Being from San Diego, a lot of people have suggested to give this place a try. It is definitely not like in n out but it is a good burger. I gave the shack stack a try and oh myyy!! The burger patty was juicy and the deep fried mushroom compliments it well. The deep fried mushroom has melted cheese inside it and every bite was just as good as the first. I also ordered the crinkle fries and it was fried perfectly, not too soggy but not too crispy. The service was really fast. We ordered at the counter and the cashier gave us a pager so we know when our order was ready. We waited for about 4-5 minutes and our order was out. What an experience! read more

Its my second time here and my first review. I had visitors and was showing them the harbour. I bought them here because my former coworker and I were talking the best burger. Went here before going to a concert around the corner so ofcourse it was packed. The staff was nice and accommodating. Was able to get a lettuce wrap instead of a bun for my burger due to gf sensitivities. It was so good. The food is good, but the prices are a bit steep. I didn't even get a beverage and I spent near $20. I did get a custard "concrete" as they are called, but that doesn't count as beverage- it's dessert! I felt that it was melting quickly, however, so I consumed it first. My entree was the double mushroom cheeseburger which is damn tasty. Probably a little too filling for lunch, but I didn't quite understand what I was ordering. Recently went to Baltimore for a trip and was super pumped to see that they had a Shake Shack! (I'm still trying to figure out why Ohio doesn't have a SS yet!) Luckily for me, this Shake Shake was within walking distance from my hotel. It's a great location down by the Inner Harbor tourist area. I can't confirm but it definitely looked very new. My sister and I went in for a late lunch around 2pm after we had completed the Baltimore Half Marathon (so this was a well-deserved treat!) I ordered a classic single burger with fries and a black & white Shake (which is basically just vanilla & chocolate mixed). The taste of everything was great. Super fresh and delicious. I do wish their pickles were the thinner cut ones (like McDonald's), but now I'm just nit picking. I honestly devoured the burger. Barely remember eating it because I was so hungry. The fries were good, but I could have shared those. Left quite a few on the tray. And the shake was great as well. Perfect consistency! I just wish I would have gotten all chocolate since the black & white wasn't chocolatey enough for me. This restaurant is very clean and like I said, has a very "new, modern" look to it. While my sister and I were dining, the manager came and chatted with us. He was such a nice guy! We must have talked to him for ten minutes. He was so personable and friendly and told us stories on why he loves working for Shake Shack. His stories were so heartwarming and brought a smile to my face many times. I work in HR, so if it's one thing I love, it's seeing people who enjoy what they do. You can really see it in him as he talks about the company and his restaurant. The food is pretty consistent no matter which location you go to, but I recently visited Inner Harbor in Baltimore and was SHOCKED at the way they fill the little containers of shack sauce at this location. I was given three things of their yummy sauce, but none of them were even close to being completely filled. I even combined all three into one container and it still wasn't filled all the way. Nice interior and ambiance! Great place to chill. As a first timer of Shake Shack, I was pleasantly surprised. The buns are soft and fluffy. The patty is juicy and tender, but the portion is on the small size. The fries are crunchy, nicely salted, and light. I received the cheese fries with just a tub of cheese next to my fries, which wasn't really worth the extra dollar. Never had Shake Shack before and boyfriend was feeling a burger so off we went. The menu isn't huge but they have a few different kinds of burgers. I went with the SmokeShack burger and fries, which comes with bacon, cheese, chopped cherry pepper and shacksauce. I felt like the burger itself was way overwhelmed by the cherry peppers and sauce. I ended up picking out 90% of the peppers because they were the only thing I was tasting. They went a bit too heavy on the sauce which made for a messy burger experience. The burger itself was okay, but hard to get a read on the burger flavor. I'm generally not a huge fan of pressed burgers but I think I'd consider getting a double next time so I can get a better read on the beef and the inevitable delicious crispy exterior the burger gets from the flat top. Overall, just an okay lunch. The staff were great, really polite and positive and it was a nice atmosphere to have lunch in. I'll give them another shot next time I'm in the US. read more

Warning: do not eat here if you're hungry. The food is pretty expensive and very small portions. I had heard good things from a coworker and was extremely disappointed. Paid $25 for our 2 meals, and we only got the single burgers, and shared one fry, and my wife got a small shake. There really needs to be a combo option. If we got the double burgers or 2 fries it would have been over $30 for food the size of a happy meal. If we both got a double burger, fries and shakes it would have been $40 just for 2 people lol. I will compare this to 5 guys which is a similar price point. There the burgers are pretty big and filling and they give you a ton of French fries. A couple can easily share a small. The fact that shake shacks burger is basically a size of a slider appetizer is ridiculous. I should have got the double bc we were starving when we left. I mean the food tastes good. But for the price it's not worth it. So unless you're a skinny big city girl that only eats a salad this probably won't satisfy you, especially if you're hungry. From the outside this shake shack looks small , but once you're in there, it opens up. The service was low energy, but the food was delicious. They added a lot of pepper to my burger which was a little much but all in all delicious . They even had Louisiana hot sauce . Which is one of my favorite hot sauces. I've been to this Shake Shack location countless amount of times since moving to Baltimore, and I have not been disappointed in any of my visits. This location is nestled right in the heart of Inner Harbor, and is always busy with tourists and local customers. Don't be afraid of the long lines though- they generally move pretty quickly! There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. I always opt for the shack burger with a side of fries. Let me just say that the "shack sauce" drizzled in the burger might be the reason why I keep coming back and back. I can't even describe how good it is, along with how tasty and soft Shake Shack's burgers are. The vegetables are fresh, and the beef patty is always cooked exactly how I ask for. Only taking one star off because the fries are a bit too salty for me, but I can't help but to order them anyway... 5 out of 5 stars for customer service. I'm not sure how the employees can be so friendly and polite especially with all the tourists coming in by the minute (I would pull my hair out), but the management here sure knows how to run a good business/employee team. I've brought many non-Maryland visitors to eat at this location, and they all have nothing but good things to say about Shake Shack. All in all, delicious food and great customer service! read more

Hubs and I decided to try this place out after we discovered Five Guys across the street was closed (at 4:30 in the afternoon? On a Sunday?). We'd both been before, so we knew what to expect, food-wise. So, let's cut to the chase here. He ordered a ShackBurger (double), and regular fries. I ordered a 'ShroomBurger and regular fries. Black and white shake for him, a single Salty Balty for me. They don't offer the Salty Balty in D.C., it's a local thing, so I was looking forward to trying it out. Now, I will say this - the burgers were good. The 'ShroomBurger was REALLY good, as a matter of fact - lots of cheese oozing out of a perfectly done portobella. And the fries were good, too - they're not the shoestring crap offered in the D.C. location, but good, thick crinkle-cuts. Not bad. I don't know about Hubs's shake, but that Salty Balty? Whoa, Nelly. It's a damned good thing my diabetes is under tight control, because if it weren't, that sucker would have equaled a hospital trip. Seriously, it was THAT sweet. Dinner Time ^_^ I came here on a whelm after grocery shopping and i'm glad I did. I've been here before and wasn't impressed however, I decided to give them another try. I ordered the shack burger with fries. The total came to $8 and some change. The cashier was very attentive, he was focused on the customer which I love. The whole process took about 10 minutes or so; they make your food right there. The inside is nice and clean, they have menus on the wall to see what they have to offer. The presentation of the food was amazing! The littlest things has an impact on me, the bag was super cute and how they presented your food inside the bag is easy accessible--just pull the tray out and you're ready to eat. The burger was good, it wasn't greasy like five guys, I actually thought I was eating a healthy burger lolol. The fries was just right crispy and filling. Taking a break from our visit to the National Aquarium, we decided to head across the street and grab lunch at Shake Shack. They just opened one in California (Hollywood), but no one in our party has ever tried it. The line was long (out to the door), but not as long as Chick-fil-A next door (out on to the sidewalk). Despite the long line, it went very fast and we were ordering in no time. We decided on ordering 2 double smokeshack burgers, 2 chicknshacks, 1 shroom burger, 2 fries, 1 cheese fries and drinks. smokeshack: burger was really good, but there was a spicyness to it that would "punch you in the face out of nowhere" as my boyfriend put it. For someone who isn't too big on spice, it was a bit intense for him and he wished he would have gotten it without the peppers. I didn't mind it and found the burger to be pretty good (his sister also really liked the burger). chicknshack: the chicken was very crisp and wasn't dry...but I wasn't all that impressed. I'd take a chick-fil-a chicken sandwich over shake shack any day. But it was a bad sandwich and I did finish it. shroom burger: i can't say much about it because I didn't try it, but i believe my niece liked it. The fries were fine, the cheese sauce on the cheese fries was a bit too salty and slightly too thick. I definitely wouldn't order the cheese fries again. Finally! We have been waiting for the opening of Shake Shack. Having never been, I was very excited to learn that the first MD location was opening only a block from my office downtown. A group of my co-workers and I trekked through the snow this AM to check it out; we were hoping that yesterday's opening day had helped alleviate some of the crowd, as well as the fact that last night's snowfall may have caused a lot of people to stay home from work today. The doors open at 11 AM; we got there at 10:40 to try to beat the crowd, which we did. By the time the doors opened, there were about 15 of us in line and our group was the first. The line moved quickly and efficiently. You place your order at the counter, and they give you a pager that goes off when your food is ready. The line was to the door the whole time that we were there, and it wasn't even close to lunchtime. The space is very large and clean, and very industrial. We all sat at one of the high top tables to chat while we waited. Our various food orders were called very quickly and they were all accurate. Amazing for a brand new place on Day 2 dealing with this level of volume. I ordered the single Shackburger, a lone patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and "Shack Sauce" a Thousand Island/Secret Sauce type of condiment, all on a potato roll. I took a nibble of the crusty flattened beef patty to try that first and was taken aback by the salt level. I am very sensitive to salt and I was afraid that I was going to hate it since it was so salty. When you eat the burger as a whole though, it is great! I was so glad, as I really wanted my experience to live up to the hype. It was a really good burger in its entirety, flavorful, and the ingredients were very fresh. I was impressed that their tomatoes were so nice considering you can go to other places this time of year and their supplies are just gross. I am not a French fry person and their crinkle cut fries did not impress me by their look so I did not try them, although my friend said that the cheese sauce that you can order for them is great. I did try a single Salty Balty Concrete, a mix of soft serve chocolate and vanilla custard with mix-ins of chocolate truffle cookie dough, cheesecake blondie and sea salt. The single was definitely enough, I will be able to nibble on this all week by keeping it in the freezer at the office. All in all, this was a good experience and I will be back even though it is a bit pricey (but so is everywhere downtown). The food was good, the staff was friendly and they move quickly which will be very important for lunch hour during the week. I came on a Saturday around 1PM and as expected this place was absolutely insane. Good food, but avoid on the weekend! Stopped by and ordered two burgers and a concrete (which is a scoop of ice cream with some toppings). Both burgers were good. The shackmeister burger was very tasty, but also quite pricy. Many area sit-down type restaurants have as good or better burgers for nearly the same price. I was expecting a little more than a baseball sized burger for the price. Next came the experience in this location. It is a cool spot, and I'm glad that Baltimore is getting popular, but holy cow this place was busy on a Saturday. I think they are a little small, with just around 15 tables, demand far outpaced supply. I witnessed a few fights over tables in the short time we were there. With no hope of finding a table, I changed the order to to-go. I probably should have waited outside because there wasn't really anywhere to wait. People kept bumping into me trying to slide by, the line for the water was even long. I recommend trying out the shack on a weekday, or at off peak hours. At peak times, avoid at all costs unless you like being sandwiched by a hoard of people. read more

Finally finally finally! Shake Shack in Baltimore opened! After hearing about the long lines on the weekends I opted for a later than usual (8pm) dinner on a weeknight. The restaurant was still crowded and we got one of the last tables available. The ordering process was simple and we were seated for only about 10 minutes before our food was ready. My burger wasn't cooked as well done as I would have liked it but it still had good flavor. The crinkle cut fries are AMAZING! My only complaints would be the cleanliness of the restaurant and the bathroom situation. Our table and most of the others were dirty and sticky. I had to wipe it down before we ate but there were extra staff hanging out chatting that could have been keeping an eye on the tables. The bathrooms were also confusing as I watched patron after patron walk up to the door with a coded lock. I'm not surprised to see that the doors need a code to open since it is located in the harbor and you never know who is coming in just to use the bathroom. People were unaware that the bathroom code was on their receipts and would clear their trash before heading to the restroom. Maybe it would helpful for the person taking the order to point it out when handing over the receipt. This burger is amazing! I've tried the other places - the ones that others think are the best, but they are weak in comparison to this piece of delicious, perfect beef. I don't know if it's the Angus beef, the lack of hormones and antibiotics or their blend of meat, but it's the king - A #1 burger! I can recommend the double ShakeBurger, medium, with cheese, lettuce, tomato and the special Shake Sauce. It sounds so simple, but transcends into the sublime - the flavor cannot be overstated. The fries are perfectly cooked and if you are lucky enough to hit this place up in BMORE, you got Old Bay on with the condiments! You can always get the cheese sauce, which is good, but a bit gas station nacho cheesey - not bad, but not everyone's favorite. They tell me the shakes are good too! Highly recommend! read more

I've eaten at the DC Shake Shack and enjoyed it quite a bit. Something is different about Baltimore's location and unfortunately, it's mediocre in every way. Nothing was bad, but nothing was good which is inexcusable for a fast food place that charges $10 for a burger without including fries! I don't know what it is about this location that's worse than what I had before. Maybe it's not the location. Maybe I'm just realizing that Shake Shack isn't all that's shacked up to be? Who knows. The service is very pleasant and we didn't have to wait very long for our meal even though the place was brimming with people. It sits on a prime piece of real estate as it's right next to the Inner Harbor and a giant mall! When I lived in NYC Shake Shack was a big treat that we would indulge in once in a while on the UES. Having spotted this location during a Baltimore trip, I knew we'd have to make a stop. The prices are just as pricey as I remember, but that didn't stop us from grabbing some burgers. We ordered a regular double cheeseburger and a vegetarian portobello, a side of fries, and a peppermint holiday shake. Maybe it was the holiday weekend, or the time of day, but that staff was not having it. Generally cranky and taking their time, we waited over 25 minutes to grab our burgers to go. At that point I almost wanted to stay and have them there. Upon receiving our order, we received a lukewarm and melted milkshake, which we sent back (leaving us to wait another 10 minutes for them to remake it). In the seven years I lived in the NJ/NYC area, would you believe I've NEVER eaten at Shake Shack? Blasphemous, I know. Luckily, there's a location at the Inner Harbor that allowed me to try it while I was in town. First off, I would like to say that I don't care how tasty a burger is, fries should ALWAYS be included -- period. Seriously, most people who order burgers likely want to eat French fries with it, and paying additional money for it is just down right mean. I digress. (Well, wait.) I also find it interesting that there's food options for pets, but nothing for children. Thankfully, I'm raising 2 and 1-year-old beasts who could eat you out of your kitchen, but come on! You have bites for the pets but nothing for the kids -- and yet, serve juice boxes as a beverage option?? To keep things simple, I ordered a cheeseburger, and a chicken sandwich for my kiddos. I also got a strawberry milkshake because, well, the name of the company is SHAKE Shack. The food took a minute to get, but it was worth the wait. Everything was juicy and really tasty. My children loved their chicken sandwich and fries. The shake was also great, too. As far as the location goes, it was extremely clean. Made my first trip to the new Shake Shack location in the inner harbor! It is right across from the aquarium. I used to live near one in NYC, and have been waiting for this moment for years. It's dangerous that it's so close to my apartment. I have instituted a rule that I am only allowed to go if I walk there. I'm not a big hamburger/fries person, but something about shake shack's food is just so delicious to me. It's salty, greasy, well-seasoned, and more interesting than your typical burger and fries. The rolls are good, the meat has good seasoning, the fries are very flavorful and crispy and the cheese sauce enhances them. It's higher quality cheese sauce than you would usually find, and I think it even contains real cheese! This location does a good job of picking up local flavor. They incorporate local baked goods into their shakes, and offer an assortment of Baltimore beers and wines. They also have the requisite old bay available, lest the natives get upset. I didn't try the concretes or ice creams, but they looked like they had some awesome unique local inspirations. Like all Shake Shacks, this one has the issue of overcrowding. You think you're being clever by going at 3 PM on a weekday? Wrong! Huge line, no seats. I don't know why they have it laid out the way they do, but the line is forced to crowd into an awkward triangular area, and will no doubt have to extend out the door once tourist season is in full swing. That's probably part of the plan to entice more patrons, actually. They are also building a Chick-fil-a next door, so I can't even imagine the volume of people between those two restaurants. Small Shake, small fries and small burger - $15 - got to you in about 15 minutes. 5 dollars for a shake - the size of a tall at starbucks - is a bit steep. It would be nice if they would just up the price a buck and bring up the size of this one. After all - that was the best part of the trip, its a shame the shake barely lasted the 10 minute walk back to the office. It was wonderfully thick and creamy - so I may go back for another, but I'll think of it as a splurge. The burger was a fast food style flat burger on a buttered roll with a single slice of lettuce and a bit of tomato.People rave about it- but it reminded me of a Five Guys burger without the options for toppings. It was okay - but just not great. I wouldn't wait in line for one - but if I saw one off the highway and needed a quick greasy burger (the buns are basically soaked in butter) this would be my first choice over most other fast food joints. The fries - crinkle cut with a side of cheese sauce - was surprisingly tasty. I actually enjoyed the sauce (sort of like a nacho cheese). In the end, it was a tad on the small size for an order of fries... but compared to the lunch bag full you get at Five Guys that I always seem to finish - I'm not sitting comatose at my desk after finishing it so that's not too bad. My overall opinion - the burgers aren't quite as good as five guys, but the shakes are worth the stop over for, even if they are either too small or too expensive. The complaint I have with Five Guys, Z Burger and now this place are too common - there is no good lunch combo offer. A burger served with reasonable amount of fries (more here, less at Z burger and Five Guys) with a drink and fries for around 10 bucks would be amazing. 12 bucks if it was with a small shake. read more

I was stoked to have my first dining experience at Shake Shack. That waned when I was introduced to their prices and portion sizes. I did enjoy my burger but disappointed that combos are not offered. A shake was the size of a kid's meal drink and it was $5 so that was a sore spot. For the fries (also ala carte), they were crinkle cut and they have Old Bay available for them. There are only two bathrooms at this location for customers. I personally stood in line for 10 minutes and was gratefully I didn't have to do the "dance" prior to someone coming out after roosting in there. The seating arrangement seemed close but offered a lot of seating. The employees have to remember that when they vent about their least favorite co-worker ....we can hear you. read more

Poor service- took 15 minutes to put in order and 45 minutes to get food. Employees move at snail speed/ seem to be more worried about socializing with eachother. Order came out totally wrong. Wasn't worth the effort or time to get it corrected. Oh and burger was still cold in the center, see pic. read more

Excited to check the place out after all the hype since the store opened, however I wasn't as shocked as I thought I would be. I ordered the shroom burger, which is there veggie fried portobello sandwich as well as a side of fries. I got my order to go and thought the way they prepare if for take out was cute, yet not very functional. The bags not able to fully close and keep the heat of the food in. As far as the meal, it was delicious! However with the price I payed I expected the cheese to be slices melting off of a larger sandwich; not velveeta! I did like that they offered old bay to season their fries with, nice Maryland touch. The main disappointment was the portion size, for the price. I realize they were probably accurate portions for the type of food, however this is America and if I am paying double the price of a supersize meal, I want my money's worth! read more

My son and I entered the Shake Shack at 2pm on a Friday. It was busy. We ordered 2 shakes. 45 minutes later, I asked about our shakes. All of a sudden they were ready. People who came in after we did with food orders, large orders, mobile orders got their order before us. Many people around us also were frustrated at their wait time.
