I live in Orange County and have been to a bunch of the few existing Shakes Pizzas Parlors around, especially the ones in Santa Ana, and this one by far blows all of them out the water. Place is very nicely kept and modern with plenty of tables. Food was hot and fresh. When something ran out, they brought out another batch quite quickly. The only thing I ever saw out was those little mini cinnamon bites. They offered both deep dish and thin crust pizza. The chicken Alfredo and bbq chicken were tasty. Both fried and marinated chicken was good. Spaghetti noodles weren't dripping wet, spaghetti sauce was think and not watery. Mashed potatoes was thick and not watery like other locations. Overall, my family of 16 had plenty of seating and everyone thoroughly enjoyed lunch. I highly recommend this place and we will return when we are back in the Escondido area. read more

We traveled from Arizona to San Diego and decided to drive another 30 mins to Escondido Ca to eat at a well know childhood restaurant we used to eat at in Tucson, Arizona. My family and I have been here for a while and now have a been a fan of shakey's! This was our third visit here and all with great experiences. We usually get a pepperoni, hawaiian and onion pizza, with some regular pepperoni ones and never have had a bad pizza made. The pizzas are super tasty along with a crunchy crust and nicely cooked toppings. The process is going to and ordering then finding a seat with your number, they will bring you your food! Their beers are picked up at the bar either canned or drafted. They have cheese and peppers at their table and can fit two large pizzas on their stand. The whole restaurant is super huge with a lot of spaces to go sit. There is an arcade room where kids can go play some games. It is not free. This is a decent place for AYCE pizza, salad and dinner items. The price is on point for the quality, cheap. I am not saying that in a bad way. You get as much ok food as you want for a decent price. The best part of the place, They have a cool mini arcade in the back! About 15 or so games that give tickets that you can turn in for prizes. It is like a mini D&B's. I will admit I haven't been to a Shakey's in a hot minute. I was again surprised to see there's only one in the entire San Diego area as there are a bunch all over the LA and Orange County areas. I always love a salad bar so it prompted me to make the drive here. They have a pretty big menu but I decided to go with the lunch buffet to try a bit of everything. It's a casual atmosphere and you seat yourself, tons of seating so you're not fighting for a spot anywhere. It's open and they have music playing that's not too loud. Really good spot for large groups. The buffet options were great, they had several pizzas to choose from as well as garlic bread. The salad bar had so many options to make an amazing salad and everything was well-stocked and fresh. The bar was clean too because you know sometimes people just kind of make a mess especially when there are dressings involved. What actually really stood out to me was the chicken, I think it was grilled and not fried. It was so good! I'm still thinking about it. The mashed potatoes and mojos were really good too, so I guess the carbs won me over this time. Overall a really good deal for what you get, just wish there was one closer! read more

There are two small benches to sit at right outside the front doors, and the doors are pull to enter. Once inside it is all smoothe, flat ground, and wheelchair accessible restrooms. The seating is wheelchair accessible with tons of tables and moveable chairs. Experience: the employees were helpful with answering questions but definitely didn't seem to enjoy being there...lol understandable though because working in a restaurant usually sucks. Finally tried Shakey's! It's a cool restaurant that features pizza, chicken and pasta... plus all the extra goodies you expect at a popular family spot. There is a mini arcade/game room and a bar too! Prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is surprisingly great! Service was good too. Just wish there was someone available to clear used plates off our tables as they do tend to pile up quickly. Especially with a toddler lol. I liked their fried chicken. It was fresh and crispy. I didn't get the impression that it had been sitting for a while or was reheated from the previous day. The salad bar was a good option too! All the fixings were quickly replenished once gone. As for pizza, I tried their bbq chicken. It was flavorful. Didn't get the chance or have the space in my belly to try their dessert but I'll be back for sure to to so. If you're on the fence on debating whether or not to give this place a try, trust me... you'll have to give it a shot. Parking wasn't difficult and the place was clean. I'll be back for sure. Friendly and efficient staff . They attend to your needs as quickly as they can and dont have you waiting for long periods of time. The food was great kids love the pizza there pan crust is the way to go! Salad bar was clean and checked periodically so they were never low on ingredients, i will say a couple pieces of brown lettuce but it wasnt a big deal i just left those to the side. This is the way i recommend to visit Shakey's Food: as always was delicious, at first there wasn't so much of a variety of pizza however when you're doing a bunch of lunch you can request. So I was able to request a barbecue pizza later and the server was extremely nice when I asked for it! They had all the typical all you can eat food, which is my favorite! Price: whether you're with friends, kids, family the price is amazing for what you get. I think this deal is unbeatable! Service: all the workers were extremely nice however there was many dirty tables that people were struggling to find a place to sit. Even when I got up to get more food somebody thought we were leaving. But even that is an easy fix if you ask someone! I looooove Shakey's since it was such a childhood staple for me growing up in LA. I hadn't been to one in years since I'm now in San Diego and I believe the Escondido location is the only one in the county. Just as I remember, the pizza was absolutely delicious. I've always LOVED Shakey's pizza sauce and the recipe seems to be the same from childhood since it tasted the same as I remember. It's sweet, has a beautiful amount of spices and just pairs so well with the crispy crust. I ordered a personal, 7-inch pizza with half cheese, half jalapeño. They're very generous and with the amount of jalapeños they put and the peppers had a nice kick to it! They weren't too weak, which I liked. I also ordered half a basket of mojo potatoes and they're just as good as ever! Beautifully golden, crunchy and overall gratifying. If you've never tried them, you HAVE to try them! It's not a Shakey's experience with them. I came here on a Wednesday evening and it was nearly empty. At some point, I was the only customer there. The cashier who took my order was very sweet and after I completed my meal, another employee offered me a box. The employees here are absolutely wonderful and just added more positivity to my visit The only issue I have with Shakey's is that they don't have more locations! :( read more

Wowerz! We visited cali for our legoland and seaworld trip from Vegas. Mom begged me to drive all the way here, now I understand why. The food is amazing! We have many great pizza and fried chicken back in vegas but this is a must try! Holy golden fried chicken! I should say. We ordered our pizza and wanted it customized a certain way but when they brought it out, it wasn't the way we asked. We found this Shakey's while looking for another restaurant. I grew up with Shakey's. Mojo potatoes were my favorite and I hadn't eaten Shakey's for at least 15 years. The place was clean and we could have eaten inside but we had our little dog with us. Luckily they had a few tables outside. The girl at the register was nice and friendly. I ordered the pizza and mojo potato dinner for 2 and a 2 piece fried chicken just because I wanted the full Shakey's experience. While I was ordering, I asked if they had raw carrots for my dog. Unfortunately, they didn't but they had cucumbers. Another friendly employee gave me a little cup of cucumbers. Even though we were sitting outside, they still brought out a pitcher of ice water. Everything was delivered to our table. The pizza was really good and it was made just the way I wanted it. Their pizza sauce is so good. The fried chicken was served piping hot and fresh. When my husband told me about this lunch buffet special, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to have unlimited salad as I was a huge fan of Souplantation and missed it a lot. And $12.99 for lunch buffet was even cheaper than Souplantation! I started my lunch with a salad I would usually build at Souplantation, spinach (I'm so happy they had spinach and not just romaine lettuce), corn, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, onions, lots of cheese, bacon bits and of course a ton of ranch. I'm a big advocate of getting daily servings of veggies, so I typically get a salad everywhere I go. Some small salads alone cost more than $12.99! I would give my salad 5 stars especially because I built it myself! And the veggies including the spinach was high quality. Second plate was smaller, one leg of fried chicken, one slice of pepperoni pizza and cottage cheese. The fried chicken was delicious! The crisp on the fry was perfect and the meat inside was juicy. They had ketchup at the table so had a little ketchup with it too, which made it even yummier. The pepperoni pizza was freshly made thankfully. The cheese and pepperoni was good, but the sauce was too sweet in my opinion. As a place that is named a Pizza Parlor, I had higher expectations of the pizza. The pizza is the only item that is preventing me from giving the trip 5 stars. They also didn't have much dessert selection in the buffet just strawberry jello which was okay. They upsell ice cream as a separate purchase. If there was ice cream included, I may have given them 5 stars! For the $12.99 price, this lunch buffet is more than worth the money! And during the weekdays it's even a dollar cheaper! Souplantation is a 5 star restaurant but Shakey's is a close second at 4 stars. Very happy tummy after this lunch! read more

The target audience is really sports teams and large birthday parties for older kids. Pizza was okay, salad bar was all canned quality but the mojo potatoes were good. Staff was friendly but the restaurant was severely understaffed. The place was packed but only one cashier? Nobody there at the ticket redemption counter. Why does Shakey's charge 7.99 for unlimited salads when they also charge 4.99 for a single use salad? The plates are the same and the staff don't check. It should be unlimited for 4.99 if you buy food. School Fundraisers: If you're looking to add Shakey's as a school fundraiser you can forget it. While the working staff are competent and friendly the management can't be trusted to host a fundraiser. Expect them to forget that your school is coming. I want to love this place because it could be perfect for a three year old. Friendly staff and food is ok. My complaint is that clerks don't enforce masks in the game room. There are young adults in there without masks on and there are signs saying everyone needs to wear them regardless of vaccination status. The restaurant even offers free masks at the counter. The staff needs to enforce the policy to people in the game room. There are clerks in the game room who doesn't speak up about it to the patrons not wearing masks. Also, not all the games work.
