The food was gawd awful. The shrimp was overcooked and melted in our mouths. The crab was overcooked and was mushy. The sauce was ok, the corn, sausage and potatoes were ok. The hush puppies were good. I was very disappointed with the taste and quality of my food. This was a complete waste of money (minus the hush puppies). I'm not sure if I'll give this restaurant another try. read more

Went here a couple of months ago with my boyfriend and some friends. Food was alright.. I gave it four stars because I didn't like that they didn't offer many options. Personally I like chasing tails better but the food we did get was good. The service was excellent. I absolutely love this place. From October to February I was literally coming here twice a month. They are amazing, good prices and a good portion size! Definitely my go to when I want seafood. Compared to Chasin' Tails they are WAY better. Hot & Juicy is also great, but Shakin Crab is just great & affordable! Love them. read more

I'd been dying to try Shakin Crab since I heard they opened. I recently got a 10% off coupon in my mail and my fiancé and I decided to go with his family. I love me some seafood, but rarely eat it because 1. Chain restaurants aren't real seafood 2. My family owned a seafood restaurant in colonial beach for 70 years, so I have a high standard We started out with an order of hush puppies and omg they were delicious. They had whole kernels of corn and came with melted butter. I could eat those by the dozen all night long. My fiancé and I shared a plate of raw oysters. They weren't the freshest (a little chewy), but they weren't bad. I got a soft shell crab basket. I have fond memories of my child hood eating soft shell crabs at my uncles when the crabs molted their shells. He'd pan fry them and serve them on a potato roll with lettuce and tomato; so simple but so delicious. Sadly, this didn't live up to my childhood. The soft shell crabs were tiny and overly breaded, or maybe even battered, and greasy. The breading desperately needed more seasoning. After all, this is a crab place, load it up with old bay!!! My fiancé got a oyster basket, and said his oysters tasted fishy, not fresh. The Cajun fries in the basket were good, but again needed more old bay. Overall, I might come back for their steamed dishes, but they definitely have kinks to workout, starting with going heavy with seasoning. I also think it'd be good for them to incorporate sandwiches and po'boys to their menu. I was so excited to try this new place out, and left disappointed. read more

I've always loved Shakin' Crab, so I was excited to find that there was one located nearby in Manassas! We were craving some shrimp so decided to give this location a try. We were happy to find that this place was just as good as we expected from Shakin' Crab. Our food came out pretty quickly, and it came out steaming and fresh. The amount of food you receive is worth the money you pay. I loved that they gave me more shrimp when I removed sausage from my meal. The Shakin Sauce is delicious- very flavorful. Price was reasonable. Definitely will be going back. read more

This place was amazing! I thought it was all you can eat crabs none the less, I got the mussels and crab leg bucket! The mussels are HUGE. Hear me whn I say the mussels are huge! And delicious! We ordered BBQ wings and they came out with no sauce! The bag we ordered did not come out with the sausage and we had to wait another 20 minutes for the order! Along with that they are trying to sell us on 1 small cluster of crabs is 1/2 pound because they are supposed to be premium. Don't waste your time or money! read more

Stopped in on a wim and it was so worth it the seafood was fresh and hot. We had the catfish meal with fries and the soft shell crabs and shrimp meal. It was pretty good. The restaurant was very clean lots of seating and tables. They also have a wall you can write on if you like. Great place to try. read more

Great service, plentiful food at a reasonable price and great prices on cold draught beer. We enjoyed a couple of baskets, shrimp and oysters with fries, onion rings and hush puppies after an appetizer of "Cajun" wings. Breading was light and not overly greasy ... pretty good. One note for improvement is that Cajun seasoning didn't have much heat ... flavorful, but not spicy by any standard. read more

I came there soon after the place opened, and there weren't many people in, so the service was highly attentive and quick. But upon return trips, I found the service to be just as delightful. I love shrimp and the shrimp basket was excellent. What really caught me was the smoked sausage - be careful that you go in with a big appetite, for if you leave hungry, it's your own fault!! Just checked out the new seafood restaurant in Manassas, though it is a little pricey, the quality of the seafood you get is outstanding. Our server Jade answered all over questions and had a pleasing personality. People are very friendly and walked into the restaurant. Don't want to come down to harden new place,, but if you're going to have a seafood restaurant, where this is that your food I friends, better have some handiwipes available. Didn't have those. So I'm going to the small things and count in life, why they bought $.75 forks that were designed for a four-year-old to be served with her Cajun fried rice is beyond my imagination I would highly recommend the owner of this restaurant to go out and get a full-sized fork for an adult. Give this place a dry I'm sure you'll find it to your liking. I would rate this restaurant higher, but that fork deal, just took him down to one star back they didn't have any other appetizers, salads would be a nice accoutrement to a meal of this price range. Went for dinner last night. It wasn't bad but I don't know if I would go again. I had the fried catfish and hush puppies. The catfish was a little too greasy but I LOVED the hush puppies. My son had the snow crab legs that he enjoyed. They were a little over cooked so they were not the easiest to crack open. My husband had the buffalo chicken wings and fries. Ok at best. Very pricey compared to the serving sizes you get at Blue Ridge or other seafood restaurants in the area. $42 for a dozen mediums and $60 for a dozen large crabs. At this price, they provide one third of an ear of corn period. No hush puppies or other sides unless you order and pay extra. Charging for his puppies seems excessive after 60 crabs. Food was served quickly in a plastic bag that you get to dump onto your plate. As far as taste it's OK but nothing special. The restaurant itself is made to look like it's a shack with unfinished wood that they have allowed customers to write on the walls. Really doesn't work and comes off as more of a high school theater set than the seafood dive it's aiming to be. Overall, very unimpressed and with many other options in the area we won't be back. read more

I am a frequent customer here at Shakin Crab and to be thoroughly honest i enjoy the food more than most seafood places. However, my 2 stars comes not from the lack of food quality, but the lack of management quality. I have become accustomed to quite a few waitresses here and they are absolute dolls and provide the quintessential waiting experience but they do not seem to be treated as such. The manager will yell at them and defame them over the slightest of mistakes and that is unfit for a professional environment. These girls work their tails off for hours on end, exhausting themselves for the customers, only to be treated as if they had just caused a HUGE mistake. Please look into this as I would like to give your restaurant a 5 stars, but as you see I cannot read more

This little place is still very new, and I will return to update my review later. For now, I'll say that the fried oysters were very fresh and lightly breaded/fried, so 5 stars on that. The iced tea was also fresh, and they have both sweetened and unsweetened, which is always good. I think the sweet potato fries were very average and problem started from frozen. There are only a handful of sides on offer, so I'd expect them all to be freshly homemade--and would much prefer a thick-cut sweet potato fry in any case. The main issue with the sides is that they offer no green vegetables--at all. No salad, coleslaw, green beans, nothin'. People need a green vegetable, and adding a nice salad or two is going to be necessary to accomdoate groups that include a vegetarian (like me except for my one exception which is oysters). read more

Not really impressed. Limited menu, such as no poboys (how can you not have poboys at a cajun joint?) Boiled seafood is a little on the pricey side and you cannot order less than 1 pound. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but service was pretty slow. No condiments on the table. If you want ketchup, they bring you a little cup. Drink refills require a new paper cup. Both of these seem pretty wasteful. As someone else mentioned, no salt or pepper on the table. We had fried baskets, which were reasonably priced and came with a decent amount of food. The breading was tempura style and flakes of the food when to bite into it. The fried shrimp was okay. Fried catfish was ok, but one piece tasted very fishy (old?) Onion rings and fries were nothing special. Hush puppies seems slightly undercooked. Side order of sausage was the highlight. Except for being a bit oily, it was great. All in all, may go back and try a boiled/steamed entree, but there are better local options. read more

Came here to get crab legs and did not leave disappointed. Got crab legs in the shakin sauce. Holy moly. I've never had crab legs cooked in a sauce like that but it was pretty life changing. Others at the table got the fried shrimp basket with onion rings which was delicious as well. Their batter for fried items is awesome. Hush puppies were really good also. So... probably he best snow crab legs I've ever had. Seriously, I've never had crab legs covered in sauce. I had the Shaken sauce which included the Cajun, lemon butter and garlic butter all mixed at the 'spicy' heat. It wasn't an overwhelming level of spiciness either. Definitely recommend!! read more

So we went for a second time and they're still suffering growing pains. Bar isn't open and no appetizers to speak of, but hopefully they'll tune the place up. The one thing they do have is a great kitchen. The entrees were excellent both times we've visited. The waitress mentioned they have a dessert, but it isn't on the menu yet. Shakin Crab is a fun little place to get your seafood fix. It reminds me of seafood shacks in New England. The seafood is delicious and it is in casual environment with paper on the tables, bibs, and writing on the walls from their patrons. Some of the beat seafood I've probably ever had!! The calamari was delicate and fresh, the soft shell crab was flavorful and perfectly fried. We also tried the garlic butter sausage and it was fantastic! Lots of seasoning and tons of flavor. I will be back and will definitely tell others as well!!! read more
