Zero and negative stars. Jan left a very unsafe work site. He took zero responsibility for causing me to trip on a sting line they left up for months while weather delayed the work. This negligence caused me to trip over a string line that was left up for no reason for months. This negligence caused me to trip and FRACTURE MY ARM, DAMAGE MY KNEE, and I have zero feeling in my thumb now. Ive lost work, sleep, certifications that I rely on for my livelihood. ​MAJOR MAJOR ISSUES. Jan ​ took zero responsibility for this negligence. He wanted to quiet me down by offering me 2k after he charged me 30k for concrete work that he never did. I could go on and on..and I have not written this review till now on purpose as its been a real struggle to deal with the damage done to my body, mind and spirit. Jan....when u read this. I hope your slimy business practices keep you awake at night. You owe me 30k!! About 15k for physical therapy. 25k for the work I lost due to your negligence. And ur bullsh!t offer to pay me 2k to shut me up...I denied that as my word of mouth is worth more than that. You are not to be trusted. Update to my previous review it won't let me remove or edit: Jan's wife called me after seeing my review and they finally came out to see what my complaints were. Travertine that had big holes were replaced. The cement deck apparently cracked so much because the cement company had inadequate mix. Jan replaced the cement deck using a different supplier and so far no cracks. He replaced the entire pool surface with new fiberglass from a machine this time. So he made good on our complaints. The only complaint I still have is the time it took to complete. From May 21 2025 to August 4th they were here only 13 days total. I realize they were squeezing us in their schedule, but took them 2 months the first time too. If you're very patient and have good cement suppliers Jan will get the job done. read more

We had our cement pool's surface re-fiberglassed by Shamrock. About a year later, we noticed a powdery substance accumulating on the bottom, which we suspected might be the gelcoat disintegrating. Jan and his team returned to the pool under the full warranty. They sanded down the entire pool and applied a new coating using a different, new process. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We had our 35 year old fiberglass pool resurfaced 2023. New coping, cement deck redone. VERY expensive, but Jan assured us it would all turn out fabulous. We paid top dollar, we assume they used very sub par materials for the look of everything now. Travertine coping has large holes that were filled with something that is now coming out. We paid for stamped concrete and agreed to just brushed, there are MANY big cracks, not hairline and the color faded, the cement is chalky. It hasn't even been two years yet. Jan suggested an overlay, at first he said at no more cost to us now he wants to charge another $6000! They also blew out the solar heating lines when doing a pressure test, he did end up paying for that after many requests. The main drain has zero suction the pool light doesn't work at all since they replaced it and they cut the cord so short it can't come to the surface. The pool itself looked great at first, but now that we are swimming the feel is not that of smooth fiberglass, it feels like a cement type surface. The non slip for the steps and seat are extremely rough on skin and suits, it feels very course as apparently they used sand which continues to flake off. There are marks and scratches and discoloration on the bottom and sides of the pool. Each time I take in my water to be tested it comes out perfectly balanced so the water isn't the problem. Jan just said to buy a stain fighting product instead of figure out what is going on with it. No answers as to why it feels so rough. Now it has tiny bubbles in the surface. Sent him a text Oct. 2024 asking about what kind of coating was used and nothing, no responses at all. Very disappointed for the amount $$$$$ of money spent. Not even two years later he's defending and embellishing everything after seeing this review, instead of just saying sorry we aren't satisfied and how can we help. I realy dont think this place can get any better to be honest but my parents had their pool redone it was quite some time ago but i must say the concrete work that was done around the Pool was great but the Tile work in the Pool was absolute garbadge not long after the Tile was put on they started slowley but surely falling off so my Dad who has since passed away called them and told them the Tiles are falling off so they came out and said we dont make that style anymore so instead of trying to match the Tiles they threw on Tiles that wher smaller and didnt match at all and to this day they are still falling off if i worked for Shamrock pools i would be absolutley embarrassed that this is the finished product absolute Garbadge our Backyard is Beautiful but the Pool makes it look Like crap with mismatched Tiles and tiles that have fallen off this Company should be called SCAM ROCK Pools read more

I guess there is a reason I withheld 5 stars from my previous review. The fiberglass began cracking where the new swim shelf met with the old pool and I began losing water. I called Jan as the pool was still under warranty and he had his crew out quickly. To patch the crack, water had to be drained and refilled (at my cost of course). They patched the crack and repainted. The paint did not match exactly but close enough (new paint vs. paint exposed to salt water and sun perhaps?) A few months later, the crack began to show again, in the same spot. I contacted Jan who said he would schedule a time to fix it but that never happened. I have since sold the house (disclosed crack to new owner). Unfortunately, I don't think the warranty has to be honored after I sold the house. I'm not a pool builder, or concrete worker, but I watched them build out the swim deck shelf. It was framed with old wood and then filled up with debris from the old tile/pool surround before being filled with concrete. When the wooden forms were removed, I remember them grabbing concrete and using their hands to cover up the debris that was still visible on the side of the shelf were the wood forms had been. And while they did rebar the top (only the top few feet at best), I don't remember them attaching them to the old pool surface in anyway to prevent movement. But again, I'm not a pool builder and their way may be standard. All I do know is that it's shifting, causing cracking, which they repaired once. It shifted and cracked again and I was ghosted presumably because he knew I was selling. It's a bummer too, being as I really liked him and his family during the job. read more

Jan had my permit application submitted and approved in Feb. Work started in May. He planned ahead. Inspection is stressful for the homeowners. The inspector gave a time frame for his appointment. Jan was always here before the designated time. We waited patiently together. He talked to the inspector. Quite reassuring. Finally, I usually have the restroom available to the crew working on my property. Jan, was the only contractor to bring on-site porta-john. Very beneficial for everyone. Meet him and talk with him. I noticed that our pool was leaking water and contacted Shamrock. The fiberglass was covered under a three year warranty. Within a couple of days they had determined the cause of the leak and also made the repair. It was all very simple and cost nothing since it was under warrantee. ( I made sure to tip them because they worked hard in blazing heat) I thought Jan's price was fair and the work was great. They were a tad slow in doing warranty work. Absolutely number one for any major construction job in our eyes. Long story short, go with Shamrock and you'll be happy you did so. Get it done right the first time with a smile. We had contracted another company to renovate our fiberglass coated pool a couple months ago. There are very few contractors here in the SF Bay Area that will even touch fiberglass, and we went with one we'd had good experiences with in the past. They started in mid April and from the start it was a disaster. After weeks of delays, lack of communication, and shoddy work, the contractor simply stopped all work and communication completely in late May. We tried calling, emailing, texting, and nothing. There was some dodgy things going on with the company and they are no longer in business. We stared at a completely empty pool with holes all over the place, tiling unfinished, walls lightly sanded but still disgusting, and a main drain that was completely clogged by the prior contractors shoddy work, wonderign what in the world we were going to do. I sent an email to one of the other two companies we could find that did fiberglass. After hearing our plight, they completely cut off communication with us - unwilling to pick up the pieces for us. Totally frustrated and beyond belief, we contacted Shamrock Pools on a Thursday night and Jan was out Monday morning. He gave us a fair bid and got the work (re)started in just another few days. This company moved some things around to get us in fast and saved us in our time of need. Our pool is now more beautiful than it has ever been and we are beyond thrilled. Then they called and said were not doing it because they found a BIGGER JOB!! Who does that?!? I never dump one of my clients I've committed to for a big job. That's horrible!! In addition when I called back they then tried to come up with some BS about being sued if my mom falls in her pool!! So basically she has no faith that they can do the job proper?! Also your company has insurance so if by a long stretch that did happen the insurance takes care of it! In summation don't hire them unless your spending $20k to keep their interest! Their response is they fixed what they said they would. Of course because they knowingly fixed what did not need to be fixed and charged an arm and a leg. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If you're looking to resurface or refinish your pool, you've come to the right place! I have not had any pool work done in 20+ years, so it took a bit of investigating to find the right place. When I called Shamrock Pool Fiberglass, the owner Jan Moreno set up an appointment. He went into great detail regarding what it would take to make my pool look new again and better than before. My wife wanted the pool to look blue. He explained the fiberglass and the gel will be a bright white, but the color of the sky will make the pool look baby blue. We worked out a deal and I signed the contract. This was back in December 2020. He said all his people follow COVID-19 rules such as wearing masks and using a bathroom at another location (not at my house). The men were very nice about everything. If I had a question about something, they explained it, and we all kept our distance. The work that was being performed was something special to see. All of the work was done to my liking and very professional just as Jan Moreno said it would be. Jan even came on the last two days to spray the fiberglass in the pool. The pool resurfacing came out great and now the water looks baby blue! Our friends that come over just love the look of the pool and at night with the pool light on it's great. We bought our home and the pool needed a lot of work. After calling several places and having them all come look and get quotes. Pricing varied from each one with the cheap route to just coat what was there to a complete re-glass and gel coat. We had algae constantly coming back even after professional maintenance . We went the full package new tile and jets as well as skimmer tile and filter housing. Jan had his guys come in and strip all the tile and completely sand down the existing coating to get down to the original fiberglass after the re-glass and gel coat we have not seen anything but clear water. The owner and workers were very nice and knowledgeable. The job took a little longer than expected but with COVID and my particular materials having to come in from Florida (which was the supply store not their fault) it was understandable. I am very happy with the final fiberglass product. It looks like they caked it on very thick. I had a couple long cracks with leakage and they put steel bars to reinforce the area. There is not a trace of any former problems. They even coated all the way into my skimmer and put tile leading in as well. Nice touch! No one did that before. I am a 26 year pool owner. These people sure put the SHAM in Shamrock! We hired Shamrock Pool to fix a large crack in our swimming pool and it turned out to be an absolute disaster! The owner assured me that his company could fix the crack and stop the heavy leaking of our pool, however after one week of work and $17,000 later, a large bulge soon opened up right in the same place where the original crack was. Jan, the owner, came over to look at this new problem and said that it was due to rainwater seeping in. I have lived in this house for almost 40 years and seen many rainy winters with no pool problems, but he promised to only charge us for materials used. We agreed, as we just wanted the pool fixed. Jan ended up charging us another $5,000 for this latest work, which was just to shore up a small area behind our skimmer! My family and I didn't feel that it was worth fighting over, especially if it really was fixed this time. Not even four months went by, when the same large crack opened up again in our pool. That was when I finally got it through my head that the $22,000 work Shamrock had done was for nothing. We found a wonderful fiberglass repair company in Martinez who finally fixed our pool for $6,700, a fraction of what Shamrock charged us. This new company said that the only way to truly fix our cracked pool was to use multiple rebars, one for every foot of crack, otherwise it was like trying to close a gaping head wound with a bandaid! Our pool has been crack free for over one year now, no thanks to Shamrock. Please, let our $22,000 mistake serve as enough of a warning to stay away from Shamrock Pool Fiberglass and find a different company who actually knows what they are doing and doesn't just care about the money. read more

We have an indoor pool that had to be redone in fiberglass. It's an interesting kind of situation that required a special touch. I met with Jan. We went over all the parts of the project. He came out and did my pool with his crew quickly and efficiently. There was a little miscommunication about the amount of cleanup that would be required for an indoor pool. Don't use this company. We paid 18K for a leaking pool that they have decided, despite their guarantee, not to fix. There complaint was too much ground water but in 21 years of owning this property (and multiple fiberglass work done over the years) have we ever had so much ground water that the fiberglass literally split the way it did with this company. I now know that Advanced Pool coatings is the company to use. So much for shredding 18K for nothing. It is now mid August and there is absolutely no ground water and the pool fiberglass continues to crack. read more

I called this business for a quote on my backyard. The date a time was set up so I took time off work to meet with the representative, who happened to be the owner, at my house. After about two weeks passed I called and inquired about the quote. I was told they would have me a quote within a couple days. To date I have not received a quote, a phone call or an email.
