She did it no charge. They seem to know they diamonds, gold and pearls. They do a good job resetting and I bet sell nice diamond engagement rings from what I saw. The friendliest family run jewelry store. As I waited to be helped I noticed they had relationships with all of their customers. They treated everyone as a friend. I showed them my son's broken chain and he took it to the back for what I assumed would be an estimate. He came back 2 minutes later with the chain fixed. I asked him how much he smiled broadly and said "no charge". I was shocked and told him "no I need to pay you something". He smiled again and shook my hand and said it was nothing. This is the only place in Northern Virginia you should ever buy jewelry from. I started shopping for an engagement ring, and instantly got overwhelmed by all of the options, styles, and choices. The only thing I knew was that I wanted lab grown diamonds. I went to half a dozen jewelers in the area, almost all of whom told me they didn't want to work with lab stones, or were otherwise pushy to get me to buy natural. They also wouldn't spend the time with me to help pick out the style of the ring. Then I walked into Shammas. Christine did not try to push me one way or the other and patiently explained the pros and cons of every little detail of the ring. She offered me honest advice and feedback at every step of the process. Not only that, but she alleviated almost all of my anxiety from purchasing the ring -- other than when I actually propose, that one's on me. Working with her was the only pleasant experience I had during my ring shopping, and I think what we ultimately picked is perfect. This is the only store anyone in Northern Virginia should go to. The gemstone in an inherited ring broke when they were adjusting the prongs then tried to cover the mistake. When asked about the issue, they said there was no issue with the stone that was clearly broken and not sitting correctly in the ring. Suggest avoiding them. read more

Shammas Jewelers has a customer for life in my family! I brought my 10 yr old platinum wedding ring & band in bc my side diamonds started to fall out of the setting. (The jeweler I previously went to had retired & I was dragging my feet on fixing my ring for fear of not knowing who to trust, who would be honest, do quality work, not overcharge or try to upsell me etc. After talking with neighbors and friends, Shammas Jewelers was recommended over and over and now I see why. First they popped the diamonds back into my band but informed me this would likely happen again as the band had been soddered previously. Sure enough, under their telescope I could see it too but I took the risk again. And after the 2nd time of diamonds falling out we started talking about options moving fwd .....we decided to get a new setting (that looked identical to mine) and start fresh/ not worry about the diamonds falling out again. Best decision. Additionally the idea was floated to give me the original diamonds back from my old bands and set them into a "eternity band" (bc I had expressed my hesitation to get a new band bc my diamonds are sentimental) Genius!!!! They made a custom setting and set each one of my slightly varying in size ORIGINAL diamonds into a STUNNING eternity band!!!! Now I have the best of both worlds! A sturdy new setting AND all my sentimental diamonds set in a GORGEOUS eternity band I'm blown away by our experience and only wish I had gone to them sooner! read more

How rude! Went in today to inquire about purchasing a ring snuggie as my engagement ring is just a little too big, but not enough to have resized. Stopped by the store as I was in the shopping center for other errands last Friday. A pin had fallen out of my Citizen watch band of my Blue Angel watch my son in law gave me when he flew with them. My intent was to leave the watch if they could repair. They immediately took the watch in and asked if I could wait a minute or two. I came here for two issues: to glue a pearl earring back onto its post and to fix a loose diamond in my engagement ring. The man who helped me checked all the diamonds in my ring and found that multiple were loose and proceeded to fix them all. Then he examined my earring and told me the post I had was too small to support the pearl, so he got a larger post and fixed it as well. I took a few watches here to have the batteries changed and a necklace I needed repaired. They were very fast and did the watches immediately, and the necklace was ready to be picked up the next day, but I went out of town and got it when I returned. I have to note that another shop I called had a three week turnaround on repairs, so I was very pleased to have my necklace back so quickly. Later the same day, I noticed that one of the watches had condensation on the inside, so I took it back in when I went to get the necklace, and they cleaned it up. A few hours later, I realized it wasn't working. They were closed for the weekend, so I went back yesterday. I was a little worried when the jeweler said it may just be the watch. He looked at it through the microscope and let me look, too, after he changed the battery again to assure me that it was working. He tested the original battery, and it was fine. Anyway, it's been a day, and the watch is keeping time. I don't know why it wasn't working before, but that doesn't really matter. I think this shop is trustworthy. I would not recommend using this jeweler for any repairs unless your willing to wait a loooonng time to get your items back. They did decent work for a fair price but never bothered to call me as promised to tell me if my watch needed a new part or not. When I dropped it off, I had told them to go ahead and order it if needed, but just to let me know. When I called them to check on the status 10 days later, they did not bother to return my calls (two separate calls). A day or two later I called again -- took them about 15 minutes to find my items, which was a little scary, then said they had not yet ordered the part. Okaaay, so why not, I'm thinking? I had already given them the go ahead. They had had my watch and necklace for repair for two weeks by now. So they told me I would have to wait another two weeks for them to get the watch part in and promised to call me when all the work was done. Of course, you guessed it, they never called me to let me know when it was done so I had to call them AGAIN, and.... well you get the picture. The woman on the phone said they were "short staffed". When I was finally able to pick up my items, I see three employees who are obviously from the same family standing around chatting doing nothing, with no one in the store. I guess that explains why they're SO BUSY they don't have time to communicate with their customers. Very dissapointed, would not recommend them unless you have alot of free time on your hands and enjoy leaving phone messages that never get answered, will not be using them again. read more
