Why have I only just now discovered this place?! Its been on my "Want to try" list for a while, but I never found the time to visit because it is a pretty far drive for me. It is also right next to SGD tofu house (another one of my favs), so if I am going to make the drive, most times I just stop at tofu house for a meal. But, I finally got to try Manna this weekend and needless to say, I was very impressed. This is THE SPOT to go for chinese-style korean food. It is very similar to the more popular, Paik's kitchen, but in my opinion even more authentic and yummy. The store is run by a korean lady that cooks up all meals to order. The interior gives very homey vibes with some picture menu items taped to the wall and scattered tables around the perimeter. My husband and I (over)ordered the black bean noodle (Jajangmyeon), fried dumpling (mandu), seafood noodle soup, and sweet and sour beef (Tangsuyuk). # Jajangmyeon- 8/10. Bouncy noodles with a delicious black bean sauce and thick cut onions made for a great slurp and centerpiece to our lunch. #Mandu- 7/10. Chive and noodle fried dumpling that was nicely crisped. #Seafood noodle soup- 10/10. This was the highlight of my meal. The broth was beautiful layered and flavored that felt like a nice warm hug on a crisp fall day. The noodles were so bouncy and chewy. I didn't expect to like this dish as much as I did but I will definitely be coming back for this exact bowl of noodles. #Tangsuyuk- 9/10. Slices of beef with a nicely crisped and slightly chewy batter that paired so well with the sweet and sour sauce. One of my favorite korean/chinese dishes and Manna noodle house has perfected its recipe. I will say, this dish doesn't tend to reheat well, so try to finish it during your meal if possible. Overally, loved my experience and will definitely be back!

Very cozy restaurant. The service was impeccable it genuinely felt like eating at a friend's house.

First time here! Its been on my list for a long time and i was finally able to go, went on a random monday morning! Was the only customer there , but understandable i went at 11am. The restaurant really felt like i was back in seoul with the menu on the wall and an older lady running the place. This was actually my first time trying jjamppong because i wanted something soupy and im so glad i got it! The noodles were so chewy and the broth was flavorful. The jjajangmyeon was also very good! The owner explained to me how she doesnt use pork with the 짜장면 and the 탕수육 so everyone else can enjoy it and I LOVEEE THAT! The portions are also very huge and so worth the price i paid for. Service was great and food was good. I can't complain

Manna Noodle House offers a variety of Korean noodle dishes in the Koreatown of Houston. It is a small business ran by a really sweet couple, and they're always there when I visit. I have been there a few times and I love the food! I have gotten the spicy cold chewy noodles, the kalguksu, the dumplings, and the split of the jjampong and black bean noodles. My favorite dish from them is the spicy cold chewy noodles. It is super refreshing and very chewy. It comes with a bowl of soup, as well. I love it! The spicy noodles pair really well with their fried dumplings and kimchi. Their kimchi is one of the best I ever had! I absolutely love their kimchi and always ask for extra. I also like their jjampong; it is seasoned well. Their kalguksu and black bean noodles are okay and a bit on the blander side. All their portions are huge, and the prices are very reasonable. They are super nice and check up on you often. Overall, if you want a delicious Korean meal, this place is definitely a great place to stop by, especially for the spicy chewy noodles!

HOUSTON, TX 77055 / KOREAN-CHINESE / FRI 11-17-23 / DINNER +The sweet and sour tangsuyuk was well-prepared. +Our gentleman waiter hustled and provided us great service. -They use the same prepackaged noodles for their black bean (Jjajangmyeon) noodles, spicy seafood (jjampong) noodle soup, and knife-cut (kalgooksoo) noodle soup. -The prices are pretty steep. -The interior looked like a train wreck. There was food dishes in the middle of a long table, random ingredients stored out in the open, kitchen gadgets all over the place, and random things just laying around. -The spicy stir-fried pork was pretty salty and not sure this entree is worth the price tag. -The restaurant definitely needs to be remodeled/updated. What we ordered: '1 Spicy Stir-fried Pork with Rice $17.99 '1 Sweet and Sour Tangsuyuk $21.99 '1 Jjajangmyeon $12.90 Total: $67.00 post tax plus tip

I came here 40 minutes before they closed and they welcomed me with open items. (I know that is typically frowned upon in the F&B industry). The employees were very nice and welcoming. They seemed like they were ready to field any questions about the menu but I already had my eyes set on their black bean noodles. I ordered the #1 Black Bean Noodles & Spicy Seafood Soup split dish and fried dumplings. The fried dumplings came out in a huge tray with about 10 dumplings. My favorite part were the small glass noodles inside. The black bean noodles were cooked well and had a nice bounce to it which paired nicely with the black bean sauce. The spicy seafood soup was my favorite however. It had a small kick to it and was packed with flavor. Overall, I would like to visit this place again.

Spicy seafood soup - (5/5) Amazing broth. The owner says it take her 3 days to cook it. It was extremely flavorful. Tteokbokki - (5/5) the owner told me she uses the spicy seafood soup broth to make the tteokbokki sauce. Makes sense considering this is the best tteobbokki I've had in Houston. The spice level was plenty for the average person. Jjajangmyeon - I haven't had this dish much so I wasn't sure what to rank it. It's good, but I really enjoyed the other two dishes a lot so this didn't shine as bright. Service was fast and the owner is nice. Portion sizes are good. I enjoyed talking to her before the lunch rush. Will def make the trip back for these dishes and others.

Came here for dinner and had friendly staff who asked to refill kimchi/water/tea promptly. Ordered the champon which had lots of seafood, delicious soup base, and great flavor with chewy noodles! Also got the spicy pork which came in a large size. Would highly recommend trying out this authentic Korean place!!

Small shop in a quiet shopping plaza near Bunker Hill. We came by on a Friday night. Interior is very quaint and definitely gives off mom and pop vibes. There were two tables, including us, and we were expecting them to be a bit busier at prime time. We ordered the tteobokki and the mixed noodle dish (JJM and spicy seafood noodles). It took around 20-25 minutes to get our food and it seemed like it was cooked to order. The spicy rice cakes were good; I haven't had the bigger rice cakes in a while. The sauce was slightly watery compared to most other places but the flavor was good. The noodles were a bit on the bland side. The JJM was slightly bland for me, I expected a bit more flavor but it's also my first time trying the Korean version. Overall, it was still better than the spicy seafood noodle. It's a bit watery and flavorless in my opinion compared to similar versions I've had in LA Koreatown. Overall, a bit let down compared to the other reviews!

Very cozy vibe, but very delicious jjampong. One of the best in town! Even though there was only one server, food came out in timely manner. Jjajang Noodle was very good as well!

Amazing service! Everyone was so friendly and attentive! Homey vibes too! As for the food, we got steamed dumplings, sweet and sour fried beef, and half black bean noodles and half spicy seafood noodle soup! Everything was great! Loved the steam dumplings and the spicy seafood noodle soup! They also offer free barley tea. Had a good time here!

The got nice wall art too, depicting the popular dishes from the north so I had my expectation and hopes up. Service is ordinary, she speaks little English but can get by ordering, we order first at the counter the sit anywhere. Braised egg is 2 for $3.50, salty but expected since it's marinated. Came out steaming hot, and yolk was not overly cooked and dry, not bad. Starting with the Chinese hamburger I felt sad and know not to expect too much from the other dishes we ordered. First the meat look different than what others have posted before, and it was kinda dry and too salty to eat. There was no other spice, only the meat juice flavor. The bun they use was stale to eat. Traditional way of making this should be the flaky oily pancake, or at least make the buns softer to eat. The mutton stew was clear and very heartwarming to drink on a cold day. But the portion is super small for the price. The glass noodles were gone in literally two bites. I had none to share with my boyfriend. This dish come with the burger bun too that you can soak them in the soup so I guess this is the extra carb make up for the less noodles. Oil splash noodle is their specialty? It was good but didn't wowed me. Noodles are chewy and well cooked, came with lots of bean sprouts. The sauce is flavorful and actually not too oily which I enjoyed more. You can add the beef for an extra charge, it's the regular braised beef, was just ok. I find it funny that their all food arts on the wall look nothing like the actual way they serve it.

Look no further for authenticity, flavor, and complexity in Chinese cooking near the med center!…read more Though we opted for more "simple" dishes during this experience, you can judge a place by if they can do their simple dishes well. The mapo tofu is one of the best we've had outside of Bellaire with spicy, savory, numbing, and warmth that you expect from a good mapo tofu. Crispy popcorn chicken is a classic that's spicy, lightly fried, and crisp. It has an authenticity that other places around can't replicate and makes you keep craving more. The portions are also appropriate for their price. Service is incredibly quick, and you can order as you go and receive your dish within 10-15 minutes, regardless of how busy they are. As for the ambiance, it's loud, it's hectic, and it's simple... maybe a stretch, but makes me feel like I'm eating at a mom and pop shop in the heart of China. This place is definitely a go to if I'm convincing a friend of Houston's great food scene! Rating: 4.5/5

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.
