The owner of this place is not helpful at all! His attitude was sour and could barely bother to talk to me. Maybe he doesn't speak English. I asked if I could just get some broth and white rice and also asked if they had chicken wings. He said it was $7.55 for 6 wings. Turns out the chicken wings are not whole wings and the 6 pieces are only the small thin pieces. Only those and not one little wing drumette. And they were very small. He also charged me another $8.00 for a small white rice and a container of clear broth. He gave me 2 soy sauces and when I asked for a couple extras he looked at me like I was asking him to give me the meal for free! I will NEVER go back there!!!! Absolutely Disgusting! We decided to get some dim sum and Harmony in strawberry village was closed, so we Yelped a Chinese restaurant. Figured this place was ok judging by other reviews. We ordered appetizers and won ton soup. After ordering we saw a cockroach crawling on the wall. We alerted them and moved to another table. We started eating the won ton soup and my friend had a floating roach on the bite he was about to take. We had eaten half the soup at that point. Not sure if it fell in during prep or was boiled in the soup but I felt like throwing up. We promptly left. We definitively ate some cockroach. Honestly not sure why this place has 3.5 stars. It is good Chinese food at a reasonable price in a place that otherwise has very limited Chinese options. I've gotten their braised green beans, king pow tofu, generals chicken, eggplant with tofu, and veggie chow main. All of it was good. Is this the best Chinese food I've ever had? No. It doesn't hold up to the much more expensive restaurants in SF. Is it perfectly good for lunch or for a takeout dinner with some friends? Absolutely. Try it. You'll probably like it. read more

My order: General Tso's chicken- a soppy pile of fried batter with some shreds of chicken. Inedible IMO. Crab cheese puffs- not bad. Definitely had better. BBQ pork fried rice- I've eaten a lot of pork fried rice. This was the worst ever. Dry and tasted like the old pan it was cooked it. I can rescue this dish by adding some flavor. Mongolian beef- the best part of the meal. Great flavor. Seasoned well. Arrived a bit over cooked, but that's due to steaming too long in a delivery container. I'll never order food from this place again. Tommy's Wok is still number 1 in my book. Note: Chinese delivery is always better in the traditional cardboard containers. The fully sealed plastic containers over cook the food by the time it arrives. Cardboard containers let the food breath and slows cooking down. Probably why my General Tso's Chicken was so soggy. I never would have Believed that there was a bad Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area but my husband and I found it. First of all, we ordered lunch and asked to use their bathroom. They said that we couldn't. Luckily there is a beautiful supermarket, The Good Earth, that had clean bathrooms nearby. We ordered chicken with vegetables and asked for it to be medium spicy. The dish we ordered had no flavor at all. Even adding soy sauce didn't help. The chicken was dry. We also ordered spring rolls and they were extremely greasy and also had no flavor. I stopped in here waiting on a colleague for a meeting. I didn't have super high expectations because it's a tiny place in a strip mall right on the street. Just goes to show you that in the restaurant game location, location, location isn't always the rule. I ordered to go but asked for some egg rolls while I waited. These were seriously the best I've ever had. Super flaky, not greasy, and the sweet and sour sauce was super tasty. Before this meal I would have said this bright red sauce is the same no matter where you go but I have seen the light. I also got General Tso chicken and pork fried rice. The restaurant is significantly modernized with recent renovation and the menu looks to be Shanghai-inspired as their menu is executed by a Chinese chef from Shanghai. Found this little gem by mistake while visiting the area. We had the Kung Pao Beef, Barbecued Duck, Egg Foo Young with Shrimp, Combination Fried Rice, and Barbecued Pork Chow Mein. All were very delicious! Kung Pao was a bit spicy/hot for me, but sooo good! This is a very small place, not fancy, but the service was excellent. Why go into San Francisco when you can come here? I tried the Mongolian beef, it was OK. It was very greasy, and it wasn't what i expected. I decided to give it another try, tried the Mongolian Chicken, it was greasy but the chicken was dry.. We wanted Chinese food yesterday for Mother's Day lunch. Normally we order from Feng Nian or Tommy's Wok, but both were closed. We decided to try Shang Hai Kitchen which took over from long-time favorite May Lee's at Tam Junction. We got weekly take out from May Lee's for years, and finally stopped due to food fatigue. So glad we decided to try Shang Hai Kitchen. We got Mongolian Beef, wonton soup, green onion pancakes, fried pumpkin, and veggie spring rolls. All were really delicious with very bold flavors. Portions were generous, prices were reasonable, and everything was packed nicely and stayed hot until we got it home. We will definitely be ordering from them again! read more

Had a dim sum craving so we ordered delivery - 4 dim sum items, fried rice, and cucumber salad. I appreciated that they called to say they were out of the juice we ordered and offered a substitution, instead of just omitting it. The dim sum items were delicious. Cooked well, ingredients were fresh. Shrimp didn't smell fishy. The fried rice was fresh and flavorful and cooked perfectly. The cucumber salad was also fresh and crunchy and full of ginger and garlic, and packed to prevent spills. Delivery was on time, and the delivery guy was super friendly. It's amazing how bad most Chinese places - actually most delivery places period - in Marin are (both food and service), so I appreciate this place for good quality, well-prepared food, served well, at good prices. This will definitely be my new go to for Chinese and dim sum. read more

I'm so happy I stumbled upon Shanghai Kitchen on DoorDash. I LOVE dim sum so I was excited to see that they had shrimp dumplings and pork buns. Both were so yummy! Then I was ecstatic to find out that they served steamed dumplings with chinkiang vinegar -- so authentic and so yummy!!! I did order some more American dishes like General Tso's chicken (yum) and Kung Pao chicken (also yum). This will be my new go to spot for my Chinese fix! By reading other reviews, it seems that everyone has their own preference, but I HIGHLY recommend this place. I've already ordered twice this week!!! Ordered from here for the first time the other night, and have to say it was better than I thought it would be. Ordered the Mongolian beef, which did have too many onions verses the amount of beef, but was still pretty tasty. The generals chicken was also good, however did not hold up well for the next day leftovers. Also ordered a couple appetizers: spring rolls were nice and crispy and the wontons were good but nothing to rave about. Basically, if you live in the neighborhood it's a pretty decent choice of Chinese food instead of driving further to some of other favorite Chinese food restaurants in Marin such as DJs or Tommy Woks. read more
