Stopped into the new 304 Diner after staying nearby for a wedding, looking for a solid hangover cure and it absolutely delivered. Even on a late Saturday morning, there was plenty of seating and we were seated right away. I ordered the western omelette with a bagel and cream cheese and both were delicious, well-cooked, and generously portioned. With an iced coffee, my total was around $20, which felt like a great deal. I also snagged a bite of my friend's French toast and was honestly surprised by how good it was, definitely something I'd order for myself next time. The menu is huge, so there's no shortage of options, and our server was super friendly and helpful. Not sure what the name discrepancy is about but all good. I comes up on google as the New 304 diner but it is also called New City Diner. Who cares. Its a diner with all the fixings. The classic dessert case is filled with homemade treats. The service is friendly and we enjoyed our breakfast. The muffins are delicious especially the blueberry and bran ones. Corn muffin also good. Ok. I am a diner guy. Love these places. This one is just right and very reasonably priced. Dining area is clean comfortable and plenty of tables. Staff was on point friendly and willing to go the extra mile to satisfy our needs! Food was on point. Went with the corned beef and pastrami Swiss cheese mustard. And horse radish!!! Yummy!!! We were looking for a diner close to our Nanuet hotel,. The reviews for New 304 sounded inviting. We were warmly greeted and seated and presented with a huge menu covering all day breakfast on the back page. There was a little badge in the corner saying juice and coffee was included with any breakfast entree, weekdays until 10, but the waitress said it was discontinued. In that case, they should put a sticker over it on the menu. Otherwise, the food, eggs Benedict and omelet were well-prepared and presented. Service was attentive and coffee was kept full. The restaurant and bar was festively decorated for the holidays and the appearance was clean. We'll return next time we're in the area. read more

Went to the diner today to have a nice breakfast because I have had a nice breakfast there before and a good lunch of chicken cutlet parmigiana. However, this time I was not lucky. The corn muffin I ordered was barely toasted, without the requested butter and ice cold in the middle. The eggs and potatoes were fine, however the bacon was fried harder than my sneaker sole. My breakfast, according to the menu comes with juice and coffee before 11 AM. Though I was seated at 10:28 AM, I was charged full price for coffee and full price for juice. When asked why that was, I was told it's a holiday. To my knowledge, Christmas was yesterday. They are telling me specials do not apply for the entire week. I don't understand that. Since it's the holiday season, I guess no specials will be reflected in the bill. Made no sense and I didn't want to argue. Instead I was charged an extra $10 for something, according to the menu, that was included in the breakfast. I will NEVER RETURN. Did I say NEVER? I truly mean NEVER. The food here was typical for a diner. Nothing terrible nothing great, just ehhh. The waiter was slow and disappeared for awhile before we ordered. Eventually we ordered the Reuben and a cheeseburger, both came with soup and fries. We did upgrade one order of fries to waffle fries, which were great. The Reuben was good, I asked for the bread to be extra toasted because of how wet the rest of the ingredients are in this sandwich but I don't think the bread was toasted at all. The Reuben came with fries that were under done. The cheeseburger was .. a cheeseburger, nothing to really write about. However the waffle fries that came with it were great. Went for dinner at 6:30 on Saturday night. The left hand side, with tables and booths, was closed so four of us had to sit at a booth on the right hand side. I never liked booths, prefer tables. The hostess was not willing to allow us to use the tables. The waitresses made many mistakes with our order, wrong food coming out at all different times for each of us. The kicker was about half way through our dinner, they opened the side with tables. Finally, the burger deluxe was very small / skinny for a diner, and we had to ask for the Cole slaw and pickles which were listed on the menu. Can't afford inconsistent service for the prices we are now paying. Will not be going back since there are so many other fine diners in the area. read more

Banana Nutella pancakes the best I've ever had. Same goes for their waffle. Their mix is not the usual diner pancake and waffle mix. It is truly mouth watering. Eat here. If you can get past the mean short guy at the front. Manager? He yelled at me, and his worker, (guy who took my order over the phone), about a ridiculous soup that was not available so early in the morning. "Not your fault but don't order a sandwich that comes with a soup so early in the morning. Cause you won't get it. And he should not have taken your order!" I get it dude. I wont ever order one of your sandwiches that promises a soup along with it. But belittling your staff and talking down to a customer about a dumb order, is unprofessional and uncalled for. The 304 has been here for decades under many different owners and incarnations. They have the diner formula down to a science - do the basics well and hope that no one orders anything exotic from their voluminous menu. In other words eggs, pancakes, burgers and sandwiches are in their wheelhouse... the shrimp scampi not so much. 304 is a local stalwart that it's nice to come home to every once in awhile. read more

A good diner There is nothing quite like a good, familiar looking diner early in the morning for breakfast. I saw this one on Yelp and headed there this morning. I had been here once before, years ago when it was New City Diner. I remembered it because it stands out along Route 304. I learned in reading the other reviews it has recently been renovated. Whatever problems is once had, the place seemed perfectly fine to me today. I was greeted when I first walked in and coffee quickly followed. They had the usual sort of items, omelettes, some egg dishes, benedicts, griddle items. I didn't see any standout or featured item, so I went with my usual selection, Corned Beef Hash & Eggs. I liked it, it was prepared where the top was crunchy. It was canned hash, but I like canned hash, so that was ok with me. The eggs were cooked correctly. It was not my favorite style of potatoes. The food was ready in a bit over 10 minutes. A few reviews mentioned price. They have a special where during breakfast except on Sundays you get free coffee with your breakfast of $4.99 or more. My breakfast, with the free coffee, came to just under $10 before tip. I thought that was reasonable. read more

I honestly must say this diner is actually very very good. I frequent diners a lot and this was the first one I can truly say I enjoyed. I ordered the Chorizo skillet and was very surprised. one because none of the other diners I visit have a skillet as a choice and two the skillet had flavor. the potatoes were well seasoned that I did not need ketchup. The Chorizo also had flavor so need and my eggs are what they are. the coffee was better than the other places too and the staff were all very nice and fast. my first visit was for with a bridal party of 16 people. They accommodated us immediately which surprised me. I thought they wouldn't be able to. My second try was that day of the wedding and I placed 16 orders as take out and they got everything right!!! wow! everything was ready within the time they said, about 30-40mins and all had flavor. well at least my dish did lol. My third and fourth visit service and staff were great and food was on point. Hubby ordered the steak and eggs and he was very happy. we also ordered silver dollar pancakes and were very good. we look forward to our next visit and will try lunch. In general not a big fan of diners and I've been to the diner location so many times over the years (although under different ownership) but the new ownership is a winner. I love the staff and I specially love the short Greek guy running the place, he just puts a smile on my face. Old school guy like my parents. I've been here several times and the food is consistently great and they have some decent specials if you go at the right time. I recommend this diner to everyone! read more

Prices are a little steep and everyone I work with seems to be soured on this place due to former management, so it took me a while to try this place. That said, I called in a takeout order of a BLT and fries - my lunchtime diner staple, walked across the 2 parking lots separating this place and where I work, and it was basically ready when I got there. Total elapsed time between phone call, walk, pickup, and arrival back at work? 9 minutes. The owner and the lady manning the register while I waited were super sweet too. I got the sandwich on a roll, and I was happy to see they used romaine and not crappy iceberg lettuce. Bacon was appropriately crispy and the tomato slices were nice and thick. Fries were nice seasoned ones, not boring plain fries, so that's a plus too. Total was about $8-9, and worlds better than driving 5 minutes up the street to Subway for their lousy BLT. How to lose a customer. I have been going to this diner since it opened. There is now a new owner. Instead of being savvy, the diner now charges if you ask for a tiny cup of salsa and sour cream to go home with the leftover quesadillas. Because of this "additional" charge, I may think twice about eating here. I definitely do not feel that my business is appreciated. With this type of extra charge, the diner will be losing a lot more than the $1.50 for the sauce for my leftovers. $1.50 will cost them a lot more in than long run.. read more

Came here on a Sunday morning prior to hiking since it was nearby. The location was convenient but the food was mediocre. I ordered the California breakfast burrito which was really tasty. The burrito had grilled chicken, avocado, tomato, bacon, and cheddar jack cheese. I enjoyed it, but they did not give enough salsa to compliment the burrito. My friend ordered the sampler which came with French toast, eggs, sausage, and bacon. The presentation was awful and the food was pretty subpar. When we got there, we were told that the kid's menu was only for children 9 and under. We had explained that the kids had special needs. The manager came out and was very rude and didn't care.
