Been a Bradenton resident for 8+ years and this is my favorite place for a shake. Burgers are phenomenal and the place exudes a small town charm. Not sure what that one review encountered but I was short 50 cents on my last visit and the cashier told me it was no big deal. Was starving and driving around looking for McDonald's or anything familiar. Saw the bright lights and tons of people on line at 9:45pm. Made a u-turn and SO glad I did. Got a cheeseburger with everything (lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo, pickles) and a chocolate and vanilla swirl kid's size in a cup with chocolate sprinkles. The burger was meaty and greasy and delicious. The kind of delicious where you take a few bites, then suddenly it is gone and you wonder where it went. The burger wasn't one of those processed patties. It was the real deal. Someone ordered a banana split and it was HUGE! I wondered if I made a mistake with just getting the swirl. :) Headed to the shore, but will definely stop by again when backtracking north. read more

They are the best for hamburgers & French Fries & the Onion rings are the best too. It seems I only want them on Wednesdays and they're closed on Wednesdays. But I was there on a Thursday this time. I love it. It's a great old fashioned type burger place. The owners and staff are super friendly. They have a small indoor 50's style counter where you can eat, or you can take your food and ice cream out to the nice big outdoor sitting area. Great old school burger and ice cream joint. Classic crinkle fries are a nice change from the generic fries everywhere else. Burgers are filling and juicy and shakes are creative and delicious. Big fan of the root beer shake. The staff were helpful when I asked what are the most popular shakes and the service was quick and efficient. I try to go here whenever I visit Bradenton. This is my first and last trip to shake pit! I never leave reviews but I truly felt like this one was needed. If I could leave no stars I would. This place has the worst service of any place I have ever been too! Stood at the front of the line for 20 minutes without someone taking our order, after waiting 15ish minutes in line. They had political sign holders in front of there establishment that they chose to feed infront of there paying customers. Just absolutely ridiculous. The shake Pit has been around since Adam and Eve apparently and so has their menu. Burgers, hot dogs, fries and great milk shakes. You expect to see a southern version of Fonsie and Richie to be eating at a table. BUT they do not have a single healthy item on the menu. Would it break some sort of old fashioned restaurant law to throw a chicken breast on the grill? Would Fonsie accept this? Also they do not take credit cards. I can't give this place any less than 5 stars simply because I've been obsessing over their malts and they've been on my mind since I first went over a year ago. I'm tempted to drive here for a malt every time I'm on the Skyway(north side). I had my 5 year old with me last weekend and our fishing trip was cut short by the rain, so it was the perfect excuse to drive over here. The malt(root beer flavor) was everything I dreamed about/remembered and more. Their malts are THE reason why I love here so much. There are soooo many flavors to choose from. I've had one "standard", which requires a spoon, but this one was "drinkable" since I was driving. My daughter had a strawberry shake that was super thick, which also required a spoon. I also gave in to an impulse buy and got the fried mushrooms. They only have one size, and it is big enough to share. They were good, but not remarkable. I had forgotten that they were CASH ONLY, so I got to walk in the rain to the CVS across the lot for cash. Don't be like me and forget or otherwise not bring cash. The staff and service were friendly enough. I will definitely be back, as I'm also curious to try their burgers and chili cheese fries. read more

The shakes were yummy! Really thick though... my little one ate hers w/a spoon. We tried chocolate, banana, & mint and all were good. The Oreo mix up (like a DQ blizzard) was good too. Simple operation cash only run mostly by high school kids. The food is nothing special burgers fries pretty good shakes and malts. Most of the time for my family of four we spend between 40 to 50 dollars which is a bit on the pricy side for a burger joint. Limited inside counter seating so plan on eating your meal in the Florida heat. And hope it is not election time or you will have your eyes harassed by all the campaign signage that the owners put up. read more

Don't bother coming here unless you have cash. I've tried to eat here twice now, and not been able to order anything either time. The first time I was sent away because I only had visa debit cards on me, and the second time I was sent away because apparently, even though its an outdoor restaurant with picnic tables for seating, dogs are not allowed. Burgers were amazing fresh and made to order, multiple shake options, they were what you would expect a little to thick for my taste had to eat it with a spoon. Staff was friendly for the most part except for the lady that took our order she became annoyed that we asked what came on the burgers as this was our first time there. She became affronted when we asked for no onion she also didn't inform us of mayo but luckily there was hardly any on it to notice. Definitely recommend trying them though. read more
