I've heard so many great things about Shakers and the quality and care they put into their fried conch, so it was perfect timing to find ourselves passing through the neighborhood and finally give them a go. A quick heads-up: they are a takeout-only spot, but what they lack in seating, they more than make up in flavor. We ordered the conch and shrimp combo along with the conch and fish fingers combo, paired with they're special conch rice, collard greens and sweet potatoes, and of course, hubby couldn't resist a slice of their lemon cake. Guys, no photos needed here. Just know it was incredibly delicious fried goodness from start to finish. The greens come almost close to my hubby's...almost and the sweet potatoes screams comfort food at its best. Hubby was being a little greedy with his lemon cake but managed to share a sliver for me and even that was quite moist and nice texture. In fact, if any of my reviews show up without pictures, it's usually because the fingers attached themselves to the fork instead of the phone. The friendly lady at the counter was especially helpful for us first-timers, and the wait wasn't too long considering everything fried is cooked fresh to order. Ordered from here via Uber Eats. Funny enough, as stated in a previous review, as soon as I placed my order, I got the "item out of stock, please choose another item" message. Even though the food wasn't warm by the time it got to me, it was really good. I normally don't like mac & cheese, but I decided to give it a try since they were out of potato salad. Their mac & cheese is yummy. The pork chop was thin, but the flavor was on point. The fish fingers were made from cuts of fish and were so well seasoned. You don't even need a sauce for them they're so good, but the conch sauce for dippin' is a nice for some added flavor. read more

Had a cracked conch craving after watching David's Been Here conch tour in Miami. Ordered the cracked conch with potato salad and mac & cheese. Hubby ordered the same thing with mac & cheese and rice & peas. We also ordered the conch balls which were bready. The pink sauce was good! read more

I hadn't been here in a couple of years and I wanted conch so I stopped in. We ordered 2 chicken wing dinners one with peas and rice, string beans and an extra side of mac and cheese, and one with mac and cheese and collards. A pork chop dinner with peas and rice and mac and cheese. Quarter conch and conch fried rice, lemon cake and 2 flops. First the bad - the pork chops were very salty and tough to chew (I will not order them again) Now for the good. The chicken wings were good, but one dinner had all drums and one had only 1 flat and none of us cares for drums but they were good. All the sides were good, with the exception of the string they were sweet. The conch was good and the conch fried rice was delicious The lemon cake was very good and so was the flops. Food is good! However, when ordering via food delivery apps their menu seems to change daily even though they always sell the same items!! Example: they only sell two choices of rice and one is always out ! If you add and buy items , they'll most like hit you with a "out of stock" AFTER instead of taking it off the menu when they know they ran out!!!! Also when calling there's a female who answers the phone and is RUDE!!!!! I don't like dealing with NOBODY attitude when spending MY money which is actually helping you make YOURS! therefore, I won't be eating from them anymore because the attitude and the huge possibility of having to cancel my order after figuring out what to eat, is not worth it. read more

Just as the name implies, Shaker's is a House of Conch - they sell it all kinds of ways but most famously the fried conch. I've been a patron of Shaker's for the past, oh, 23 years or so - a favorite treat even in childhood. It's a neighborhood place. Looks much the same today as it did way back when. The same menu board and interior furnishings since at least 1990. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Thank goodness they also apply that philosophy to the food! The recipes haven't changed throughout the years and frankly, they have no reason to. The way they've always done it works and works very well. I always get the fried conch when I go to Shaker's. It's lightly breaded tendrils of tender conch, deep-fried to a golden brown but not at all greasy. The exterior packs a great crunch while the conch meat (a notoriously tough seafood if not done right) stays pleasantly chewy on the inside. The seasoning is very simple and it doesn't need to be any more than that. My go-to is a 1/4lb order of conch with fries - grab some ketchup, mustard and lime, sit back, relax and enjoy! There are other menu options available (chicken, fish, shrimp), as well as side dishes like peas & rice, mac & cheese, collard greens and potato salad. This is no dine-in spot - takeout only. Parking can get hectic on the weekends. Service is "succint", not necessarily friendly. But all of that is why folks that know and enjoy Shaker's love it for their CONCH, the real star of the show. I love conch and I love the way Shakers makes it. I always get the fried conch meal with green beans and Mac n Cheese (sooo good). I usually always call ahead and place my order and they have it ready in minutes. I have had the lemon cake and it's your average box cake. I personally have never had an issue with service. I'm always greeted by the worker and they are always polite. Strictly take out and don't forget your tarter sauce. 'Discoveries' like Shaker's is what Yelp's all about. This is a small mom & pop, in an under-trafficked part of the metro (as far as Yelp's concerned) -- creating crazy good grub. But for the website, I never would have found myself in West Little River on a sunny Saturday, eating some of the best fried goodies I've had since moving to Miami. Shaker's a good reminder of the importance of exploring your metro. After a relatively quick trip north on 95, I arrived at Shaker's. It's located in a small strip mall off of a busy street. Slow your roll as you approach because you'll either pass it by or get rear ended by slamming on your brakes. Neither of these are good options. Park, walk inside and then look up. That's the menu board. Take a second to consider your options. Stop. There are no options. This is a conch house. Get the conch! In fact, get the conch dinner with sides of mac & cheese and pigeon peas. While you're at it, get some electric red fruit punch as well. Get a jumbo size. Sit in the chairs next to the windows. Wait. Grab your order. Go to the side of the store and shake out copious amounts of hot sauce and lemon juice on top of your conch. Take small small sips of your fruit punch. It's strong. This fruit punch is not for the newly-initiated. This is for the child of the '80s who was weened on Kool-Aid, Hi-C and Wyler's (maybe throw in some Faygo for good measure). Have a plan in mind for where you're going to eat this goodness because a.) there's no where to eat inside the take-out store and b.) there's no way you're making it home without devouring what you just purchased. read more

I ordered the combo platter which included conch, shrimp and fish for $14. My sides were macaroni & cheese and collard greens with cornbread. The serving portions are large enough for two to share. There is a 15 to 20 minute while they cook the seafood but, it's worth it. To start: this place is Strictly Take out. No dine in available I've been going to Shaker's for a few years now. When I come here it's strictly for the Fried conch and Fries. The conch is always done how I like it. Nicely breaded, not overly done but tender inside. Also If you know me then you know I'm all for the Condiments. Shakers offers Lemon juice, homemade Tartar Sauce (which is LIFE, literally), hot sauce, ketchup, mustard and Remoulade for the conch. I know you're like what so special about Condiments? Well for me I can't eat fried conch without the above listed Condiments so it's major for me that they have all. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is their lemonade, it just taste weird. This is a little take-out spot in Liberty City. I've been getting take out lunch from them for years and I love it! Their fried conch platter overflows with tender pieces of conch and fries. Their combo platter is also a great deal with 4 pieces of fried fish, 4 fried shrimp, fried conch and a side of french fries of vegetables. OK, OK I know....not the healthiest lunch but OH SO GOOD. Besides, I usually split the combo platter with a friend. I wash this all down with a flip flop (aka Arnold Palmer). To start of the food is very overpriced for what it is. They give you canned string beans and the "rice" is very cold, hard, and dry. The pork chop is okay but even though its double portioned, its still overpriced. Why should I have to pay $15.00 for a pork chop that what taste way better elsewhere for way less The selection of food items is the same all the time. They give you Hawaiian Rolls out of a pack. The only sides they offer are String beans, Potatoes Salad, French Fries. The cakes was not fresh and it seems as if it sat out for a few days. I had the fried conch, fried tilapia sandwich, and fried shrimp. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. There was less conch and more batter than I anticipated. The fried tilapia sandwich used regular slices of white bread and the tilapia was bland. The fried shrimp was okay. Overall the portions were relatively small for their price. Wanted something different for my dinner so I went there yesterday about 6.30pm, there were two(2) other people ahead of me waiting and so I asked for receptionist who they said had gone to the back/kitchen. Waited 5 minutes and she had not returned yet. Figured she may also be the cook?? Meanwhile 2 more patrons had came in, so I decided I wasn't going to wait any more so I left. I really wanted to try the food seeing that I'm visiting from the Midwest. I Was disappointed . Can't say the food was great or terrible as I never got to try it. I feel remorseful every time I have conch since it isn't sustainably fished, but sometimes I can't resist. Shaker's is a chain that's dotted through South Florida. They sell a variety of fried seafood. My only source of annoyance for Shaker's is that they don't offer fresh lemon anymore but packets of lemon juice from concentrate. They go straight to the trash for me. The sauce that comes with the conch which is sort of like a remolaude is pretty tasty as well. The food is cheap, fresh and fried to perfection. read more

This place is good for one thing: serving up excellent golden fried conch. That's about it...and don't expect too much in the customer service department. Some call it a hole in the wall, but I call it a small mom and pop type food store, located in a small store front. So where do I start? Anyone that knows me know that I love to travel with my girlfriend/wife of 25 years and we love to eat in new places. We've been to the shakers about a year ago. I've had plenty Conch in my life and I have to tell you there is nothing special here. I have been to plenty mom and pop restaurants where the food was just okay but the service was outstanding and that alone brought me back just to support the smaller shops. I'm an extremely optimistic and positive guy and believe in community support for smaller places. That being said I would not give this place the last penny in my pocket if that's all it took to stop it from going out of business. I came back because my girlfriend/wife was having a conch craving. The food was okay and it was the closest place in the area for a project that we were working on. It does not scare me to come to the hood because good food seems to be the best tasting from what I found traveling throughout the country. The attitude in this place makes me feel as if I did not meet their expectations of what a customer should be. I had to wait for several minutes when I walked in just for someone to show up at the front counter. When she finally appeared from wherever she came from she had an attitude as if I was disturbing her. While she was checking her computer or updating her Facebook status tweeting or whatever she felt she had to do with her eyes instead of look at me it made me feel as if I was doing something wrong. My wife ordered The fried conch and fries and I ordered the rib platter. I was very's quickly told that "we ain't got ribs no mo". As I tried my best to quickly fumble through the menu for a back up selection, she decided it was the best time to be more intensely focused on her computer screen. I asked a few questions about the menu items and she answered very quietly as she focused on her computer. I replied sis you have to speak up a little I could hardly hear you. After rolling her eyes at me to let me know for sure that I was disturbing her, I replied, listen, this food is not cheap and it's tough to make money these days, could you at least respect me enough to look me in the eye as you speak to me! Rolling her eyes even harder she let me know that she does not speak loud and shifted her eyes to the next person in line and asked could she help them, totally ignore me. I wish I was making this up! I'm a strong believer in voting with your money so of course this place does not get reelected by my entire family. Out of town relatives head straight here when they arrive because they can't get conch in any other place than in South FL. What?? Say it isn't so! Well that's what they said but I don't know if it is true. Anyway, the owner is from GA but has been here at her conch shop forever, yes I now this because I ask her questions while I am waiting for my food, yes I'm nosy. The drinks are the usual sugary punch and lemonade made from the bottle stuff but still tasty if you just need a simple drink. The customer service can't be beat and the lemon cake isn't so bad either. The local folks like to order the pork chops, conch & rice and her other dinners but I only order the conch... and when I am craving conch, I always come here. The first time I ate at shakers it was the bomb. I had fried fish fingers and fries. i have ordered their huge order of pigeon peas and rice it was alright, then their conch and fries. so you see I am no stranger at this place. The very next to the last time we ate there we ordered conch (two) orders there was no seasoning on the conch, we ever ordered no seasoning, so we probably got someone else's order, the last time I ate there, we cancelled the order after she swiped our card, and still ended up paying for it. now I got to deal with the bank for them to take it off and try to explain to shakers they kept my money. Never again will I eat here, and their drinks are too sweet. In fact the food is not healthy it is too salty or too sweet. read more
