Shake Shack was okay, but I honestly don't understand the level of hype it gets. The burger was decent enough and generally what you'd expect from a fast-casual burger spot. The fried were fine, though nothing particularly memorable, and overall the food felt average. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing really stood out either. My biggest issue is the value. For the price you're paying, I expected a little more in terms of portion size and overall quality. The burger wasn't very large, and by the time I added fries and a drink, the total felt hard to justify for what was ultimately a fairly standard meal. The ordering process was also a bit impersonal since everything is done through kiosks, and the experience felt more self-service than full-service despite the prices. The shake cheeseburger was served on a thin hamburger bun. The burger was a bit tasty with a slightly burned, slightly greasy taste one expects from a cheaper burger. I asked for onion, pickle, tomato and ketchup. When I received it, the ketchup and tomato was missing. I went to take the ketchup packets at the serving counter and an older woman employee told me I'm only allowed to have 4 of them. I replied shrinkflation reduced the packet contents so I need 7. She insisted I could only have 4. I told her I'm taking 6, grabbed them and left annoyed. I don't recommend this establishment. You can cook better tasting and thicker burgers on your home grill or indoor fry pan. You can also make fries from frozen bags that taste better without tasting like burnt fry oil. read more

I headed here for an early lunch on a Monday and it was quite an underwhelming experience. First off there is no one to take your order, only kiosks. This is fine if they make it more clear. Second, the service is mind-numbingly slow. When you place your order you get a number and they have their workers wandering around trying to find someone when it would be easier to just announce names for the pickup counter. The process itself is also slower because of the lack of cashiers, because you're not putting faces and orders to names you're just running around a crowded restaurant. When shake shack is good it's really good, but this location seems to be doing the bare minimum to get by. We came by on a weekday evening and it seems all the ordering is done at a kiosk setup by customers, you submit payment, and then you pick up your number to take to your table. I'm going to vent a moment, so far in this process, I have done all the work, I've looked at the menu, placed my order, paid, even picked out my own table number and yet.... I am asked about leaving a tip. Who is this for? me or the Restaurant crew? because I think I've doing a pretty good job so far..... But back to Shake Shack, the menu as you might expect is lots of burgers. I'm a burger fan so yay! We found our own table, had a seat and waited. Last time I dined inside she was upset she had to clean the table next to me, so she proceeded to slam and bang the chairs around. I've had shake shack multiple times now but at different locations throughout the country. This was my first time ordering from this location. I was very disappointed with my visit considering Shake Shack is high in price. For those of you who don't know, the shake sauce is what really makes a burger from shake shack. My burger barely had any shake sauce. So disappointing. It was just another smash style burger that night. I also ordered fries which are a must. They have a crunchy outside with soft inside. We got chicken bites with a Korean dipping sauce as well. The Korean sauce was basically a very Americanized "spicy" mayo. It wasn't anything special. I'll go back when I'm craving shake sauce again. Maybe I just went on a bad day. I'm not sure. Next time, I'll remember to ask for extra shake sauce on the side. Also, don't try to call them to ask any questions. You won't get thru to anyone. If you're doing a to go order, you have to do it online. Dine in is available but that's not very clear on their website, social media, or the automated phone message. I remember that summer day in 2005 when I followed the long line in New York's Madison Square Park, not knowing what to expect at the other end. What was all this buzz about? Within that modest kiosk at the end of the wait would be one of the better hamburgers I've eaten! That was the original Shake Shack. Having visited all but two in Manhattan now, and one in Atlanta, and another in Seoul, South Korea, I made another discovery along the way. The chicken sandwich that debuted in 2016 is even better than the burger! My wife's family who lives in Brooklyn calls my preference for chicken at this burger mecca absolute blasphemy. But I know what I like, I've eaten food in 79 different nations, and it's the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. End of story. The launch of this new item was being touted on a large sign when we visited the Theater District Shake Shack in Manhattan one night in 2016. The picture of an extra crispy slab of deep fried chicken, with sauce dripping over the soft bun and pickles, distracted me from what would have been my typical burger order. So I tried it and fell in love. Now that you understand my lofty expectations, fast forward to 2020. I still hadn't been to the Shake Shack in Green Hills, deterred by long lines in the beginning. It was so close to home that I could patiently wait out the flurry of activity and catch them on an eventual off day. Needing to get back to normal after an extensive quarantine, with unseasonably moderate June weather in Tennessee and errands to run in Hill Center, I hatched a plan to swing by Shake Shack, order my favorite Chick'n Shack sandwich, and eat it on one of the many outdoor benches along the street. The lettuce was crisp, the pickles were fresh, and that buttermilk herb mayo really balances the flavors, literally the ONLY mayonnaise in the world that I'll dare to eat. But the chicken batter wasn't perfect. It wasn't nearly as crispy as I've had from this franchise. I don't know what factors allow the New York locations to make the planet's most perfect 5-star chicken sandwich, a feat duplicated in Georgia while the Nashville branch can only produce a 4-star sandwich. Nashville is known for its crispy fried chicken, and restaurants all over town are able to produce such a masterpiece. Unfortunately, this chain isn't there (yet). But they sure make good food! I made what I had planned to be a "quick stop" before getting on the road to travel on October 13,2024. My order took approximately 45 mins and one would expect a "to go" order in much less time. There were only a couple orders inside before mine. The young guy putting orders together was friendly and seemed efficient. The older lady was rude. She rudely stared at me as I was checking my bags/orders. My daughter told her that our order was incorrect. Her rude response was "what do you need". The order included fried onion instead of raw. The chili peppers were not included and the sauce for the kid's nuggets contained no BBQ sauce. She left the area and someone else provided the missing items. The manager was walking around giving orders to the team about filling condiment stations and emptying trash long before closing time. I wish he had been more diligent at managing his team and ensuring a decent experience for his customers. He walked by my family several times and never even spoke or apologized for the wait tim. On the road trip, my daughter became ill. Although we ordered the Pescatarian options, Infirmly believe that our food was prepare in the same grill as the meats. It tasted greasy. I don't think I have ever had such poor service at a Shake Shack location across the States - ever!! I looked at the low ratings before choosing this location but thought I would give it a fair chance. This was an epic mistake! So, I came back to Shake Shack again. This time I brought my husband along with me. And I was even more impressed my second visit! We ordered two shake burgers, drinks, two cheese fries, and a hotdog to split. Everything came out cooked PERFECTLY. The burger was nice and juicy, fully cooked without being overdone, and the toppings were SO fresh. Our cheese fries tasted sooooo fresh and so good. The fountain coke complimented the meal really well. (We are Coca Cola fans!) And our hotdog was just okay. But to be fair it might be because we waited a while to eat it because we were chowing down on the burgers and fries. The salt and pepper on top were a bit too overpowering and the quality of the hotdog wasn't my favorite. I love the vibe here. I love love these burgers and fries. For sure, five stars! Let's just get that out of the way from the start. Shake Shack deserves five stars. At least, this Shake Shack does. The burgers melt in your mouth when you bite into them. The fries are crispy on the outside and mealy on the inside, like a good fry should be. The shakes are delicious and creamy. Also, this restaurant has games to play! I'm not even exactly sure what we were playing while we waited for our food, but I think it it was a tabletop version of bunco. The big question that everyone asks with regard to Shake Shack is: Is Shake Shack better than In-N-Out? The answer to that depends on who you ask. If you ask me, I would tell you a resounding "no," but it's hard to top In-N-Out, especially when you ask someone from SoCal. So SS isn't better than INO, but it's great in a different way. I expected there to be hella lines and waiting at this place because it's Shake Shack and it's popular, but the people taking orders are super efficient and got everyone though the line really quickly. We love shake shack but man the burger was too raw and not flavorful. They need to season their burgers a little better. My burger was super raw and I didn't realize it until I ate about half way through. My husband told me to take it back but I had already ate more than half and not paying attention. I was too busy trying to feed my son a keep him entertained. Anyways the bacon cheese fries were good (as usual). We also tried the chicken bites and they were very good! My toddler which is an extreme picky eater ate 4 of them. They're kinda small for the price but they were good. Better than chic fil a! As for the restaurant itself. It's in a great location, right on the corner. The entrance where you order is very small so lines can wrap around and put the door easily. The service was great. People were friendly inside. Cashier can't count money though. The restaurant it's self was also clean inside and out which is a plus. This is a great spot to get a classic burger and fry combo that doesn't feel like a drive thru burger. The fries are crinkled and spicy or covered if you want them to be. The burger was delicious and the Diet Coke was refillable . Staff was pleasant enough and it was moderately clean in the dining area. I would say I'd probably get it to go next time unless I'm walking around and stopping by while I take a break from shopping the hill center . Instead of ordering what I knew would be an absolute dream-bite of beef, I ordered the 'Shroom Burger, a crisp-fried thin portobello mushroom (shell) partially filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato, ShackSauce. One bite into this volcano of molten cheese and I knew I had made a "misteak" (mistake). Crispy - yes, with a big hollow opening inside where the melted cheese -that partially burned my tongue - had smoldered in wait for my sensitive palate. Little flavor ... too crisp and too thin. Fortunately, my loving family shared their precious purchases (a piquant Smoke Shack with pepper relish, and a tasty flat-top Chicago style dog.) So now I know now what to order next time. Two greasy burgers, 2 fries, and two half tea and lemonades for $30. I don't know, maybe I'm being a baby. If it was flavorful, hot, and fresh, okay good deal. But it wasn't, so $30 seems a bit much. 3. Okay, we're in a pandemic. I'm not the pandemic police, but there was no rhyme or reason to the ordering lines or the pick up lines or social distancing or how many people were in the establishment or anything. Might as well have taken my mask off, too. So if you need a quick bite and you're craving a burger, get after it. No big surprises with the newest Shake Shack location: tasty burgers and decent crinkle fries. I ordered the double ShackBurger with a side of fries. The two parties were cooked near perfectly -- just a tinge of pink on the inside and seared edges on the outside. The cheese and special Shake Sauce combined to create a supporting creaminess that makes the burger slightly messy but oh so delicious. I've never found Shake Shack's fries to be that extraordinary, but eating a burger without them would be a travesty. Thankfully the line moved fairly quickly. We only waited about 10 minutes in line and less than 10 minutes for our food. I love the open and spacious interior. The service was mixed. Some of the employees were helpful and attentive, while a few others were seemingly bored to be there. But thankfully that didn't affect the taste of the bread. I wouldn't go out of my way for Shake Shack, but I wouldn't turn it away if someone wanted to go. It's a great burger, and there are some non-burger items on the menu that I'd like to try. read more

And I got a strawberry milkshake that was very good. All were normal portion sizes and a very good lunch out. Antoinette at the register was good to talk to and the prep time for our food was fast. For me the issue is $6 for the smallest burger and $3 for the fries. So I give it a 4 for the food and service, but -1 for the very high prices. I am a big fan of Shack Shack. It's difficult to be both a "jack of many trades" and even harder to be good at them all, but that's what Shake Shack does-great burgers, great shakes, great fries, great hotdogs, and great chicken. I gave the Washington, DC SS a 5 star review and several compliments. Unfortunately, I cannot offer this location the same review, which is unfortunate because Shake Shack tends to maintain excellent quality and continuity, in their many restaurants. My experience at this location was diminished by an employee with a bad attitude. The entire time that I was ordering, an employee behind the cashier would make snide comments and interrupt both myself and the person taking my order, to tell me she "hated this place" and how awful it was. After getting our food, my wife and I had to approach the counter to obtain condiments that were absent from the self-service area. We also had to approach the counter just to get a few napkins, as the dispensers were empty. The food was pretty good, not great. The overall experience was disappointing and very much unlike any Shake Shack that I have visited. It's unfortunate, because I feel most SS's would easily earn a 4-5 star rating. For anyone who may be on yelp!, trying to decide where to enjoy a meal...Nashville offers many great restaurants and dining options, however, this SS is not among them. read more

Crackle Shack: 3/5 I love Peg Leg Porker (gave them a 5-star review), but I thought that their cracklins did not compliment the burger at all. They just sat on top and were completely unnecessary. This location is located in a really cute little outdoor mall, but that meant a lot of the parking was designated for another store or concept. It took us circling for a bit to find a spot. If you're local, this likely will not befuddle you as much as it did us. After finishing our meal, we wanted to grab a shake (because, Shake Shack shakes cannot be missed!). Getting back in line to place our dessert order though meant actually having to go outside and come back in to be in the line due to the way it was roped off. Not a big deal, but definitely awkward. The bill was $58. Three weeks ago I was in Phoenix and took my son and friend to In-n-Out. We ordered a 3x3, double-double animal style, two cheeseburgers, three fries (one animal style), a rootbeer float, one shake and two drinks. The bill was $33. More food, better food and $25 cheaper.
