We met up a friend in Atlanta Ga and we tried a new burger place called Shake Shack in Buckhead Atlanta, a "high end" area-luxury retail, residential/office development. It's still fairly new opened Sept 30, 2014. There was a line outside the door and it's facing the main road so everyone can see you and you can see them. The staff was friendly and gave us a menu to look at before we hit the counter. It was a good fan to use as well as it was pretty warm that early evening of a Saturday night. Inside was packed, loud background music, several staff greeting and taking orders one after another so you weren't waiting forever. There were folks of all ages from kiddies to hip senior citizens. Inside looked simple with tables and table tops as well as bar like table against the window. Thier color scheme was black and green. On the second floor was a beautiful space of a patio. They had ceiling fans, walls were made out of glass so please be careful of your kids leaning on them. The tables were made out of wood and you're able to move them around if it's just for two or a group. You can take the stairs or elevator which was nice to see. Now keep in mind, this is suppose to be a gourmet fast food, not your typical McDonalds so expect to spend some money here. Their beef is 100% all-natural Angus, no hormones and no antibiotics. They also serve hot dogs, which are 100% all-natural with no hormones, antibiotics, nitrates or nitrites ever which is a plus! They split and griddled crisp which is a different texture than those boiled in water. Their fries are 100% free of artificial trans fats and cooked in 100% soybean oil. They are crinkle fries. They also sell frozen custard, of vanilla and chocolate recipes. They say they use only real sugar, no corn syrup, and milk from dairy farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones. Ok now on to what we had...Hubby and friend both got: SmokeShack a single patty (you can also order burgers double patties) cheeseburger topped with all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper and ShackSauce. They said the patty wasn't that flavorful, it was mostly the toppings that you are tasting. The patty is one of those flat patties crisp on both sides like "steak n shake" if I had to compare the texture. Maybe they should have ordered two patties. I ordered the Shack Stack sheeseburger and a 'Shroom Burger topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce. I actually like this one, the bun is a soft bun light and the mushroom bell was deepfried in a breadcrumb batter with melted cheese inside so be careful cheese is hot when you bite into it. I had to agree with the patty, it was a bit thin so I really coudn't taste the beefy flavor of it. I also ordered cheese fries, which was ok. I was expecting the cheese to be cheesy gooey but it was bland and the color looked like they used white cheddar. They were crispy but not flavorful as I was hoping it would be. Maybe it's because they use a "healthier" oil for frying? For drinks, we got a Fair Shake: Coffee shake made with 100% certified organic Arabica Fair Trade beans. It was ok. Shake hand-spun strawberry it was ok, and a Draught Abita Root Beer made in Louisiana at Abita Brewing company which I liked. Overall, I like our patio experience and friendly staff. But the food for the price not so much. I guess I'm so use of think hearty burger patties for gourmet burgers. But if you want to go to a trendy, hip, place to be "seen" then check this place out and enjoy. read more

The review isn't so much for the food although, don't think it's as good was it was in the past. The service is really bad at this location. When I paid cash for an order the cashier said he couldn't give me the change which was 48 cents because of a "coin shortage". I said that's no big deal and waited for my order. Five or so minutes later his manager busts out rolls of coins because someone else paid by cash. This was an obvious lie about the coin shortage. I walked back up and said I'm glad the coin shortage ended. The guy said, do you want your change? Unreal, this person would lie over a half a dollar. I know the Shake Shack is this new, hot, trendy chain that's based in New York. But, I was not left wanting more. I've driven past this place a few times and wondered what the long line was for, until finally my friend suggested we go. So, we show up and the line is out the door. We were probably in line about 20 minutes until we reached the registers. But, before that, a very friendly employee gave us samples of two different custards (which were really good). That is one thing I actually like about the place, is that the customer service is very good. And the place is very clean. The tables seem to be bused almost immediately after people leave. There's also seating up on their "roof top"(outside) and down stairs (inside). And you can take your dog up to the roof. So, you're in luck if you have a puppy dog that you treat like it's a human being because Shake Shack offers treats for your pup. But, if you have an actual tiny human being, you're S.O.L. because there's no kids menu. But, they do have high chairs ;D So, basically I ordered my son a chicken hot dog that had sage and other seasonings in it and some juice. He loved the juice. Just wasn't into the hot dog. I ordered the Portobello Burger that's fried and loaded with cheese and a side of fries. Mine wasn't very good or very flavorful. And if you want a salad or other kind of vegetables, you're out of luck. The Portobello Burger is as close as you'll get to any sort of veggies. Hey, don't hate on me because their shakes, custards and their fruity lemonades are really good. And (at least when I went) there's free parking in the garage next door. But, this place is just a tad pretentious and the food isn't too great. read more

After consistently hearing about Shake Shack from friends, I finally got to try the famous burger. And overall, I had a good experience at Shake Shack. Amazing burger, good fries, and validated parking. Let's get into specifics. BURGER: The most important part. I got the single ShackBurger, and I was not disappointed. Well... Maybe disappointed that I didn't get a double or the Shake Stack, but I'm trying my best to eat "healthy." The primary ingredients I tend to notice in a burger are the bun, meat, and sauce (sometimes cheese). And the bun, meat, and sauce at Shake Shack were delicious! It's not mind-shatteringly delicious, but everyone should try it at least once. It's a good, simple burger for a decent price. LOCATION: Parking was easy. You simply park in the garage (drive toward the big blue P signs) and ask them to validate your ticket (up to 3 hours). It was convenient, and I got to walk around the area for a couple hours after I finished my meal. However, I wasn't very happy with the Shake Shack location itself. It has pretty limited seating (at least on weekends). There's extra seats on the roof, but I had a lot of trouble finding a table for three. I'd recommend going at non-peak hours/days or just taking your food to-go. read more

I visited within a week of their grand opening, so things may have been unsettled due to that. A friend and I met there for lunch on a Sunday. The first challenge is parking - there isn't much in the area, at least for free. We both wound up in the nearby public library lot, which charges $5 per car on the weekends. So factor that sort of added fee into your expected burger-bill. Once we arrived at Shake Shack, there was a line out the door a few yards down the block. We debated leaving, but since we had both made a special effort to get here specifically, and since the line moved fairly well (and given that Fellini's didn't open until noon), we stuck around. We only spent about 15 minutes in the line (I'll forgive that for the opening week or two, but I probably wouldn't stand in a 15-minute line for burgers here repeatedly). We got our buzzer and found a nice table at the edge of their rooftop deck overlooking Peachtree Road. It was a nice place to eat. After about 10 minutes more, the buzzer went off and one of us fetched the burgers. We had ordered two different items, but we ended up getting 2x of what my friend had ordered. It wasn't anything I wouldn't eat, and I had no desire to wait 10 more minutes for a correction. The burgers, fries, and milkshakes were all good. I wouldn't say that they were the best I've had, or even the best I've had in this class. If Johnny Rocket's hadn't gone downhill and closed most of their locations, I'd prefer their food. However, if the crowds die down somewhat and the wait shortens, having a Shake Shack burger on their deck is not a bad way to spend 30 minutes on a sunny day. read more

I've heard good things, so I randomly decided to try shake shack. I haven't been to The Shops- Buckhead since it opened, but it's really nice. Navigating and actually finding the restaurant was a little difficult, but The Shops Buckhead is only a few blocks, so you won't have to drive all over to find it. It's closer to Peachtree Road than it is Pharr, and there's a parking deck a few steps away. *they validate parking, all you have to do is ask* Anyways, the atmosphere is awesome. They have a rooftop patio, that I wish I could've experienced. It was a little chilly, but they have heat lamps. Shake Shack is a family restaurant even though they serve beers and wines. Everything is a la carte, which I expect from boutique burger places. I had the smokestack with fries and a shake. I reeeaallyy enjoyed the burger. It was medium well, juicy, and it had fresh red peppers. I love spicy food, but that kick at the end was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't impressed with the fries ( just plain crinkled or with cheese) and I thought they would have more shake flavors. The salted caramel shake was good, but for the price, I guess I expected a bigger size or something a little richer. Shake shack is good, but it isn't the best to me. I think Grindhouse is in first place for Atlanta Burgers, but I still need to try Flip. It's good for the price and the atmosphere; I would definitely come again. read more

This was the first time me and my bestfriend have been here. I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. I ordered the shack burger and added fries on. ( fries don't come with burger you have to order separately) My bestfriend who is pescatarian ordered the shroom burger.(she doesn't like mushrooms but gave it a try) Needless to say both burgers were delicious. I loved the taste of the bread it was sweet and not too heavy. The burger had shack sauce on it which was delicious too it had a little spice to it. After eating we ordered concretes which were delicious and creamy. Overall experience was nice. They need more space for seating. I give the burger a 3.5-4 out of 5. Fries were crispy and good so I give them a 5, and the concrete gets a 5. The burger doesn't live up to 5 guys' burgers but was still good. read more

Had shake shack the first time a couple days ago. The food itself was fine, if slightly over priced ($14 for a sandwich, cheese fries, and a Coke). The service was acceptable. The menu was slightly annoying in that it is only on the wall, and it's on two separate places - so it took a while to hunt for the details of what I was seeking. The chicken sandwich I ordered was good - but the chicken urself was smaller than I expected for a $6 sandwich. I would say 60% the size of the average Chick-fil-A sandwich, for 150% of the price. The novelty of going was enjoyable but I'll stick with other more value oriented quick service establishments for now. read more

The hype is real. I can't believe it's finally here. I had never been to the NYC location but I knew it existed. Even after visiting NY and the fact that it's a block from my sister's dorm... For some reason I never went! But finally, it's a short drive from the office, located in the new Buckhead Avenue. Parking wasn't too difficult. There is a parking deck available, with either valet parking options or self parking. Be sure if you are self parking to not park in the valet section of the parking deck. Self parking should be free for up to 3 hours, I believe. We arrived on a bright and brisk Sunday morning around 11:45, and the line was already out the door. The wait was pretty short and we had our orders taken within the next 10 minutes. The menu consists of various burgers, with single and double patty options, an extensive milkshake/ice cream section that is longer than the food menu. I ordered the classic single shack burger with a side of cheese fries (a la carte) and the Shackmeister beer, brewed by Brooklyn Brewery for Shake Shack. Since it wasn't even noon yet, I had to wait for the clock to strike 12:30 for my beer, but they went ahead and let me purchase it. My food came out shortly, maybe only a 10 minute wait. I can't give myself the credit, but I heard multiple people call the food "glorified McDonald's," and I'll have to agree. While it wasn't a bad burger, with the quality beef and buns, $12 for a single patty burger with no add on's, a side of fries, and a beer for $12 isn't the cheapest fast food meal I've had. At 12:30 I picked up my beer, but at that point I was already done with my food so it felt odd drinking the 16oz pour. The beer is light and wheaty with a little hoppiness, just the way I like it. I've been told the Smoke Shack is the way to go so I'll have to wait until next time to try it out. read more

If you haven't been before, GO!!! I don't know why but first the outside of the building intimated me because of how "fancy" it looks. I figured parking would be difficult and I'm not trying to walk around confused. But the parking was so easy and they validate your parking if you eat there. The set up is where you order at the front and then sit yourself. They have a rooftop patio that looks amazing but it was cold so we didn't go up. But I def want to go on a nice sunny day! The food was great! They have crinkle fries! They had no seasoning on the fries though but it's okay I added salt and pepper myself. I don't usually give 3 stars but today is different. The place is surrounded by luxurious stores that regular working class Americans can't afford but that's Buckhead. Once you enter the establishment you're hit with a fast food type of aroma which is what it is, fast food. I ordered the Smoke Shack. It sounded delicious and I was curious about how the cherry peppers would blend with the meal. I also ordered cheese fries and a cookies and cream milk shake. I got my order and began to dig in. The burger was so greasy. I could feel my heart burning from grease. I could moisturize my entire body with grease from that burger. I'm use to greasy fast food but that burger was soaked with it. The cherry peppers were an interesting combination. It offered a certain kick to the meal that made me forget I wasn't clogging my arteries. The milkshake wasn't very appealing. It tasted like a melted Oreo McFlurry. Don't get me wrong, I love McFlurrys but I was expecting something a little bit thicker in texture and a lot more tasty than that. The cheese fries were really sad. It was like a weird queso/ nacho cheese thing going on but it wasn't too great. I had some high hopes for this place especially with the area that it's in. I first tried Shake Shack many years ago up in New York. I stood in the long line that wrapped around the block to try the burger that everyone raved about. I don't think that the burger lives up to the hype. It took me a while to venture out to the first Atlanta outpost because I figured it would be more of the same. Fortunately, the lines are not as long here as they are in New York. You can order pretty quickly. They give you a buzzer so you can get your food when it's ready. The soda fountains are behind the counter so you have to go up and wait a bit to get a refill on your soft drinks. Free water and cups are by the condiments. Although the lines are not that long, the food takes forever to come out. I still feel so-so about this burger. The fries are crinkly fries and not very exciting. There are many better burger options in Atlanta. I'll probably only have a meal here if I am in the area. read more

Since I'm a West Coast-er, my favorite fast food burger is In N Out (surpise!...not). As a result, one of the first places I ever wanted to eat in New York was Shake Shack since it seemed like the East Coast's favorite burger joint. While I enjoyed my burger and think its quality is comparable to In N Out, I didn't think the value was as good since Shake Shack food is a little more expensive.Regardless, I was happy to see that Shake Shack had opened up; I interpreted it as acknowledgement of Atlanta as a major city in this region. I've been feeling extra anti-social these days, so I went straight to their app so I could order and avoid talking to people. Ordering from the app was simple and I enjoyed that I could select a time for pick up. This Shake Shack is situated in a fancy shopping plaza that made me feel supremely underdressed in my leggings and sweater as I walked from the parking garage. While driving, I saw a notification on my phone telling me that my order was ready at exactly the scheduled time. I got to the restaurant about 7-10 minutes after the notification. On a random Wednesday night, the restaurant itself had a decent number of people in it, but there was no line to order--just a few people waiting to pick up their food. I walked up to the pick up window and it took a minute for someone to notice me (this happens a lot in my life, no biggie). When I brought up my order, the woman behind the counter politely said, "We're making it now." What? I was more sad than irritated because I was really hungry and was looking forward to shoving a double shackburger almost immediately into my mouth. It didn't seem busy and I didn't understand why I got the notification if my food wasn't ready. I waited about 10 minutes before getting my food. The burger seemed sloppily put together and the cheese fries were okay (cheese could've been a little hotter). Thinking this one time may have been a fluke I ordered through the app again a few weeks later. Alas, when I tried to pick up my order, I was told they were still making it. I almost felt like I was in the twilight zone where I was repeating a day from the past. I figured this is a new place and they may not have all the kinks worked out with app orders yet. Food quality was what I expected, but the kitchen seems slower than the ones in the Big Apple. Tips, Tips, Tips! - There's a parking garage. I can't speak to how much it costs since I always pick up my order and eat in my car under the free parking time limit. - The Shack is in a fancy plaza, which took me a little off guard. I have been looking forward to trying Shake Shack ever since I heard Atlanta was getting one, so we went this past Saturday. Yes, the line was long, but I don't mind waiting for good food. We had a Shack burger and a Shackcago dog. The burger was very good although a lot smaller than I expected. I did add pickles and had a side of fries which were just plain ole fries. I saw the cheese sauce ones, but I just can't eat anything with cheese sauce. Cheese, yes, but no cheese sauce. Something about the texture or lack thereof. The hot dog fell completely part at first bite and had to finish it with a fork. I like my buns to hold up to the dog. The milkshake was good and I liked the fact that beer and wine was available. So, I would certainly return if I was in the area shopping, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it like I do for the Holeman and Finch burger (Sunday Brunch one, that is). The ShackMeister Single burger won't be filling for any adult; it's more like a kid's menu portion, so go for the Double burger instead. They have beer too but don't think unique craft drafts. We went with the Terrapin Rye Pale Ale served in a plastic cup, and was very meh tasting. The prices are a bit steep for the portions provided but that's Buckhead location for you. 1 hr free parking with validation by the restaurant. read more

My first Shake Shack experience, at Atlanta's upscale Shops of Buckhead, was everything I hoped it would be. My burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, surrounded by a fresh and golden bun. The crinkle fries were wonderful, and the setting comfortable and fun. There's a rooftop seating area that looks like the perfect autumn lunch spot, and the restaurant will validate parking in the mall's underground deck. Shake Shack also serves chicken sandwiches and hot dogs, and craft beer fans will find a couple of local favorites available on tap and in bottles -- including the chain's own ShackMeister Ale. Charlotte is slated to get our own Shake Shack this spring, and I'll be one of the first people in line for this wonderful burger spot. In my opinion I think Shake Shack is the best in terms of fast food burgers. I come from a lineage of devoted Steak n Shake loyalists but there's something about Shake Shack's burgers that put it over the top. Their Shack Burger is simplistic yet amazingly flavorful. The beef patty is juicy, cooked on the grill to give it a nice crisp char. Add in melted cheese, tomatoes and lettuce and you have a perfect storm. Honest review: got the smoke shack burger, fries, and peachtree shake for 16$ Smoke shack burger 1st bite was really good. Layer of flavors, but as I got into the core, got too hard to eat because way too vinegar-y taste from the red pickled pepper things and had to pick it out. Next time I'll ask for it without it! Peachtree shake was impressively good! Not a peach person, but the cashier really sold it to me and I'm glad he did! Tried drinking it through the straw, but realized that to really appreciate it you have to gulp it down haha. Fries reminded me of school lunch fries, but suprisingly crunchy, which is my personal preference so yay! Environment is very clean, crowded, and modernistic. Was impressed by the elevator to patio but to cold to sit outside. :( I would give it a 5 star if not for the fact that I was slightly disappointed by the burger on my 1st impression.
