Let me tell you- NOT ALL PET GROOMING SALONS ARE CREATED EQUAL! I'll admit it. I'm usually pretty cheap when it comes to paying other people for things that I can easily do myself...like bathing the dog! On occasion, when feeling lazy, I have taken Twinkie, my Welsh Corgi to get a bath at Petco or Petsmart and every time in hindsight it just never seems worth the money for a hose down and some shampoo. Honestly, I can do that in less than 20 minutes FOR FREE. Why would I pay $40-50 for someone else to do it?!? One Saturday morning however we were swamped with chores of cleaning and cooking for a dinner party we were having. There wasn't time to bathe the dog and risk her shaking dog hair all over the kitchen so I called to schedule Twinkie for a bath. Petsmart- "Sorry, we're booked today"! (Click) Petco- "Sorry, we're booked today"! (Click) (Getting worried). I called Shari's Pet Spa. They were also booked for the day but Shari squeezed us in because she understood my dilemma and wanted Twinkie to be soft and pretty for the dinner guests too! I love local businesses!! Now for the service- Other places only wet and wash Twinkie. I didn't notice until I got home that Shari's Spa not only gave her a quality bath but also clipped and filed Twinkie's nails, buffed down the rough, sharp scaly pads on her paws, cleaned up her underbelly with a little shave/haircut, cleaned inside her ears and cleaned her anal glands (sorry probably TMI there). She was fluffy and smelled great! I had no idea she would get such a royal treatment! It only cost $43!!! For all that!!! I paid more in the past for some water and suds at Petsmart, who charge extra for all the other services there. After seeing all that Shari's Spa did for Twinkie I have decided it is totally worth the money and time! I'll never bathe Twinkie myself again. And I'll be taking all my pets to Shari's Family Pet Spa until the day they retire!! read more

We've been looking for a new dog grooming place since moving to the area. After reading the reviews we decided to give this place a try and so glad we did. Every time we called prior to the appointment, the people on the phone were so pleasant and accommodating it really put us at ease. The last few times we had our dog groomed at other places she's gotten really panicky and it's been so hard to leave her with people we don't know and picking her up we always felt guilty because she acted "off" afterwards. At Sharis, the way they handled her, she was calm as can be and we left feeling she was in going hands. Picking her up she was happy as can be and she looked beautiful after being freshly groomed. I have been a taking my dog to Shari's Family Pet Spa since he was a puppy and was one of her first customers when she opened her shop. Service and quality were awesome for several years and my dog seemed quite attached to Samantha who was his regular groomer. As the shop and staff grew and Samantha's personal life changed, the service and quality of grooming went down considerably. I typically would drop my dog off on my way to work every third Friday. As time passed, Samantha was working hours changed. Therefore, even though my dog had been getting the same haircut for 6 years I had to explain exactly what kind of haircut he needed each time I dropped him off. Additionally, I was always asked what time I would like to pick him up. Since he was always groomed on a Friday, I would usually say 3:00 PM so that I could plan to leave my office early that day and my dog wouldn't have to been at the shop all day. I never understood why they asked what time I would like to pick him up. It didn't matter. He was never done before 5:00 PM. Which makes for a very long day for a dog to be caged up a groomer with loud music, barking dogs, groomers yelling at one another, shop vacuum running and the non-English speaking staff also yelling at one another. The last two months were the worst. Each time I would pick my dog up it looked like someone actually used a lawn mower to cut his hair. During that final two months, on one occasion, I picked him up and drove home. Once home he immediately needed to go outside. He was acting like he needed to have a bowel movement. Unfortunately, the only thing he was passing was blood. I immediately rushed him to the emergency vet clinic where I was informed that the groomer had cut him while removing hair from his anal glands. I was shocked. He was put on pain medication and bleed for several days. The last time I went to the shop was the most classic. My dog had been there since 8:30 AM the Friday before Christmas. I told them that I would pick him up at 4:00 PM because we had plans that evening. The pickup time came and went. No call. No appointment reminders and pickup calls was becoming normal pattern with Samantha. I finally called the shop at 5:30 PM and asked if he was ready. Shari informed me that Sam had indeed called to let me know that he was ready. I said, "that's strange, I didn't get the call". Shari angerly insisted. My response was the same as my first. Shari again insisted. I then said, "the lack of calling for appointment reminders and pickups is becoming a pattern, maybe it's time I start looking at other options". I then told her I would be there in a few minutes. As she was hanging up the phone I could over hear her saying to the staff and anyone else who was in the lobby in a very snotty childish voice "he's never allowed to bring that dog back here again!" Obviously when I arrived at the shop a few minutes later I asked to speak with Shari. I told her that I overheard what she said, showed her my phone, that indicated no call had been received from Sam and a verbal argument ensued. That was the last time my dog will go to her shop and I will never again recommend her shop to a friend or even an enemy. To Shari's credit, she called me later that evening and left me a message stating that Sam had called a wrong number and that is why I didn't receive a call letting me know that my dog was ready to be picked up. She again called the next evening to apologize for her tone and behavior. I did not answer the phone, she left a message stating her apology and saying she was a Christian Lady and she doesn't behave that way and Merry Christmas. Here in the Dallas area, you will find if you tell people you are a Christian as an out for bad behavior, the one conducting themselves badly feels much better. I could have handled the situation differently myself. If I had been Shari, I would have stood over my daughter's shoulder and made her call and apologize unprofessionalism. If you own a business and are going to employ our children, the mom hat should come off at work, and the boss is put on. I guess she didn't have Sam call because according to mom, due to my high demands over the past 6 years Sam's stress level was so bad she was unable to do her job correctly. Again, my dog had been getting the same haircut for the past 6 years. read more

We took our dog here for boarding after hearing glowing reviews from friends. I called mid week to tell them we were picking her up 1 day early (on a Sunday) and apparently someone forgot to mark it in her chart. My kids couldn't wait to get her home so we got there right at 4:00 for pick up. When we got there the kids ran to the back and what we found was appalling. Our sweet baby was in a tiny stacked cage and she was soaking wet in her own urine. She smelled wretched and she was shaking. She had apparently been living this way all week because her white paws and belly were stained yellow. The girl that worked there told me to leave her there that night and they would give her a bath the next day. Needless to say we didn't! I washed her off the best I could and we left with my kids in hysterics. It took over a month to get her yellow pee stained paws and belly white again. Thank God we picked her up early so we know how she was really treated at that place! NEVER again!! They lost her dog bed too read more
