My wife and I visited a Shake Shack while we were in Las Vegas a couple of months ago, and we were very impressed by the burgers. She had the Black Truffle 'Shroom and I had the Avocado Bacon Burger. Our meal was delicious, and so we decided to try the Shake Shack in Santa Monica because it's relatively close to where we live. Our regular burger places are In-N-Out and the Habit Burger. I'm not that big a fan of In-N-Out because the fries are so wimpy and burgers so small, but my wife likes it. The Habit is a much bigger burger, but the bun is a bit oversized. They do give a lot of different options as far as toppings go. I would say Shake Shack burgers are somewhat of a cross between the two: nice size burger patties that are very tasty inside of a bun that's not too big. But some of the pros and cons, at least for this location: Pros: 1) Lots of seating both inside and out. 2) Decent sized parking lot, but I can see it getting full when the restaurant gets crowded. When I went to pick up my food, there were only a couple of open spots, and the restaurant was only about a quarter full. 3) Meat was nicely charred and tasty, bun not too big. 4) Cringle-cut fries are decently crispy. Cons: 1) They don't have the Black Truffle 'Shroom at this location, at least, not when I tried to order it online. I'd have to go to the Marina Del Rey location to get it. 2) Toppings were very bleak. Small lettuce leaf on each of our burgers and two small slices of tomato, like they used a small plum (Roma) tomato instead of like a beefsteak. Nothing like the amount of toppings that show in the picture. Fairly disappointed. Will probably avoid the Santa Monica location and try the Marina Del Rey one when we're down in that area. read more

Shake Shack, this one located in Santa Monica, is just so yummy. The place is just spotless and all Covid measures are in place. The service is fast and super friendly. The menu is Burgers, chicken, shakes, and all sorts of sides. All of it is great and made fresh to order. Also, the company actually cares about their employees and if any employee desires they supply Black Lives Matter work polo shirts. I love a company that takes a chance and stands up for what is right. The burgers are organic and great. They have this sauce they put on your burger if you want, I get it on the side so I can dip fries in it. It is super good. Their shakes are the best. You enter and order at the counter. You can sit inside or out and they deliver your order to you. You can also get it to go, or have delivery. The counters and the entire place is kept so very clean. You will love their food. I've been wanting to try Shake Shack for a long time. My husband and I were in Santa Monica and wanted to get something to eat. I convinced him to go try Shake Shack. It's located on Wilshire Blvd and 5th Street, where Panera Bread used to be. The restaurant looked nice and I really liked the patio. I ordered a ShakeBurger and fries. The cashier was very nice and pleasant (Chris 8 according to the receipt). When you order, they give you a number and bring the food to the table. The order came out quick which I liked. Now the french fries were not hot and tasted ok. The hamburger was not what I expected at all. It was small and bland. The way it was put together was very slappy. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it. I would give it more like 3.5 stars but the cashier was really nice so I'm upping it to 4 stars. I really wanted to like this place but it didn't meet my expectations. Unfortunately, I got food poison from this place. Came here on Tuesday, 05/04/21. I went inside to place my order to go. I got a single hamburger (with lettuce, pickles, onions, and sauce) and crispy crinkle-cut fries. The hamburger is pretty small and tasted ok. Not good as In-N-Out but still ok. Unfortunately that same night I had a bad stomach ache. I got so many stomach cramps and went to the bathroom more than 5 times. I knew it was the burger because that's the only thing I had that day. I called them the next day and the manager Andrew handled it very well. He immediately apologizes and asked what was on the burger. I emailed him my receipt and he said he will refund me the money. I'm still waiting on the refund but maybe it will take a few more days. While I appreciate him being so kind and understanding, I'll never return here or go to any other location. What I went through that night was horrible. I can't imagine bringing myself to try their burger again. read more

We got 2 chicken sandwiches, and thank god we got it as a BOGO because if we actually paid for two, I would've been so upset. These burgers are TINY especially for the price you pay... way smaller than the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches. It's literally daylight robbery how small they are. Beyond the food issues, the service here is atrocious and could use more training. We ordered online for pick-up, so naturally went to the "online order pick-up" area to wait. The worker behind the register didn't say nothing to us, which didn't bother us at first. We waited for a good 10 minutes, thinking our food was still getting prepped, but started to think something was wrong since there weren't a lot of people. When we were about to ask about our order, the worker asks, "are you waiting to order?", to which we tell her we ordered online and she tells us that actually online orders aren't picked up in the designated online order pick-up area, rather where all other orders are readied and picked up. Baffling she didn't say anything earlier given we were clearly waiting for food and not waiting to order... so we walk over to where she tells us to, and we see a bag just sitting in the kitchen area which ends up being ours (so it was ready this whole time) but we had to tell her "hey we think that's our order" to which she then says "yeah it is"... ?????? Huh??? So you knew we were waiting for an order, didn't say anything, then when telling us to go to this other place for our food, you don't hand us our food until we actually call it out? read more

My first time trying Shake Shack and I had an overall good experience. Firstly, want to come off and say that this should be considered "fast food". It was a lot pricier than most typical burger joints and service took longer. On the flip side, the flavors of the burgers we ordered were a lot more creative than other chain restaurants. Starting with my personal favorite, the Shroom burger. Very unique concept, it's a vegan burger that has a portabello mushroom stuffed with cheese. It was very crispy, not too heavy, and overall very good. The only issue is that it was pretty small, both burgers were, and it wasn't enough to fill you up if you're really hungry. We also got the Spicy Bacon Burger which is a collab with Hot Ones and it was pretty good, nothing to call home about. Again, on the small side especially for the price. Fries and shake were average. This used to be a Panera bread. Free parking in the back. The place is very spacious and modern. The staff is very friendly. Food is not super speedy but not too long of a wait. A friend's and I went to visit this location this evening just before close and it was verbally disgusting what happened next. I waited outside while they were going to order and the Employees on staff became immediately belligerent because no one had on mask and they said they were just simply leaving. When my friends walked out of the restaurants one of my friends was not happy because 1 of the employees called us a "piece of shit" and I went in myself immediately and wanted to get their supervisor's name the district manager and the female employee was very arrogant and confrontational and I will make absolutely certain that with their 3 stars they go down to 1 star because of their arrogance attitude and unprofessionalism. Very disappointed in my visit at this restaurants. My kids have been asking me to try it since it opened a while back. I was finally able to take them yesterday but they all were very disappointed in it. The place was empty so we got our food quite fast. Both my mother and mother in law are vegan so we ordered the mushroom burger but the girl at the front didn't explain that it wouldn't actually be coming with any mushrooms. We asked for vegan so she offered it but she didn't explain that it had cheese. It was basically a salad burger. Nope didn't like it. The kids burgers has welted lettuce which isn't a tasty option. Husband and child were happy with their bacon cheeseburgers and chicken bites, and I was delighted with my hot honey fried chicken sandwich - it was juicy and just a tad spicy. I was not as enthralled with our somewhat soggy krinkle-cut fries (I'm not a fan of this cut in general) or the milkshake, which was just ok in my book (but the kiddo liked it because it was easy to drink through a thin straw, so that should give you an idea of consistency). Something that I don't liked is they have to cashiers and 2 self check out, on of the self check out is not working, and the cashier literally are there to embrace you to used the self check out but; I'm not working there, not getting pay to be there, actually paying to be there... If you're vegetarian and especially if you're vegan, I don't recommend coming here. They have a veggie burger but they cook it on the same grill as meat, so what's the point?
