I ordered something that was listed as $11.95 on the menu, but when I went to pay, the cashier tried to charge me $12.95. I pointed it out, and he removed it, but then added it back as $12.43, which still didn't make sense. When I asked about it, he said it was tax and that everything is taxed. But after I paid, I realized I was charged tax on the item and again on the total. When I brought that up, he switched and said it was actually a card fee. There was no sign anywhere about a card fee. When I argued back, the cashier kept arguing and said that if I paid with a card, I should know there is a fee which is not true as the fee does not always fall on the customer. Overall just frustrating and illegal as in NY state, you must indicate if extra fees are going to be charged. Wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I never thought I would have to write a bad review for this place because I've been there at least 75 times over years, and spent thousands of dollars in there. But this morning both the cashier and the cook on duty overcharged me, even AFTER I pointed out the prices they have posted on their own menu board above the ordering area. It's one thing to make an honest mistake. This was intentional overcharging. I ordered a BREAKFAST WRAP and was charged $10.99. When I questioned the charge, they said "oh no, you have to pay $1 extra for a wrap and another $1 extra for cheese." Huh? The price clearly says $6.99 for a breakfast WRAP. Since when does a breakfast wrap not include a wrap?! The wrap I ordered, Monterey Omelette, says it has cheese, right in the description they have posted. They STILL argued with me. I was very nice to them. Eventually the cashier reversed the charge and lowered it to $8.99 and pointed to the BREAKFAST PLATTER sign. I said OK, if you are going to charge me for a PLATTER, can I get the home fries and toast like it says? They said no because the wrap and cheese costs extra. I gave up. But I told them they lost a good and steady customer. I have ordered the same items there for years without any problems. I know how much the items cost, and they prices are clearly posted. I hope the owner of this place sees this post. Ridiculous nonsense. Funny because before all this happened I was thinking to myself about how much I liked the place. They have good quality and fresh ingredients, and the place is clean inside. PS to top it off, when I got home I realized that the breakfast wrap they gave me was NOT a Monterey Omelette like I ordered. They gave me a ham and veggie wrap. WTAF read more

Hell's Kitchen Deli has been a reliable breakfast spot for me. The egg and sausage on a roll is fast, decent, and a good value, and they've been consistently solid over multiple visits. My only small wish is that they offered more unsweetened iced tea options. read more

Husband and I are staying around the corner, working from our hotel room and we both needed a quick easy lunch. We picked Hell's Kitchen Deli bc it looked quick and easy. I ordered two cold sandwiches (one turkey club and one pastrami) and we are currently in our room devouring them. They are simple and delicious and reasonably priced and will fuel our afternoon around town before heading to MSG tonight. Large NA drink selection. Came here late last night and got wings, mozzarella sticks and a monte cristo sandwich. I guess I was feeling a little nostalgic for Bennigan's. The sandwiches are premade and displayed in the deli case along with assorted lunch meats, cheeses, and pretty much everything that isn't a beverage that is sold from the deli. So I could clearly see that the the sandwich wasn't dipped in funnel cake batter, deep fried, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I knew that. But still, it was tasteless. I appreciated that it's pressed and heated in an oven. Usually toasting things brings out the flavor. This was just "hot nothing." If that can be a flavor then that's the flavor. I didn't even eat half. "So why the 4 stars if you're giving a scathing review?"because I ordered more food just for such a case as this. And I'm glad I did. The wings, alone carry this review. Hot wings but breaded, not sauced. The flavor was more than just pepper sauce. They really seasoned their flour AND the chicken. 2AM inebriated me really appreciated that. The mozzarella sticks are standard fare. I'll be back for late night wings. read more

While vacationing in New York, there were times I wasn't up to going to a restaurant, and this deli turned out to be a good substitute, where you can order salads with a variety of food choices and ingredients. There were also some meat dishes too, but I wasn't up to choosing those then. I made use of this deli a few times during my trip, and would recommend it for anyone in the near neighbourhood looking for a change in pace. read more

Hell's Kitchen Deli is a clean little spot with mostly food and a few grocery items. We stopped in for a 6 pack of beer, and there was a pretty large selection of domestic choices. Very dishonest place. Be very careful, they bait and switch. Their products are priced one thing on the store display and then the price is increased at the register. They often put tags on the products that belong to different items. When I caught and confronted the employees about this, they refused to even listen to them and were extremely dismissive and conniving in behavior. They quickly ripped off the sticker on the display and tried to gaslight me into believing it was never there. When i asked to speak to the manager about this, he demonstrated disgusting leadership and a disturbing lack of humanity. He feigned understanding and claimed he would reverse the charge, and then instead charged me for the items twice. This store is filled with despicable dishonest humans. Double check the price of everything or go support a business of respect. read more

Price Gouging during Corona.... Stopped in for an early morning, Bacon Egg and cheese, as I was passing by on 9th Avenue. Going to pick up the troops at Javitz. Staff was polite and friendly, that gets you a star. Cleanliness gets you the other.. Being open, gets you another. Asked for my roll toasted, so it wasn't soft, Not! Bacon was old and scarce. Menu board $3.75 for a Bacon, Egg & Cheese. Grabbed a small, 8 oz coffee and sandwich, charged $6.53. I get the corner delis are about the only place open. If your gonna post a nice, illuminated menu... Hold to the prices posted or otherwise close. read more

Completely surprised by this hole in the wall establishment. They absolutely crush it for deli and salads. They also have some hot entrees that looked great. You can make your own salad where they put what you want in the salad and even chop it up more if you want. Excellent customer service too. Wide selection of drinks too. If you poke your head in it looks like a small convenience store but as soon as you walk in you'll see how great it is for any meal. They also serve breakfast sandwiches 24 hrs/day and great quality. Let me tell you a story... my friends and I are walking home from the bars after close and we stop at not one, not two, but THREE different gyro stands only to find that they were ALL out of falafel. As someone who doesn't eat meat, I was traumatized. But then we saw the light of the Hell's Kitchen Deli still on... inviting us in to have a look. When I tell you this was a cornucopia of food in the dead of night I am NOT kidding. The chef in the back threw falafel, burgers, fries, wings, etc. on the grill and into the fryer for me and our crew and rescued us from our hangry stomachs. Sandwich was pretty good, but when I went to check out it was a dollar more than it said on the menu board behind the counter. When I questioned it the employee laughed and tapped a hand written sign below eye level at the register that said all deli prices would be increased by one dollar. It's pretty shifty not to have that on the big board, and inconsiderate to laugh about it when questioned. He even said everyone gets mad at that, and giggled like it was funny. 4 stars for the sandwich, minus 1 for the feeling of being taken advantage of. read more
