    Wicked decor!!!
    Elle S.

Love stopping by here after a PPAC show. They were allllll decked out in Wicked themed decor while the show is in town for a couple weeks, I WAS OBSESSED. A+++ for theme + effort! My lime stick even had a little witch hat on it = pure Wicked perfection (did have to request this after seeing it on someone else's drink as it did not come on mine). The Wicked themed cocktails made this feel even more special and I hope they continue to lean into the themes of whatever show is in town...or just keep the Wicked stuff up forever, I love it so much that that would also be acceptable. The Playlist was so fun and upbeat tonight. My drink (the Fiyero's Spritz) was supposed to have butterfly pea simple in it but wasn't too purple and didn't taste like it was included, so that was a little sad. I asked for some extra simple syrup for my drink - the cocktails here are never too sweet in general. Sometimes service can take a while, but it's also 2 bartenders and a packed house once a show gets out. Overall this was an extra ~ magical ~ experience tonight at a place that's quickly becoming a go-to for this theater lover.

    Aperol Spritz at the bar

A fellow Yelper introduced me to Shake N Speare, a new bar/restaurant across from PPAC. Classy, with a speakeasy vibe, it's the newest venture from the owners of the Providence Eagle, an iconic downcity gay bar. We sat at the big U-shaped bar, although there are a few tables for 2. I loved that the bar stools were not terribly high (great for shorties like me) and really comfortable. I had the honey buffalo wings, and they might be the best wings I've ever had. I'm already craving more! My dining companion had a pepperoni flatbread, which was also very tasty. I had already indulged in a glass of wine before arriving, so I didn't experience the beverage menu, but my companion enjoyed their Aperol Spritz. Food prices were very reasonable. In addition to an assortment of wings and flatbreads, they also offered several different charcuterie boards. There is metered parking in the vicinity as well as paid lots, but be prepared to do a little walking on theater nights.

I was lucky to have tried North when it was open so when I saw the former chefs were preparing the meal for Chef Night, I knew I had to sign up and was so glad I did. The meal was stupendous! The first course was shrimp and corn fritters. The fritters were filled with shrimp and corn and you can visually see the shrimp and corn. It wasn't overly doughy and the sauce was delicious! Chef Andrew described the dish and he told us that the shrimp was locally sourced from Dune Brothers. The second course was noodles with tomato and pepper dashi and grilled fish. The noodles were fresh, but it started to get a little clumpy. The dashi was really flavorful. The third course was miso tres leches cake with sakura whipped cream. This course I was the most excited about and it totally blew my expectations. Chef Andrew told us that they hand picked sakura petals and made their own whipped cream. The tres leches cake was moist, dense, and airy. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. Bravo to chefs Andrew McQuesten and Stephen Sternkopf for a wonderful locally sourced meal. Jean-Marc and the other bartender were also very friendly and accommodating. They checked on all the customers throughout the night and made yummy drinks. I had the Toasted Venture. This is one of the signature cocktails and has Toasted Pumpkin Seed-Infused Misguided Spirits Red Sky Silver Rum/Cynar/St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur/Rosemary Elixir/Mole Bitters. It was very good. A time at Clementine's is always wonderful.

A lovely woman in the restroom overheard my friend and I unsure on where to venture, and she suggested this place! Moody and welcoming. Absolutely loved it. We went in ~10:45 on a Wednesday pm. Apparently they do live jazz weekly as well, but we'd come too late. A handful of bar patrons, a couple making out in the back of the dining room at their cute table, a lovely bartender, me& my bff. We really hit the jackpot for ambiance last night. Decor in there is so cute. I wish I took a picture of the table lamp on the bar. It was embellished with beads hanging on the rim of the shade. Our drinks were top notch. Mine was a citrus vanilla profile and hers was a savory martini. The sandwich, I had one bite of it was yummy. I don't like imitation lunch meats though. CATFISH was breaded and fried fabulously. Not oily. Crispy and crunchy. So happy to have discovered this place! The bartender told us they just celebrated 6 years of business!
