I have never been seen or treated by Dr. Rush. I was given a referral and when I called to schedule an appointment the receptions said she will check if the doctor will accept the referral and call me back. A week later I call to follow up only to be told by someone else that the doctor doesn't treat toe nails. I thought I made a mistake and called the wrong office but after checking the referral, I had called the right place. When I called again, I ended up talking to the original person from the previous week and she told me that the doctor makes "exceptions" and will treat toe nails but she was still waiting for a response. The office is either really bad at communication or the doctor has no regard for an elderly patient that is in pain. It shouldn't be this hard to get care and talk about starting on the wrong foot. read more

AVOID THIS DOCTOR AT ALL COSTS. I suffered a very serious injury in the beginning of summer 2016. I clearly heard and felt three pops/snaps on the my medial,lateral, and heel. I also have had a snapping/subluxed ankle since the injury. I go into PAMF podiatry and get chosen this guy. Where do i begin, First off he comes in and hes clearly in a hurry/rushed, and hes pretty much disregarding everything I have to say about what im feeling, he tells me pretty much that i could just be having alot of scar tissue pain and that an mri would reveal everything exactly. Keep in mind that he has pretty much thrown what i had said/recounted out the window and at this point he is carrying on with what he wants to do,snapping ankle and everything. So I get the mri, and we meet back up and guess what? This guy says that i have alot of scar tissue thats whats giving me pain. He says scar tissue is impinging my joints and i need to have an ankle debridement. Even At that time I thought that that was possibly the wrong procedure to do since that wasnt what i was feeling exactly, but again, THIS IS WHAT HE WANTED TO DO WITH NO REGARDS TO WHAT I FELT AND WAS PHYSICALLY EXPERIENCING. Even as i was being carted into the surgical room, i asked him what exactly they were doing, and his words exactly, "your gunna come in here were going to make you feel better and youll be on your way home!" NOT. It has now been almost three years since my ankle debridement, i still have instability in my ankle, my ankle still has a major loss of power, ankle still snapping. So i go into PAMF last week and requested a new doctor, ONE THAT WILL ACTUALLY LISTEN TO ME AND NOT TALK TO ME LIKE I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. In one meeting with my new doctor Nicholas Todd, we have already made more progress that whatever this guy claims. Within one 45 min appointment Dr TODD already physically identified a TORN ATFL, TORN CFL, TORN FLEXOR RETINACULUM, AND A TORN PERONIAL TENDON. Doctor Shannon Rush took a full mri and performed surgery on me and didnt see anything??? Are you serious??? HOW CAN YOU MISS MULTIPLE TORN LIGAMENTS/TENDONS, THEN PUSH YOUR ANKLE DEBRIDEMENT ON ME WHEN I CLEARLY SAID NOTHING TO INDICATE I WAS FEELING PAIN FROM MY SCAR TISSUE, AND THEN HAVE THE AUDACITY TO DISREGARD WHAT I EXPLAINED TO YOU ABOUT WHAT I FELT. The BEST doctor I've seen yet!! He's a straight shooter and tells you everything in detail. He explains everything you need to know on getting recovered as quickly as possible. I broke my ankle and fibula in the fall of 1999, and had it cleaned out November 2017. Unfortunately I'm now worse off than before the surgery (Dr. Rush did not perform the surgery), but Dr. Rush has helped me out tremendously! I had an ingrown toenail that needed to be fixed urgently so I made an appointment with the first available doctor, who happened to be Dr. Rush. He recommended to do a procedure to remove the section of nail and the nail matrix, which is something I've had done before so I agreed to it. I asked what kind of anesthetic he uses and he said lidocaine. I asked if he can use marcaine but he refused and said that marcaine will sting more and only last another hour. That's totally false. Marcaine is a far superior anesthetic and lasts at least twice as long as lidocaine, if not longer, but whatever, he's the doctor. The injection itself wasn't too painful, so I give him credit for doing the injection mostly painlessly. However my toe wasn't completely numbed, which I told him when he tested it, but he decided it was numbed enough. As he started cutting my nail out, I told him that I could feel a lot of pain. He asked me what I was feeling and I told him I could feel a sharp stabbing pain. He either didn't care or didn't believe me, as he didn't put in any more anesthetic for whatever reason. After he was done, he bandaged my toe up. The entire bandage became soaked with blood. The nurse noticed and said the bandage should be redone and sent the doctor back in. Dr. Rush looked at it and said it looks fine but added more bandaging to the outside rather than redo the entire bandage. He gave me directions to change out the bandage twice a day. I requested pain medicine since the procedure was very painful the last time I had it done, so he gave me 10 vicodin 5mg. After 1 hour, the lidocaine wore off and I began to feel a sharp stabbing/throbbing pain. I took 1 vicodin and it didn't help, so I took another, and that cured most of the pain. At night when I went to sleep, the pain became much worse. I was up all night because the pain was so bad. I took vicodin throughout the night but it didn't do anything to stop the pain. In the morning, the pain was excruciating, so I called PAMF and requested to page the oncall doctor. Dr. Rush was the oncall doctor so I was connected to him. I explained the situation to him and told him that I need a stronger pain medicine or at least more vicodin since the 10 wasn't going to get me through the next day if the pain continued. He said that I shouldn't be having any pain and asked me why I'm having so much pain. I'm deeply offended by the question he asked me. How should I know WHY I'm having so much pain? Maybe because my nail and nail root were surgically removed? Could that be why I'm having pain? He continued to insist that I'm not having any pain and said he usually doesn't prescribe any pain medication for this procedure. He agreed to give me one day more of vicodin but then said "I won't refill it for another day after this, if it still hurts you'll have to grit it out and deal with it". Those were his exact words. I guess the whole ingrown toenail was a ruse. I probably painted my toe red and faked having pain in it so that I could trick a gullible doctor into doing surgery on it in order to score some vicodin that I would then sell on the streets of San Francisco. Is that about right? Clearly I was faking the whole thing because nobody would feel pain after having a section of their body removed. And on the off chance that I wasn't faking it and it really did hurt, well too bad, I should just have manned up and taken a salt lick or bit down on leather and toughed it out, because taking pain medicine is for sissies read more

Had a very successful surgery with Dr. Rush in September. Everyone at the PAMF surgical center, nurses, cast technicians, x-ray technicians have been wonderful to me. He is a very positive Dr. and I am healing ahead of schedule. You are in good hands if you go see him. I would give him 100 stars if I could. Jesse S. So it's been six years since my surgery and my ankle feels great. What's even better is that I no longer suffer any vestiges from my plantar fasciitis. Yay Dr. Rush!!! I'm old, in my sixties and feel the finality of life is inevitable. I work with so many who suffer plantar fasciitis and have also had severe ankle sprains. Almost all repeat their physicians do not recommend surgery, usually Kaiser HMO or of their Orthopedist does recommend, they continue to put it off. I don't get it! I left Dr Rush and never want to come back and see him or his rudeness assistant- Jessica! I had a bunion surgery in October 2015. Did I have bunion issues? no! Any pain or discomfort there? No! But what I had is a pain under the second toe so the plan was to operate both fingers. I spent time with so many doctors before that to understand if this surgery is necessary and the answer was it is ! A week before my surgery I found out just by looking at "myhealthonline" site that he changed his plan and is going to operate just the bunion. How did Julia Roberts said in "Pretty Woman": "Big mistake! Huge!" 2 appointments after my surgery I saw a young doctor who was in my surgery and not Dr Rush. I asked to see him and 2 months later (!!!) I had an appointment in which he admit I didn't get a good treat. Seriously? This is my foot we are talking about! where were you then???? A year later- I am in the same spot, the same pain but never step in Dr Rush's office. This isn't the kind of treatment you want! And as for his assistant, Jessica- I hope they fired her. short follow-up note, my surgery was around July 2011 and 2.5 years later the results are still pretty good. My friend who saw him for a different ankle surgery also had a good outcome. I would definitely recommend Dr. Rush for a foot or ankle issue, however if you have a specific issue, ask him whether or not he specializes in that. Dr. Rush is my new podiatrist. I am under 40 years old and have done damage to my ankle with severe sprains numerous times. Dr. Rush gave me the options of wearing a brace or having surgery to tighten the ligaments and tendons and to remove scare tissue that would one day probably cause arthritic conditions. I opted for the surgery. It was an out patient procedure but they did have to put me under. The staff was great. The doctor is cool, nice and really really good. In fact, I had NO pain at all. I did have to wear a cast for five weeks but I just got it off and I feel ready to run! Thanks doc. I am shocked at how well it went and how much stronger my ankle feels. Writing an initial review. The doctor is pretty good but the office is bad at organizing appointments. Called in for an appointment and the first one took 4 weeks to setup. Then the doctor said they would fit me in within 7-10 days after taking a look at the MRI. So, I call back and the person attending thephone says she can fit me in another 4 weeks.
