First restaurant I've had the pleasure of trying in St. Louis Missouri and it did not disappoint! From beginning to end it was fantastic! I of course ended up ordering their chicken bites (I thought they would be tenders) they ended up being more like chicken nuggets but they were cooked uniquely. Definitely had some Asian inspiration for sure, nonetheless they were great. They were crunchy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside. They employee taking orders was quick and to the point, didn't have to repeat any part of the order or anything. The food came out very quickly, and funny story, my name is Michael, my girlfriends sisters boyfriends name is Jordan and we were both picking up the orders. The "waitress" walked to the counter called out both names and obviously said Michael Jordan unintentionally and it almost brought me to my knees. It was a cold and wet Monday night and I thought a burger sounded great. I needed to do some grocery shopping and it I thought why not give Shake Shack another go and I can shop at the Whole Foods across the street. My first visit to Shake Shack was on their 2nd day of being open. Here we are four months later and it's a whole different world in there. They weren't busy. I ordered right away and got the Smoke Shack and cheese fries with cheese on the side (I don't like when they get soggy.) I got a table right away and my food was out relatively quickly. This time I ordered a single and I felt like that really threw off the meat to bun ratio. Their buns are meant for a double. The burger was decent. The crinkle fries were ice cold. The cheese sauce was ice cold. You could tell all of the corporate babysitters that were present on day #2 were long gone. They've settled into the status quo. We arrived at about 2pm on Memorial Day. We were warned about the line, so we were prepared And guess what? No long line!! We ordered from the counter and ordered a shake to go, to be picked up afterwards. A young gentleman came to our table and asked what he could get us. I guess we looked a bit surprised( because we thought it was all self-order/self-serve ), so he paused, smiled, and introduced himself and said he will take care of us. And he did just that. His name is Eric, ask for him next time you visit. He should teach the course on customer service! He was fabulous!! Now for the food. I had the 'Shroom Burger. With the bun, it was the size of my palm. It was stacked with one deep-fried breaded portobello, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and tomato. My first-bite impression: delicious UNTIL, I could not get my teeth through the mushroom. I bit down again and tried to saw through it with a canine. Not happenin.' I pulled the mushroom from my sandwich and it was as leathery as a loafer. Perhaps it was a bit too long in the fridge? Damn, and it started out so good! My husband had the Shack basic burger. It was also palm-size. He was a bit disappointed by the size. He said he loved the taste of the burger, however, would not return due to lack of value ( his opinion). We split a small bacon-cheese fries with about 1 1/2 T of cheese. The fries tasted fresh and just enough crisp on the outside and tender inside The combo of cheese and bacon were tasty, just wished there was enough to cover the fries more. I love Shake Shack's food. Plain and simple. I am really not a burger person, I hardly order beef when I dine out, but this is one of those places I just crave a burger from. There's a lot of hype behind Shake Shack, especially with this location being the first in Missouri and St. Louis... but the meal is worth the hype, to me. I first tried Shake Shack in Chicago, and fell in love with it. It's of course pricier than most fast food burger restaurants, but the quality of food is worth it. I always just get the Shack Burger with a side of cheese fries and I am good to go. The burger itself is fresh, juicy, and absolutely salty-beefy deliciousness. If you're not into beef they have chicken, dogs, and a mushroom burger option too! I want to try the chicken and mushroom option but I love the burger so much I can't bring myself to venture out. The fries are fantastic. I don't know what it is about Shake Shack fries, but they are addictive. The cheese sauce on them is so mild (that it doesn't just taste like cheese) but so flavorful at the same time. That cheese sauce compliments those salty, fluffy little guys so darn well. I don't know how they do it. Don't get me wrong, they serve you a quality amount of fries, and this might just be the 9 months pregnant me talking... but I almost wanted to order an entire extra order of fries after I was finishing eating mine. That's how good they are. Except ain't no body got time to wait in that line again... ...Which brings me to my least favorite thing about this place is that it is always super busy. We came to eat lunch at 3 pm on a rainy Monday and it was still packed!! We managed to get a table just fine, and the employees do a very good job at busing the tables. You still have the responsibility of putting away your tray and throwing your trash away, but they do clean off the tables and sweep up fairly often, so when you do go to grab a table that's been open for like 45 seconds, most likely the staff has already cleaned it off for you. That's definitely a positive. All in all, I love Shake Shack's food. I dislike the location, lack of parking, and how busy it is. But hey, that's not going to stop me from returning :P read more

I really wanted to like this more than I did. My boys rave about this place so my review is not relevant if you ask them. However! For the price, my review is accurate. There's a wait for food once ordered. (Not a big deal) But if one waits for food, you'd think it would be hot...warm at a minimum. My fries were straight up cold. In hindsight I should have ordered the cheese fries. After viewing other people's order the liquid cheese on the fries looked amazing and probably would have added some warmth. The burger? I don't understand the rave? I prefer smaller portions but for the price this burger kind of through me off. Aside from it being cold, the onion slices (which were huge) overwhelmed the burger. I'll give it to them for the freshness of the onion (and likely all of the ingredients) but as much as I appreciate onion on my burger I did not order an onion sandwich. The milkshake...or malt? Having grown up on a solid west coast diet of In-N-Out burgers, I was pleasantly surprised by how good Shake Shack turned out to be. Rarely do I say this, but the food here exceeded my expectations. The husband and I came here at 1 PM on a Thursday to avoid the usual line that goes out the door. We could smell the tantalizing aroma of sizzling beef and fries from half a mile away, but even that couldn't tempt us to brave the subarctic temps of this year's unholy winter. I ordered the Double Shack Burger, crinkle fries, and CWE Blend concrete. The burger came out piping hot, which I always appreciate, and was simply splendid. The patties were juicy and full of flavor, the buns were fresh, and the special sauce enhanced the entire ensemble without being overpowering. Bravo. The fries didn't do it for me, unfortunately. Of all the French fry varieties (waffle, curly, animal-style), crinkle would be my last pick. But maybe they will taste better doused in cheese or chili, since those options are available. The CWE Blend concrete was also a letdown. The first few bites were wonderfully sweet and creamy, with a nice contrast from the salted caramel. A third of the way down the cup, however, I started hitting golfball-sized chunks of salted caramel that were completely inedible. At least for concretes, I'll stick to Ted Drewes. Prices here are higher end - $5-6/single, $8-9/double - but IMO it's worth it for such a great burger. I, for one, will be back soon! read more

The restaurant's prices are a little bit hefty for burgers and fries, but I'm willing to splurge on a juicy Shack Stack every so often. BUT I don't know how often I'll be splurging at the Shake Shack in St Louis. I live a few blocks away from the restaurant and I have yet to see the restaurant without a 30-40 minute line outside of it. (And that's just the line to order.) You have no wait another 20-30 minutes for the food. Waiting an hour for burgers and fries is just not worth it to me. Oh Shake Shack. You've filled a hole in my Texas loving heart I thought might stay empty forever. Your burgers are on par with In 'N Out (fresh and crispy veggies, wonderfully seasoned beef, with the freshest bun), and your crinkle cut fries are (dare I say) BETTER than Braums. A good crispy crinkle fry is a wondrous thing. The shakes were so good and when they say cookie mixed in, they don't mean cookie crumbles, they mean a whole freakin' cookie. I can't wait for summer to roll around to try the Pie O' My Shake and enjoy a slice of summer pie mixed into their delicious custard. The wait was long and I felt like a pretentious twit for it but watching the staff do their thing made it worth the wait. The place was packed, the staff quietly, gently let the manager know they hadn't had a break in a while when he came to check on them, but they just kept cranking it out, only stepping away from the kitchen to clean up spills and check the stocks of the napkin station. Everyone who is anyone tries Shake Shack at least once, right? We decided to try it on a weeknight, after all the hype wore off, when we were visiting someone at Children's Hospital. Unaware of the parking situation as I'm not as familiar with the area, I was happy to see it was across the street from Whole Foods, which I needed to pick up a few things from there anyway. I parked in their garage and walked across to eat. The place was relatively packed for a weeknight, we got in line and surveyed the menu. The menu is not very expansive. I'm more of a chicken fan so I settled for the Chick n Shack with nothing on it and an order of fries. My husband decided on a regular double shack burger with an order of fries. When the order was ready, they royally messed up his ridiculously simple burger that they took it back and gave us fries to munch on while they tried to fix it. Both meals weren't anything spectacular, more like something I could make at home. The fries were crispy so that was a highlight. Decided to get a chocolate shake at the end and I recommend sharing one as it was incredibly rich. Prices are high and not in good comparison to what you get in terms of food. Our entire meal was more than going to a different restaurant, sitting down, being waited on and getting more on our plates. They need more staff to keep the dining room up to par. Edited- bumped from one to two stars after speaking with a manager, Danielle, today. She was very nice and is refunding us and giving us vouchers for our next meal. Her response about why they package the shakes with the hot food for pick up was still not at all satisfying (she said the shakes usually get forgotten by delivery drivers). Perhaps putting a strip of tape, a sticker, or a staple to attach the two bags would work? For now, we will still not order delivery from them again but may venture out for in person dining there when Covid settles down a bit more. We ordered Shake Shack for delivery through their app for the first time tonight. We wanted to try the burgers and fries as well as the shakes. Big mistake apparently. They packaged our shakes right down in the bag next to the burgers and fries. By the time the food arrived to us more than 40 minutes later (thanks a lot, Uber Eats) the shakes were soup, and the food was room temperature. The fries were soggy and disgusting. The burgers were ok after being microwaved. The shakes were a lost cause. Why offer shakes for delivery if you can't package them properly to protect them during transit (at minimum in a separate bag from hot food- that's just common sense). I tried calling the manager and left a message. We will see if they call back. If we eat here again (doubtful) it definitely won't be through delivery. What a mess. read more

Absolutely love Shake Shack! The first time I had it was overseas and figured it was like any other burger joint, but was blown away! Burger melts in your mouth it's so juicy and the sauce is superb. I don't understand some of these reviews complaining about the long waits. Nobody is forcing you to go immediately after the grand opening your going to a restaurant who's highly popular at the moment obviously there is gonna be long waits and miss communications are gonna happen with hundreds of people pouring in you need to understand that this might happen going in and understand the current circumstances. If you don't want to be inconvenienced and are easily triggered wait it out until the place cools off a bit you might have a better experience and enjoy your food a lot more rather than thinking how someone at the counter didn't ask you how your day is going. As far as the food I thought the burger was one of the best I've had in stlouis ( very close to the level that you can get from east stlouis you know the guy barbecuing next to the strip joint :) ) all joking aside me being a food junky and especially a burger junkie shake shack is probably in my top 3 having tried in n out, a few other places traveling the country and a handful of places in stlouis I might add that I had the burger without the buns since I am on a low carb diet I'm sure the burger would have been even better if I had the buns included I can't wait to go back and try their shakes read more

The burgers, shakes, and fries here were bomb. For a chain restaurant I would say that I had one of the better cheeseburger and fries combinations I've ever had. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say that waiting in that long line and standing in the cold is worth it. I'm originally a Cali kid that grew up on In-N-Out so I was eager to try Shake Shack for the first time to decide who is the top burger chain in my opinion. After eating Shake Shack for the first time I came to the conclusion that they are two different to be compared, so I won't say either one is better than the other (but I like In-N-Out more). Anyways, the burger I had was greasy and sloppy just the way I like it. The fries were crispy and delicious. Lastly, the strawberry shake I had was pretty good, but nothing to go home and brag about. This place just opened up in St. Louis. I have to say that it is very aesthetically pleasing. This place has a great atmosphere and a great location. I ordered from the app so they did not have the cheese and bacon on them. I thought that was cool. The toppings came in little cups. The fries were 4.99, but it's basically a small fry from any fast food restaurant. Again. Even though they were good it was not worth the price. The creamsicle float was not very float-esque. Usually root beer floats or any other float has two to three scoops of ice cream and then soda. I feel like I had half a scoop of ice cream and the rest was soda. Which is saying alot because it is a large cup. I do think if my creamsicle float was made better it would have been worth it. I think their price for the shakes and floats are fair for the size. If you do feel like stopping here during it's opening month and the next few months to come (today is December 17th,2017. This is a St. Louis restaurant. The fries are as otherworldly crispy and delicious as other reviews say, and the burgers are good, but the service is definitely hit or miss. I missed this time - I watched a bunch of people come later and get their orders before me. It took a full 25 minutes to get my to-go order (not long compared to other cautionary tales on Yelp on busy days, but much longer than my co-customers today), and I ordered in-store, not online. I went at about 1pm on a Sunday and happened to catch a short line, and after I ordered, a slew of people came in. I ordered a regular burger, a burger with the fried portabello mushroom on top, two orders of fries and a concrete, all as a to-go order. I waited 15-20 min, watching several people who ordered after me get their full order. When I finally inquired to make sure my order wasn't lost, the girl at the counter who was announcing ready orders went to investigate and said that they were waiting for one of my burgers (I guess the mushroom one). After another round of waiting and seeing other people who came way later than me get their orders, she finally called me up, but my order was put on a tray so I had to ask her to convert it to go. My concrete was kinda gooey, probably because it was sitting there waiting for awhile. There were so many people behind the counter, at least a dozen, but the use of so many employees seemed not efficient at all. Only one register (of three available) was working, and I watched employees move at a snail's pace and without much purpose, and some on break and not doing any work at all. I waited with a couple other people who had made online orders and seemed impatient as well. The wait time itself is not the issue as much as the mismatch with the other customers' and the inefficiency of the kitchen. I'd give a 4 rating for the food and 3 for value, but the overall experience was very disappointing. I'll maybe try again another time and see if it goes better. The staff gave us a free burger on a future visit just because we waited maybe 5 minutes longer than the time we reserved in the app! Super friendly! I had been here so many times to do DoorDash but I had a client appointment for my other job in the Central West End the other day and when I got done I was starving so I decided to finally try Shake shack after all this time. when I got in there, I was greeted immediately by a smiling woman, and when she asked me if I was picking up or placing, and I told her for once, I'm actually placing for the first time, she said, "what took you so long" and I didn't give her an honest answer because I didn't want to be rude, but honestly, it was the prices that kept me away for so long. But now that everything is stupid, crazy expensive, I no longer feel the sticker shock. Being greeted right away with warmth that was only a little forced, was quite refreshing after going into most restaurants, and either being ignored, glared at, or otherwise treated like I'm some kind of horrible burden. Most of the time when I walk into a restaurant or store these days I get a keeping dose of ghetto attitude, but here I actually got a slice of the flawless, smiling service that I used to be required to provide when I was on that side of the counter many years ago. What a relief. Part of the reason I don't go out to eat anymore is because I usually get treated like garbage by service industry staff. They do things old-school here and actually make you feel welcome. Of course it was a lot better atmosphere during the day and I'm usually in there in the evening picking up deliveries. It's hard to get a good plate of cheese fries these days, especially if you want the old fashioned crinkle cut kind with the liquid cheese, and that's exactly what they have here! I also ordered the hot dog, which comes plane or with cheese, but it's an all beef hot dog, and they actually grilled it - just a little char on it for the perfect amount of grill flavor without it tasting burnt. A couple years ago paying $10 for cheese fries and a hotdog seemed insane; but nowadays that price is normal so it wasn't offputting. I took the food to go because I wanted to go home and change for my next job. I was hoping to make it home and eat the food at my table, but that didn't happen. The hotdog was really delicious - way better than I expected, and the bun was lightly toasted and tasty - kinda sweet, the taste of a brioche bun. I was starving so at a red light I took a bite, Carla then I got stressed out because of some text messages I received and ended up devouring the entire hot dog before I even got to the grand/forest park intersection. it was absolutely delicious. I could tell it was a high-quality all beef hot dog, even started to split while cooking like the hotdogs My father would grill for us when I was a kid. The hotdog was so good I had to get into the fries, especially since they were perfectly cheese, so that I could carefully remove them from the mound without them getting all over the car, and yet get the perfect amount of cheese. Again, all of the fries got eaten before I was even halfway home. I only wish that they served different sizes of this item, because I paid almost 5 dollars for that little tiny tray of fries and same with the hotdog, and all of that was so good, but I also remember a time when you could get a sack full of McDonald's cheeseburgers for five dollars, and back then the minimum wage was $5.25 so you could buy a lot more with your dollars back then... And that was only 20 years ago. But I think I should be able to shell out $10 and get a plate of cheese fries three times the size of that... I don't need it, but I want it, and it would be fun to share with friends. also, they have a clean bathroom that always has toilet paper and soap and doesn't stink. The entire restaurant is actually remarkably clean. It's well run and well managed. They are doing good work here. I will definitely eat here again, and I would eat here every day if I had the kind of money that people in that neighborhood have... As fast food burgers go this is amazing! Very greasy but thats sort of what you are looking for with a fast food establishment. Their milk shakes are on point too. I got the special Cookies and Cream with a hint of mint. I think I have been converted to a milkshake lover. Had to wait in a little line once we got there. I waited a few months to try Shake Shack because I heard the lines there were insane when they first opened. Also, I do not live anywhere near there so I was waiting until I was in the area. I finally tried it and it was a positive experience overall. I thought it would not be busy at 11:10 am on a Thursday when it was kind of rainy outside, but I was wrong. There was already a lot of people there. Luckily, we got one of the last two tables they had available. We did not have to wait too long for our food, which was nice. I ordered a shack burger and cheese fries. It was on the pricey side ($10 even including tax; and I did not order a drink). The food was good, but probably not a place I would go out of my way to go to again (but like I said I do not live close to there). I would like to add that the workers were very friendly, particularly the woman who took my order. She was by far one of the friendliest restaurant employees I have ever encountered. read more

Amazing I had seen this on the food network and was anxious to try it. Finally one opened in STL. I waited 20 mins in the cold the and about ten more inside. The line was long and moved fast. Quality ingredients no gmo all real suger no pesticides nothing artificial . This is a quality fast casual experience. Better than I expected. A must try. read more

Delicious but pricy burgers. Certainly top notch, but I can't say they remind me at all of Carl's Drive In. If you like a smashed burger that isn't very thin but tastes great, Shake Shack has you covered.
