    Big stuffed Ruben, really good!

Since many of the reviews for the restaurant are posted here under the casino listing, I'll post mine here too! If you search for Sharky's this is the listing you'll get. You have to know the actual name of the restaurant to get that listing. I got invited to have lunch here at Sharky's Casino restaurant, The Jackpot Cafe, by some local friends. I'm staying up at Tahoe out of the heat, but made the trip down to Gardnerville with my friend I'm staying with. I would have never thought to stop in here at Sharky's as it kinds looks old, like a place from the past. It does have a colorful history, but it's under new ownership and I hear the food is wonderful. It's the same owners as the Carson Valley Inn, Katie's, Bodine's in Carson as well as Slot World. The menus are similar at all these places but there are small differences in offerings and prices. All the menus are posted online. There's road construction causing traffic back ups, but it's not super bad, or you can approach from the Centerville Lane side like we did. Lots of parking. Inside, OMG, there are some of the friendliest people I've met! Must have been 3-4 people said HI to us! It wasn't alike they all worked here either. We were a party of 4 and got a nice table. Our server was super friendly and took our drink orders. I decided to go for this Caramelized Salmon Salad, I've not seen this salad before anywhere. It's ($13.99) served with a 6 oz piece of salmon fillet, on a bed of mixed greens including bleu cheese crumbles, green apples, Mandarin oranges all with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. OMG! Was this the best dang salad I ever had in my life! Yes, it's that good. The big slab of salmon was cooked perfect, not all dried out, but moist and melty in my mouth. The unique dressing was divine, I never had anything like that before. Get this salad! I can't get over that big slab of salmon! See the pics! My friend had a Patty Melt ($11.99). Check this out, ALL the burger patties here are BIG HALF POUNDERS! The patty melt at the other places, like Bodine's are just lb and don't even cover the whole piece of rye bread on the patty melt. This patty melt was nice thick piece of meat all the way to the edge of the bread. Loaded with grilled onions and cheese, the bread was grilled nice and crispy. Dang good Patty melt , I took a bite, one of the best I've had in a long time! Our local friends had the Meat Loaf special ($8.99) and the Ruben sandwich. The meat loaf was probably the least exciting, but still a decent meatloaf. The Ruben was stuffed thick with pastrami and sauerkraut. I had a taste of that too .... good but the Patty Melt was better for the same price. ($11.99). I come back here for sure if I was in the area again.

    Great value.

We have been coming for breakfast lately. We love the biscuits. Today we came for dinner. Wife had pasta. I had the Paty melt. OMG. My patty melt was very good. Best ever. Wife enjoyed her pasta.

Traditional establishment in the heart of Gardenerville. A nice little casino with newer and older machines. The restaurant is nice with plenty of tables and a full menu. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Try it sometime.

I started coming here to Sharky's cause of the food. The road construction is done now, so it's easier to get here without taking the back roads. The food here is actually better here than the sister casinos at CVI and Bodines owned by the same company. This time I tried the whitefish dinner entree ($13.99) served with veggies and mashed potatoes. My friend had the Pasta Portofino ($14.99). House wine is just $3.00 bucks a glass, can't best that! Service was decent, not the best, but OK. Food was excellent. The whitefish was so tender, it just melts in your mouth and the Portofino pasta with generous portion of shrimp was excellent with subtle flavors that melded together perfectly. They both came with soup or salad. I'd come back here now more often, now that the road is fixed and parking is way easy.

This review is for the restaurant and the waitress. We came in for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was super friendly and our waitress was awesome. We both ordered one of their burgers, lettuce wrapped with a side salad, and they were nicely done and we appreciated her bringing the side salad before the burger instead of all at once which most places do. The menu had something for everyone. I didn't realize the restaurant was even in there, I'd been in once before to gamble and. Ever noticed it. I would have gambled a bit today too but the smoke smell was pretty intense. Luckily we were seated in the back of the restaurant and it wasn't really noticeable back there.

One day I decided to be brave and order a salmon salad from a casino in Gardnerville, NV and I keep coming back for it! I literally cannot stop talking about it. The salmon is grilled and seasoned perfectly. Mixed greens are tossed in a slightly sweet vinaigrette alongside blue cheese crumbles, candied walnuts, mandarin oranges and more. I am beyond happy. This salad is FANTASTIC Bartenders are kind and incredibly prompt on refills. I definitely enjoy coming here

Farmer's omelette, big and delicious! The biscuits are flaky and awesome!

Sharkey's Cafe, great food, great service, we went on a Saturday morning and were seated immediately. Food and service were better than expected for a Casino cafe, we'll definitely be back!

Basically our room was two rooms that have been converted into a suite that has a kitchen, little dining island, living room, and a separate bedroom and bathroom. It has two doors to enter, so a little weird but honestly, super practical. The rooms were very quiet and I couldn't hear any noise from any neighbors. The shower was great and the water stayed super hot through both of our showers. The room was spacious and clean (though the floor could have been swept/mopped better imo). The first night we were there, someone got sick in the parking lot. I called the operator and explained the situation and asked if they had anyone to clean it up as it wasn't exactly what anyone wants to see and to my surprise they immediately sent someone out who was able to clean up that spot! Thank you!! The casino is small, but had some good games. Overall, I'd stay here again.

We have stayed in the hotel a couple times as well. We're pretty satisfied with both areas. This time we're staying in the motor lodge section of CVI. It's ok. Not our favorite. The room needs a lot of updating. It's a little dingy in some areas and it's not as clean as we expected it to be. Curtains have hooks missing and signs of stains. Bathroom rusting in some spots and exhaust fan cover just hanging to dear life. It's a nice location and it's walking distance to a lot of places. Oh also, the walls are super thin. We can hear our neighbors talking clearly. It's like they're just in our bathroom at 1 point their conversation was so clear. This motor lodge had a lot of potential so please please CVI management please consider updating and give the rooms some attention. It's going to be really bad in a couple of months if it's not attended to asap. Love love love CVI. Staff is 110% helpful and kind!!! Save the motor lodge. Do t let it be an afterthought

They have fresh coffee 24/7, a soda machine and hot water and tea bags for those who prefer to drink tea. And, of course, they have a full bar for those who want alcohol. If they served food, this would be a perfect place to visit. That's the only thing they are missing (and I don't recommend buying your food from the bakery next door...read that review before you buy anything from them.) Even if they had a simple hot dog cart for game days in the sports book, that would be enough. William Hill has a sports book inside with plenty of big tvs to watch most live sports. The only sport they don't carry is horse racing (which is a major disappointment). However, they will carry horse racing on big racing days, such as the Kentucky Derby, but keep mind they are NOT parimutuel. That means they won't pay you full track odds, so if you bet a Pick 6 and it hits for $500,000, they won't pay you the full amount. Instead, they'll pay you something like 300to1 based on your amount wagered AND use a hard cap of a maximum $5,000 payout for any bet made. For casual horse players who only bet Win/Place/Show, you're probably okay placing wagers on horse racing here when they carry it. Otherwise, true horse bettors need to find a parimutuel book (such as CVI, Atlantis, Peppermill or Caesar's Republic - always ask the teller if they are a true parimutuel before you place a horse racing wager). On the plus side, they have kiosks for placing bets if you don't wish to place your bet through a teller (like me).

I decided to try it again today, hoping that, they would have changed. Unfortunately, no change. I always play the same machine. I arrived at 12:50 PM. The casino is usually pretty empty, and now I know why! There are NO cocktail waitresses. You're depending on the bartender to see you and realize that you are there. Sometimes there two bartenders. They do not walk around to check on customers. This one bar tender (picture posted) was talking to someone for over 30 minutes, not paying any attention to any other customers. I can see the bar from where I'm playing. After waiting 40 minutes, I took a chance, leaving my purse on my chair, to go to the bar. I told the bartender where it was sitting, that I had been sitting there for 40 minutes, and could I please have a Chardonnay. She eventually brought it to me. The other problem . . . The whole place smells like Pine-Sol cleaner. Workers are continuously cleaning when there's really no customers. If they had someone paying attention to the customers playing, maybe COD's business would do a lot better. I will not go back! I will bring my money elsewhere!

After engineering temporarily repaired the toilet that was on its way out, housekeeping barely cleaned the bathroom. They wiped up the visible mess with towels but never mopped or disinfected the area, despite us traveling with children and a baby. I went down to speak with the front desk manager, Kayla Smith at 5:00 a.m. after losing an entire night's sleep, the only compensation she offered was some resort credit. I asked for a late checkout so we could at least get some rest, but I was told the hotel was "fully booked" and couldn't accommodate the request. On a Monday, that explanation was difficult to believe and felt like an excuse rather than a genuine attempt to help. Beyond the great location, the property feels old, poorly maintained, and unclean. Between the lack of responsiveness, inadequate cleanup, and poor customer service, I can't recommend staying at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. There are better options nearby.
