TYPE OF PAIN: Thumb joint area for over a year, called mother's thumb or de quervains or similar SOLVED with Dr Baboujian: 3 months It's an understatement to say how glad I am to have met Dr. Baboujian. He was practicing down in San Diego and I happen to have caught him there before he moved up to Glendale. Before meeting Shant, I have had major pain in my thumb joint area for over a year. I did Occupational Therapy for over 6 months which cost me a large sum, have had doctor visits all over San Diego (general, occupational, hand specialists, MSK, even neurology), have received temporary relief from steroid shots that last maybe a few weeks. This was not getting to the root of the problem and I was going crazy because most of my work involves working with my hands on a computer all day. This sounds like a small problem but if you want a comparison to what it feels like, I would say it's like "Mother's thumb", CMC arthritis, or De Quervain's tenosynovitis. I said that's it, and decided to give acupuncture a try. The amount of knowledge this man has about his profession is unmatched, and the way he guides you through his process, and is able to find different ways to address certain issues is impressive beyond belief. After my first visit, the relief I felt I hadn't felt since my last steroid injection, even though knowing it was only temporary. I got emotional real fast. By some miracle, I was relieved from most of the major pain within 12 weeks. I stuck through the process, and it worked. There were times I would still feel some burning pains, and I would rush to make an appointment in between our sessions, but what's important is that I followed his process and the end result/long term outcome is 90% of the pain is gone. It's been about 5 months since my last session with Shant, and I've only relapsed maybe once or twice, but the pain usually goes away that same day or next day with no action taken. I was sad to know Shant decided to move back up to Glendale, but also happy if he feel's it was the best for him. People in the Los Angeles area with pain or discomfort, trust his process. Dr. Shant is a miracle worker. I went in for a persistent lower back/sacrum pain I've been experiencing for 6 months, sometimes waking up in the middle of the night unable to switch positions. Dr. Shant Baboujian is a miracle worker! I have had sciatic nerve/lower back issues for the last 4 years. When my back pain flares up, I can't sleep comfortably or thoroughly because I physically can't switch sides without waking up. I can't get in and out of my car without shooting pain. I can't walk without getting stuck. In other words, I completely lose my quality of life. Shant is awesome! A couple of months ago, I dislocated my shoulder for the second time in my life. I remember how painful and achy it was during the first accident. After the second time, I read that the pain is supposed to be worse and it would take longer to heal. I quickly stocked up on joint supporting vitamins and booked appointments with Shant. After 10 days, I could use my arm again. Two months later, I am now rock climbing again! shant is the fourth acupuncturist Ive worked with and by far, the only one who has been effective. I had more or less given up on acupuncture but a friend encouraged me to give it another try. I messaged him and five other nearby acupuncturists on yelp wanting to know specifics about the type of needles used and Shant was the only one who could answer the question! After one session, I felt improved, and after a month, was greatly benefiting from reduced anxiety, better digestion, fewer OCD ruminations and more energy. i also find that the sessions are not aggressive and I can tolerate usually painful spots whereas with some doctors, the entire process is painful. As important as the results? He's a great listener, educator and doctor who truly cares for and believes in the wellness and wellbeing of his patients. He does use a type of acupuncture that is slightly different than most and what is taught in California curriculum and perhaps that is part of why my treatment has been so successful compared to acupuncturists? Comments I saw describing Shant using the word "healing"and "well cared for" made me feel like I made the right decision choosing this clinic and provider. I could not have been more wrong. This provider spent less than two minutes with me, as a new patient I was concerned but was in such pain I let it go. He told me I would need more than $1000 worth of treatments. Not one of the first things you want to hear at the beginning of your treatment. The needling was fine, and then I was repeatedly asked if my pain was dissipating. I did not like being in a room next to the bathroom. Over and over I heard people urinating and flushing the toilet. Combined with the traffic noise, I felt like I was in a New York subway. The needles were removed, and the provider spent a lot of time wiping my head with a tissue - I thought he was being extra diligent and making sure the all needles were removed. He made a comment about how I "needed a good shampoo" which I thought was odd. At that point I just wanted to leave, not feeling cared for or any pain relief at all. I washed my hands when got home, looked in the mirror and was SHOCKED at the amount of blood on my scalp. I'm not talking little pin pricks, but 6 streams, more than 5 inches each, of dried blood all over my very scalp. It was irritated and raw - I did not arrive in that condition nor was I being treated for any scalp / head condition. Why didn't he tell me? Why didn't he say what happened, don't be concerned? Why did he leave a new patient to discover this horror on their own when they got home? I felt totally uncared for and duped. read more

Out of the blue, my face started twitching under my right eye. It started off with right under the eye. I didn't think much of it at first, but it started spreading to my right cheek, along with this weird pressure pain. I started freaking out. An Improved Quality of life is Priceless! I returned to Southern California after a year of studying abroad in Britain to visit with my dysfunctional family. As you are probably aware, being raised in a dysfunctional family is not conducive to a healthy life... I suffered from anxiety, depression, and poor health. And after a year of living alone in another country, my symptoms were amplified. These symptoms were interrelated. I wouldn't even call him an acupuncturist. Instead, I would call him a nurturer. I came to his practice in tears feeling vulnerable from life's daily miseries. After his treatment, I had an awakening. Because of his care, I was able to point to the source of my symptoms, and with his continued help, he helped me address those issues. I've spent thousands of dollars on medical bills to remediate problems that were reoccurring. I wish I could have instead reallocated those funds to this treatment because, in my humble opinion, this is the most success I've had regarding my health (I would know because I've had access to some of the best physicians). I have scar tissue that is a result from a recent surgery, and that he is treating and is helping dissolving the scar tissue so that I can have a more active lifestyle.
