I've been trying to find jajjang dishes as good as i had in Seoul and it seemed like every place in Houston would make it super plain and just not good. But this place...wow tasted just like the dishes i had back in Korea it was very flavorful and overall very good. The service was quick and easy. It was so hard trying not to order the whole menu when everything looked so tasty! I can't wait to go back and order more.

We ate the restaurant out near hobby airport and glad to know they are now in hmart food court. I find it convenient I order for takeout and also get my grocery shopping all done in one place. We order: jjamppong (spicy pork seafood veggie noodle soup) (I like their version because it's simple with pork shrimp & veggies. The soup is a little busy for me already so I don't really for the extra seafood like mussels, calamari) **if you want the non spicy version order Woo Dong (I order that for my kids) *** Tangsuyuk (Korean Chinese sweet and sour pork) Jajangmyeon (korean Chinese black Bean noodle) If you watch lots of k drama they usually eat Jajangmyeon with tangsuyuk. I can never finish a serving, usually I can split it in 2 meals. The tangsuyuk I just reheat in air fryer for some crisp. You can either dip in sauce or pour over crispy meat.

    Not professional.

Really! Worst Ja Jang Myun ever had. Wordless. Please save yourself some time go somewhere else.

Haven't been to H-mart on Blalock for almost a year. Decided to stop by for some spicy Korean seafood noodles soup. I always ordered the jjamppong and the place was called daddy daughter. Guess it was closed and I saw the name of the restaurant has changed but the dish was still on the menu. So I figured it's just a name change as the cashier was speaking Korean fluently. I got my soup in around 6 mins. First sip to the broth was meh, then there wasn't any mussels, squid, etc, but lots of shredded pork and 6 small shrimps. I didn't like the soup nor the ingredients. However it was good having a hot bowl of soup in the cold 40's. I won't return again as the management had probably changed.

Small Chinese spot located inside of H-Mart's food court. Fried dumplings: 3/5 they weren't crispy and the filling was quite bland. Jajangmyeon: 5/5 this dish is a must try! I've had it several times now and it's always consistently good. The noodles have the perfect chewy texture, and you get a lot of black bean sauce. (Pro tip if you have sauce leftover, take it home and mix it with rice for Jajang-bap). General Tso Chicken: 5/5 crispy chicken bites with a sweet and tangy sauce all over. What more could you ask for? This dish is also a must try!

Shan Hu is the newest face in Super H-mart and answers the desperate cry for solid Korean-Chinese cuisine within the food court. Jjajangmyun, or black bean noodles, tops the menu board and with good reason - it is sumptuous, slightly oily, and the sauce is made fresh upon ordering. The same jjajang sauce is available over rice (jjajangbab), which I'm sure would be just as tasty. While it usually comes with some pork pieces, the woman who took my order at the counter took kindly to my request for no meat (vegetarians welcome here!). The food took less than ten minutes to make and before long, I was digging into a generous bowl of noodles. I could only find one minor flaw with my meal, which was that the noodles must have been rinsed in cold water after cooking, rendering my meal somewhat lukewarm. Side dishes such as yellow daikon radish slices are free for the taking and other accoutrements such as hot pepper powder are also available at the counter.

Located inside H-mart on Blalock. Parking is therefore ample. Once you take your order, they give you a ticket number. There are digital signs overhead that are supposed to display numbers when each order is ready, but they're either not functioning or just not in use. Therefore, it is necessary that you stay close so that you can catch when your order is ready. The seating is limited especially during peak lunch and dinner times as the cafeteria space is shared with several other in-house restaurants. I never saw anyone really going around and cleaning this area, so everything is a bit sticky or stained. Never felt comfortable eating there. And, if you've been to the original Shan Hu location off of telephone road, you'd know that this secondary location just isn't up to par. The jjajangmyeon is just a bit more watery and less flavorful than the original.

Oh my goodness if you haven't tried the jajangmyeon from Shan Hu Chinese Restaurant, you need to now! The best I've had in Houston so far! Great big portion and definitely hits the spot! So sad I only discovered this recently. Will be looking forward to eating it again!

This place is my go to casual Korean Chinese eatery in H Mart. Decent jjajangmyun (black bean sauce noodles) and tansuyook (sweet and sour pork). I don't recommend their jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) but the first two dishes, I recommend. Hope to visit their original restaurant on Bellfort someday too!

    Gia N.

Try the jajangmuyn. Yes, it does taste as good as it looks. Well at least at this place. We got general tso chicken to pair with it and it was the best. The price was reasonable. My bf and I shared everything and we got full at the end. Don't forget your pickled radish.

After shopping, you typically get a little hungry seeing all of the delicious snacks and a variety of seafood and meats. Normally, I get the black bean noodle which is a staple for Chinese Korean restaurants. This time, I decided to try something new. I got the sweet and sour pork and the seafood stew. Both were edible, but I will definitely not do that again. I just recommend the black bean noodle here. Everything else is just okay. Prices are typically a little more expensive, so I would recommend going to a restaurant that specializes in these specific dishes.

And here we are again at ze Super H Mart, where ze noodles have oodles of unnecessary vinegar and ze bakery shop right out in ze front calls itself by a French name but is as French as French fries! What is zis heresy against our cuisine? J'en ai ras-le-bol ! But for some reason Not Yet French is here again trying to find quelque chose de français in Houston's biggest Korean market! Oui mes amis, am I a glutton for punishment? On verra ! At first I walked around the selection of ten different stalls in the food court looking for fried chicken, but wanted something healthier. So instead of fat and protein, maybe some carbohydrate-filled Korean pancakes. Nope, you either buy the really tiny ones that are pre-made for the admittedly cheap $5, or I have to go back to Yori Yori to get them made fresh. As sweet as the lady there is, I guess you could say I've gone a bit "sour" on the food there. So for something else I could try to cook and recoup my money's worth, I guess I shall eat the Korean dish that explains why this restaurant calls itself Chinese...the Chinese-originating Jajangmyeon. "But wait, Monsieur ... those are ze noodles! Ne pas commander ça encore !" "D'accord, but I am le hungry! After all I am Not Yet French...I am not yet prepared to starve rather than have to eat mauvaise cuisine !" I suppose you folks have a right to be nervous because you know those little mechanical cats that wave at you when you walk by? I cannot tell if he is telling me to come closer and satisfy my fine culinary cravings, or to stay away! I guess ze decision was made by zis belle fille at the front counter! Besides la cuisine, is there anything sweeter to ze French than l'amour ? Of course they say in America that the guy always pays, so tant pis pour moi, but maybe it's worth ze risk zis time! The order went into the kitchen and I figured it was time to make myself more presentable when she came back out by taking a liberal portion of kimchi from the free condiment bar. I guess it is less spicy and funky than most for a reason, eh? But I want to be a little bit more "hot" this time around and brought in some additional chile powder. You know what they say, go big or go home! And indeed the extra chile got soaked up beautifully by the cabbage and it was just like I remember my favorite kimchi! But now comes ze main event! Cucumber topping on some fresh-made noodles with a liquidy black sauce swimming with pork and cabbage, brought out lovingly by "mon chou !" I hope zis tastes just parfait ! The noodles are blatantly homemade, with plenty of chew and tenderness playing off each other. The vegetables are fresh and crispy, but unfortunately the sauce, while nicely subtle and clearly made to order, is a little too liquidy, especially since there are no spoons, at least maybe if you ask for them. But I would think you'd think of that in advance. Madame, if someday you too eat our divine escargot in ze Motherland, do you want to try to eat zis out of ze shell with a spoon? "Oh, pas du tout !" As you can tell, it was a bit of a hassle eating with just chopsticks. Take out another 8 cl of liquid (hey Americans, learn ze metric system already!) and you'll be right on target. So perhaps I have quite sadly not yet found ze perfect lady. Quel dommage ! But fortunately the gentle taste of yellow pickled Korean radish also on the condiment bar is a nice way to clear my mouth for ze next time. I guess as the Americans say, "there are plenty more fish in the sea!" But at least my stomach is getting me closer to making ze catch! I will see you on ze other side, mecs et menottes ! Oh, you too, kitty. Not Yet French says: "trop de liquide encore, mais c'était mieux ... 80 pour cent d'amour, donc quatre étoiles !"

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

Today was my lucky day because there was plenty of parking spots and seats (although the parking lot is very small). This place is great! I understand the hype for sure. When you walk inside it's just about the smallest restraunt I've ever. Very cozy and cute vibe with smooth jazz playing on a speaker and we got our food very fast. I really enjoyed my time here. Dry Fried Green Beans 5/5- these are the best green beans I have had in my life! I am not exaggerating like I will be thinking about these green beans all week. Do not hesitate to try these. Perfectly salty and good amount of crunch still left. The flavors they used are just perfect. Colorful Beef 4/5- The texture of the beef was so tender and not chewy at all like other places. The flavor was bright and the bell peppers were cooked through well. The issue I had with this dish was the sichuan peppercorns. I was just eating and not really looking at it super closely so I got a mouth full of these peppercorns and wow it was actually horrible. Just beware because the texture of these things are god awful and I think that they should be taken out like how a bay leaf is removed before serving. It was just really intense and it almost ruined the dish for me honestly. Other than that a great dish. My mouth was so numb but worth it. Dandan noodles 2/5- This was my first time trying this dish anywhere and I did not really enjoy it at all. The sesame flavor was really strong and it wasn't really salted at all. Very strange flavor. I will not order this again, however I do believe that the execution on this dish is great. There was a lot of sauce and the noodles were cooked well. I just really wish I liked the flavor of this dish and that's a personal problem. This dish also made my mouth numb but the flavor did not make it worth it. I wanted to like these so badly but I just couldn't do it. I will be back!
