One night for dinner we decided to order from Shake Shack because I had a coupon for a free burger with $10. I placed the order ahead of time. Pick up was very easy and my order was ready when we got there I got the smoke shack burger. Warning if you do not like spicy, this burger is not for you. There was peppers on it that had such a kick, but loved it. The fries look very plain, but they're actually very tasty. One thing I have to say about this place was how friendly all of the workers were. Everyone greeted us with a smile. They came over and checked in on us while we were eating in the restaurant and then at the end they came over again to make sure everything was good and wished us happy holidays. Went for lunch on Christmas Eve. Used the kiosk to order and waited inside the spacious and clean dining room. In about 5 mins or so, a staff member brought my black truffle shroom burger with crinkle fries. The fries came out piping hot as well as the burger. When I bit into the shroom burger, the melted cheese just oozed out. The truffle sauce is sooooo good! Just wish there was more truffle sauce. The service was great and the staff seemed to be in good spirit. The manager seems to make rounds to check on everything. To preface this: I NEVER go out of my way to give a poor review. Also I've worked in customer and food service for almost 10 years now and so what I experienced was truly off putting enough for me to share. My husband had been wanting to try out this shake shack for a while now and we finally decided to go. We were excited because we really love shake shack. The wait was quite long but that's alright we don't mind waiting. When the burgers and fries arrived they were cold. The chicken bites were the only ones that were hot. We asked for help from a worker nearby, she was sweet and took care of warming up the fries. We hadn't realized the burgers were cold until she got back. I don't ever send food back because I just know the frustrations and feeling of a customer doing that but I paid over $50 including a tip to have received cold food so I asked another server before she had gotten back if they could simply just microwave the burgers. The young man in response plainly said "we are kind of in a rush by the way" and walked away. The gal returned and he was in the vicinity and said that she would be the one to bring back the food which we were okay with because quite frankly I didn't want to chance the guy spitting in my burger with how he responded to us. We waited for a long long time for the burgers (I realized maybe 10 minutes in they must be trying to remake it which I appreciated even though I was totally fine with microwaving it I was starving). The saving grace for this experience that enabled me to put stars was really for the taste of the food and the young girl that helped us out. I fully understand the frustration of when a customer is unsatisfied and asks for assistance. We were kind and respectful about it and apologetic about asking for help and inconveniencing them. The issue that we had as 2 people that have collectively worked in food for 10 years is the way we were treated. This is a customer service job and requires you treat people with proper customer service. I can understand if I were nasty about it but that was not the case whatsoever. If you don't like your job, quit and find another one that fits you better. Been there done it several times and I don't regret the times that I quit because I found something that was better. I sit and wait. Total time waited - 20mins. My issues are: 1. The person at the register couldn't be less interested in being helpful. I gave my name and phone number... and as she saw me waiting didn't bother to say anything. I'm expecting "we're waiting on your..." 2. My order was marked picked up in the app at 8mins; meanwhile my food clearly wasn't ready. Which tells me that the focus is on optics of efficiency rather than real efficiency. 3. After waiting so long to eat, I sat at a booth to eat with my family, and the table and chairs were dirty which boggled my mind since the place was empty. Simply unimpressed. So I did not examine the Yelp reviews for Shake Shack Nanuet before dining but looking now, I feel they're a bit harsh. Or perhaps I lucked out? Anyway, it was fine! There were just minimal things to point out, like the lettuce on my ShackBurger™ was paltry, and I wish raw onions were available as a selection. I got the fried onions for an upcharge, and they were all right but not what I wanted. Now I'm checking online and they seem to be an option, but I didn't see them at the ordering kiosk. Darn.  The crinkle cut fries were fine (let's face it, Shake Shack isn't really known for fries), and my strawberry shake was super satisfying. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. You can just leave your trays on the table, and an employee will take care of them. The restroom was sparkling clean; there are two for women and one for men. My burger was very small, tasted good although I could see part of my patty missing (see pictures) AND my one piece of crappy lettuce was old and nasty. The mushroom burger was good, again slightly over priced for what you get and two of my mushrooms were inedible. I couldn't bite through them. Very odd. Traveling through New York, we needed a quick bite that could accommodate us especially with our dog. Super dog friendly, there were even dog treats and a dog ice cream on the menu!! My daughter had the chicken bites which were similar to chic Fil A, but were bigger and tasted better I had the chicken sandwich and was really happy with my decision- it was yum! My husband had the bacon jam burger, and it was good as well. (I definitely had a bite of each)! The sugarplum fairy shake it's a special going on for the holidays for Shake shack it was a nice vanilla flavored shake with white chocolate sprinkles placed on top. It was a nice different shake from the classic vanilla shake that I get over there and it was a nice festive time. The taste of it was not too rich and it was a decent size. Staff members were very nice and I appreciated that they took the time to be able take my order especially when I at the last minute asked for it to be very well done for my burger. One of the things I look for in any place I eat how nice the people are. I would like to give a higher rating but I am stick with a 3 star rating. Have usually just did pick-up but was returning from trip and since was dinner time, decided to eat in the restaurant instead. What a difference! After ordering at kiosk, got a number to place on table and our dinner was delivered by a very nice man. Everything was so good, the burgers were hot and juicy, lettuce and tomato were very fresh (not a bit wilted), French fries hot and crisp, and of course the delicious, thick shake topped it off. Was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every bit! The restaurant was very clean but the a/c blew on us so it was chilly. The restroom was clean so no complaints. I received the fries within two minutes of ordering. The Shake? I waited. Waited. Waited. When I inquired where it was they had no clue what I was taking about. I had to show them my receipt and then the workers continued to chat amongst themselves some more while I continued to wait. It took 22 minute from the time I ordered until I received my Shake!! I ordered a Hot Ones Chicken Sandwich and I expected it to be more hot, but nevertheless it was really good. This is my first negative review out of all of my reviews as I'm not a complainer, and if a business is not up to my standards I simply walk away. Tonight was my second trip ever to a shake shack. My first was 3 weeks ago when I ordered takeout of a cheeseburger, hamburger, and a white truffle burger. Three weeks ago it was awful, the meat looked like a sponge, was over cooked and definitely over priced. The exact same thing happened tonight. However the French fries were some of the best I ever had. Do yourself a favor, goes to five guys and experience the best burger ever. This concept was the brainchild of Danny Meyer of the famed Union Square cafe that I have eaten at while in NYC. My prediction is a bankruptcy in the near future similar to the issues and problems that Starbucks has. They charge twice as much and claim their quality is superior, but in reality it's not. It's simply lipstick on a pig. I won't be back and for the record, I eat regularly at Smith and Wolenskys and Peter Lugar's in Brooklyn. I know my meats as I also eat Bison when at a friends ranch along with grass fed beef. My grandfather was also a butcher. Don't be fooled by the fancy menu and condiments offered.
