as neighbors & friends!

    Awesome poke bowl!!!

This spot is tucked away in the Monroe Center but the food definitely speaks for itself. I liked the poke bowl with a whole bunch of toppings. I won't bore you with what I got but rvery topping was fresh which is important. I always prefer the toppings that are crunchy like the wonton chips, crispy onions, and edamame. The sauces also worked but I wish they put more sauce on. My wife got the chicken bowl since she is pregnant and can't eat raw fish. She wasn't the biggest fan of it so I would stick to the poke here. All in all, it is a solid choice. Poke bowls seemed to really have taken off the last few years and this is a place that does it right. Check it out.

First and foremost just want to say Shaka bowl is a must go to if you're feeling hungry. This little shop tucked away in Monroe is one of my favorites. I usually go for the tacos cause they are to die for, but today I went with some friends and we opted to go for Mauna Kea Tuna bowl and a spicy salmon bowl and we were not disappointed at all. This dish had everything from flavor to presentation and it just bursted off your tastebuds. The staff is very friendly and seem to enjoy what they do and the results show for themselves. I highly recommend Shaka bowl to anyone who walks by and is looking to grab a bite to eat, and me and my friends will definitely be coming back for more!!! Keep up the good work, Great environment=Great Food

The food choices in West Hoboken continue to grow, and Shaka Bowl is another welcome addition. I've visited twice and tried various ingredients in my customized poke bowl. You receive a generous portion for $14, with plenty of protein, so definitely come hungry or be prepared to take some home. Everything tasted fresh and of good quality, only note might be the blackened chicken was a bit bland. The servers/preparers are very professional. Both the food service and the seating areas are kept very clean. It's a small place and ten people could make it feel crowded, although there are a few, small outdoor tables for the nice weather. Shaka Bowl has a loyalty card where you can eventually earn a free item. The hours are excellent, open for early morning coffee and oatmeal, straight through to lunch and dinner. Acai bowls, smoothies, and frozen yogurt are also popular choices. I highly recommend supporting this small business providing the west side of Hoboken with great, healthy food choices.

This is an amazing additional to the hoboken food scene. I am utterly obsessed with the vegan funfetti cookie (and im far from vegan). The poke bowls they have are always fresh and amazing. The salmon peanut bowl is my favorite. I havent had a lot of smoothies here just because they arent my thing, but ive had some sips here and there and they are also amazing. Def recommend going here when u want a healthy filling meal or snack. Their bowls come in two sizes which is convenient when i just want to have a small dinner

Worst poke bowl I've ever had. The fish tasted slimy and warm. The rice was not thoroughly cooked through / tasted a few days old. I couldn't even finish the meal bc I got grossed out while eating the mushy texture. Would not come back.

    Leslie R.

I've been trying to find a good poke bowl around the area and came across this place and my prayers have been answered! Definitely recommend It looks to me that the small size poke bowl wasn't going to be enough for me so I decided to go with the large but I couldn't even finish it. A small is enough for you to eat and I didn't feel overstuffed or gross after eating the bowl which made me very happy. With the large you're allowed unlimited sides so that's awesome. If you get the small you're limited to 5 but even that is just the right amount. The only thing I will say is it needs just a little more flavor, I got the teriyaki sauce but seemed too much like soy sauce. Regardless the place was good!

    Fun stickers!

We sat at the bar, which was actually kind of fun because we could watch them prepare all the food right in front of us. Everything we had was really good and full of flavor. It was definitely something different than your typical taco place. The drinks were very good too and about average strength. Prices were pretty much what you would expect for Chelsea Market and NYC, so no real surprises there. One of the best parts of our visit was the service. Everyone was super friendly and attentive and really made it a great experience. The food came out fresh and everything we tried was really tasty. Overall, this was a really cool find. Great food, good drinks, a fun atmosphere and top-notch service. If you're walking through Chelsea Market and want to try something a little different, I definitely recommend stopping at Takumi Taco. The people who work here are complete and total JERKS!!…read moreHorrendous service. DO NOT EAT HERE!! We came here at 815pm and he told us the kitchen was closing at 845pm - ok no worries. So we ordered right away when we sat down. We told them in advance someone in our party couldn't have any aioli or crema cause they were allergic. It didn't seem to matter, they brought out over half the dishes with aioli/crema so we had to send them back. When we sent them back the short guy at the cash register gave me a death glare and was shaking his head and staring at me in disdain - as if I was the one who prepared it improperly... This same guy when we ordered was super rude with any dish/taco we inquired about. Then at 850pm, he started shooing everyone out when almost everyone (the bar area was 3/4 full) was still eating and/or drinking and told them they had to leave immediately... some people had just gotten their food and were stunned that he was so adamant about everyone leaving so abruptly, claiming "security was going to lock them into the restaurant" if people weren't out in 2min- it clearly states that they don't close until 9pm... this unpalatable individual was shorter than everyone else with a beard and hat if management wants to reprimand him for having 0 customer service/hospitality (he was also a cashier - the guy who took our order wasn't as bad, but his coworker was so rude it overshadowed everything). The tacos were awful (made the mistake of not going to Los Tacos instead...), and I'm irritated I tipped over 20% to be treated like shit. DO NOT GO HERE!! YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AND WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

The ingredients were fresh, but the cut size are not consistent for example the salmon pieces were little bit too big, and pineapple slices were too small, while the avocado was just a scope which made it annoying to cut through.

The food is decently priced and reasonable given the promotions on Uber Eats and tastes fine, but the enumerated flaws are quite cumbersome and difficult to overlook. (Sushi Burrito: F) - Unfortunately, this burrito fell through not only in standards but physically through the wrapping as it was not properly sealed in the first place. While I think the flavors and contents are reasonable, the unwrapped burrito felt like just trying to eat a poke bowl in your hands which does not work. I would not recommend offering a sushi burrito if it cannot be properly wrapped as one. (Spicy Crab Salad: F) - I would not call this a salad but more so sesame seeds, masago dumped on top of some imitation crab. While others have certainly made this work in the past, this dish was just incomplete as its missing both a base (salad, rice, or both works) and some interesting textural contrasts normally found in a salad such as tempura flakes and cucumber. They have all the items to make a better version of this, but the execution whoever designed this menu just either didn't think this through or didn't taste it. (Chicken Potstickers: D) - I was pleasantly surprised by that sweet yuzu ginger dipping sauce that was quite pleasant. I think that sauce works well as a topping, but perhaps as a flavor booster for a salad or poke bowl rather than these dumplings as they are already light to begin with and definitely needs something like a ponzu or wasabi soy to drive the flavor. (Black Tonkotsu Ramen: D) - The main part, the broth of this Tonkotsu actually has some nice pork development that gives the soup a powerful richness. There are some specifics that could be improved such as the color of that pork as it just looks underdeveloped in color, and in turn, flavor. However, the biggest issue is the poor packaging of this , where the broth does not stay in its container, making this quite messy for takeout. I feel that the containers need to be better and perhaps wrapping them in a plastic bag for extra security would be helpful. -- Food: -1 Presentation: -1 Price: E Overall: -2 D Insta/Beli: @amei_eats
