Food was delicious, prepared great and nothing spilled! They wrapped the baked beans in cellophane and I thought it was genius! Pulled pork and chopped brisket were smoky and tasted wonderful. All the sides like the sweet potato whip and the spinach dish were amazing too. I love how family friendly the meals are where you can order by the pint and pound. Makes dinner so quick and easy. I can't believe I finally went to Sharko's. After checking our other Yelper's reviews and photos, I went for lunch recently. I had the burnt ends sandwich, which was enormous and tasted great. Good basic roll, and the sauce was good. All four sauces actually were good in their own ways. I also had 2 ribs, which were good, but a la carte is not the way to go, price wise. I tried the bacon potato salad which was decent, but saw the other sides close up and will try another on my next visit. I'll go back again, and the taste of the meat was good-just enough of the flavor left on, and the smoke and char was just right. read more

Probably one of the best in west suburbs (Naperville, Aurora, Montgomery area) but definitely not the best of Chicago. Can't argue with the variety and awesome sauces! Their que is good but I had better, within Chicagoland at least. Let me give a low-down of what we ordered... rib tips: I was expecting a very tender meat where you could also chew on the cartilage but it's not. I almost lost a tooth, but flavor is good though. I think might need few more hours in the smoker, was too tough for me. brisket: It was dry and very lean, I prefer mine in-between fatty+lean part. Smoky flavor did not marry with the meat very well so for me is a little bland, but thanks to the sauces. Maybe just got a bad cut from the brisket. rotisserie chicken: Too dry and the worst part is the chicken still had 3-4 strands of 1in long burnt feathers attached to the wing. Few more and the chicken could have flown away. Sharko's please make sure you properly clean your bird before throwing it to the grill. Corn muffin: Ok and very crumbly that you would need a spoon to eat it. I was expecting more hints of the corn kernel taste instead of the flour. Only reason this went to an okay experience is the great atmosphere, the decor including the saddle wrapped chairs and barn style setting. And again I see why you guys won best sauce from Naperville Rib Fest few years back. But I would rather have a flavorful que and skip the sauces if need be. A decent barbecue place. It's small but busy, so expect to bump elbows with a lot of people. I ordered a smoked turkey sandwich, which is available only on the weekends, and fries. Sharko's BBQ is second to none. I have been there about 4 times for carry out and the quality and service is consistent. On the weekends, smoked turkey is available. The smoked turkey was tender and juicy with just the right amount of smoky flavor... however, there is a sauce that comes on it that I didn't like! So , in the future I asked for no sauce and it solved the problem. The sandwhichs are large, my hubby gets pulled pork and it's amazing! I hate spinach! But the side of spinach soufflé is really good! It will turn a spinach hater into s soufflé lover! Good baked beans, creamed corn is great, and the avocado corn black bean side is outstanding! Good food. Usually where BBQ places drop the ball is on sides, their sides are very tasty. We had the burnt ends, pulled pork, potato salad, beans, mac n cheese, creamed corn and peach cobbler. Their sauces are decent but even though they have 6 there are only really 3 sauces the others are mixes of those sauces. They are heavy on vinegar and pepper as others have mentioned. They have sauces representing the different areas of BBQ meccas, Carolina mustard, Memphis sweet, etc. This and other BBQ places are shattering my dreams of opening a BBQ place as this is becoming very hot right now in Chicago and they are popping up every where. read more

Mmm. Mmmm. I've been at some of the most well known BBQ places and some great places on the NC BBQ trail. All really good, but Sharko's is a gem in the Chicago burbs. Let me just say... AMAZING My friend had told me about this place and I was a little skeptical. I usually don't enjoy pulled pork, let alone bbq unless I'm in the South or at my family reunion. This place was DELICIOUS. Seriously the best pulled pork I've EVER had, and this says a lot! All of their sauces are amazing but my favorite one is called 'Pork Juice' - sounds weird but it is so yummy. I guess it is a mixture of their Carolina and Memphis sauce? In any case, it's the best one! Their sides are also very delicious and definitely not bland! I was excited about the mac n cheese, but it was not my favorite. The creamed corn was by far the best side item I had, the bbq baked beans were also super delicious. Service was awesome, and it seemed as if the owner may have been in the building at the time and he was super enthusiastic and appreciative- very great attitude. Although the location is a little small, there is just enough seating room, and the ambiance is great! I love their saddle seats that they have by the window, so fun! To top it all off they have this little complimentary vanilla ice cream machine by the exit for you to have a little dessert. It definitely exceeded my expectations - it tasted very rich and high quality. Almost better than blue bell ice cream. I usually loathe vanilla ice cream because it is the most basic thing ever, but whatever they had in that little machine was so flavorful I had to have more than just one little cone. I'm having a hard time giving this place a score. Somewhere between two and three stars seems fair. To start, it appears to be quite a bit of food for the money. Their decor is really quite nice, but the seating arrangement is extremely convoluted. We got the sliced brisket and rib tips. The brisket was fairly bland, slightly dry, and not enough smoke flavor to it. The rib tips were just okay. They were more fatty than usual. Their sauces were absolutely terrible. There was nothing special to them, all overloaded with vinegar and pepper. Their size were the largest disappointment, I think. BBQ beans had a weird flavor with large, stew chunks of meat, and just had an off-putting consistency. The cream corn was literally corn from a can and some cream. Most basic and disappointing recipe out there. I wouldn't recommend. I think Q BBQ downtown Naperville is a much better alternative. read more

Sharko has food prepared in a very short time; limited waiting. The Brisket is consistently moist, fresh and of good quality. The macaroni and cheese, string beans and corn muffins are of consistent grade as well. The pork ribs are hit and miss. Sometimes they are too dry and sometimes they are too pink. Unless you specify, they will cut your slab of ribs, which will definitely be a downside to your take out and delivery order. The pre-cut dries the ribs. YOU must say, "do not cut my slab." They also will apply sauce. If you are particular, request your sauce on the side. If ordering for more than 1-2 people, it is best to ask how much food (by pound for meat), would be needed for the number of people in your party. If you don't, you could either end up with too little or too much food. The servers are pleasant and accommodating. They do t stay open late which is also a downside, but the food is tasty and won't disappoint. read more

Casual dining BBQ place. Went here for lunch with my wife and daughter for our first time. Place is very casual. You order similar fashion to Chiplotle as you go down the line ordering your meat, sides, and drinks. My wife and I had burnt ends on a bun and my daughter had pulled pork on a bun. The burnt ends were good (not great). The pulled pork was quite flavorful and moist. The sandwiches were generous in size. They offer a variety of sauces on the table (4) to meet your taste preference. These were quite good. Quite a few options on sides including cornbread with honey butter. The cornbread was very good. The sides were good size as well. I had green beans which were good. The girls had fries and gave a favorable review although my wife prefers crispy fries which these were not. The service was very good. The manager was very friendly and attentive to us. Making sure we were happy with our food and aware of all the options. Other than the food I always rate places by their service because even if the food is to die for I won't return if service was bad. Fortunately for me Sharks Barbecue met every expectation. The owner Brian helped me personally and it was if I was speaking to an old friend! Once again i placed this order for family that live in Aurora, IL. I myself have never been there so I know nothing of the food scene in Aurora. I just picked his place randomly. After my family ate they called to thank me and tell me how the food was. Mind you we are islanders so this type of barbecue is not the way we do it, but my family gave everything a 10! I ordered the pig out 8, but if your Chamorro this order maybe feeds 5!! Lol!! The brisket, baby back ribs, pork, coleslaw, and bread passed every tick I had. I urge everyone to give it a try!! So we went hard-core and ordered $80 worth of food (yes, decided to be pigs). Okay, splurge since my hub loves BBQ and we hadn't treated ourselves in a long time. Therefore, we ordered a ton off the menu including sides and desserts. Does this sound crazy? Yes. Buuut, we were feeling frisky. The meat. Their "rubbed/smoked chicken" had great flavor, super juicy..not dry at all. Brisket: wasn't the best, but this is the opinion of someone who lived in Kansas City. The brisket was a bit dry and lacked the "smoke ring". The pulled pork was very tasty. Rib tips: not sure if they were old, because they were very chewy and dry. We had to overcompensate by adding extra sauce. Baby back ribs: very tender. But not worth the $13 for 1/2 or $21 for full slab. Pulled pork sliders were so-so, maybe the bun could be improved. I don't know what was lacking; something amiss. They have 5 sauces to choose from, with no explanation (i.e., Carolina, Sassy, Shark Bite). Cute names, but this was confusing; hence I packed up ALL sauces to-go. Maybe less sauce options would be better OR display the sauce description on the bottle for in-store guests. Now, I'm not much of a meat-eater so I was down to try all the sides which I loved. Over-priced? YES. The sweet potatoes, spinach casserole and corn muffins.. I do recommend. You can try the sides before ordering, so that's nice. IF there's no line behind you. Brownies and Apple Crisp: A PLUS. Con: if there's a huge line to order, you feel rushed. Think Chipotle but more choices and less time to decide. The menu is on the wall so this made me feel panicked to not hold up the line. Overall, good food. High prices. Well what can i say! An amazing BBQ place in the burbs? in a strip mall? YES!!! First and foremost, its nearly impossible to find Burnt Ends anywhere in a 200 mile radius, and if you do, it's garbage. Sharko's not only serves Burnt ends, they are the best i've ever had and most authentic around. Honestly i haven't tried any of the other meat offerings here because the Burnt Ends are THAT DAMN AMAZING!!! They have TONS of sides to choose from which are all good, but for 7.95 that damn Burnt End sandwich is worth clogging 2 maybe 3 arteries. There is ONE thing i would change, and i almost deducted 1 star for this. Having good authentic BBQ, good sauces, you FAILED on one thing. The SWEET TEA!! PLEASE make your own (homemade) Sweet tea and dont use Lipton. Most BBQ places do this and it will make everything complete. read more
