Maybe 3.5 stars. We came in from out of town and stayed at nearby hotel. We've had a couple of meals here on a takeout basis and the food was good. Service was polite and maybe a tad slow but that seemed due to the number of drive thru and takeout orders they had going. The folks eating inside seemed basically like happy people having a casual meal out. I've never been here in person, we always just do the mobile order and pick up. That it is super easy and convenient. We just put in our order run inside and grab it. Right now they have the truffle burger, which I really do love. So once that's over I'm not sure how often I'll come here by the truffle burger is delicious.. when picking up the mobile order is pretty friendly and it's easy to get through the pick up. First time for a meal there and had my best friend. We ordered at the counter since I doing that if I have questions and gives someone a job. It was a short time before we got our food. I had to put my own mustard and ketchup on. While the burgers were good, they were just as good as the ones at 5 Guys and Fries. The fries were average at best. Not sure why the low reviews for this Shake Shack. We ordered Doordash from here today and everything was as expected - I've had Shake Shack before from the Detroit location and the Troy one. I wanted a single hamburger but apparently they didn't let you do it on DD - not sure if it was because it was 8pm or what - so I got a cheeseburger instead (but it was still one patty...). My boyfriend got the spicy burger they're currently advertising and we both got fries. We also got a chocolate toffee milkshake to split. The burger is always a solid 4/5 for me at Shake Shack and the fries are maybe 3-3.5 ... They're basically Ore Ida fries. Shake is always a 5/5 and the chocolate toffee one didn't disappoint, although I like their cookies & cream one more. Overall 4/5 stars for this location, then - fries and burger was a bit lukewarm but it's like a 15-20 minute drive away so I can't blame them for that. read more

Our total was just under $40 which is sort of pricy for 2 burgers, 1 fries, and 3 drinks. Don't get me wrong, everything was pretty good. The original tale of Shake Shack's humble beginnings may be a thing of myth and legend, but they've grown quite far beyond that. I ordered my meal online and picked it up inside. I'd ordered a shake, and there was a note on my ticket that I should pick it up at the counter. They pulled it out of a cooler and handed it to me without any delay. I just had an odd question - If it was kept in the cooler, why was it already melty when I got it? Questions for food philosophers, I suppose. My burger and fries were tasty indeed. I got the basic cheeseburger and fries, wanting to stick with the classics. They delivered on taste. My milkshake was... I guess it was fine. The new shack is opening in Livonia on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Located at the corner of 7 mile and Haggerty in Livonia, this location should rock! Although burgers are their speciality, they also offer a chicken sandwich, chicken bites, and a flat-top hotdog. As far as sides, they have plain French fries, cheese topped, and bacon and cheese topped. And of course there's the shakes!! And if a drink suits your fancy, the have a limited wine and beer menu. I had the opportunity to go to the friends and family event before the grand opening. They were offering drive thru or dine in. I chose to dine in so I could get some photos and relax. Everything was pretty organized considering this was their "training event". I ordered a single SmokeStack burger (burgers can be ordered single, double, or triple). The SmokeStack burger will make you smoke a little - it has cherry peppers which are spicy!! I really liked the spice and the ShakeSauce. I also ordered the plain Crinkle French fries. They were good but nothing to write home about. The shake was another story. I ordered the Black and White which is chocolate and vanilla mixed. I topped it off with whipped cream. So thick and tasty! Definitely worth every heavenly calorie. Although I really enjoyed my meal, I will say the prices are a little high. My meal would have cost me about $16.50 (I noticed there is a 50 cents charge for whipped cream). A bit much for a lunch. This location is a little out of my way also. Well we got out our credit card and walked into this fast food hamburger, hot dog and chicken sandwich restaurant. We chose to dine in and was greeted by friendly and professional staff. My son tried the chicken sandwich and gave it a 10. My wife tried the Shake shack double burger and was not willing to share. I had the hamburger with fresh lettuce but a little sparing on the tomatoes . The fries are tasty but my order was broken pcs from the bottom of the bucket. A little too small to enjoy. All our food was hot and the hamburger was of good quality. Much better than that mac place. We will be back soon and I will try the hot dog and definitely a milk shake! I first became aware of Shake Shack from a small NY-based food blog. Intrigued, I made it a point to visit during a business trip, and of course, when it opened in Michigan, I was eager to go. Now, it is in my corner of the world and I couldn't wait to visit. As a matter of fact, I'm not even waiting for the restaurant to get its bearings - I was here on opening day. I am a bit embarrassed to say that I even drove through a few weeks ago, thinking it had already opened (in my defense, the patio lights were on and I saw a car in the drive-through lane), and then a week or so ago during staff training. I now realized that I was a tad early. In addition to burgers, Shake Shack offers hot dogs, chicken burgers and bites; fries, plain or with a cheese sauce. One of the things I look forward to is the "pie" shake, a shake with pie-bit mix-ins. I did not see it on the current menu. On opening day, I was so busy that I only picked up a frozen custard - vanilla and chocolate. Both flavors were divine. The vanilla tasted like crème brûlée, which makes sense since the same ingredients are in both. The chocolate one had a deep, rich flavor. Two days later, I returned and ordered the double cheeseburger, two griddled patties with lettuce, tomatoes, and ShackSauce. It was perfect. Hot crusty beef patties on a soft, warm bun. Note that you can get the burger wrapped in lettuce - I sometimes do that, but not this time. The fries, crinkle cut, were a bit on the colder side. I don't think the different parts of the kitchen have synched up yet. I splurged and had the Purple Cow, grape soda with vanilla frozen custard, AND separately, another vanilla and chocolate frozen custard. I don't even want to think about the calories or carbs in this meal. Again, as a factor of the frozen custard being prepared much earlier than the rest of the meal, it had melted down. Service was better than expected from a newly-opened location. I think the kitchen will figure out how to sync up the orders so that the temperatures of the individual elements are optimal. read more

First time here today. Very polite young man at the service counter. We ordered a single Shack burger, chicken sandwich, 2 fries, and 2 malts. Burger was very good with a nice amount of char on the edges. Not very big but very tasty. Sauce was just ok. Should have ordered 1 fry. Big enough for 2. My wife loved the chicken sandwich. She said it was moist, flavorful, and just the right size. She was happy that it was not, in her words, "as big as my head". The malts were ok too. I have had better but these are nice and thick with a pretty good flavor. We will be back to try some other menu items so I will have to say this is a go to place in my book. I brought my little boy here after a U of M appointment. I ordered the Smokestack, some chicken chunks for him, a fry and a shake. The burger was pretty good, but on the small size for a $9 single. The shake and fries were great but the chicken chunks not so much. I had hoped for more, but the breading fell off when you'd pick up the chunks, and they were a little dry. It was OK enough, but for $27 I could do better elsewhere. Service was OKish. I used the kiosk to order since the line was moving slowly. I picked up my number and set it on my table, but they ended up just calling my name for me to retrieve our tray. No cars behind me and no line inside. My food was within 5ft of the window sitting on the counter. Pretty good burgers here. Definitely the in vogue smash style burger. We had a cheese burger (double), a single with pickles and bacon (bacon not well cooked...) and I had a pomegrante basil lemonade that was extremely tasty and very strong. Like Pomegrante and Basil decided to kick lemon's butt in my mouth. Excellent fries. I would liken it to the Culver's experience, but MUCH louder. We could barely hear the guy at the counter, and had trouble hearing each other at the table even though the place was NOT crowded. The ceilings inside are an echo chamber. I would probably add a star if they resolved the sound issues. (the funny part: I'm deaf, and I'm complaining that it's loud... which means... it's LOUD.) read more

I remember when Detroit and the surrounding metropolitan area got its first Shake Shack 5 years ago. At the time it was exciting, and I really enjoy the food they offer. I haven't been to the downtown location in a minute, but we happened to notice this one in Livonia while driving and we thought why not grab a quick bite? The wife and I were not terribly hungry so we decided to share one chicken sandwich and order a couple of beverages. But our mood was immediately soured when we opened the wrapping to find how small the sandwich actually was. I could literally eat this whole thing in 3 to 4 bites by myself if I wanted to, and it costs the same as a full sized chicken sandwich in other places. I don't remember their food portions being this small, but I do recall the prices always being expensive. So while the food tastes great, the value is sorely lacking. This was split between my bf and I but seriously my burger was 5 bites maybe? it was just a bit bigger than a white castle. I was expecting a standard size? also fries were like a side small or med size and the shake and drink were one size only but when they handed it to us I was shocked because its a small cup maybe 12 or 16 oz. for $25 we had a snack. Honestly its a one and done for us. The burger was cute and it was good but not anything special Ive had the same kind of burger at a bar. The shake was comparable to wendy's and the fry's were gone in just a few bites and nothing to brag about. cute date night spot i guess and very showy and lights look cool but other than that id pass.
