10/10 got to go. Highly recommend, this is simply the best sandwhich I have ever had. Their menu is huge and you can combine meats which is a very cool touch. Service was awesome, another grab and go spot. Obviously with it being New York City, there is no place to sit so I recommend going to Times Square and finding a spot there. WOW!! This hidden gem, and its so small feels hidden, is so good. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The owner is so nice and accommodating to tourist. We split the Italian Hero and it was definitely enough for two people. The ingredients are so fresh and plentiful and the prices are amazing!! There isn't a place to sit because it's so small but there is street seating nearby on Times Square read more

I missed this place!! Before COVID I was coming all the time and it's still incredible. Most affordable spot in all of Midtown and the best sandwich. Great Italian with spicy peppers and great chicken salad - nice and shredded, not the BS cubes you see at delis. The food was ready and prepared exactly as agreed, with impeccable service provided with courtesy and care. The sandwiches were outstanding. The owner was very kind... If you've ever looked for a hole-in-the-wall joint and found it, it's not a hole-in-the-wall. This place is the absolute definition of the genre. You walk down the street and take a look down at your phone to check where Shama's Deli is, and you've likely already walked right past it. No frills deli with two guys behind the counter, prepping cold cut sandwiches in lockstep. Don't be surprised if a line forms longer than the storefront; service is quick here, and with a smile. I really like Shama's deli. I stop in most mornings on way to work. Small, no-frills shop but his BLT is excellent...he won't tell me the supplier but the bacon is def smokier and more flavorful than what you'll get at most of the midtown 'regular' delis. Great people and food. A real read more

By far the best customer service we had during our trip to New York. The owner was so welcoming and made sure to take care of us. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and 2 BLTs. Best sandwiches we've ever had and he even told our teenage sons to grab some cookies at no charge. Even threw in a coffee and muffin on the house. My family lives by a few rules when traveling. One is "always trust in Yelp" and it has rarely steered us wrong. Such was the case this morning looking for a good breakfast sandwich on a hard roll. We read the reviews and targeted Shamas for our morning meal. We can continue to live by the Yelp rule as our experience was enjoyable. The banter was great as were the sandwiches. We were encouraged by the management team to return for the pastrami roll and our daughter chose not to wait for lunch to try it. It was fantastic! Stop in for a quick meal and don't worry about how many other delis you pass to get there. Kudos! read more

This spot is definitely a hole in the wall, if you're not careful, you'll miss it. My first order was a turkey and cheese wrap. And after reading more reviews, I went back the next day for the pastrami hero!!! DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely be a regular now that I know about this place!!! Little hole in the wall spot hit the mark for an authentic NYC deli sandwich shop. My man behind the counter gave 100% authentic New York service. He was straight to the point, no BS, and worked some magic on my order. And best of all, the food. Would've liked a bit softer bread but besides that, the Italian was by far one of the best subs I've ever had. Sandwich was piled with fresh ingredients and so much flavor. The display cases are beautiful and feature so many different kinds of cream cheese. (Who knew you could make a whole vat of Biscoff?) They also had many types of smoked fish and toppings for customers filing through. Once you order food, you take your ticket to the register where you can add any drinks. This also went fairly quickly. Food and drink order numbers were called out and checked with the receipts, although they called out a set of orders for several minutes and no one came to pick them up. There are a few tables there, but since customers wait to grab drinks and food near the front, the couple tables at the front were basically for crowd control. I definitely wouldn't try to eat there unless I happened to be going at a quieter time. I got the bagel with smoked salmon, and it was exactly what I had been craving. Their bagels are a quarter pound each, so you might even get two meals out of it if you have a fridge for storage. But even as good as the bagel was, the hot chai latte with oat milk was the star for me. It was so incredibly layered for flavor and fragrant, just lightly sweet. I would go out of my way on a trip to NYC just to get one of these for breakfast! We all really enjoyed our food, and I will definitely return.

The line was halfway down the block at 11:30pm on a weekday! It went fairly fast and I got my food within twenty minutes. Slight discount if you pay cash. -------------------- *well, technically four blocks down.

The slices were very dry; the crust was dry and the cheese was dry (not gooey at all) even though the slices were fresh out of the oven. *Burrata Slice: Very simple. A cheese slice topped with a scoop of burrata. Decent, but not memorable. I would skip this in the future. *Fig Jam & Bacon Slice: My favorite of the two slices I tried. The combination of fig jam and salty bacon was unique and worked really well together. *Pistachio Soft Serve: Very nutty in the first few bites before mellowing into a smooth, creamy soft serve, lacking in flavor other than from the overpowering salt flakes sprinkled on top. It's a good option if you like soft serve that's very creamy and not sweet, but I would recommend skipping the salt. It was basically the only thing I could taste. *Carrot Cake: Decent. It was very fresh, but a bit flavorless. The service was the standout. For a place that is so viral and consistently busy, everyone was incredibly friendly and patient, especially the woman working the register. I visited around 11 a.m. on a weekday, and the line was either nonexistent or very short during the 45 minutes I was there. There are several standing areas in the small restaurant where you can eat.

Never had one that tasted like that. It had lemon zest on it and I think might have been made with semolina or cornmeal. It was a cross between light /fluffy and dense. Simply perfect! I must say I was completely delighted with my food. Sitting at the counter was great because you can see the food actually being prepared. My neighbors were a party of 3. They ordered several items including the pancake. They seemed to be enjoying their meals. Bathroom was single use and fairly clean. Service was great. Food was hot, delish and priced appropriately.
