Shake Shack fan here, as they've elevated the burger game and have a distinct offering from its rivals. The taste to me is like fancy backyard smash burgers with fresh ingredients, brioche bun, and a burger where you can really taste the meat. Aside from the shack burgers, the shroom burgers are surprisingly tasty as well (when you bite you get a nice cheese pull). Prices are a bit scary and always have been- but lookout for BOGO coupons online before you go. It makes meals here a bit more palatable. The Brea location does offer a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, but the seating and parking situation can get quite squirly during peak times- so plan accordingly. read more

I tried the newly released BBQ burger. Even though there weren't many customers, it took 25 minutes--much longer than usual. It featured an artificial-tasting BBQ sauce with a spicy kick, and I found it to be a bit too salty. It seemed like they put way too much sauce on it relative to the size of the chicken (to the point that the burger was soggy and dripping with it). The chicken patty was small, with coleslaw added, but it was not nearly enough to balance out the sauce's flavor. Whether the blame goes on the person who designed the BBQ sauce or the person who assembled the burger, I'm not sure, but for a $15 burger, it's...something. read more

We could not have been any more disappointed ! First it was very expensive over $22 for the basic single hamburger , chocolate shake, and french fries - It was the worst quality. I expect a really great burger when I'm spending over $8 for it ! The beef patty really tasted bad, it was flat and fried. I expected a "grilled" burger, not a fried one. Since I had a giftcard I ordered at the counter and received great service. The seating area is big and offer high top and low top tables . After a run along The Tracks in Brea, where we chased our little guy on his bike for a few miles, we thought we deserved a treat. Well, that treat was a trip to the brand new Shake Shack. And it was AWESOME! We ordered a couple Shake Shack burgers which were Angus beef cheeseburgers with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun and a Veggie Shack which was a veggie burger packed with mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots, farro, and quinoa, and topped with American cheese, crispy onions, pickles and ShackSauce. Both were great. We added on some fries which were the crispy crinkle cut kind with a perfect amount of course salt. So good! And then of course we got a Sunset Lemonade and some shakes. I personally got a Cookies and Cream shake...it was perfection! We managed to score a table inside and I'm so glad we got to enjoy the food fresh. I really loved the whole Shake Shack experience. I've seen a few of the reviews saying it's not that great but this was not our experience, we loved our food! I had a Shack Stack that was crazy good and the fries were fantastic. My daughter said her service there was great and we all really loved our meal. Only reason for the 4 stars is I was surprised when I paid my kid for our couple meals and it was like $56 which seemed steep for a couple burger meals. The day of the opening was mad house rightfully so so I had to come back another day. It was one beautiful Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was overflow and there were many people but I didn't want to miss this opportunity. I have tried Shake Shack at Las Vegas couple times so this was my third experience with more excitement and expectation. As soon as I stepped in the restaurant, there were four KIOSK waiting as well as two cash registers, which I thought it was great for the elders who would have a hard time with KIOSKs. At the end of the order at the KIOSK, it asked to pick a number, which we didn't see so we asked one of the staff at the cash register. She realized that the KIOSK area was running out of number stands so she said that she will find us. Sure enough, the servers were calling names to find the tables. They were all quick and friendly asking if there is anything we need. We ordered Avocado Bacon Burger and SmokeShack. The burger is exactly how I remembered, which was tasty and the buns were soft. Their crinkle fries is my favorite as it is crispy and salty just right. Next time, I would love to try their shakes and Black Truffle Burger. DISASTROUS experience at this Shake Shack location. I feel so gross about how the staff handled the food and drinks back there that I feel like I'm going to vomit the food I begrudgingly ate. Was there a manager onsite at 8:30pm tonight? Workers dropped a bucket filled with shake all over the floor and workers are laughing and using their bare hands to put it back into the bucket, another employee bringing a dog in her arms into the store, and another employee pouring my drink from a bucket of lemonade sitting on a counter into my cup (no dispenser). And the burgers... my patty was not fully cooked and the burgers had one fourth of a wilted lettuce inside. Like what in the world?! Decades ago, i had my first shake shack by the Central Park. It was a travel destination for me, and was so happy when Shake shack came to the west coast (& Vegas). Not exactly that accessible, but didn't require a flight. And now, there's one down the street. What a win for Brea. The burgers are yummy, the bun really makes it. Can go basic with a Shackburger, or pickup one with some toppings. SmokeShack has those yummy cherry peppers. Kids alternate between the plain cheeseburger and flat top dogs. I'm personally a fan of their chicken sandwiches . Don't forget those zig zag fries, can get them plain, with cheese, or truffled up. Leave space for the shakes and malts. Can't go wrong with the classic vanilla or cookies & cream, but those specials are also legit delicious. Great job on the soft opening. I ordered a regular cheeseburger and added pickles and an Avocado. While the burger was very good, it was very small for the price. In & Out is definitely more economical (in & out double double is about $4.50 compared to a cheeseburger at $7.99 at Shake shack ($9.99 with the extras.) Both burgers are very good but I cannot see myself being a regular customer at Shake Shack knowing I can get a delicious quality burger at In & Out. I suggest everyone try Shake Shack at least once, you will love their burgers but economically is it worth it? You can decide for yourself. First time at shake Shack, and it did not disappoint. It was really busy for a Sunday dinner time. The have 4 kiosks to order your food, and one cashier. Super easy to order, at the kiosk but that to use the cashier because we had a gift card. We ordered two chicken sandwiches, the truffle burger and the shakburger, 3 order of fries, 3 lemonades- pomegranate, sunset lemonade, regular lemonade and a root beer float. Truffle burger-super flavorful, the fresh is really fresh, and the bun is soft. The chicken sandwiches, were a hit with my chick fil a loving kids. The chicken was crispy and juicy, the bread was soft, and the pickles were fresh. I had the shakburger, single patty, but super flavorful. You can definitely taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. I'm not usually a fan of the crinkle fry, but these were actually pretty good. The lemonades were also all very refreshing, best part, you can get refills. Usually restaurants charge for refills with specialty lemonades. The root beer float but the spot too. Super friendly staff, Everyone was helpful and while dining, there must have been at least two employees who came by and asked us if we needed anything and if we were enjoying the food. Next time, we will definitely try the shakes. Only complaint was we had a gift card, that was given to us while attending a CSULB men's basketball game. We didn't know the balance since we were gifted the card, during the half time contest. Well, turned out that the card kept reading error. It was embarrassing, the managers tried helping us, but unfortunately, since we didn't know the balance (never used), we ended having to pay for the entire bill. It was pricey, $87 for 4 entrees, 3 fries, and 4 drinks. I was in the area for CAVA this week, and was surprised to see Shake Shack finally open. It was extremely busy, but I was able to order online (while waiting for my order from CAVA). There are a few deals right now, so make sure to look up what the deals are before placing your order. 1 x Black Truffle Burger (Single) $11.49 100% Angus burger topped with Gruyere cheese and black truffle sauce made with real black truffle oil and our crispy sweet onions on a toasted potato bun. 1 x Cheeseburger (Single) $7.99 Angus beef patty with cheese and your choice of toppings on a toasted potato bun. Despite how busy Shake Shack Brea was, my order was ready when it was promised it would be ready. I cannot say the same for their next door neighbor. Between both burgers, I did enjoy the Black Truffle Burger the most, though I do wish that the patty was thicker, and I was not about to pay more just for a double (thin) patty. I also wish that the toasted potato bun was a bit more toasted, as it felt more lightly toasted. ------- I stopped by again on Saturday for their Happy Hour BOGO shakes, and I cannot say that the orders were "on time." What a lazy customer, get up and grab your own ketchup, which many others had done (and they were the table closest situated to the ketchup/condiment table). The workers are busy enough. Overall, they have different burgers than other restaurants but like most SoCal people, I would rather just get a burger from In-N-Out, or even from Red Robin. They are extremely busy and all the workers are hard at work - and yet they are also very courteous and attentive. Five stars to all the employees, especially ones who have to "deliver" your meal to you as they shout your number and walk through the entire restaurant trying to find you... I came here on a Friday evening with my wife to take advantage of their Holiday Burger Blitz promotion and we were both glad we came. It was very easy to order our food at the kiosk before grabbing a seat. We placed our table number on our table and the servers brought out our whole order and even went through the trouble to bring us more condiments. The black truffle burger and avocado burger were both delicious. We also got the cheese fries and a small fountain drink with free refills.
