Weekday lunches here have always been on the quiet side in my experience, so it was great to see a lively crowd for once. (Because I don't want them to go out of business.) This location has everything you'd expect from Shake Shack -- attentive service, a clean and welcoming space, and those burgers, fries, and shakes that keep you coming back. The real standout, though, is the parking. The lot is literally steps from the entrance, and I found a spot easily even on a busy Sunday -- a small miracle by LA standards. First time visiting shake shack and ordered a handful of items including smoke shack, shroom burger, chicken bites, fries and half/half mango passion fruit lemonade. The burger was cooked medium well and was perfectly seasoned, while the shroom burger and was fried well but the cheese inside was not melted much. A little hard to bite through the mushroom skin. The fries were a little on the saltier side but had a nice crunch to them. Chicken bites were well seasoned, would order again. The mango passion fruit half/half tasted like it was only lemonade and I thankfully had black tea on hand that I mixed it with which made it perfectly balanced. I remember when Shake Shack first opened in Los Angeles and the lines were so long that they went all the way down the street. Fast forward to now, almost 9 years later and the stores are kinda empty. I like that they have Kiosks to order from in the store, but was puzzled when the staff asks me as I am ordering from the Kiosk if I need assistance. I feel like because the store was so empty, that the staff felt the need to "do something" but their over bearing nature made me feel a little awkward. I came in to try this new black truffle burger. The burger is good. It's kind of heavy and I really like the quality of meat they use here. However, the burger came out to about $17 for just the burger. No fries, no drinks, nothing else, just a double burger. That's quite a lot for a fast food burger. Shake shack is in a interesting position because it's branded as fast food... right? But it has gourmet burger prices. I would give this place 4 stars if it wasn't for the final nail in the coffin. I was asked to tip at the kiosk a whopping 20% for ordering at a kiosk a to-go order. We ordered the food via the Shake Shack apps before coming and when we arrived, the food was already prepped for us, ready for pick up. We received text messages when the food was being prepped and when it was ready for pick up. The place was quite busy during dinner time on Saturday night, but we were able to find a table. Water and ketchup are self served. You need a bathroom code. We walked to this location so I'm not sure how the parking situation is there, it looks like street parking or one of those public parking around the area. We ordered the cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, and the crinkle fries with shack sauce on the side. The cheeseburger was good it's satisfying and all the flavors work well together, the patty was cooked nicely as well. The crinkle fries were crispy with a hint of salt. I had to take off a star here because of the chicken nuggets and the shack sauce. The chicken nuggets were very very very salty for some reason. The texture of the skin is crispy but it crumbles the moment you pick it up, so all the crispy crumbs falls off before it makes it to your mouth, and you end up with a naked chicken nugget which is overly salted. I am also not a huge fan of the shack sauce for dipping sauce, it's very heavy and thick but lacking in flavor. I prefer the ketchup over the shack sauce for dipping. It's weird because I think there's some shack sauce in the cheeseburger and its fine there. Maybe just my preferences. Overall our party had a great time here and we enjoyed our food. Pro Tip- Like Five Guys, SS will do their best to charge you separately for your burger, fries, drink + shake. Meaning the vast majority of folks must choose between their fries or a signature shake, both of which start @ $6. Spend the extra two quarters to add cheese to your fries and, alas, two ppl can SHARE one side. Burgers- 4 stars. Terrific taste, especially if you ask for well done, which delivers unctuous segments of well griddled ground chuck goodness. They lose points for the sloppy, unkempt presentation, which reminds me of 5 Guys. Shake Shacks charges Ritz Carlton prices, delivers Motel 6 style on their burgers. Fries- 4 stars. Finally, if you browse the corporate website, SS extols their humble origins as a hot dog stand imbued with a mission- Stand for Something Good, is how they describe it. This well-traveled Yelp Elite Correspondent humbly suggests that Shake Shack would do very well by remembering its simple roots and by implementing more budget-friendly options such as combo meals or discontinuing their heavy reliance upon strict a la carte pricing. My wife and I visited a Shake Shack while we were in Las Vegas a couple of months ago, and we were very impressed by the burgers. She had the Black Truffle 'Shroom and I had the Avocado Bacon Burger. Our meal was delicious, and so we decided to try the Shake Shack in Santa Monica because it's relatively close to where we live. Our regular burger places are In-N-Out and the Habit Burger. I'm not that big a fan of In-N-Out because the fries are so wimpy and burgers so small, but my wife likes it. The Habit is a much bigger burger, but the bun is a bit oversized. They do give a lot of different options as far as toppings go. I would say Shake Shack burgers are somewhat of a cross between the two: nice size burger patties that are very tasty inside of a bun that's not too big. But some of the pros and cons, at least for this location: Pros: 1) Lots of seating both inside and out. 2) Decent sized parking lot, but I can see it getting full when the restaurant gets crowded. When I went to pick up my food, there were only a couple of open spots, and the restaurant was only about a quarter full. 3) Meat was nicely charred and tasty, bun not too big. 4) Cringle-cut fries are decently crispy. Cons: 1) They don't have the Black Truffle 'Shroom at this location, at least, not when I tried to order it online. I'd have to go to the Marina Del Rey location to get it. 2) Toppings were very bleak. Small lettuce leaf on each of our burgers and two small slices of tomato, like they used a small plum (Roma) tomato instead of like a beefsteak. Nothing like the amount of toppings that show in the picture. Fairly disappointed. Will probably avoid the Santa Monica location and try the Marina Del Rey one when we're down in that area. read more

The menu is Burgers, chicken, shakes, and all sorts of sides. All of it is great and made fresh to order. Also, the company actually cares about their employees and if any employee desires they supply Black Lives Matter work polo shirts. I love a company that takes a chance and stands up for what is right. The burgers are organic and great. They have this sauce they put on your burger if you want, I get it on the side so I can dip fries in it. It is super good. Their shakes are the best. You enter and order at the counter. You can sit inside or out and they deliver your order to you. You can also get it to go, or have delivery. The counters and the entire place is kept so very clean. You will love their food. I've been wanting to try Shake Shack for a long time. My husband and I were in Santa Monica and wanted to get something to eat. I convinced him to go try Shake Shack. It's located on Wilshire Blvd and 5th Street, where Panera Bread used to be. The restaurant looked nice and I really liked the patio. I ordered a ShakeBurger and fries. The cashier was very nice and pleasant (Chris 8 according to the receipt). When you order, they give you a number and bring the food to the table. The order came out quick which I liked. Now the french fries were not hot and tasted ok. The hamburger was not what I expected at all. It was small and bland. The way it was put together was very slappy. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it. I would give it more like 3.5 stars but the cashier was really nice so I'm upping it to 4 stars. I really wanted to like this place but it didn't meet my expectations.
