Nothing better than some beer, fries and SEAFOOD. Had a major crawfish craving recently so had to fulfill. Went to this spot which on the outside reminds me of a restaurant in Jurassic Park if universal or something. So interesting. In the inside you feel like you're in the krusty krab of spongebob. Let me start by saying I am somewhat of a crawfish aficionado. I LOVE this place's special shaking (all the sauces mixed) sauce. It's so garlicky and well flavored. Their crawfish are always decent sized and their food is always served fresh and hot (I always burn my hands trying to get in the bag). First, the decor is very kitschy verging on tacky. Think Red Lobster from the 80's with a hint of 80's drug use. Seating is hard and flat. Our table wobbled a good bit as well. Fish tanks with no obvious live fish in them. Our server was very sweet but just seemed clueless and poorly trained. Food arrived and my mixed fried lunch was in a paper box. The fried calamari was rubbery and very greasy. Fried fish was also greasy but tasted fine other than being very bland. Guessing tilapia. Fired chicken strips were over cooked and chewy. French fries needed a few more minutes in the fryer. Raw potato taste. Dipping sauce was unremarkable. My companion had the crawfish roll, which he said was okay but it was tiny. He also ordered the gumbo. 1/2 in of oil floating on the top. Weird sausage bits. Very watery under the grease. He didn't even try a bite. We both upgraded to the clam chowder. It was actually pretty tasty. But they give you a micro sized plastic spoon to eat it. I finally just drank straight from the styrofoam cup. Once we tried to check out the sweet clueless girl could not figure out the tablet. Then someone higher ranking tried. This comedy of errors went on for 15 minutes. They finally figured it out. I won't return. Should have noticed that only two other tables the entire time we were in there. As we were leaving a woman pulled up and got out. I truly wanted to warn her to run away. Truth be told, I was so excited to see this in Atlanta, and I became even more excited after a UYE here where DB told me that the recipes were from the infamous Boiling Crab out west in California. Unfortunately there was already a registered Boiling Crab in Atlanta that was not part of the west coast franchise and so the name Boiling Crawfish had to do. My sister and I decided to split the following: -2 lbs of snow crab -corn on the cob (3) -1 cajun fries The menu lists shrimp, clams, mussels, king crab (MKP), and dungeness crab (MKP) along with crawfish. There are two columns, one for sauces and the other for spiciness level. We decided to go with the "errthing" sauce and the mild spice level. The seafood comes exactly like it is at the Boiling Crab establishments in California, hot and steaming in a plastic bag. Now admittedly, I'm leaning away from this because there are definitely some compounds emitted from exposing plastic (and I'm sure this is cheap plastic too) to hot temperatures. However, we were already here so might as well make the most of it and eat me some carcinogens! -------- Snow Crab: served "errthing and mild spice" PROS -hot and piping out of the bag -came with a metal plate which we could dump everything out and let it cool CONS -ridiculously salty: I'm not just talking about the sauce because at one point, my sister and I stopped dipping the cracked crab meat into the sauce. This crab tasted like it was frozen, boiled, and then dipped in salt. Terrible to eat and also those who have bad hypertension. -not entirely fresh. There were certain legs where the meat stuck to the shell when we tried to crack it open. -------- Corn on the Cob PROS -it's corn. hahaha. Not everyone likes corn, but it comes in the same bag as the seafood so if you want plain corn this isn't it. But it gives you some "vegetable" to fool you into thinking that you're massively healthy. CONS - pretty much no flavor whatsoever: corn was overboiled and was just like eating fiber. --------- Cajun Fries PROS -fantastic quantity. We were scarfing these down because they were the only things that didn't have a crazy amount of salt, and we still had plenty of fries left over. CONS -no even dispersement of the cajun seasoning that was sprinkled on top. It was kind of like a middle sprinkle last minute of cajun powder. Would I come here again? Probably not. Not unless there was some type of event like a friend's birthday and they absolutely had to come eat here. It is probably better to do your own crab and seasonings at home truthfully. I do have to say, their promo for buy 5 lbs (of crawfish) get 1 free is pretty enticing for those who have the patience to sit and shell it for goodness knows how long. Hey man, I know this is a harsh review, but I gotta keep it real and straight up. Is it good for cajun seafood in ATL? Oh yea for sure. Unless you plan on cooking it yourself, this is probably the best place to go. However, the star ratings say "meh I've experienced better" and I definitely have experienced way better seafood, especially if you're supposed to be a "Boiling Crab" affiliation. Long overdue review. I've been to this place several times and the first time, I thought their food was great. But after trying out other places that serve cajun seafood, they fell a little flat. Service is okay, nothing to complain about. But food is less flavorful. I think they overcook the crab legs as well. But I would still come back if I just need a quick fix of cajun seafood and not want to travel all the way to Duluth. read more

Pros: DEFINITELY go for the raw oyster selection, calamari, and sweet potato fries. Service was good. Cons: pretty much everything else. They are deserving of their name because they just literally "boil" your entire order in water (including the crayfish/crawfish) and toss it in a bag of flavoring when you order. The spices don't penetrate thru so the only option for flavor is to dip the meat into the bag of sauce or suck on the shells. Because your order is boiled all together, some items, like corn and shrimp, is grossly overcooked. If they took a little more care and understood different cook times for each item, it would be a decent place. If they actually cooked crawfish correctly, they'd be a good place. Obviously, I will not be returning so my $10 off coupon is a lost cause. Spent over $100 to try a bunch of their menu items. Such a poor waste of money. read more

Their foods are good but services are below par, the last time I was there, which was in Feb 2018. They were new and the waiters just were not efficient, took a long time to bring us water and take our order. This place is unique. They served their food on plastic bags (sic). The atmosphere was good, the menu is simple while the crawfish, shrimps and crabs just okay. Those crustaceans served with choices of different tastes. You'll need to eat with your hands, plastic gloves and bibs provided. Quite messy but okay. I've lived in Atlanta for about 2 years and have visited this 7-8 times. I actually have refused to go anywhere else because Shakin' Crawfish was the first Asian spiced crawfish joint that I found to be consistently good. They've also trapped me with their free 1lb crawfish special from Yelp check-ins, lulz. We've mostly always gotten the combo for $24, and a free lb of crawfish on top. It's very filling and can definitely serve 2 people. Their Poseidon's combo is too diverse and the crab shells isn't well worth it. We've also had a variety of their fried goods, all were decent. read more
