Keepin it real out here in Union Square I try to eat healthy from time to time, and find myself eating this a lot. Not cheap but it's good protein :D

"To The Max Protein" Poke Bowl (~$18)
    Aya E.

Ordered: "To The Max Protein" Poke Bowl (~$18): brown rice, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, shrimp, cucumber, edamame, scallion, masago, seaweed salad, ginger, mushrooms, crispy onion, rice puffs, with sesame ginger and spicy ponzu sauces Aya's take: I love poke and when we came to Poke Bowl, I actually wanted to try their Crack Rice. I love that it's an option and after having it at a few restaurants, it's great to see it at a fast casual place like this. However, when I got there, the crispy rice didn't look fresh and the workers didn't look like they were going to make fresh ones if I ordered it, so I went with the safe option of a poke bowl. The "To The Max" option gives you 3 choices of protein. This bowl is pretty big, so if you're not super hungry, it's great for sharing! The fish was mostly fresh, and they give plenty of toppings. It was good but definitely not the best I've had in the city. Hopefully I can try out the Crack Rice if they can make it fresh.

I came here for the Crack Rice and the Crack Rice ONLY, and it did not disappoint. I am admittedly not a big fan of poke bowls in general. They're not texturally for me. I have been wanting to try the Crack Rice from this location for quite some time though, and finally got a chance to visit today. Of course, I went with the 8pc. Crack Rice Mix box ($17.99) with 2 pieces topped with spicy tuna, 2 pieces with spicy salmon, 2 pieces with spicy shrimp and 2 pieces with avocado. All are topped with a mini jalapeno slice for an extra kick. Aside from the crispy rice (which was still hot when I got my order), the other stars of the show were the SAUCES. This box came with 3 - some sort of soy dip (chef's kiss), a white wasabi dip (the best one out of the three!), and a spicy mayo, all of which were so, so good. Of the rice toppings, the spicy shrimp was my least fave, so I'd probably skip that one next time. Definitely 5 stars for taste, presentation, and quick staff. Portion wise, the 8 pc. box was okay for me, but it seems like it may not be enough for someone with a bigger appetite. Pro tip - order in advance vs. in store to avoid waiting on a long line.

My daughter and I came for lunch and had fabulous poke bowls. We built our own. I had half soba and half brown rice and she had just brown rice. I had salmon, tuna and salmon skin and she had teriyaki salmon (hot) and salmon. All delicious! The salmon skin is a new option for me and I loved the crunch, plus of course it's packed with omega 3s. The food was all fresh and they don't limit your topping, crunch or sauce choices which I appreciate. This was some of the best poke I've had in a while and I'll definitely be back!

Solid poke bowl for takeout lunch. The tuna and salmon tastes fresh! Good amount in the portion too

Review is based only on their cracked rice. Overpriced. 8 pcs for $18 (with tax, $19). The crispy rice was too hard to bite into, made my teeth hurt. I was only able to eat 3 pieces before I decided to have mercy on my teeth and just threw the rest out. They give a variety of sauces though: spicy mayo, soy sauce, garlic (?) sauce, and idk the other.

I find Poke Bowl to be incredibly tasty. My go-to choice is the Teriyaki Salmon warm poke bowl with Brown Rice, which is consistently prepared fresh. I appreciate the option to customize my bowl with a variety of ingredients. The seating may be limited, but I always manage to arrive at the perfect time. The staff is always kind and patient. I have visited the restaurant so many times that I have lost track.

It's an awesome poke bowl with a few different options. It was big enough to share for a nice snack and quick and easy to get and make a stop and enjoy it.

We ordered delivery (can't comment on the restaurant space of service) and it arrived hot and fresh. We tried the make your own poke bowl with salmon and tuna (you get to pick two which I really like), over white rice with edamame, cucumber, avocado, mango, sesame seeds, onion crisps, seaweed salad and the poke sauce (with a side of siracha aiolic) along with the two protein BBQ bowl with beef bulgogi and pork katsu, with cole slaw and mac and cheese over hawaiian fried rice with katsu sauce. The katsu was still crispy and while I don't normally care much for fried rice, the hawaiian fried rice was very good. The poke bowl was fresh with a good amount of fish and again, I loved all of the toppings and things that you can add for free (the avocado is extra). Both bowls were very tasty and good sized portions. Given the quality and quantity, the prices were very reasonable (especially compared to other poke places) and I would definitely order from here again.

None of the uncanny AI slop photos of the food ever resemble the actual slop actually being served out of some sketchy nondescript door. There's at least two other fake restaurants besides this one that I've caught operating out of this specific 5th Ave location ("Glazed Hen" Korean fried chicken is another one), but whichever group runs them always sets up the same slate of fake restaurants in the same buildings. 1140 Utica Ave in Brooklyn is another known physical location they operate this scam out of. In the meantime I need for y'all to be a bit smarter when you go on these apps. DoorDash usually labels ghost kitchen junk "virtual brand" in small print on the store page, but UberEats and the rest all lie. If it's a place with a weird name that you never heard of that's delivering at all hours and has a suspiciously high rating on the delivery apps compared to here on Yelp, despite having no internet presence to speak of (no social media) it's a huge red flag. Don't support this scam.

It is a small Hawaiian place that serves fresh food. The owner is friendly. The portion size of the food is a lot, so you will definitely not get hungry. Below are a few items that I had tried: Sushi Taco - I typically get ahi tuna or salmon (both are always fresh) mixed with spicy mayo. Hawaiian BBQ Plate - you have the option to do 1 to 3 proteins with 2 sides. The proteins that I typically pick are chicken katsu, bulgogi beef, or grilled shrimp. The sides that I typically pick are seaweed salad, charred broccoli, and crabmeat salad. Poke Bowl - you can't go wrong with picking ahi tuna or salmon (assuming you have no issues eating raw food) as your protein. Gyoza - it is fried and crispy, and I would recommend this over the pork dumplings. Pork Dumplings - it is so-so. The skin on the dumplings is too thick. Spam Musubi - it's just spam meat & seaweed wrapped over rice. Nothing too special. Overall, give this place a try if you're ever around this area!

Unfortunately, this scallion pancake was kind of soggy. I ate it at a countertop at the front of the store, so it wasn't like I was carrying it in a takeout box and it got soggy over time. I wanted to like it, especially since it's got everything I like: scallion pancake, ahi tuna, salmon, veggies, all wrapped up into burrito form. But the soggy scallion pancake was kind of a letdown.

Regarding my order, the goma shoyu tuna, the fish was good, but not great and for my bowl at least, I felt it was lacking in flavor. But if I had to choose between a bowl of ramen from a Japanese restaurant or this saimin, you can't pay me to choose the latter. It was like a whitewashed version of ramen, in which the broth had a vegetable flavor and not rich at all. The toppings were Naruto slices and bits of veggies. The katsu was ok but not memorable.
