This was my second time trying Poke Rice and I told myself I'd try the poke this time instead of the temaki rolls and honestly, it was still just ok. We visited Poke Rice for a work dinner in NYC, we ordered a large order for takeout and this location was super accommodating and got us our order very quickly!! When I arrived, I had staff members greet me and offered to help me with all of the bags. One of the staff members asked me how far I was going and offered to even walk a few blocks with me. When I told them that I was going to be taking an Uber, they helped me to the car when it was time. We ordered a variety of bowls, and they have something for everyone. They have chicken bowls, salmon bowls, tuna bowls, tofu bowls, etc.. Everyone in my group was pleased with their balls, the size of their balls, and the overall taste of their bowls. I personally ate the spicy tuna bowl and it had a nice kick to it. The bowls may look tiny on first glance, but they are actually quite filling. One thing I wish that they did was label the bowls, but outside of this, I have been thinking about my poke bowl ever since!! They have a great team here and great, fresh poke! read more

I've had a lot of poké bowls, and this was okay at best. The service was good, though, and the staff really fill up your bowl, so that is a positive. The restaurant is well decorated and has an adorable flower/grass wall inside. I would come here again if I were craving a poké bowl and I was in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, though. read more

My Michelin days are on hold with market uncertainty, but still eating well. This spot has tremendous value and is good! My second favorite poke, first is Sherry Blossom Long Beach, but I digress. Quite the bargain. I'd say this is probably my favorite walk up and order build your own poke spot in Manhattan out of the five I've tried so far. The bowls are huge--definitely generous in size. While the protein portions aren't overwhelming, they're solid and satisfying. I really appreciate that they still offer masago--so many places have dropped it lately. I do wish they had sunomono, but it's a minor miss. Contrary to some other reviews, they do let you add several types of sauces, which is a big plus. The fish was fresh, which is the most important part. The restaurant itself wasn't the cleanest, but it was acceptable. Staff weren't especially friendly, but they got the job done. read more

I got the 2 protein bowl and the spicy mayo sauce with all thr toppings I can get: they limited to 4 (pineapple, cucumber, masago, seaweed salad) and more rice toppings (garlic chips, shredded nori). However, the rice to sauce ratio was so bad. It was so dry. I didnt think there was enough salmon. I ordered spicy salmon and scottish salmon and couldnt tell if I had only one or both. I was also surprised how we can only order one sauce. No matter how I tried to mix it, it was dry and it didnt taste like the poke I'm used to getting without some type of shoyu sauce. Overall so many other spots to choose from. read more

One of my favorite spots in Manhattan to get fresh and affordable poke! I always stop by when I crave poke because not only is their protein always fresh but the serving size is great as well! Though they do give quite a bit of rice, I do feel that they don't skimp on toppings. Quite honestly a bowl could be two meals if you aren't too hungry. One huge perk is their unlimited toppings. I know some shops limit you to a certain number but you can add on as many as you want here. They do have seats indoors but it's quite limited so probably not the best spot to eat in with a larger group. All in all, a super solid place to satisfy your poke cravings!! read more

Dare I say PokeRice is one of the best places in the city to find Poke! Came here for a quick lunch and I got a veggie bowl with half zucchini noodles and half white rice with tons of veggies, tofu, vegan beef, and spicy mayo! So delicious and one bowl comes with unlimited toppings like seaweed salad and garlic chips. This bowl was so filling and flavorful and fresh and my friend who got a salmon bowl also really enjoyed hers too. This will definitely be a regular lunch spot! read more

2/3 Food + Beverages; 1/1 Service; 1/1 Value I found PokeRice spontaneously and I am so glad I found this gem! It is bright and airy with limited seating, including a communal set up. Given their location, however, taking the food to-go to Washington Sq. Park or the West Village piers is accessible and very pleasant on a warm day, which is what my friend and I ended up doing. Service is quick and efficient, and they also have some deals, e.g. free miso soup with the purchase of a poke bowl. Unlike many other poké restaurants, there is no limit on mix-ins and toppings at PokeRice and they allow half/half bases with no additional cost. I love getting many mix-ins for a variety of flavors and textures, so this was right up my alley. Every ingredient tasted fresh and prepared with care, even the fruits and veggies that are not in season (e.g. mangoes)! My only qualm is that I wish the spicy salmon was better seasoned and spicier. They really packed in all of the ingredients and do not skimp on the proteins, such that even though I got a medium (2 proteins), I could probably make one bowl last two meals. read more

I attended an event nearby and came here for some poke bowls and sushi-ritos to go. It was my first visit and I'm always overwhelmed when there's a lot from which to choose. I had to take a second to look over the menu before making my options. I got myself a sushi burrito and two bowls for the fellas back at home. The staff was great at measuring out all my add-ons so that the burrito stayed nice and compact, easy to eat. I've been back again since my first visit and had a burrito made but the guy put way too much filling and the burrito was huge and falling apart. I mean I still ate it and it tasted great, so no harm, no foul. All of their ingredients are very fresh and clearly labeled. The menu is easy to understand and I love that they have Temaki. I always order salmon skin hand rolls for my sushi lunches but have not tried one here. They have veggie options with is great. My sister and her bf would be able to get something tasty from here. The portions are decent and they don't overkill with the rice in the burritos which I appreciate. Any time in the area, I will stop by, even if to grab takeout. The burritos can be eaten next day and maintain good flavor and texture. read more

I was particularly intrigued by the vegan beef, which turned out to be chewy but very tasty. The ingredients were fresh and the spicy mayo dressing complemented everything well. I have been coming to PokeRice for the past 2 years; Poke is one of my all time favorite foods so I come here to satisfy my cravings. Regular bowls are 2 scoops of your choice of fish for around $13 and large bowls are 3 scoops for around $16. Miso soup is always on the house if you ask for it. They have signature bowls on the menu but you can also build your own bowl. Overall, PokeRice serves up OK poke bowls. The portions of fish aren't that great and the rice is sometimes cold and/or hard. I do enjoy the sauces offered as well as the variety of toppings to choose from; those taste pretty good as well. They do give a pretty decent amount of the toppings and are willing to give more if you ask for it. The staff is pretty fast at putting out orders, but from all of my visits, I've noticed they lack enthusiasm and don't give off a very welcoming atmosphere. It lowkey feels as though my presence was an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. I still come back though because it's the only decent poke place in my neighborhood. As a side note, PokeRice also partakes in NYU's restaurant week so it's best to avoid the shop around that time. You won't be able to miss the long lines wrapping around the building during Restaurant Week (usually once in the Fall and Spring Semesters). read more

Their topping choices are quite unique with a lot of fresh fruits and veggies from pineapple to mango to tomato, but also a lot of pickled items and crispies like wonton crisps and lotus chips. Every part of this bowl was fantastic, except for the fish, which unfortunately did not taste very fresh. as a cali girl i've been missing poke and looking for comparable places in nyc. pokerice was right in my area, so i decided to get their two protein bowl. i got a base of half rice and half salad. i also saw they had black rice which was cool! first off they really load you up with the rice. most of my bowl was filled with it. then i got their regular ahi tuna(?) and spicy tuna. the spicy tuna had a strange peachy orange color like canned tuna but it thankfully tasted normal. the ahi tuna was okay and tasted fresh. i had to dock some stars because the portions were very skimpy when it came to the protein. they give two very small scoops. however they loaded it up with the other toppings. my favorite was the fresh mango! also they gave free miso soup with the order. if i am ever craving poke i might come back read more

New-ish restaurant near NYU, West 4th street train station. It's comfy inside, has 3 tables and multiple benches/stools. They have a pretty extensive menu: signature bowls for $12.95 or pick two proteins and make it yourself (12.95) or three proteins for 15.95, different hand rolls and a la carte options. They also have limited black rice so when she said they had it, I figured I had to try it. Fish was pretty fresh, decent serving size and was all around tasty. They were offering free miso soup with a meal purchase at the time I went so maybe that'll be a thing when you (the reader) goes. If you're in the area and craving poke, definitely check this place out. read more

I thought this place was really good. Ordered pickup the other day after seeing all the positive reviews and will definitely return. The Poke is decently priced, with bowls running you $12 for two proteins and $14 for three proteins. Toppings are not unlimited but they give you enough choices where it's not a problem. I ordered the three protein option with tuna, yellowtail, and salmon with a variety of toppings like cucumber, mango, edamame, etc. The bowl was delicious and everything tasted fresh. My favorite part about this place compared to other poke places is that the pieces of fish were relatively small - which was nice because they almost blended into the bowl more seamlessly. I made my own bowl with salmon as my protein and I like that this place allows you to add as much as you want into your bowl. The food was pretty good but the fish was a little mushy for my taste. Fast and amazing service. This is a go-to spot for some poke. I get a bowl (i recommend for max volume) and I particularly like the spicy tuna and salmon. If you don't like seafood there are chicken and tofu options too, but I don't think the chicken is especially common/popular. The standout poke toppings are here and clearly labeled and it is easy to maneuver through the line. The West Village is not bereft of eating options, that's for sure, and Jamie W. and I thought we should grab something quick before we met up with our friend Carlos in Washington Square. I had this impulsive idea to grab a cup of bone broth at Brodo, but Jamie was smart enough to realize that wouldn't sustain us over the long walks we were planning to take around the Village. We were stepping off 6th Avenue and saw this spot as a healthy option for us. It turned out we were right as a pizza slice disaster was averted by common sense. I ordered the $11.90 Yellowtail and Salmon Poke over Zucchini Noodles. We liked how they offered the zucchini as a rice substitute even if it probably made the bowl wetter than I was hoping. I did not taste any chili oil and the only real flavor present in the dish came from the seaweed salad. Chikarashi does not allow you to make your own poke bowl, which I feel is unfortunate. I usually like to get both tuna and salmon and add a bunch of toppings/ingredients and that is not an option for any of their bowls.

On my second visit I decided on the bergamot honey latte--again it see very good...the bergamot is there but not over powering. This time I got the banana bread and it was superb! Take your coffee and treats to the park across the street with benches. You can people watch and enjoy your morning coffee!!
