    Steak on a Steak Kabob
    Titan Z.

Greetings my Foodzies, yesterday we went to Brooster's's open hearth chicken at 434 22nd St in Lombard. It was a nice clean restaurant with counter ordering and expedited table service. Seating was a choice of table or booth. They had music from the 50s & 60s playing which was nice and since we were the only ones there we could hear it perfectly. We tried the steak sandwich with mashed potato and the steak on a stick with rice and coleslaw. The steak was cooked well but terribly under seasoned. I was surprised that since they had a vast grilling area that there was no char. The mash potatoes had a unique flavor, it tasted as if it was made with chicken broth. I enjoyed it that and the coleslaw was the highlight of the meal. I give this restaurant 2 stars. Give it a try if you desire and let me know what you think. Ciao Ciao for now.

Double leg double thigh with baked tater and beans. All very good and priced right

Very solid chicken joint off the beaten path of the Butterfield rd/ Cermak/ 22nd street corridor. Love the marinated grilled chicken and the sides. Order a chicken dinner and get two sides for just under ten bucks. I had the two legs two thighs plate and it was great. They actually gave me baked beans instead of the requested green beans which I decided not to complain about and just try them and now I'm a fan. Baked potato was great. Plenty of seating. Just order find a place to sit and they'll bring it to you. Silverware, not plastic. The service was friendly and I'll be back.

Broosters is one of those rare finds that would remain tucked away unless you did some wide-eyed searching. I have to admit, even if I had seen the Lombard location, I don't think I would have given it a try; its THAT inconspicuous. BUT, I'm seriously happy I did. Even if you had decided to walk into the joint, I don't think you'd feel like it was going to produce some b-o-m-b chicken. Its appearance is THAT modest. BUT, the chicken is not. I think the first thing you should do at Broosters is order the whole or half chicken...whatever you feel like you can put away. The flavor is absolutely amazing. Add that charbroiled essence to the mix to seal the deal. What we have in the end is an incredibly moist piece of chicken that hits the spot where it counts. The mashed potato and coleslaw side dishes parallel that of KFC. Texas toast is included with everything! **They have this salsa thats hidden in a white container that you MUST use...it changes everything!!**

1/2 chicken: Meal with 2 sides = $10.90ish with tax

We were seated in the main dining area and could easily see the open kitchen. Tim our server was very nice although he did forget my salad and took forever to take our initial orders, other than that he was good. The Manhattan was perfect - not too sweet and ice cold. Bread service was great - warm poppy seed, onion and pumpernickel breads as well as some crispy flatbread type of cracker. We enjoyed the fried calamari with peppers (plenty of those!) which didn't even need a dipping sauce they had enough flavor on their own. My better half had a cup of the lobster bisque and it was flavorful however it had too much flour as a thickener so it coated the mouth with a bit of pastiness. The two boys had a dry aged New York strip and a bone in rib eye. Both were well seasoned honey the NY strip was really chewy at the smaller end. Bearnaise sauce was decent but not as good as my own - it needed more vinegar and tarragon. My seabass was spectacular - perfectly cooked and flaky with just the right amount of seasoning. The tiny asparagus underneath were almost laughably small! The gave our nephew a complementary mini dessert plate with a flourless chocolate cake and a cheesecake - nice touch!

This is a pretty pricey option for a family dinner in general, but in relative terms, is not bad when it comes to the steak prices compared to other Steakhouses in the area. Our family all enjoyed our dinners, but the standout of the night was the grill master combo. This had a half slab of ribs, wings, and a hot link with two sides for $31. I had the ribeye for $48 that just comes with one side, and while the steak and garlic mashed potatoes were great, it wasn't a great value money-wise. I wish I would have at least gotten a vegetable or side salad as part of my meal, but I wasn't about to pay $7 for some a la carte green beans. In our party someone had the BBQ bacon burger, that was also a standout, with a nice large burger patty and crispy bacon. They have lots of happy hour deals advertised; unfortunately we were there after 6 PM, but I can see how they're trying to use that to have a fighting chance. The dining room was nearly empty, but it was a random Wednesday night, and the serving staff was the B or C team. I can see how the A servers don't want to work here if it's this dead. Maybe it's busier and has better service on the weekends, but I have never been here on a weekend night. I had been here alone before and wasn't too thrilled with the tenderloin medallion flight; it was still expensive, and the portions were tiny. I'm glad I went with the ribeye this time, but if I ever came again, it would be for that grill master combo.

My rating just got increased from a 3 to a 4 based upon being advised that this hamburger was hand made and formed in an in-house mold, correcting my assumption that it was prepackaged due to the uniformed look of the burger. Had been craving a fresh hand made burger for months and just knew a Weber restaurant would deliver the goods. I explicitly said NO MAYO OR AOLI and you bet they had mayo. for this reason they cannot receive 5 stars but I will return simply because of this response!!!! Nice place. Friendly people.

She was very happy to be able help in any way to make me comfortable and was just a joy to have. My first course was the Iceberg wedge BLT, with my cocktail smoked old fashioned. That meal was phenomenal! Lobster sat perfectly on top of the beef medallions as they both were served and with gratitude I ate every bit of it! A beautiful circular room that was glass enclosed with views of outside and the bar area. They had sheet curtains incase groups wanted a bit more privacy. The room also had a personal fan for air circulation and an independent speaker system to adjust music volume. For drinks, our group got a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine. I got the Hugo Spritz which was a great portion & tasted amazing. While some cocktails on menu were expensive, my Spritz was $14 and my friend's tito's dirty martini was only $13. Definitely consider just ordering a classic versus one of their mixology offerings if you're looking for a budget conscious option. For starters, we shared the Stuffed Mushrooms, Calamari, and Spinach & Artichoke Dip. The portions were good for sharing. The Stuffed Mushrooms had a seafood mix in them with a delicious sauce paired under. The Calamari had a hint of spicy to it but nothing crazy. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip had a good truffle note and was creamy; the dip could have used a few more chips but some individuals used the complimentary bread slices. Most individuals got a soup or salad before the mains. The Lobster Bisque Soup was rich and creamy with a good amount of lobster. Others tried the Caesar, Chop, and Field Green Pear Salads. The Pear Salad could have been shared by two people since it was a starter salad. Everyone raved about the flavors of these. For mains, most people got steaks and shared side dishes of Brussel Sprouts, Truffle Steak Fries, and Asparagus. The sides were shareable for 2-3 people I would say. I ordered the Seared Scallop Pasta and loved it! The noodles were al dente, two sauces paired nicely together, and loved the vegetables that brightened up the dish. For desserts, we shared the Rocky Road Bread Pudding, Fudgy Chocolate Cake, and Orange Vanilla Cream Cheesecake. Every option brought its own flavor and offered something for everyone. I tried the Bread Pudding and Chocolate Cake and WOW! I'd certainly order either one again. While all of the food, drinks, and atmosphere were great, I struggled some with the service. Our main server was Christine who guided us through the menu nicely, made sure the room was comfortable for us, and had a sweet demeanor. The pacing of food was a bit off where it felt like dishes were being taken off the table with a couple of bites left just to serve the next course. I'm not a fan of wasting food when out and I felt these little bites could have been saved and sent home with guests. If we paid for it, we should ALWAYS be asked. There were a couple of side requests that came to the table very delayed and one meal that came at the end of dinner. I'm sure it is difficult to manage a large group setting but I felt disappointed to see items wasted, pacing rushed, and certain people waiting to enjoy till additional items came.

As we ordered drinks, he asked only my daughter (33 years old) and my niece (39 years old) for identification. My niece explained that she had her ID available digitally on her phone. Casper said he needed a physical ID but would check with a manager to see if the digital version could be accepted. After speaking with management, he returned and informed us that a digital ID would not be accepted. He explained that the restaurant's policy required physical IDs from anyone who appeared to be 30 years old or younger. When we expressed our frustration and said we would not be dining there because of this policy, he showed no concern and offered no apology. We were curious about a random age requirement if the server thought you "looked" 30 or younger although the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. Before leaving, we asked to speak with a manager. Ryan, the manager, met us at the door, and we explained that we were disappointed that our niece could not order a drink despite having a valid digital ID. Rather than addressing our concern, he compared the situation to him being carded at liquor stores. We pointed out that this was a restaurant, not a liquor store, and that the policy appeared to be applied selectively based exclusively on the server's judgment. Ryan offered no apology and referred us to the General Manager. When Christa, the General Manager, joined us, we asked why the restaurant used a 30-year-old threshold when the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. She initially stated that the policy was to request IDs from all guests ordering alcohol. I explained that only my daughter and niece had been asked for IDs. She then revised her explanation, saying that servers request IDs from anyone who appears younger than 30, making the policy exclusively dependent on the server's judgment. We also pointed out that we observed a nearby table of younger-looking guests had been served alcoholic beverages, but their server did not ask for their IDs. Christa questioned our observation. What was most disappointing was that neither Ryan nor Christa apologized for the inconvenience or acknowledged our concerns. As first-time guests, we left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that we will not be dining at Perry's in Oakbrook again and has left a bad impression of Perry's management team, in general. If I could rate them a "no stars," I would.
