Located in North…read moreScottsdale, Mesquite shares the same shopping center with several other businesses including Harkins. It's a busy complimentary parking lot, but you'll find a spot. Ambiance (1.5/5): One big problem with my experience. I visited in July which as we all know is very hot in Phoenix. It was quite hot inside. When I checked the thermostat on the wall, it said 80 degrees. What the heck?! Either they're trying to pinch pennies or something was wrong with the A/C. Regardless, no explanation was given. Outside of a toasty restaurant, Mesquite looks like your typical fast casual restaurant. Service (3.5/5): You order at the counter and they prepare your food right then and there. Ordering and paying was a seamless experience. Not terribly friendly but service isn't a big part of the experience. Drinks (3.5/5): I went with one of their fresh lemonades which I'm always about. They also have smoothies, but they're a bit pricey. So I went with the more affordable choice. Outside of that, your typical soft drinks. Food (3/5): I went with a couple of tacos to get a good variety (steak, chicken, and barbacoa). For some meats, including the steak and chicken, you have to pay an upcharge. They have a good number of sauces to choose from including salsas, sour cream, etc. I went with a nice variety here too. Plus some chips and queso. Overall, the food is pretty solid. The meats are mesquite grilled which gives them a bit of a smoky flavor. If you order three or more tacos, you get rice and beans for free. Score! While Mesquite has some kinks to work out, my meal was solid. They have a special Taco Tuesday deal if you're looking for a discount.

The other option was a pulled pork sandwich. I only tried the burger and based on how mediocre/bad it was I'm glad I didn't order any other food. They also offered pomegranate lemonade and as a big fan of all things lemonade I had to try it. I'd give it an 8/10 and the only reason they didn't receive one star. However, the cup was filled to the top with ice and they only filled it up 3/4 Of the way with lemonade. I mentioned to the guy "do you mind filling it up to the top at least". His response was "oh yeah, my bad man" I asked for napkins for the burger and they said they ran out. How does a food truck run out of napkins at 11am on an event that runs til 5pm? Meanwhile one of the workers was yelling at other workers for not moving the lines fast enough. Overall a pretty poor experience. Im Big on food trucks and I wouldn't even consider going back if my meal was free. I'd drink the lemonade and that's about it.

At the International Sportsmen Festival, somebody was hawking a slice of "gourmet" pizza for 6 bucks and somebody else wanted $12 for mac and cheese. It was nice to find some real food and yes $10 for two sliders does appear a bit high, but it includes a cilantro lime cole slaw and two nice sized sliders loaded with their signature crispy cheese and fresh tomatoes. I had these two straight days and both days I feel I got decent value and a nice lunch. Ya know, one of those diamond in the rough kind of places. You can add bacon for $2, but not needed.

Over the past 12 years, we have literally purchased hundreds of Freezes, so we are very familiar with what a standard size 2 portion looks like. Our first visit to the Scottsdale Quarter location was disappointing. The Freeze serving size was noticeably smaller, approximately half of what we've consistently received at other Pressed Juicery locations. At the time, we didn't say anything to the server, but we did feel disappointed considering the price of $18 for two Freezes. We recently visited the Scottsdale Quarter location again on June 27th while shopping in the area, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, we had the same issue. The product did not even reach the rim of the cup, and the portion size again felt significantly smaller and a rip off. This time, I politely brought up the difference in portion size and shared photos as proof of what is consistent across several other Pressed Juicery locations compared to what we received at Scottsdale Quarter. The response I received was dismissive, and with an attitude the employee stated that this was the "correct" portion size. We will not be returning to this location. I would recommend visiting a different location to get a portion size aligned with $8.95 per cup and not served with a bad attitude. I attached photos to show the comparison of all other locations I have visited and then the sad photo of the Scottsdale Quarter location portion.
